The Little Red School House Bed & Breakfast

Get back to nature and enjoy the peace and quiet of our country getaway in the historic "Little Red School House", just 30 minutes inland from Oamaru. Our B & B is located on our 940 hectare family farm which we run sheep and beef cattle on. The farm is situated over 400m above sea level so has panoramic country views. An early morning or evening walk is amazing for taking in the sunrise or sunset. We are happy to pick up people travelling on the Alps to Ocean Trial. Breakfast included.

Round Hill Cottage/ stay on a farm close to Oamaru

Our gorgeous wooden cottage is available for self-catering breaks and stands by itself with fantastic views. The bedroom sleeps two persons (Queen Bed). The cottage has an en-suite bathroom. The kitchenette contains all essentials - a two cooking plate, microwave, fridge/freezer, toaster and all cooking utensils. Sit on the sofa or armchair with a glass of wine and enjoy the charming scenery. When the sun is shining, open the patio door or sit outside and enjoy the unspoiled views.

Our tranquil ocean side retreat, overlooking a tidal reef, is conveniently located a 15 minute drive to the famous Moeraki boulders, a 40 minute drive to the historic town of Oamaru and just 10 minutes to Palmerston for shopping . Shag Point Retreat offers private gardens, a unique base for exploring and also a quiet respite “off the beaten track”. Close by a wide sweeping sandy bay. Or head to the Conservation reserve, a 10 minute walk - coastal views, seals and bird life abounds.

Spacious, comfortable and modern 1 bedroom unit with ensuite. A 2nd DETACHED room as an additional bedroom is available (see photo, fees apply) The cottage is equipped with microwave, stove top, toaster, kettle and basic utensils to prepare a simple meal. Private, delightful garden & decks facing the sun. Outdoor seating provided. Your well behaved, house trained dog is welcome to stay. Built in 1882, the cottage has undergone a full restoration of the interior and now offers luxury accommodation. We are close to local shop, village pub, cafe, park (inc children play area), museum, information centre, tennis courts, Naseby Forest Recreation Area, swimming dam. Don't forget Naseby as a fantastic dark skies location!!
