Cob Cottage

Channel the pursuit of pause in this one-of-a-kind earth house. The cozy retreat was hand-sculpted using local and sustainable natural materials, and features a central living space with cantilevered slab stairs leading to the loft bedroom. Guests have access to the entire cottage and surrounding property. We live in the neighbouring house, and are happy to give advice or answer questions to help you make the most of your stay. The neighborhood is quite rural and mostly agricultural with several farms and a small private vineyard. The home is a 10 minute walk from the beach and a 20 minute walk from a family grocery and deli specializing in local organic produce. Mayne Island has a small community bus. Times and routes are limited, particularly in the winter. It will stop at the driveway. We also have an official hitch hiking system with signed Car Stops where you can wait for a ride. Usually you don't have to wait long. We are happy to offer pickup and drop off at the ferry dock as a courtesy to encourage car-free travellers, on days when the community bus is not running. Please let us know ahead of time that you'll be coming without your own transportation, and we will make sure that either we or the community bus (which will drop you off at our driveway) are there to meet you when your ferry arrives. The BC Ferries terminals near Victoria and Vancouver are easily reachable via public transit from their respective airports and downtowns.

A warm welcome awaits

Our charming bedroom has a queen bed, sofa, bistro table and chairs and is close to beach access at Southey Point as in our cover pic.The bathroom has a newly installed shower, washbasin and composting toilet. There is a closet and an outside deck space. Although the space doesn’t have a kitchen, there is a fridge, kettle, coffee maker and toaster for the convenience of our guests and continental breakfast items are provided. We look forward to welcoming guests to this idyllic part of the world.

Our tiny cabin is located on a 14 acres property in the middle of the woods. You will enjoy complete privacy and use of your own area on the land, including a pond. Located 2 min, from the Transcanada Trail, 20 min. walk to the Kinsol Trestle, a World Heritage Site with beautiful swimming holes right underneath the bridge. 20 min. to next Grocery store and 22-25 min to Duncan. Approx. 50 min- 1 hr to Victoria. Pottery lessons are available by request if you have always wanted to try it out.

This is a cosy cabin sits on seven acres of land with water access. It has a firewood stove and hardwood floors in the main part of the cabin - tiling the living room. The decor is country chic. The property is rural about 11 miles from any store but close to beautiful hiking trails, and has access to a staircase down to a deck at the water where we swim. We face Saltspring Island and the southern tip of Wallace - in fact it is just a kayak ride across Trincomali channel to Salt Spring.

We are located 10 mins. from town and also on the bus route. Situated across from Fernwood beach, walk to the pier and cafe. St. Mary's Lake is 2 min. drive around the corner. Sweet ocean view to Galiano. Enjoy the outdoor garden area, with patio table. Access to fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle, coffee maker. Coffee, tea and continental breakfast items. Itty Bitty Acres has been my most whimsical escape so far. It offered the perfect blend of tranquility and charm. Waking up to the gentle sounds of the mini donkeys and fluffy sheep just steps away was an absolute delight. It made the whole farm stay feel immersive and truly memorable. Bin and Lily were lovely hosts. We really enjoyed the fresh strawberries and conversation with Lily. Beds were very comfortable and we slept well. Bin communicated well and accommodations were very clean. The goats were super cute too.

Highly recommend this location. Gary and Annamarie were so welcoming! Great hosts. Lovely property, relaxing and beautiful views looking out on the water. Garden suite was quiet and peaceful, right next to the lovely garden. The amenities were a great bonus (hot tub, sauna, ice plunge and kayaking), used them throughout our stay. The home cooked breakfast was so delicious, fresh ingredients.Definitely going to miss having those everyday 😊. Especially the scones. Would stay here again. Thank you again for having us.
