Cottage holiday rentals in Arco da Calheta

We had a wonderful time at Emanuels place. He was a wonderful host, very helpful with recommendations and showing how everything worked. The view from his place is incredible. We spent almost every evening on the terrace, enjoying the view of the ocean and Ribeira Brava. What a wonderful place! Thank you so much for sharing it with us.

magnifique emplacement dans les montagnes. une fois qu'on sait comment s'y rendre, très facile d'accès. La maison est très belle, propre, et conforme à la description.

Nous sommes vraiment ravi de notre séjour. Le logement est incroyable, au milieu des montagnes, il est paisible et permet de déconnecter de la ville et du bruit. Il est accessible en voiture et les instructions sont claires et précises, de plus les hôtes sont très réactifs au besoin. L’arrivée autonome est un plus et permet d’arriver quand on veut au logement. Le logement est propre est correspond parfaitement aux photos et à la description. Nous recommandons à 100%, merci beaucoup !!

Fantastic views from the garden. The host was super helpful and quick to respond. There was a very generous welcome gift of fruits and local produce.

We had the privilege of renting this efficient and comfortable home for a month. Mary is an extraordinary host. Directions were precise, information was thorough and she was available to offer assistance, and answer questions at any time. Fresh citrus trees were available for picking just off the generous patio. We enjoyed the hot tub and having a washer and dryer and outdoor clothes rack. The Poncha Bar down the street is the best!!! Mary’s husband Joseph is the owner/bartender/coffee maker and general store manager….he does it all! Joseph’s Poncha is hands down the best we found on the island! A safe and welcoming neighborhood, in a central location on a stunning island.

We hebben een prima verblijf gehad. Helaas viel tijdens ons verblijf een glazen deksel vanuit het kastje boven de kookplaat, op de kookplaat. Die was stuk. Direct gemeld en geregeld met de eigenaar. Heel erg fijn. Verder is de locatie top, het is erg rustig en mooi. Je zit precies aan de goede zonnige kant van Madeira. De cocktailbar iets verderop, pukiki, is op loopafstand en erg leuk om heen te gaan. Winkels zijn dichtbij, strand is dichtbij en de mooie wandelroutes zijn perfect aan te rijden. Er is geen airco aanwezig, ik denk wel dat als het warmer wordt dat je de hitte gaat merken maar er staat een ventilator. De bedjes bij het zwembad waren wel doorgezakt, wij hebben gewoon onze buitenstoelen gebruikt. Alles in het huisje is verder top in orde. Geen grote luxe maar perfect voor de prijs, de locatie en alles wat je nodig hebt is aanwezig.

The accomodation was nice, soooo quiet and peaceful. Only the bird chirping we can hear during our stay. the view from the covered terace was amazing. it was easy to reach the house by car. We really enjoyed our stay in this cottage.

Fantastic spot. The geography is stellar. The elevation, the ocean view and the slope of the mountain this property is on gives the illusion that you are floating 800 meters above the ocean. Really something special. The pictures don’t do it justice at all.

If you're looking for a quiet area to get away from the crowds in the cities this is a wonderful place. It's nestled in the mountain valleys near Ponta do Prago but quite near the ocean. We loved our 6 day stay at Frederica 's. She provided good, clear instructions to get there. She also gave us very useful information on local attractions, restaurants and supermarkets. The house is on a very steep pitched road so walking up and down it can be a challenge ( we are in our 70's ) We did it a few times. There is a walk from her house to the waterfalls . It took us about 2 hrs. Rnd-trip but it was well worth it. If we were to return we'd go back in April or later.

We hadden een zeer goed verblijf in deze smaakvol ingerichte en verzorgde woning met paradijselijke tuin en het zicht op de oceaan. Maria Adriana was een super fijne host. Het was in het begin wat wennen aan de steile helling om er te geraken, maar dat is op veel plaatsen zo in Madeira. Gelukkig huurden we een kleine wagen.

Gute Unterkunft. Der Gastgeber ist sehr gut erreichbar und sehr bemüht bei Fragen oder Problemen. Wir haben eine Kakerlake und Ameisen im Objekt aufgefunden. Katzenkot im Garten wurde nach Rücksprache bereinigt. Die Lage ist gut, jedoch ist der Weg zum Strand aufwendiger als beschrieben. 20min bergab o bergauf ;) Ich war mit dem Aufenthalt zufrieden! Die Bäder sind modernisiert, die Küche ist gut ausgestattet. Die Gartenmöbel/ Liegeflächen wirken veraltet. Wir haben bei der Jagd nach Insekten eine Lampe zerstört. Diese wurde uns nicht in Rechnung gestellt. Armando war sehr nett und ich kann die Unterkunft empfehlen.

This place is amazing! In the middle of the mouintains and almost no one around - felt magical ! Nice view of the ocean with green surrounding. It is also close to the small village with good coffee :) House looks like in the pictures, cozy, big and clean. Garden is well kept with many areas to hang out. We have the worst weather but with two electric heaters it was warm inside. The host was friendly, helped us with all issues that we asked and made this holidays really easy-going for us :) thanks! Highly recommended for memorable and relaxed holidays :) PS The swimming pool can be heated but it costs 45€/day and it has to be heated for at least 5 days.

Die Unterkunft von Sofia und Jose ist einfach ein Traum! Die Zimmer sind geschmackvoll eingerichtet, und der Ausblick von der Terrasse ist atemberaubend. Wir sind mit einem Mietwagen angereist und haben stets problemlos einen Parkplatz in der Nähe gefunden. Die Kommunikation mit den Gastgebern war durchweg angenehm und schnell – Sofia und Jose waren jederzeit erreichbar und sehr hilfsbereit. Wir können diese Unterkunft wärmstens empfehlen und würden jederzeit wiederkommen.

Wir haben uns in Domingos Haus sehr wohl gefühlt. Besonders gefallen hat uns der Blick von den beiden Terrassen auf die Bucht und das Meer (noch schöner, als auf den Fotos!) Das Haus ist ruhig gelegen in einer schmalen und steilen Einbahnstraße. Es ist sehr geräumig und sauber und sehr gut ausgestattet mit ausreichend Geschirr, Töpfen, Handtüchern usw. Neben der Terrasse gibt es einen extra Grillraum mit weiterer Küche und Zugang zum Garten aus dem wir uns Kräuter pflücken durften.Obwohl die Straße eng und steil ist, war das Parken kein Problem - der Spaziergang in den Ort dauert je nach Kondition 20 - 30 Minuten. Der Kontakt zum Verwalter war sehr freundlich und zuverlässig. Wir wurden persönlich und sehr herzlich begrüßt und als Willkommensgruß gab es ein großes Paket aus Wein, frischen Eiern, Bananen, Keksen und Kuchen. Das Haus ist eine gute Ausgangslage um den Westen der Insel zu erkunden und wir können es gerne weiterempfehlen. Obrigada!

Es ist wirklich eine sehr schöne Unterkunft. Toller Ausblick, toller Sonnenuntergang auf der Terrasse mit Liegen und Tisch sowie Balkon. Wir waren wirklich froh, diesen Ort gefunden zu haben. Die Kommunikation mit der Vermieterin war sehr gut. 🚗 Gut zu wissen ist, dass die Anfahrt tatsächlich nicht ganz einfach ist, aber man wird feststellen, dass man auf Madeira immer wieder in solche Straßensituationen kommen wird. Tatsächlich tut man sich viel leichter, wenn das Auto nicht allzu groß ist.

Geweldig verblijf in een prachtig en rustig huis Wat een fijne plek! Het huis is nog mooier dan op de foto’s en de beschrijving doet het eigenlijk tekort. Het is ontzettend rustig gelegen met een prachtig uitzicht — ideaal om helemaal tot rust te komen. Alles was perfect onderhouden en brandschoon. De keuken is volledig uitgerust, je hebt echt alles wat je nodig hebt. Helaas zat het weer niet mee en hebben we door de regen weinig van de buitenruimte kunnen genieten. We hadden hier met gemak nog veel langer willen blijven. Een echte aanrader!

Regina’s house is sparkling clean, elegant and with breathtaking review. It is defiantly the best Airbnb we had in Madeira! Regina is super considerate and shows super care to her guest, we were welcomed with fresh bread (very yammy!!) and local wine and groceries which made our first day a easy one. We were able to cook traditional dishes “Espetada Madeirense” using the BBQ. The house has everything you will need for a comfortable stay and you won’t need to go anywhere else, the view on the deck is unbeatable!

Thank you so much to Costa and Siestke, their home is beautiful and was our perfect base - we were so happy to have slow mornings there and return home there in the evening after exploring the island. Porto de Cruz is a great little village with the old rum factory and beaches, we really loved our stay here. Costa ans Sietske were so gracious, sharing the history of the building and local recommendations, it was a pleasure to meet both of them. Thank you so much for everything! 10/10 highly recommend, especially if you want a cosy, authentic place to yourself on the island. Perfect!
