House holiday rentals in Mount Desert

Me and my friends loved this BNB!! The hot tub was amazing and the pool was an awesome addition. Instructions were clear and even called to walk me through everything. Plenty of places to sleep and loads of places to go!

The house was perfect for us. Very clean and organized. Great host always responded in a timely manner. Was only about a 30 to 40 minute drive to Acadia National Park & Bar harbor, depending on traffic it could take longer. If we ever make it back to Maine I would definitely stay at the Higgins Retreat again. Thanks again Richard & Tina.

this was the 3rd time our family has stayed,again we had a fantastic time! We chose to return due to the great space, a fabulous indoor pool, great kitchen and an amazing view. Great attention to details, comfortable for large families or groups and peaceful for just 2.

We felt like at home. The house is located in a private property with swimming pool and tennis courts. It’s very clean and very peaceful. Just a clarification about the description : there’s no bathroom in the basement. Then if you come with elderly people or very young kids, it could be annoying. If you like cooking, the kitchen is very well equipped. We´ll keep a very good memory of our stay in Ducktrap Retreat during the colorful foliage season.

My return visit to the Boathouse was even lovelier than I hoped it would be. The location can't be matched by anything else I've seen. I enjoyed a September visit with my dog and was lucky to have pristine weather. I lived a very simple and healthy outdoors life and came home the better for it. The Boathouse is true to its description: it is simple and rustic and uncomplicated but well-equipped, and is perfect for one-and-dog, or for two people. A little coming-and-going from the neighboring houses meant that I didn't feel isolated. Margaret is truly an exceptional and friendly host who communicates promptly and clearly. I almost hesitate to share "my" Boathouse location with too many of my back-home friends because it feels so intimate and special. I already want to be back there. I offer my deep thanks to Margaret and to the place that I could - briefly - call home.

If you’re looking to stay in Bar Harbor, this is the place! We felt very at home during our 1 week stay and walking to and from downtown Bar Harbor was easy and accessible. The house is also a 8 minute walk to the nearest grocery store so cooking your own home made meal was simple. We would definitely recommend this place to our friends and family and would stay here again!

I recently stayed with my family at this incredible Airbnb that exceeded all my expectations. This property offered a hot tub, a pool table, and a level of privacy and tranquility that made for a truly relaxing getaway. One of the highlights of our stay was being able to watch the northern lights from the hot tub – it was absolutely magical. We spent a week in Acadia, and the location was perfect, just 15-20 minutes from Bar Harbor or the nearest town. The hosts were very responsive, and the place was fantastic for families, being both kid and pet friendly. It was a week filled with unforgettable moments, and I can't recommend this place enough!

If you're looking for a bt of peace and solitude, away from the hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor this is the place! We thoroughly enjoyed the authentic feel of this multi-level house with decks and a screened porch overlooking the MDI narrows. Bald eagles, loons, gray and harbor seals and porpoises kept us entertained in he evening off of the shared dock space. Bar Harbor was a quick drive away for dinner and ice cream, and plenty of hiking to be had in the park during the daytime. We couldn't have been happier with the house and how quiet and relaxing we found it to be.

Beautiful, clean, fully-stocked home in quiet, peaceful area. Outdoor amenities (seating, fire pit, etc.) are perfect for gathering. Hosts are very responsive, friendly. This is the nicest airbnb I've ever stayed in.

My husband and I stayed in Treehome and used it as a base for visiting Acadia. We had an amazing trip. Treehome is in a quiet and secluded area on the quieter side of Mount Desert Island. The home was exactly as pictured, very clean and comfortable with everything we needed and zero clutter. It is close to all the beauty of Acadia and a quick trip to Bar Harbor. Ocean was quick to respond to questions and gave us great recommendations on hikes and things to do in the area. We would absolutely stay in this wonderful home again.

LOVED this place!! Clean, that’s a dealbreaker, and it was clean! Situated on 8 acres, peaceful, dog-friendly, cozy, just felt like home. Loved the bottle of wine and chocolates, that’s the way to a girls heart, after a clean place ofc. There were tissues in the bathroom, stocked kitchen, w &d, great lighting. There was this quilt and rug in the master bedroom that looked like I was sleeping at grandmas house. We had to drive everywhere, as this was not a walking rental, but totally worth it. Felt like the heart of Acadia. You have to drive to all the trails anyway. Would totally stay here again.

Erica was SO accommodating and helpful. She responded extremely quick anytime we messaged and gave us tips and recommendations. Her home is adorable and we really enjoyed being there. It had everything we needed! Only thing to note is that while her place is 20 minutes from Acadia’s entrance it is a big park so anytime we were going to a hike it did take more like 40 minutes to get to it, just worth a mention! Highly recommend her place!

We had a very pleasant experience. We appreciated the topographical map of Acadia, and the guidebook for hikes within the park. The insulated lunch box and freezer packs were also very helpful!

Rick and Karens place was an absolutely beautiful relaxing getaway. It was a perfect central point to all we had planned for the weekend. It was so peaceful, we had the chance to see a few very nice deer right out front as we watched the sunrise. I would highly recrecommend anyone to take advantage of this space. The house was spotless and provided anything you could need for a very relaxing getaway. I look foreward to returning.

What an amazing place! Caroline’s home was perfect for our family vacation. It had everything we needed and more. It’s on the quiet side of the island and an easy drive to all the great attractions. This home is a great place to gather family and just be together. Thank you for sharing your space with us Caroline. 10/10 would recommend a stay here.

We had a wonderful stay at this Southwest Harbor rental! The owners were welcoming, thoughtful, and responsive. The home met our needs and we had everything we needed. One thing to note is the laundry is in the basement so if you have mobility issues that could be an issue but the machines worked well and it’s always nice to be able to have clean laundry on a trip. One of our favorite things about this home was the giant tv and comfortable seating for movie nights after exploring the area all day. I would recommend this rental if you are interested in staying in a quiet and comfortable home on your trip to area!

From the very beginning of our booking process, Stephanie was absolutely incredible! We had a secret wedding elopement and Stephanie made sure that we had the best experience possible for the reception we had at her place. We set up tents outside for the dinner, and spent quality time with friends and family both inside, and outside by the fire. It was a memorable and unforgettable experience thanks to Stephanie and her beautiful home. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants a getaway close enough to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park, and needs some peace and quiet! Her home was absolutely beautiful, we had no complaints, just all great things to say! Cannot wait to come back here again next year! (: Stephanie was very responsive and so kind! John's place is absolutely beautiful and homey! The house has been totally renovated in the winter of 2025 and is very lovely, classy, on-trend in ways that make this seaside cottage feel so refreshed, current and relatable. And that's just the INSIDES! The deck overhanging the rocks to the shore is THE perfect place to hang out: start your day here with a mug of hot coffee. Have lunch and cocktails in the afternoon/evening while viewing the unspoiled, gorgeous bay. Nature and serenity are what this place is ALL about! Enjoy the total peace, privacy and happiness this home provides. It's a true gem!

We were struck by the beauty of the place from our first step into the Boat House! It was beautiful inside and out! We soaked in all the beauty by stargazing at night in the adirondack chairs, and catching the sunrise each morning! We loved the sound of the water lapping against the rocks, and the distant sounds of the lobster boats heading out to sea! We loved how close it was to the Schoodic Peninsula for hiking, biking, and enjoying the crashing waves at Schoodic Point, and it was a beautiful scenic drive to get to Acadia National Park on the Bar Harbor side! It is also so close to the hiking up by Donnell Pond. We couldn't get enough of the place and will surely be back!

Everything was clean and just what I expected from the listing. It was a great location in relation to Acadia National Park. We enjoyed staying in more secluded spot, but we could easily drive into the busier Bar Harbor area. I highly recommend staying at Hannah’s place!

Slice of heaven indeed! I had such a wonderful stay with my pets. It was perfectly located to get to hikes and town, but still enjoy some peace and quiet. Loved the fenced in yard and all the dog friendly touches 🫶🏻 Will absolutely stay again in the future

Our stay was amazing! We absolutely loved how close the home was to Bar Harbor, yet far enough away to feel a sense of privacy. We especially loved the walk across the street to the water. We were able to watch the sunrise and sunset… amazing!

I loved staying at Mike’s place. It was tranquil, spacious, clean and convenient to the park and all that Mt Desert Island has to offer. The space was perfect for our party of four friends. I’d love to return and spend more time on that fabulous porch.
