The cottage is located on the banks of the clear Marukawa River. Gifu is famous for Shirakawago and Hida Takayama, but Enbara is also a nice place in the mountains, although it is inconvenient. The scenery of the mountains and rivers is beautiful, and it is a place rich in nature where monkeys and deer appear. The Enbara River is known as the most beautiful underground water in Japan and a famous spot for its light, and the inn is located about 800 meters from the spring water point of the underground water, so the water transparency is excellent. You can also see the light from the inn. On summer mornings, depending on the weather conditions, you can see a magical view of the sunlight pouring through the trees. The water in the Marukara River is cold, but in summer the children play in the river energetically. The riverbed is much cooler, so people can escape the heat and cool off. A little downstream there are several river play spots, and the water is clear everywhere and it feels good to swim beautifully. The water of the river shines emerald green in a slightly deep place, and the scenery of rocks and moss is also wonderful, and it is a healing spot where the mind is purified. There is a deck facing the river on the second floor of the inn, so you can relax while watching the river, BBQ, swing in a hammock while listening to the river, or refresh yourself in the tent sauna.

There is a firefly spot nearby, and you can also find them on the premises. 　There is also good access to major tourist destinations in Fukui Prefecture, such as the Dinosaur Museum, Ski Jam Katsuyama, Eihei-ji Temple, Tojinbo, Shibamasa, and the Sand Dome. 　There are no restaurants, supermarkets, or drug stores nearby. Shushu is a renovated building that was a beloved clinic in the local area, mainly in Yokohama, Tsuruga City. During the war, a doctor who was working in Manchuria, when he returned home after the war, responded to the passionate request of the locals to open a clinic in this land where medical care was not sufficient, and opened the clinic. The locals were involved in the construction, for example, the men cut down and transported the trees from the mountains, the women carried the soil by hand, and the gardeners created a garden centered on a large pond to make the doctor's stay comfortable. It was a loving place created by the whole village. Later, transportation was developed, and when its role was over, it was considered for dismantling, but the owner of Akari was called upon to renovate it into its current form.

Our guesthouse is in a beautiful mountain village, near to it are pristine forests with beech trees and an ancient mountain path that was used to carry sea products from Japan sea to Kyoto in old days. In front of the guesthouse runs a stream that is a source of Lake Biwa and its water is crystal clear ; in early summer nights many fireflies fly over the stream. In winter, we have a lot of snow ; sometimes it reaches 2 meters from the ground! On clear nights you can enjoy the sky full of stars.

This place used to be one big guesthouse, but during Covid19, I have stopped running the guesthouse and I moved in with my wife and 2 kids. Still I didn't want to give up so I left the good parts.
