House holiday rentals in Old Town

The house was perfect for us. Very clean and organized. Great host always responded in a timely manner. Was only about a 30 to 40 minute drive to Acadia National Park & Bar harbor, depending on traffic it could take longer. If we ever make it back to Maine I would definitely stay at the Higgins Retreat again. Thanks again Richard & Tina.

This was one of the most memorable places I have ever lived at! The property is huge, well maintained and just a perfect getaway spot with the right amount of amenities. Will definitely recommend this place 10/10 to anyone visiting Acadia National Park.

We had a wonderful stay at John’s place, house was clean, comfortable, and stocked with everything we needed for a month stay. Private and beautiful surroundings, responsive and friendly host, and a great location to explore Maine and the upper east coast. Memories to last a lifetime! Would recommend anyone wanting to enjoy to coast of Maine to stay here and have a great time, so much to see and do. Thanks for sharing your home with us!

Booked this place for our anniversary to get away from the city for a weekend.. we found exactly what we were looking for! The hot tub was wonderful, the house was clean and cute, and we had everything we could have needed! Estelle was very responsive and gave clear instructions for everything. Would recommend this place for a quiet getaway or a small group trip in the summer!

My return visit to the Boathouse was even lovelier than I hoped it would be. The location can't be matched by anything else I've seen. I enjoyed a September visit with my dog and was lucky to have pristine weather. I lived a very simple and healthy outdoors life and came home the better for it. The Boathouse is true to its description: it is simple and rustic and uncomplicated but well-equipped, and is perfect for one-and-dog, or for two people. A little coming-and-going from the neighboring houses meant that I didn't feel isolated. Margaret is truly an exceptional and friendly host who communicates promptly and clearly. I almost hesitate to share "my" Boathouse location with too many of my back-home friends because it feels so intimate and special. I already want to be back there. I offer my deep thanks to Margaret and to the place that I could - briefly - call home.

We had the most amazing week at Adam and Lauren’s place! I truly cannot say enough about how wonderful it was. The house was and cozy inviting- we felt right at home. And it had absolutely everything we could have possibly needed. All of the furniture was incredibly comfortable, and we slept amazingly in the king sized bed. But what made this place shine was the outdoor space. First, it is nice and private, separated from all the neighbors by trees/patches of woods. But beyond the privacy, the hosts have put so much attention into making it outstanding with all the amenities you could want on vacation- an amazing hot tub, a lovely little lounge space, a tent to get out of the sun or rain, a grilling area, AND a pool?! PLUS a separate, fully fenced space for dogs?? AND THEN it’s only 20 min to Bar Harbor?! It’s got it all. Truly. If you are considering booking this place, do not hesitate for one second. It is the PERFECT Acadia getaway. And Adam and Lauren are great, attentive hosts!

Book this historic home immediately! As you soon as you walk in, you will feel right at home. Everything you need for a family vacation is provided, from beach towels and picnic blankets to kayaks and everything you need to make a lobster boil. The bedrooms are so comfortable, the bathrooms are spotless, the kitchen is fully equipped, and the master suite is peaceful. We were 9 people and had plenty of room to enjoy each other's company and also retreat away for some quiet time. The house and the surroundings far exceeded my expectations and we had a fantastic stay.

Abigail’s place is perfect. Cozy, serene, and beautiful. You feel immediately at home when you walk in, the view from the windows is incredible. We enjoyed sitting out on the covered porch, looking out at the water, and watching for wildlife. The rooms were pristine and the pillows were beyond comfy. The addition across the kitchen was the ultimate place to lounge and relax - kid friendly too with day beds. We had a great experience and I can’t recommend this place enough. Our host left a couple of personalized touches which made the trip feel that much more special. Thank you Abigail for a great experience!

This house was perfect for a getaway to Bangor! Scott was a great communicator and answered all of our questions about the surrounding area. This house had all the comfort's of home, would highly recommend for anyone traveling in the area.

Miranda was an amazing host! I absolutely loved how clear, concise, friendly and responsive she was. If I had any questions or concerns, she answered within 10-30 minutes regardless of the time. My only gripe is how hot it was for the first two nights upstairs, which does not reflect Miranda. There was no ac unit upstairs, but they had manual units in the closets. I reached out to Miranda about installing one and she reached out to the owners of the house who declined my request unfortunately. There were fans which my guest and I used, but it was stillabnormally warm and uncomfortable to sleep for awhile due to the hot temperature upstairs.

Laura's place was newly renovated, clean, and peaceful. You can hear the river from inside the house when the windows are open. Even though it's on a main road, you can't see or hear traffic since it's set back from the road in a wooded area. Mattresses were very comfortable as well. There is a large mini split in the living room and fans in the bedrooms. The mini split cooled the whole house and in general the house stayed pretty cool even on hot days since it's in a wooded area. I highly recommend!

Kerri and her hosting for the place was great. If more than 5 star were available I would give her for sure. She was great. We felt right at home and had absolutely nothing missing. This is probably the 1st place we had stayed without ANY issues. Kids loved it - private, hassle free, early checkin possibility to late checkout. The lake was safe to swim and play by the pebbles, home was neat and clean. Items in kitchen were all up to the way I would keep at my home. You name it and the place had it. Thank you Kerri for having us!

We had a wonderful time. The house was beautiful, very clean and had everything we needed. I loved the reading nook in the master bedroom. The outdoor area was also very relaxing and quiet.

Our family had a wonderful stay at Brian’s lake house, which exceeded our expectations. The house was immaculate, spacious, and well-stocked with all essentials. The layout was perfect for our family. The peaceful lakeside location offered tranquility yet was conveniently close to Bangor for supplies and dining, with the airport just 15-20 minutes away. Day trips to Acadia, Bar Harbor, Camden, and even Portland were easy, always returning to our serene retreat. Brian was an exceptional host—responsive, welcoming, and provided great local tips. Having stayed at many Airbnbs, this ranks among the best. We’ll definitely return on our next Maine trip. Highly recommended for a peaceful lakeside getaway near Maine’s attractions!

The most beautiful decor inside and out. Felt just like home for 5 nights. Highly recommend this pristine cabin! There is a beautiful lake within walking distance, but we did not find any public access as far as beach/swimming or walking trails. Very peaceful quiet neighborhood. The cabin was just as described and even more! Loved our Maine vacation!

The home was beautiful, quaint and well stocked! The hosts were kind, responsive and flexible! The pond was large, clear and incredibly peaceful. Plenty of parking for a small group. We had a lovely time at this location and would be happy to return in the future.

This was a great place to stay. Everything was clean and orderly from outside to in. Worked out perfect for my family to enjoy the weekend. Plenty to do and explore. Our stay here was so much fun! Swimming, fishing, kayaking, there was so much to do and the water was awesome! It was the perfect place to stay to have your peaceful vacation being in a great neighborhood but it was still located close enough to places where you could go if you’re looking to get great food, or go into a nice town with other things to do. Ryan was such a great host he had so many great recommendations on what to do, and where to go nearby for everything! He really cared about your stay here and it showed, he went out of his way to make sure you felt comfortable and had fun during your vacation! He was so responsive and was there if you needed anything. We would recommend this place to stay to anybody, and would love to come back. It’s the perfect place to bring your kids and your dog and they provide so much to make sure you have fun while staying here!

We loved our stay, the house and property are beautiful and very peaceful. We loved fishing off the dock, using the 3 kayaks, fire pit, and hammock. There were plenty of beds and everything was very clean. There were clear instructions for everything.
