Cosy, zen studio in the heart of Takaka village

Welcome to our garden property just 100m from the main Takaka shops. The studio is large and cosy with its own bathroom. You will enjoy privacy with your own deck but we are always around for a chat and love meeting new people. There are no cooking facilities (but we do have a fridge, kettle, toaster etc so you can enjoy your morning coffee and muesli etc). You are just two minutes stroll away from some truly great cafes and restaurants - The Wholemeal Cafe is our favourite, open 7 days.

Good accommodation in a great location. It is spacious, very well maintained and has everything what you need. The kitchen had even two good scissors. For some reason in most accommodation there are no scissors. We liked our stay a lot.

Ligar Bay is a fantastic spot, the changing tides provide so much diversity and interest - we kayaked, paddle boarded, walked and swam in the bay and at surrounding beaches and tracks. The house itself is very clean, with beautiful outlook and the garden is lovely. Furnishings and linen are very stylish and beds were comfortable. We found the lack of curtains/blinds a little challenging - there’s a skylight without a blind directly above master bed, one bedroom has no blind and the other had sheers, which provide privacy but no light. We love our sleep in holiday! We also missed having a dishwasher - some wouldn’t care. We appreciated all the pantry staples, great indoor and outdoor showers and water toys available for guests to use. A stunning place!

We had to wait due to a plumbing issue, however our host provided free barista coffees for the inconvenience (great coffee!). Milk, tea, coffee is provided, but no breakfast food, so be sure to pack some if you choose this cabin. We booked for 4, but felt the accomodation wasn’t quite set up for us, we had to set up and make the drop down bed, and only 2 towels were provided, but there were also 2 towels for the outside bath, so enough overall. We loved the fireplace, super cozy, bed linen was gorgeous, and the view of the beach was top notch. Overall, we love loved this stay, thank you so much!!

My stay at Ligar Bay was great and had everything I was looking for. The property had a private deck that was very relaxing to sit on while looking at the water. I found the house was warm and didn't need the heater even though it was cold outside. Would stay again.

I had a wonderful time here - such a beautiful location and my dog had a blast on the beach with Stella who was much better at bringing back sticks than him. And the shower is amazing!
