Pet-friendly holiday rentals in Essex

Our group of six—two adults, one young adult, and three teenagers—had a very comfortable stay at Lesley’s lovely home. It, indeed, felt very much like a home and not just a rental property. There was ample space for all of us, and it was great to have three toilets and two showers. The location is superb—a short walk to coffee, restaurants, and the riverfront, which we enjoyed strolling along in the evening. A great place for a larger group to stay in Wivenhoe!

Ria's 'wedge' house was great place for a stay in Southend. Right next to the beach and amusements with a fantastic icecream parlour at the end of the road. The house was spotless, cosy and a lovely quirky shape. Ria was also really helpful and easy to reach.

A lovely place to stay and a friendly and helpful host. We felt very welcome and the place was very well kitted out for a family holiday by the sea. Would love to come back another time.

We absolutely loved our stay at this beautiful home. From the moment we arrived, it felt incredibly welcoming, with a peaceful vibe that flowed throughout the house and its lovely decor. The garden was a standout feature which was beautifully designed, filled with the scent of blooming flowers, and offering a relaxing view in every direction. It was the perfect place to unwind. The house was also fantastic for my daughter and our dog, with plenty of space both inside and out for them to enjoy and feel at home. The bathroom was great too - it was spotless and stylish, with thoughtful touches like a soothing pillow spray and wonderfully fresh-smelling towels that made it feel like a boutique stay. Overall, this home was the perfect retreat for our little family. We left feeling relaxed, refreshed and already planning a return visit. Highly recommend.

We enjoyed 10 lovely days at Florence's place. We were having such a great time that we would have been happy to stay even longer. Our sweet dog enjoyed the garden and the surrounding walks in the countryside. The house was clean and had everything that we needed to have a restful sleep, to work on our laptop, to prepare meals, to relax in the sitting room or to enjoy the outdoors in the pretty garden. The parking space was appreciated as well. Florence is an excellent host and we highly recommend her accommodations.

Fantastic stay with my family. We have outgrown a caravan holiday and this was absolutely perfect for us. Private but with neighbours. Very relaxing. Wonderful to have a fully functional kitchen with all you need to cook breakfast, lunch or dinner! Hidden treasure!

Had a great stay at Claire's house. Claire was very helpful & responsive on messages. The location is perfect, walking distance to the village for the cafe's and the beach. The kitchen was well stocked and the outside space was perfect for relaxing in the afternoon and evening. Thanks Claire for a great stay!

Had a lovely stay for two nights. Accommodation was very clean and well equipped. Host was excellent in communication . Had a lovely swim in the heated pool on sight and was literally 2 min walk to beach. On site restaurant was good for Sunday lunch and entertainment was good. Only thing to be aware of was onsite shop and take away on site shut early on Sunday

We had a wonderful stay at Kitchen Hall cottages - the swimming pool made it very special for our 4 year old!! Wendy and Max were very responsive and we appreciated their recommendation to visit The Rainbow and Dove - the food was delicious! We visited Hatfield Forest National Trust for a big walk too - it was lovely and would recommend this.

We had a fabulous stay at the caravan, it has everything you need and is very comfortable. It is very clean and cosy. Tracy is the best host and goes beyond helping you feel at home. The site in June was quiet which is what we like. There are wonderful walks on the doorstep and the beach is two minutes away. Mersea island is a little gem!

This is our third time staying with Kelly and yet again we had a great time and experience. The caravan is spotless and in a lovely location. Kelly was an excellent host as she always is. Hopefully we will be back next year!

Had a lovely relaxing stay in a great property. I really quiet location with fantastic outdoor space that was perfect for a family break. The kitchen had all we needed for our meal prep and Clacton is a short drive away for the big supermarket shop. Recommend that you take your garden games but don't forget to pack your swimming bits to spend time in one of the hot tubs afterwards. All the family said they would love to stay there again. Antonina was always speedy and helpful with responses and helped us retrieve the items that we managed to leave behind.

We had the most amazing stay at Sprotts farm, in the brambles. The cottage itself was lovely and so homely, and there were lovely dog walks straight from the door, but to then add in a gorgeous outdoor pool and an excellent games room just propelled this holiday in to one of our favourites. Alica and family were on hand to help with any info if needed, but we're not overbearing at all. We would highly recommend Sprotts farm to anybody and will definitely return. A peaceful and rejuvenating stay at the Tea Caddy. We never wanted to leave! We enjoyed the beautiful garden, so much so we ended up getting engaged under the blossoming tree!

Ursula's place was absolutely perfect for a stay in the area. I can not say enough about how responsive and helpful she is! Check in was so easy and the recommendations were just perfect. The location is wonderful and quiet and beautiful and all the things that you want in a stay in the countryside. I loved it and I will stay there again.

First of all, and this is not a negative in any shape or form, if you're 5'11" or taller (I am), and are a bear of little brain (I am), take a padded hat. Befitting of a property of this age, the ceilings and doorways in some areas are a little low. My wife had no issues at all. Its a beautiful property in a ridiculously good location - with a parking space - whats not to like. The world famous Company Shed is minutes away and there is a very good pizza place just round the corner as well. The house itself has a lovely multi-level feel and there is plenty of space for up to 5 adults I would suggest, with one bedroom on the ground floor for those not liking stairs. Unusual for a cottage of this age. The garden is superb, totally secure - our two small dogs loved it and wouldn't come inside - two seating areas, a BBQ and a lovely summerhouse for quiet contemplation or a place to be sent to if naughty.
