The George Cabin - Kawau Island

A perfect island getaway! Kawau Island -1 hour drive from Auck to Sandspit, a 40 min boat ride to Smelting House Bay. 'The George' is a 5 minute walk from Lidgard Wharf. Come by ferry or your own boat. The George is set amongst the ferns & native flora, getting late morning sun. See wekas and wallabies on your walks. Peaceful and quiet - with microwave, bench oven and fridge. We also have Kawau Cabins (1, 2 and 3) and a sleep out...sleeping 12 total. Sorry - no pontoon berthing avail.

Our space is great for travellers who enjoy wineries, cafes, beaches, walks, a boutique cinema, Matakana market on Saturdays, Morris and James pottery and the variety of places to visit and explore within easy distance. Nearby is the ferry for a day at Kawau Island. The downstairs studio is private but we are close by and pleased to help and chat if you choose. Warkworth has large grocery stores and shopping but we have an adequate shopping centre and local pub within walking distance.

Braemar Cottage is a fully self-contained spacious unit in the lovely Snells Beach. It has a gorgeous ocean view over Kawau Bay. Snells Beach is about an hour's north of Auckland and perfect for a quiet relaxed getaway. There are plenty of things to do nearby from visiting charming country cafes and wineries, or shopping at the local farmer's markets, or even taking a day trip to explore Kawau Island. If you want to explore or relax closer to the cottage, the beach is only 500m away.
