Holiday rentals with a fireplace in Portobello

Melissa’s flat has been put together with so much thought, it is stylish, cosy, and comfortable. It is perfectly located to be walkable for all the main sites in Edinburgh and has lots of nice restaurants, coffee shops, and bars nearby (and Melissa provided a guidebook to help find the best spots). Melissa was incredibly accommodating and even arranged an infant cot for us. Would absolutely stay again!

We really enjoyed our stay! The cottage is very cozy and had everything we needed for a relaxing break. Our toddler especially loved exploring outside and had a great time running around the old Kirk next door. A lovely, peaceful spot—we’d definitely stay again!

Second time at Shiel and thoroughly enjoyed the stay once again. Beautiful setting and area, a short drive from neighboring towns if you need to buy supplies. The house has seen fantastic renovations since our last visit. The house is perfect for any large group that are looking for catch ups or family reunions. Highly recommended!

I have no word that truly captures this place. It is centrally located for folks who want to explore the highlands, lowlands and anywhere in between. The home was SO cozy and Maggie welcomed us like family, sharing her local knowledge of the best places to visit, great scenic routes to get there, and absolutely THE best restaurants around. The home had comfy bedding, a cozy living room complete with wood burning stove for those chilly nights, and a oversized tub to soak away the day. Maggie even had milk and orange juice in the refrigerator waiting for our coffee and tea. The scenery is second to none, surrounded by picturesque hills and a view of the Loch. I could stay here forever.

This beautiful home held everything we were looking for. The area is very walkable and peaceful. Kenneth was lovely to welcome us and we had everything we needed. Lovely stay!

The accommodation was as described in a quiet country location. It was well equipped with all items required for a relaxing break. Would highly recommend this house to spend a relaxing break.

Georgina’s place was really beautiful- it’s like an interior decorator had been at work! Just lovely. Every part of the cottage was stunning. Massive, well appointed kitchen, sitting room like something from a magazine and two beautiful bedrooms with very large en suite bathrooms. Again, beautifully decorated- really felt like a very up market boutique hotel. My sister said it was the best Airbnb she’d ever stayed in. Really lovely countryside all around and a great place to use as a base for our long walks. The fact you can bring your dog is so great. Close enough to Aldi to stock up but secluded enough to feel rural. Georgina was very helpful - had left milk, bread, eggs, jam etc for us. Such a lovely touch. I’d love to stay here again.

What stunning views and such a tranquil location. Loved our stay and hosts were so accommodating when we were a little late and they opened up for our grocery delivery driver! We are a family of four with a dog and loved using the enclosed garden, bbq and fire pit. Beds are comfortable and showers are super. Even the sofa bed is great! Would stay again. We loved staying in Dan and Alex's home! It had everything you could possibly need, spotlessly clean, tidy, loads if linen, towels etc. And the views from the lounge and kitchen windows were absolutely spectacular!! Also the WiFi and tv were excellent! Lovely walks along the beach and surrounding areas and beautiful sunsets! Also the town had good local shops and the locals were extremely friendly. If you needed a big shop, Kirkaldy was only just over 2 miles away with a large Morrisons and a Lidls across the road plus an Aldi's about a mile further on. The Kinghorn fish & chip shop directly up the hill from Barton Buildings was excellent, very reasonable and friendly staff! All in all, we'd definitely go back to Kinghorn and would recommend Dan and Alex's flat to everyone!!

We came up to Edinburgh for a couple of team days, it was great. A much nicer place to stay than a Z or hub and more reasonable prices! Momo was welcoming and the flat was perfectly appointed and an easy 10 minute stroll to Princes Street. I could definitely imagine staying again or coming back for a fun weekend with friends. We had a wonderful stay. It was peaceful and relaxing. Kitchen had everything needed, bed and sofa were very comfy and we loved the wood burner. We brought wood from the purple shop ( dog friendly and well stocked!) and had fires in the evening. Beautiful beaches in easy walking distance. we loved it and hope to be back :)

Yvonne’s place was perfect for a visit to Edinburgh. Location was close and walkable to the train station, sight seeing, shops and restaurants. Yvonne responded quickly when we had questions. She made sure we had everything we needed. She went above and beyond to make our stay wonderful. Highly recommend if you are planning a stay in Edinburgh.

This is a small flat that is completely updated. The host is PHENOMENAL! Genuinely concerned about your stay and tries to make everything convenient and pleasant. We stayed here with our daughter and her boyfriend. Apartment is extremely well appointed! Only downsides are the space is small / a bit tight for 4 adults. 3 minute walk from rail station is a plus, but front door and entrance are kind of grim. Apartment is one flight up and SO much nicer than the entrance - do not be discouraged!!!

Very cosy space and extremely well located in the older section of Edinburgh. Easily walkable to excellent restaurants and local attractions.

we have just left Howford house after a lovely 3 night weekend stay to celebrate my husbands 40th. we were a family of 14 adults, 2 children and a newborn baby and we had the most peaceful comfortable stay. the house is fantastic, it has everything you need and the location although super private and peaceful, it was near restaurants, the coop supermarket, Traquair House and land which we got discounted because we were house guests, and lots of walks and hikes. the surrounding acres were stunning with the frost and autumn leaves. we all loved our stay, the kids (and the adults) didn't want to leave. special thanks to Elaine the housekeeper who was brilliant with her communication and help. we will recommend and be back in the future.

Stayed here for 2 nights with 5 other adults - one of the best decisions! As a start, check-in was smooth. Everyone has their bed, towels which is great. Had to figure out the heater (our country is Summer all year) and Lukas was very responsive. This location is almost a straight drive to the city centre. With free parking at the location, it gave us great relief to know we won’t get penalised. Love this place! I would recommend this to others.

Very conveniently located at the gateway to Glasgow, Edinburgh and Highland. Three minutes driving away from the M74 with a Tesco Superstore at walking distance. Landlord is nice and responsive. While we only stay at the ground floor (the landlord’s parents live upstairs - super nice too) all used areas including the entrance are exclusive. It has three spacious bedrooms, one dining hall, clean, tidy and classic. Well maintained and equipped with everything for a family stay. The garden is beautiful and neighboring to an amazing farm with many lovely sheep and cows. We truly loved it!

Entering this well appointed, beautiful home, there is a feeling of warmth and relaxation. The skylights bring in the natural light to the bathrooms. The Kitchen is modern and sleek, with everything you need to make a first class meal. The visually stunning, spacious backyard has a wonderful garden. There is a park just behind the house. My daily jog would lead me down to the beach. Here i would do a quick cold plunge- rejuvenating my body. The area is surrounded by a world renowned collection of golf clubs. The Longniddry golf club is a short walk and is a fun track. Thank you for being great hosts.

Amazing house with lots to do. The room at the top of the spiral stairs was just a bit difficult to get into and out of, with low ceilings, and it gets warm up there. One more bathroom for that number of bedrooms could be nice... but it all worked out. It was pretty close to perfect for our family reunion. And it's great for hide and seek! We recommend it.
