Isla Mujeres – the English translation means “Island of Women”. Only 4.3 miles long and 2130 feet wide (with a population of about 15,000 people), this island is considered one of the most idyllic spots in the Caribbean.
Only a 20 minute ferry ride from Cancun, the island will capture you the moment you step ashore. You will be welcomed by the locals and very quickly feel the peaceful, slow-paced rhythm (cadence) of the island.
Downtown or El Centro is abuzz with lively restaurants, bars, entertainment and shopping. Five minutes away is one of the Caribbean’s most beautiful beaches in the world. North Beach or Playa Norte has soft white sand, dazzling turquoise waters and a shallow shoreline, perfect for small children.
Snorkeling, deep sea diving, wind surfing, sailing, jet skiing, parasailing and fishing are a few of the water activities available. As part of your island experience, visit the Dolphin Discovery, the Turtle Farm and Hacienda Mundaca. Golf carts, mopeds and bikes are available for rent; taxis are abundant.
