The wallpaper is a gray-toned Tosa Washi with Binchotan, and delicate Shoji paper is incorporated into the exterior openings, enveloping the space with soft light and shadows. The alcove is decorated with the calligraphy "River" by the artist Hatanowa Wataru, and the aesthetic is incorporated into every detail.
