Holiday rentals in Ilhote das Ratas

“Great family with vibe of summer camp. You are happy to be a part of this incredible space and feel sad when your stay comes to the end”. This is how I’d summarise my experience at Casa de Magdalena. This is a sign for everyone who is considering to stay at hostel, but still hesitant - you absolutely have to try this place. There is one downside to it though - it’s unlikely you’ll get any similar experience at other hostels. Thank you guys for making me feel right at home. Piece of my heart now belongs to Faro, Casa de Magdalena and incredible people (both staff and guests I’ve met there) ❤️ (For those who were looking for practical reviews - place is clean, very well maintained, staff is super friendly, make sure everyone is adhering to the rules to make stay comfortable for all guests and if it wasn’t enough you have pancakes for breakfast every day and it gives you opportunity to meet other guests, exchange your experience, find buddies to explore nearby places and so on)

A very cosy room close to the harbor and city centre. We really found the enthusiasm from our host just perfect. Very helpful and quick answers and of course very proactive. Recommended lots of places nearby, e.g. for dining. Totally worth it! This Airbnb is a real gem. Thank you for having us at your place, Filipe!

I was so delighted to discover this little sanctuary! The host was incredibly warm and welcoming - I felt truly looked after, especially when my bags were kindly carried upstairs on arrival. The space itself had such a homely, inviting feel. I only stayed briefly, as I arrived into Faro airport and headed to Lisbon early the next morning, but I wish I could have stayed longer. It’s also just a short and easy walk from the train station, which made everything super convenient. I really hope to return soon!

We stayed at the sunset room for two days and the apartment had everything we needed: Kitchen equipment, oil and herbs and even a sweet balcony with ocean view! The center is a bit further away (20-25 minutes on foot) but easy to walk to. The supermarket was very close (4 minutes on foot) and next to the apartment building was even a small portugesian Café. The contact with Susana was very friendly and helpful! She had good recommendations. :) Guests should keep in mind that the fan of the neighbours aircon is placed on the rooms' balcony. It is noisy and blows hot air on the balcony. We found it very helpful to have earplugs.

Very nice (and new) apartment, easy walking distance to the city center. Rather non-touristic neighborhood, two small cafes just outside. Sofia was super quick and helpful in the communications. When we had issues with noise from other apartments, she was quick and helpful to help & manage that. That said: there is some construction going on in the building right now (May 2025), if that bothers you, check with Sofia. But I assume this will be temporary and everything ready & quiet for the summer season. I also enjoyed the flexibility Sofia gave me with an early checkin and a late checkout. And her recommedations for tours and restaurants. Always happy to return!

Locatie is dichtbij het oude centrum en Capela dos Ossos. De kamer is netjes en heeft een groot terras met uitzicht over Faro en de zee. Fijne locatie en vriendelijke verhuurder!

I had a great stay at Cristina’s Airbnb in Olhão. The apartment was very clean, in a great location close to local attractions and restaurants, and the terrace was a real highlight – perfect for relaxing in the mornings or evenings. Cristina was a fantastic host, and her positive attitude made the stay feel like home. She made the place feel really welcoming and was always friendly and helpful. Her recommendations for food and things to do in the area were genuinely useful, and she was quick to respond to any questions I had. Overall, a perfect place to stay and I’d definitely recommend it!

We had moved from another more remote town to Faro so this stay was just for one night but, Filipe was super communicative, responsive, flexible, helpful and made us feel very welcome. We were running late because of uber pick up but Filipe was very understanding. We only had a small issue finding the building because we didn't have the door number so remember to ask for that! We were shown around by the charming, warm and fun Filipe. The room was cosy with balcony and it felt like a home away from home! We met Filipa a bit later with their gorgeous children - again such a lovely, engaging and chatty person. The location is perfect for Faro town centre and the bus terminal. It's about 20 mins or so by taxi to Faro intl airport (cost around 15/16 euros) so super convenient. We were just gutted we didn't have more time to get to know our hosts who give off such "good vibes". We will definitely not hesitate to book again in the future.
