Protect your income
Earnings Protection insurance pays you when you can’t host because of severe weather, guest damage, power cuts and other reasons.
You’ll get your full coverage amount, based on your past earnings, for every verified and approved claim. No deductible, no booking requirements, no hassle. It’s insurance that picks up where others stop.
Earnings Protection is available for purchase in 45 US states and Washington, DC and will roll out by early next year in Indiana, Maine, Missouri, New Jersey and New York. Hosts need to meet eligibility requirements, which include having 5 or fewer listings with over 50 nights reserved on a listing in the past year.
When your earnings are covered
- Unexpected damage: Damage from weather, guests or other reasons results in repairs that’ll take at least 4 days.
- Power cuts: There’s no electricity at your place for at least 3 consecutive days.
- Lack of access: Closed roads or other restrictions make your place inaccessible for at least 7 days in a row.
- Severe weather: This includes a named tropical storm or hurricane that’s category 4 or higher at your property.
- Natural disasters: These include an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.5 or stronger, or a named wildfire of 15,000 or more acres that affects your property.
After a host in California, Gabby, signed up for Earnings Protection, a storm cut the power and closed the road to her place for a week. She received her payout quickly after her claim was approved. “We were highly sceptical, but this was seamless. From filing to payment was less than 2 weeks.”
How you get paid
- File a claim online.
- Get a response quickly.
- Review and complete a short form confirming your loss.
- Receive your full coverage amount in your bank account within a few days after approval.
Earnings Protection Q&A
Earnings Protection insurance is placed through STP Insurance Services LLC and offered by Airbnb Insurance Agency LLC. Coverage is subject to all terms and conditions of the policy, which we encourage you to read in full. Coverage for unexpected damage, access issues or grid failure applies when you can’t host for an extended time. For all claims, loss of income must be a direct result of a cause that’s not specifically excluded in the policy. Premiums vary by location and are subject to change.
Host damage protection isn’t an insurance policy and is subject to terms, conditions and limitations. It doesn’t protect hosts who offer stays in Japan, where Japan Host Insurance applies, or hosts who offer stays through Airbnb Travel LLC. All coverage limits are shown in USD. For listings in Washington state, Airbnb’s contractual obligations under Host damage protection are covered by an insurance policy purchased by Airbnb.
