Kid-friendly holiday rentals in Loch Awe

We have just got back from a fantastic week at The Barn in Ardfern. Cameron’s dad Phil lives nearby and he gave us lots of good tips for places to see. He was also a lovely friendly person to chat to. The Barn is very private and peaceful. Inside it is fantastically designed, comfortable, with everything we could need - a beautiful kitchen, crisp white bed linen, lovely bath and shower, and nice milk, biscuits and wine to welcome us. Places not to miss are Arduaine garden, Crarae garden, Ardmaddy garden and Crinan canal for walking or cycling. Lucy’s in the village was lovely for breakfast, lunch or coffee & cake. Just five minute walk up the hill near The Barn is a splendid view on the surrounding Lochs. We also went to Iona (book ahead with CalMac or West Coast Tours) - it was great getting the bus between ferries rather than driving. The ferries get very booked up at this time of year. Altogether we could not have asked for a lovelier week- thanks so much Phil Abi and Cameron.

Toms Haus ist ein schönes und gemütliches Haus. Wir haben uns hier sehr wohl gefühlt. Die Ausstattung war wie beschrieben und für vier Personen (zwei Paare) mit zwei Doppelbetten perfekt. Das Haus ist groß und gemütlich eingerichtet. Besonderes Highlight sind neben der tollen Lage in der Nähe der Innenstadt von Oban die vielen Vögel, die man vom Haus aus beobachten kann. Auch ein Reh und rote Eihhörnchen konnten wir beobachten. Im Vorfeld habe ich gute Tipps für Restaurants und Unternehmungen bekommen. Billy war sehr freundlich und herzlich und hat uns auch vor Ort noch einmal tolle Tipps gegeben! Alle Zimmer waren in einwandfreiem Zustand und sauber. Ich kann die Unterkunft sehr empfehlen und würde sie jederzeit wieder buchen! Danke für die schöne Zeit!

Nous avons passé un excellent séjour dans ce logement. Tout était propre à notre arrivée. Nous avons apprécié l'emplacement et le calme des lieux, loin des bruits de la ville. Il est proche de la ville d'Oban pour faire les courses et des activités. Nous avons aimé voir des animaux dans le pré, devant le balcon (lièvres, chevaux et oiseaux). Le lit était très confortable. Le logement etait bien équipé. Jo et Rory ont été très accueillants et soucieux de notre bien-être durant le séjour. Nous n'hésiterons pas à revenir si nous revenons dans la région.

We had a great stay at Peter’s place. Plenty of room for everyone and nice and clean. Cozy yet lots of creaky house noises if you have light sleepers. Easy access to Inveraray attractions and a great jumping off point to other highland gems.

La promesse de la vue était fabuleuse et nous avons pas été déçus. Si vous recherchez un endroit paisible et isolé, c’est l’endroit parfait. Il n’est pas parfaitement placé si vous cherchez les endroits touristiques à visiter mais le lieu se suffit à lui même pour quelques nuits et il est parfait pour se reposer et profiter du calme. Les chambres et pièces de vie sont très belles et bien décorées. Merci de mettre une belle maison comme ça à disposition.

One of the most beautiful places we have ever stayed - both the beauty of the surroundings and the house itself with gorgeous views and unique design and decor. Cozy living room with great view. Basically two master bedrooms. Great kitchen and dining room. Nice deck if weather permits. Close to railway walking path. I even caught four brown trout from shore just across the lake. Highly recommend!

I cannot thank Elizabeth enough for being such an attentive host! The most beautiful location and property! The pictures do not do it justice, it was stunning and so cosy! The perfect base for climbing Ben Nevis! Which we could see from the kitchen! Everywhere was so clean and tidy. Elizabeth answered all my questions, noithing was ever too much! It was such a nice touch leaving their hens eggs for us as well! Honestly we want to come back! 5 stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Lovely home, we had everything we needed, so cosy too. Everyone was very happy. Even better than in the pictures! Very peaceful surroundings on Loch Fyne, couldn’t ask for a better view- really wonderful. Ann is a kind, responsive and thoughtful host.

Loved the flat. It was immaculate and beautifully decorated. It was a very easy walk to both the train and the ferries. Would definitely stay here again.

This was a second visit to Oban, albeit planned with less than 12 hours notice. Elizabeth replied back IMMEDIATELY and we are so fortunate to have found this gem. After a very ill timed, wet and cold, boat ride to the islands…the flat was a wonderful reprieve. It warmed right up and with some coffee, tea and oatmeal that was generously provided, we were ready for round two of Oban.

Bright, airy flat, lovely high ceilings. Well equipped, we felt right at home. A short walk from the town centre with plenty of amenities. We really enjoyed our 3 night stay. We were also very grateful to be allowed an earlier entry.

Fantastic gardens!!!! Wonderful trails! It was fun to stay in the castle! We had a lovely visit. My favorite parts: walking the trails! Having coffee outside on the bench while watching the birds. Daily walks down the lane with the local kiddos! Hearing the river!

Loved this space. Right in the center of everything but not near anything loud. Loved being able to walk to everything in town. Also great place to just sit and relax and watch a movie. Would definitely stay here again.

We had a lovely stay; apartment was very nice, clean, modern and well equipped. Free on street parking and walking distance into Oban town centre. Scott was very informative, helpful and an excellent host. Would highly recommend, thank you!

Great local, walkable to all areas in Oban, even grocery store was a less than 5 min walk. Fantastic views of Oban bay. Apt had all the comforts of home. Comfortable beds and large rooms. Loved the extras such as fresh fruit, coffee and chocolates. Also great appliances.

My wife and I stayed for a while at this beautiful place. We absolutely recommend it here. So nice, clean, peaceful and beautiful. Geoff & Marie made us feel at home 🏡 the entire time. We will definitely be back again.

We had a lovely stay in Dunoon, it is a very quiet a peaceful place and we really enjoyed our stay. Paddy is friendly and helpful and her dog is beautiful and very sweet. Both beds were very comfortable, the shower was warm and powerful and the homemade bread was a great touch- we thoroughly enjoyed! Thank you again :)

We had an excellent stay at Cobblerview Apartment! The view was, of course, gorgeous - but the care that Carol & Don took in ensuring our stay was comfortable was greatly appreciated and made our experience especially enjoyable. The apartment is cosy and immediately inviting, with a sizable living room space and dining table positioned next to the window and looking out onto Loch Long. Though the view you have of the loch itself is expansive, we never felt as though we didn’t have enough privacy - aside from this window out onto the water, almost all of the natural light that filters in is through skylights. We never needed for utensils or utilities, Carol & Don provided a full range of crockery, cleaning supplies and towels It’s worth bearing in mind that as this is a waterfront property, the bugs are in abundance around summer and you’ll need to have your spray on if you want to sit out on the balcony this time of year!

We wanted a great view of the waterfront and skyline. The outlook from this apartment is superb, and coupled with the quality of the accommodation, it really was the perfect choice. The listing is entirely genuine and accurate, and if you are looking for a special restful retreat in Oban, this is the place. Easy for access to all amenities in Oban and of course the ferry if you’re taking in Mull & Iona like we did. Perfect test at the end of the day sitting watching the view from the magnificent bay windows in the lounge. We watched the sun go down and each morning looked out again at the peaceful outlook. Amazing place and great comms from James the host was very helpful throughout our booking process.

The location was absolutely pristine with the most breathtaking views from every window. We slept so well! Jill and Simon were so proactive and easy to communicate with. we felt very welcome and loved our stay!

Great place to stay for exploring the more rural parts of Scotland. Beautiful, unspoiled countryside. the rain we had just enhanced the beauty of the mountains and rivers. The flat had amazing views from the window. it was very comfortable and had everything we needed. We would certainly recommend it to friends.

Lovely setting, amazing views, over the loch, good communication from host before and during our stay well presented and clean housed 5 of us comfortably with extra space. Would definitely stay again if we were in the area.

Sehr schöne und moderne Unterkunft mit traumhaftem Blick auf das Wasser – besonders bei Sonnenuntergang ein echtes Highlight! Die Wohnung war makellos sauber, stilvoll eingerichtet und sehr gut ausgestattet – es hat uns an nichts gefehlt. Die Lage ist ruhig und gleichzeitig gut angebunden, sodass man sowohl entspannen als auch Ausflüge in die Umgebung unternehmen kann. Auch der Kontakt mit dem Gastgeber war unkompliziert und freundlich. Ich kann diese Unterkunft uneingeschränkt weiterempfehlen – vielen Dank für den tollen Aufenthalt!

Als je naar Oban gaat, is dit echt een geweldig appartement om in te verblijven. Zeer ruim (nog groter dan op de foto’s lijkt), brandschoon en op de beste locatie in de stad. Heel mooi uitzicht, een ruime keuken met alles wat je nodig hebt in een prachtig authentiek gebouw.
