This very small, compact cottage is in a rural setting, off the beaten path. It is about a 12 minute drive to Middlebury where you can find shops, restaurants and Middlebury College. Burlington is about 40 minutes north of where we are located. Hiking/skiing in the Green Mountains, fly fishing in the nearby New Haven River, boating/swimming on Lake Champlain, and enjoying the many local craft breweries and wineries are some of the many activities you have access to from this beautiful spot.

This is a spacious guesthouse/retreat where you can relax and unwind. There are great views and walking down the road is serene, with open fields bordered by woods and teaming with wildlife. In the winter you can Nordic ski or snowshoe right outside your door, through fields and woodland paths down by an active sugar-bush. We currently have chickens as well as my friendly dog Annie who loves to play. We also have a young kitty named LB who is a pip.

It was a wonderful home for our family to gather and celebrate my daughter’s recent graduation from Middlebury College. I just wish we had discovered Kathryn’s house before now, as we would have frequented the place on the many trips we made to see our daughter. If you are coming to the Middlebury area to see family or just to take in all that Middlebury has to offer, we would highly recommend The Birch at Barnum Hollow.

This was the best Airbnb I have ever stayed in. My boyfriend and I came in the middle of June and it was just wonderful. The cabin is so beautiful, I love the unique layout, the outdoor space is perfect. The place was clean and had everything we needed. I can’t say enough good things about it. Linda was super helpful and responsive and made sure that we could contact her if we needed anything (which we didn’t because it was perfect) My boyfriend and I agreed we would stay here every weekend if we could. Will definitely be back!!!!!

David and Hannah have created a perfect Vermont getaway. The studio is stylish, spotless, and full of thoughtful touches. Bristol is a charming location with easy access to everything Vermont offers. The hosts are kind, responsive, and truly care about the guest experience. From the comfy bed to the well-appointed kitchen, everything was just right. We'll absolutely be back!

Outstanding! Agree with all previous 5 star reviews. Mary & Luis poured love, creativity and talent into this house and it’s a treasure. Immaculately clean, perfectly appointed and so peaceful. The eat in kitchen was a delight. We shopped at the local co-op and made all our meals at the house. Real live plants inside and a sweet garden outside, well chosen books, crisp white linens, lamps to read by, all new appliances, furnishings and fresh paint. Wow. What a treat.

Dutton’s place was perfect. We came for Middlebury’s commencement with our 6 year old and the location was excellent and quiet. Our son loved how cozy it was. The kitchen was really great to have on such a busy weekend. Dutton was super flexible and helpful too, letting us stay a few extra hours so our grad could finishing packing up her room. The bed was firm, just good to know. We all slept well. Absolutely recommend.
