This is a guest house in a 120-year-old house that was renovated with the concept of "nostalgic and new" in a town of Omi Hino merchants overlooking Mt. Mimaki in the Suzuka Mountains of Shiga Prefecture. Hino-cho's townscape is also nostalgic and heartwarming, In the corner of such a town, "Mt. Moiwa Village" was born in the first year of the Reiwa Dynasty. The accommodation is limited to one group. Storage site: The Western-style room can be used by 3 people, with 2 beds and 1 folding bed, and the Japanese-style room can accommodate 3 people with Japanese futons, for a total of up to 6 people. It features a Shigaraki stoneware bathtub (120 cm diameter) that only guests can use, where you can bathe with your family and children. The furniture is all "Calimok" furniture from the Hida industry, made from the Taisho to the early Showa period. This land with its old-fashioned townscape and famous water is hot in summer and cold in winter. But that's why the rice, vegetables, and meat are also delicious. To that end, I want many people to experience a nostalgic way of life and culture. Haruya Guesthouse

Our guesthouse is in a beautiful mountain village, near to it are pristine forests with beech trees and an ancient mountain path that was used to carry sea products from Japan sea to Kyoto in old days. In front of the guesthouse runs a stream that is a source of Lake Biwa and its water is crystal clear ; in early summer nights many fireflies fly over the stream. In winter, we have a lot of snow ; sometimes it reaches 2 meters from the ground! On clear nights you can enjoy the sky full of stars.

To ensure you enjoy the stay to the fullest, I set check-in and check-out time to both 12:00 Noon. So you can stay up for 24 hours with one night booking. YAMANOTE HOUSE is accessible from major Kansai stations with 37min from Kyoto Sta. or 65min from Osaka Sta. If you come by car from Kyoto it takes less than 1 hour. The area aournd the house is once small castle town. The house is located next to the Shrine, Hiyoshi-Jinja, where the Omizo Festival is held on May 3 and 4 every year.

This is the only guest house (entire house rental) facing Shinmachi Street in an Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings. The streets lined with merchants' houses, built in the late Edo period to the Meiji era, give you a strange feeling as if time has stopped when you step into it. This Shinmachi neighborhood is important not only for its scenery but also as a historical site. This is a very rare accommodation where you can stay in such an area.

Our guesthouse is located in the old town called Nara-machi. There used to be many traditional wooden townhouses known as Machiya. We restored Machiya while keeping the original structure in order to provide you with a traditional Japanese experience with local atmosphere.This house is for only private use and has only one floor with Japanese style room, shower room, washroom, sink and small garden.
