this was such a lovely place especially for a bigger family . so much space for kids to play and they all had fun exploring on our walks. (so close to everything) place was very clean and fit us all without feeling over crowded . views were stunning . such a wonderful host very helpful . highly recommend a stay here my only regret was not booking longer . would definitely recommend .

An absolutely amazing place to stay — I wish we could’ve stayed longer. The house itself is stunning, so thoughtfully designed and beautifully built. The beach below is breathtaking, and being able to walk all the way to the shipwreck made it even more special. The tennis court is a rare treat and impeccably maintained — such a lovely surprise to have on-site. Truly a spectacular spot in every way.

He whare mahana he whare ataahua! What a beautiful home and awesome amenities were available at hand. Very clean. Grateful to stay thank you for having our whānau so we could attend a family wedding at a nearby Marae. Beds were comfy and the space was 100% and water pressure in showers was beautiful - great communication, friendly and hospitable. Love the outdoor space too. And the heater was wow! Opūnake is a beautiful wee place. We replaced the tv batteries and left some spares in lounge room drawer. Ngā mihi.

A slice of wild paradise! Our stay at Alan and Freya’s sanctuary was unforgettable. The place is beyond beautiful, tucked into nature, full of charm, and radiating peace. From the moment we arrived, we felt completely welcomed and at ease. The animals were an absolute highlight: two adorable alpacas, friendly pigs, playful goats (yes, we got to play with them!), chickens wandering around, it truly felt like a gentle farm haven. The cabin itself is stunning. The bed is super comfy, the indoor fireplace kept us cozy, and the shower with a view of the forest felt like something out of a dream. At night, we soaked in the hot tub under the stars, no connection, no TV, just stillness and nature. Absolute bliss. They even thought of the little things: a selection of games (we LOVED Banana Grams and Monopoly), thoughtful touches, and such kind, genuine hosts. Alan and Freya are beautiful souls, warm, welcoming, and inspiring with the way they’ve created this sanctuary. We had the best time
