Me and my friends loved this BNB!! The hot tub was amazing and the pool was an awesome addition. Instructions were clear and even called to walk me through everything. Plenty of places to sleep and loads of places to go!

The house was perfect for us. Very clean and organized. Great host always responded in a timely manner. Was only about a 30 to 40 minute drive to Acadia National Park & Bar harbor, depending on traffic it could take longer. If we ever make it back to Maine I would definitely stay at the Higgins Retreat again. Thanks again Richard & Tina.

We had a wonderful stay at John’s place, house was clean, comfortable, and stocked with everything we needed for a month stay. Private and beautiful surroundings, responsive and friendly host, and a great location to explore Maine and the upper east coast. Memories to last a lifetime! Would recommend anyone wanting to enjoy to coast of Maine to stay here and have a great time, so much to see and do. Thanks for sharing your home with us!

My return visit to the Boathouse was even lovelier than I hoped it would be. The location can't be matched by anything else I've seen. I enjoyed a September visit with my dog and was lucky to have pristine weather. I lived a very simple and healthy outdoors life and came home the better for it. The Boathouse is true to its description: it is simple and rustic and uncomplicated but well-equipped, and is perfect for one-and-dog, or for two people. A little coming-and-going from the neighboring houses meant that I didn't feel isolated. Margaret is truly an exceptional and friendly host who communicates promptly and clearly. I almost hesitate to share "my" Boathouse location with too many of my back-home friends because it feels so intimate and special. I already want to be back there. I offer my deep thanks to Margaret and to the place that I could - briefly - call home.

If you’re looking to stay in Bar Harbor, this is the place! We felt very at home during our 1 week stay and walking to and from downtown Bar Harbor was easy and accessible. The house is also a 8 minute walk to the nearest grocery store so cooking your own home made meal was simple. We would definitely recommend this place to our friends and family and would stay here again!

We had the most amazing week at Adam and Lauren’s place! I truly cannot say enough about how wonderful it was. The house was and cozy inviting- we felt right at home. And it had absolutely everything we could have possibly needed. All of the furniture was incredibly comfortable, and we slept amazingly in the king sized bed. But what made this place shine was the outdoor space. First, it is nice and private, separated from all the neighbors by trees/patches of woods. But beyond the privacy, the hosts have put so much attention into making it outstanding with all the amenities you could want on vacation- an amazing hot tub, a lovely little lounge space, a tent to get out of the sun or rain, a grilling area, AND a pool?! PLUS a separate, fully fenced space for dogs?? AND THEN it’s only 20 min to Bar Harbor?! It’s got it all. Truly. If you are considering booking this place, do not hesitate for one second. It is the PERFECT Acadia getaway. And Adam and Lauren are great, attentive hosts!

We had a great stay at this house! Plenty of beds for everyone. Convenient to get to Acadia and bar harbor with a short drive!

I have stayed at dozens of air BnBs and I think this may be the best one yet. The house is nestled in the woods in a quiet remote setting. Not only is the house new and very nice on the inside but it has a lake view from both sides! The lake is terrific for swimming and Jud offers a good selection of kayaks and boards. At night the elevated deck is perfect for listening to the sounds of nature. What made the experience even more wonderful was the hosts - I had requested an extended checkout and since they were unable to accommodate that they offered us to come a night early at no charge. In addition, I was left stranded by Uber when Uber did not follow through on a ride that I needed. Jud went way above and beyond and helped me out. I would have been lost without him. Oh, and not to mention they also delivered us some fresh homemade cookies during our stay which were fantastic! I cannot speak highly enough about this lake house or the hosts. I only hope I am lucky enough to return!

The place was quiet and comfortable. We really loved the fire pit in the yard. The house had everything we needed. The location was great too, within 30 mins drive to Acadia National Park.

Erica was SO accommodating and helpful. She responded extremely quick anytime we messaged and gave us tips and recommendations. Her home is adorable and we really enjoyed being there. It had everything we needed! Only thing to note is that while her place is 20 minutes from Acadia’s entrance it is a big park so anytime we were going to a hike it did take more like 40 minutes to get to it, just worth a mention! Highly recommend her place!

Aaron's place was super cute and cozy,was one of the best places we have ever rented, Amazing and very private super close to Bar Harbor and attractions in the Area,like Cadillac mountain and the Arcadia national Park surroundings etc,the bed is comfortable and hot water was Amazing,the Grill is super easy to use and super efficient,the view of the lake is a Dream come true when you wake up in the morning or sunset to look out into the lake as you have either breakfast or dinner,it is especial when you can enjoy your stay in such amazing environment and gorgeous home, shopping at Hannaford and then cooking it at the home grill was the best dinner ever, thanks to Aaron for attention to detail at this property,I definitely recommend renting this home for privacy and comfort of the mind,is truly a great home and location to the attractions are superb,is far enough for privacy and close enough to all attractions without a Doubt is a Gem,I will Definitely come back without thinking about it

Beautiful and peaceful location! While off MDI, it was still very easy to access Acadia National Park and was a convenient location overall. Wonderful views out the windows, sliders, decks, etc. The area by the water was lovely as well. As we were staying with our baby, it was so helpful to have some provided baby items—a pack and play, high chair, and a baby gate (though we didn’t us the latter)—in addition to typical items (bed linens, towels, a wide variety of kitchen essentials, etc.) Robard was an excellent host, providing lots of information before the stay and responding promptly during our stay. We couldn’t get a window to lock (user error on our part) and Robard quickly came to check it out. He arrived just as we figured it out, but was very kind about the inconvenience, and chatted with us about the area and clamming by the water.

Very clean, very functional house with plenty of space for a family of 4, with the extra sofa bed (not that comfortable) for an additional 2 people. Very well equipped. Nice to be able to walk a few blocks to 'downtown Ellsworth', and we did that and ate at a good Mexican place (Margarita something), and a not that great 'british' pub (Airway or something .. right next to Mexican place). Prices I noticed that these restaurants seemed 20 - 50% more than in the midwest, even at a Mexican restaurant that we ate at at Bangor. It took us about 30 min to go to places in Acadia (such as Jordon Pool) and to Bar Harbor. Going to the Bangor airport about 40min. This house is in a typical older-looking neighborhood, and has a decrepit looking barn/garage on the property (though of course not for guests). But the inside of the house is completely different and very modern, functional, etc .. very well maintained and constructed. We had no issues at all.

Kristan was very accommodating and s helpful for our stay. This is the second time we have stayed with her in Maine. We appreciate the hospitality. The location is perfect and a really nice house. We will definitely keep them in mind for our next trip up !! Thanks again !

This is a really beautiful space in an even more beautiful stretch of woods and coast that gave us truly the best of Maine! Hosts were very quick and helpful with various requests and questions (even when we got locked out), and the space was a lovely honeymoon spot for my husband and I.

From the very beginning of our booking process, Stephanie was absolutely incredible! We had a secret wedding elopement and Stephanie made sure that we had the best experience possible for the reception we had at her place. We set up tents outside for the dinner, and spent quality time with friends and family both inside, and outside by the fire. It was a memorable and unforgettable experience thanks to Stephanie and her beautiful home. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants a getaway close enough to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park, and needs some peace and quiet! Her home was absolutely beautiful, we had no complaints, just all great things to say! Cannot wait to come back here again next year! (: Stephanie was very responsive and so kind! Stay at her place, you will not regret it!

Had an awesome time! The view and the space was beautiful, one of the nicest and most welcoming airbnbs I have ever stayed it. A little far from Acadia National Park but the drive was easy and it didn’t feel that long at all due to the sights. Would totally stay here again.

Great stay! Located on Flanders pond (5 min walk; boat launch / public beach to fish / kayak / SUP). Caught over 10 fish in one boating trip. We’ve been to Acadia before so while we did visit the park, it was awesome to have the option to hang out at the ponds/ lakes / public land nearby and go hiking / swimming / fishing. Schoodic Mountain hike (Donnell’s Pond - 10 min drive) with a 1000ft ascent has stunning 360 views and rivals (if not surpasses) main Acadia hikes. We also went to the quiet Schoodic Peninsula side of Acadia, stopped at the beaches and then hiked Schoodic Head (500 ft ascent) / Buck Cove Mountain Trail (25 minutes away). The new modern cabins have great kitchen set ups with high-end appliances, deep set sink and cuisanart pans which made cooking easy. Super comfortable beds and every amenity needed for teenagers (Multiple TVs, WiFi) etc. Fire pit, grill and screen porch also made for a comfortable stay. Owned by a super nice local family. We will be back!

Jamie's lovely home was one of the best Airbnb experiences we've ever had. She sent us a helpful email the week before we arrived ... something that's never happened before in all of our Airbnb stays. She continued to be both responsive and proactive during our time there, and I knew that if anything went wrong she'd be easy to reach. Her recommendations for local dining were spot-on and we appreciated the guidebooks, hiking poles, and well-stocked kitchen. And the house! Well designed and beautifully situated with views of Mount Desert Narrows (and sunsets too). We were there with some of our young adult children and we all had plenty of space with three bedrooms and three full baths. Conveniently located at the top of the island, we could easily get to all parts of Acadia National Park and neighboring coastal towns. It was a short drive to everything we wanted to do, and we also really appreciated the wooded setting's privacy and peace. Thank you, Jamie! A perfect week.

The photos on the website didn’t do it justice! It was a beautiful location and a great place to stay away from the hustle and bustle of Acadia and Bar Harbor. This rental is almost good enough to be your actual destination. The house has everything you could possibly imagine and it was just pristine. They also provided all the paper products four adults needed for 9 nights. Thanks for a lovely stay!

Our stay here was great! There was an issue with the WiFi and Dustin’s response was prompt. This quiet and secluded lake cottage was perfect for our vacation to Maine. Highly recommend!!

Pros : Michael was great and super responsive. The house has character and they provide everything so all you have to so is relax. We brought our 5 year old and our 2 dogs. They had a great kids corner that kept our daughter entertained and the dog amenities came in handy. It’s also within walking distance of a coffee/donut shop and park which was convenient. You can also walk to the main street & we highly recommend Union River Lobster Pot. Cons : If you’re a morning person then disregard, but I like to sleep in on vacation which was hard to do with the road noise and the neighbors. Also, the house has a lot of natural light without much covering so it’s very bright in the mornings (luckily they do provide sleeping mask) but if you’re not use to wearing one and are the type to just close a curtain for darkness that’s not really an option. Overall we had a good experience!
