“Don't think twice about staying here if you're looking for a getaway from the "noise" of life & the city! This was such an amazing experience. I inquired a bit for a few things before I booked (WiFi, airports to fly into, etc) and Ms. Kimmy already was answering & helping me out. I booked & asked a few more questions such as a good rental car place, her suggestions for things to do on the island and where to eat. We were in regular communication before and during the trip. There are 2 airports - Governor's Harbor (30 min) and North Eleuthera (20 min), you can fly to either and be good to get to the place. I arrived and was off to the Edge of the World Properties. It truly took my breath away. There are about 3 cottages, all far enough away from each other for privacy but close enough if you wanted to say hey to your neighbors. Ms. Kimmy also lives on the property so she's readily available to help if you need it or I'd message her through Air B&B too, either way she was always right around the corner. My cottage was the perfect size for one or two people - a kitchen area with a table, oven, stove, microwave, coffee pot; she also had ice packs in the freezer which came in handy for beach trips and a cooler bag I borrowed too. The bedroom was quaint, a full size with light linens but you won't get cold. And the bathroom was your regular bathroom with towels, wash cloths, beach towels & a few extra toiletries if you forget shampoo. The shower was around the corner - outdoor & functional, there was some more extra shampoo etc there left from previous guests which came in handy. The cottage had air conditioning if you wanted it, you shut all the doors & windows and turn it on but it was really unnecessary. When the windows are open, there's a lovely breeze & you can hear the sounds of nature (if you're into that). Other things on the property- Ms. Kimmy's garden is woven throughout the property if you need fresh aloe or whatever's in season she may have some fruit you can try. I was happy with the aloe. You can walk down the hill to the dock that overlooks the bay & you can swim around that safely. She has kayaks you can borrow to go down the coast and lots of snorkeling gear to take with you on beach adventures too. Her place is within walking distance of Gregory Town which has some great local restaurants & a 7/11 for basic needs. I went during the off season so not everything down there was open but I had everything I needed. Ms. Kimmy took the absolute best care of me, if I needed anything she had it, got it, or knew someone who could recommend something. I'd highly recommend staying with her for a quiet get away from the fast paced life of the city.”
This beachfront eco Cottage is located on the Atlantic coastline of Eleuthera. The cottage is a 10 minute walk to the world famous Surfer's Beach. The quaint and authentically Bahamian Gregory Town is 2 miles to the North. All of the photos on this listing have been taken at ShoreBreak cottage. Recently built and authentic cottage, vaulted exposed beam ceilings, 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, sleeps 4. Ideal for 2 couples or make it a romantic and private getaway for two!
“Shorebreak is a little sanctuary on a wild little island. Location is good near to Gregory Town, though be aware that nothing is walking distance from the cottage. The kitchen had the supplies for making basic meals, we made toast in a frying pan and boiled water on the stove. As a warning for those looking to stay longer, there's not much storage space for dry food, we were there for 11 nights (and with a 6yo) so this was a bit of an issue for us, but would be fine if it were just a few nights or mostly fridge food. Another tip for those staying longer than a weekend would be to bring small bin bags and toilet rolls from home, these things are expensive on the island and only starter provisions are provided. Beds were really comfy and sleep quality was good too, had no problems with the solar batteries though it was only March so not super hot at night, necessitating AC. We loved eating breakfast on the deck, listening to the waves, and star gazing at night (wrapped up to save being bitten!). I loved falling asleep to the sound of the sea, it was wonderful. We got down to the secret beach nearly every day except the first couple (ragey sea), you just have to be aware of the tides and go when it's low. An important piece of general Eleuthera advice for first timers (like we were!), I'd say that although the North airport is nearer to the cottage, fly to Governor's Harbour because then the Glass Window Bridge being shut won't cause you problems. We were stuck North of the bridge for 5 hours and the provisions are not reliable for getting people across, we were incredibly lucky to be rescued by a chance meeting, but it's just not worth the risk!”
Apartment Atlast 1 bedroom apartment , kitchen and living room area , bathroom,CableTV, WiFi , Bluetooh speaker with covered porch and private deck, just a path onto the Beach. This apartment is unique for a couple or two friends or if your traveling alone.
“We had a fabulous 2 week vacation at TeeJays “Atlast” apartment. It was our first visit to Harbour Island which has a charming historic town and stunningly beautiful beaches. “Atlast” is essentially on the beach (there is nothing but foliage between the apartment and the beach). The ocean can be viewed and heard from the bedroom balcony and the side deck. In addition, the tropical gardens that surround the home are gorgeous. Sitting on the deck with our morning coffee and watching the tropical birds was an unexpected treat. The apartment was perfect for 2 people and very comfortable. TeeJay was the perfect host. She was quick to respond to questions and eager to offer help, tips, & suggestions. We did take advantage of the free beach chairs & umbrella at her rental stand which is just over a mile away (walkable on the beach if you’re inclined). She whips up tasty tropical drinks & food at her stand. She also provides beach chairs on the more secluded beach at the apartment. Really nice to have both options! Apartment “Atlast” and Harbour island was a great find. We hope to return next year!”
