Kid-friendly holiday rentals in Monteverde

This place was absolutely perfect for what we needed for our family of 4. Our boys are teenagers and were fine sleeping in the room separate from the house. Everything was as expected and communication was great. Views were gorgeous as described. One of our most favorite stays in Costa Rica.

Close to many attractions. Walkable to town but very dark and hilly, but with adult children this was very doable. Town was cute w many souvenir shops, coffee shops, bakeries and restaurants. House very comfortable and spacious.

The accommodation is very cozy, spotless, and perfectly equipped for a relaxing stay in Monteverde. We were especially amazed by the breathtaking view — absolutely stunning! The self check-in with the key box was very convenient, and communication with the hosts was always friendly and quick. We can highly recommend Carbell House and would love to come back anytime. We absolutely fell in LOVE with the charming town of Monteverde and Jarvey and Flors place was the perfect location to rest our tired bodies!!!!! We loved the adventurous road leading to the house and the quiet peace and tranquility that awaited us! We arrived to find a basket of goodies including fresh pineapple and banana, chips, cold water, fresh local bread, cheese, and jam, and champagne! Jarvey was so kind and responsive and checked in on us personally a couple of times! We exchanged a lovely hug upon departure and I'll be forever grateful for their kindness and hospitality! The house itself is immaculate and cozy and the hot tub and patio couldn't be any more peaceful and beautiful! The views were amazing and the birds and flowers and bumblebees were the perfect addition to the serenity. The wifi may be a bit spotty, but we actually enjoyed that part! We cozied up in fluffy blankets on the couch and totally enjoyed our stay! Thanks again Jarvey and Flor!!!!!

What a gem above the clouds of Monteverde! Tobi and his family have created an amazing place to getaway and enjoy the mountains. There was so much wildlife and the accommodations were super comfortable and quiet. Tobi’s family’s restaurant is “Stella’s” (just down the mountain) and it is awesome as well. Tobi had excellent recommendations and connections. He is super helpful and friendly. My only regret is that we couldn’t stay longer. Next time…!

The back deck was spectacular and really became part of our trip. We saw lots of birds, including Toucans, and even Agoutis. My only real complaint had nothing to do with the house but rather the road beside it which was busy with motorcycles and other vehicles at night and in the morning.

The house is beautiful, very large and has everything you need. The kitchen is well equipped, the bathrooms are very nice with lots of light and the terrace is also beautiful, with a view directly into the forest. Heather is a great host and gave us lots of tips for the area, communication was flawless. The location of the house is great, it's super close to all the activities of Monteverde. You should know that it is possible to encounter some insects (sometimes in the house) due to the proximity to the forest. If that doesn't bother you, this is the place to be!

Everything was WONDERFUL at Jan’s Finca Aquarius. The place, the apartment, the surroundings, the animals, the food and Jan himself ! This place & the experience are breathtaking. We will never forget it. We didn’t have any words to describe it! Thank you 🤎

This was a beautiful place to stay!! Check in was easy, communication was great, and Diego was very helpful with an issue beyond their control (the water was turned off due to road construction, but they called the company promptly and water was restored almost immediately. The road was under construction while we were there, but they were making fast progress. We were able to get in and out without issues. Other reviews were very helpful (bring earplugs if you’re a light sleeper). We would stay here again!

Andrea is THE Best host I have ever had! She was always quick to respond with helpful and great recommendations. Her place was very comfortable for my family of 4 very close to everything Monteverde has to offer.

What we loved the most was the view, it was so cool seeing all the greenery from the window. Especially in the evening sunset was so nice, we t to sleep with curtains opens because so pitch black and what a beautiful view to wake up to. Adrian’s instructions for check in were so clear and he was very helpful with questions. The space felt very private and was peaceful. The space was surrounded by many food options and things to do. Super close drive to Monteverde Cloud Forest. I will say the drive up, the road leading to the space was a little rough, but that’s out of his control as it’s a gravel/rocky public road, but easy to drive.

Jorge & Myriam were wonderful hosts, and the “Monkey Haven” was perfect. It was peaceful and lovely to be a little off the beaten path. The beds were comfortable, the views beautiful and their recommendations for what to see around town were above and beyond.

Yesenia and her son are wonderful hosts. We were warmly greeted by her son upon arrival and immediately felt welcome. The accommodation corresponded exactly to the photos and the description – everything was very clean and well maintained. For a short stay, everything necessary was available. The location is a bit outside the center, but pleasantly quiet. Everything was easily accessible with your own car. We felt very comfortable and can definitely recommend the accommodation.

We really enjoyed our stay at Fresia's place. It was a treat having actual hot water in the kitchen sink and the shower, something that we'd realized was not always the case in Costa Rica. It was a bit of a challenge to find which specific villa we were in, and how to get in once we arrived, but part of that challenge was that I hadn't read the check-in instructions I'd received until I got there, and they basically said "Reach out to your host for check in instructions". But Fre responded to my messages, told me which specific villa it was, and sent someone to help us access the villa. Fresia's assistant/property person, Anna, was extremely helpful with issues and local info/recommendations. The place is very nice; gas stove (had to go outside to turn the propane tank on initially), big fridge, comfy beds, nice sheets and towels, lovely tile floor, very spacious, lots of good stuff about the place. Very peaceful location. I would stay here again.

The stay with Marcela was great. The place was very nicely decorated, there were even a few board games ready. The view of the rainforest was just beautiful.

The place is super centrally located and offers everything you need. There is a parking space right outside the door, and shopping is right around the corner. We were even able to check in very early because our health was not doing so well – that was a great help. The flexible extension of our stay also worked out great. Veronika is a great host and offered us her translation support when we had a medical incident. Thank you for everything!

We had everything we needed and we didn't miss anything. The place is very quiet - secluded from the main road. Some storage space would have been nice but was not disturbing. There was also enough equipment for cooking, even if some things are outdated. All in all, you really can't complain - this is complaining to a high standard.
