Places to stay in Ahoghill
This is a unique residence, designed by a leading architect, with everything you might need for a relaxing holiday, only 17 miles from Belfast Int'l airport. The house is rebuilt in natural stone with amazing views over lakes and mountains.
Combining the old and the new, this barn complex, newly rebuilt in natural stone has panoramic views of Lough Beg, the Bann valley, the Sperrin mountains, and Lough Neagh. A perfect rural retreat with the comfort of modern design and high speed wifi This recently converted barn is in a peaceful rural setting, only 17 miles by car from Belfast Int'l airport and 28 miles from the Belfast ferry terminals. The Giant's Causeway, the Antrim coast and Glens, with their long sandy beaches, are only 45 minutes away. Groceries, restaurants and bars are 3 miles away in Portglenone. Boating, sailing, canoeing, fishing, coastal walks and golf, and more, are all available within a few miles. Seamus Heaney, the famous poet, was born and lived nearby. For larger shopping and city experiences Ballymena is 7 miles away; Belfast 28 miles; Derry/ Londonderry 40 miles. Even Dublin is accessible within 2 and a half hour's driving, or by rail link from Ballymena and Belfast. The space comprises a new kitchen with cooker and microwave, large living area and loft with marvellous views over Lough Beg and the Sperrin Mts. The barn sleeps 2 in the loft with sleeping for 2 more on a large sofa bed in the living area below. A modern living room with full- height glass gable- end overlooking the Bann river valley, with tiled underfloor heating, sleeping loft, and bathroom. Hi-speed wifi (65 Mbs/sec). Separate kitchen and dining room with hot water on-demand. A private outdoor patio. Access to gardens and private car parking. Support is available as required, but the emphasis is on providing pleasant accommodation in a private retreat with contact only when required. We will provide telephone numbers in case you need assistance of any kind. A peaceful and tranquil site set among fields and open farmland with great views, comfort and relaxation. Tourist, outdoor and sporting amenities are a short drive away: when, and if, you want them. However, the landscape is what attracts most people to Northern Ireland. From this location everything is within reach. Lough Beg (4 miles ) is renowned for its bird life. For rainy days the Game of Thrones and Titanic Exhibitions in Belfast are easily accessible (40 miles). A car is strongly recommended. Though civilisation is close by, no public transport operates in this locality. However there are local taxi services for airport pick-ups and shorter journeys which link into the public transport services. The barn has it's own private car park which accommodates two large vehicles. Access to the adjacent kitchen and dining area is from a separate entrance. Tea and coffee- making facilities and a small fridge are also provided in the living area for additional convenience. Bed linen and towels are provided.
The house is in the countryside but villages (Portglenone and Ahoghill ) are only 3 miles away, with Ballymena and Antrim 7 and 10 miles away, and Belfast 30 miles away. the Giant's Causeway and the Antrim coast road is only 45-50 minutes away. Lots of restaurants and bars within easy reach: see guide in the living area.
  • A little piece of heaven! We were blown away by the spectacular views, the most beautiful sunsets and watching the stars at night while snuggled up in bed. Gerard and Tricia are wonderful hosts who go the extra mile to make your stay very comfortable. Everything we needed, clean, warm and cosy. Highly recommend a visit and this is one for the bucket list!

The house is perfect with everything we need, great view but most importantly, great hosts. Thank you again for part of our unforgettable norther Ireland experience.

  • I booked Gerard’s place for my son and daughter in law for the first two nights of their honeymoon. Gerard is a superb host and went out of his way to accommodate our various requirements. The property itself is marvellous, spotlessly clean, beautifully appointed and in a stunning but convenient location. The bottle of bubbly was much appreciated by the newlyweds too!

  • I had the single room and was completely satisfied! Kathleen and her family were more than nice, loving hosts and constantly striving for my well-being. So I was even driven to the supermarket once and got all the tips on request (which food to try, where to go, ...) In addition to coffee, tea and Co., there was even breakfast. Perfect is the bus and train station, which is 2 minutes on foot and from which you can get anywhere (Belfast, Coastway, Glenariff, ...) Kathleen gave me a link for the bus connections with which you can plan great. The house is very clean and cozy and when I felt like it I was invited to join the family. All in all a great stay that left nothing to be desired.

    Mirjam2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Kathleen's House was fantastic, I Stayed in the Single room, for One night and It was very comfortable and Clean. The bed was excellent, there was a laptop and desk I could use. You use the bathroom on the lower floor, the bathroom and shower was excellent. Over all the Place is Very clean, nicely renovated and very stylish, with everything I needed. It is In a great location, right near lots of places to eat and Drink. I honestly think this is a bargain, I will definitely stay here again.

    Debbie2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • We spent a wonderful night at Peter and his wife’s beautiful home last night and would highly recommend for anyone wanting somewhere to stay in this area. They were both so welcoming and we loved meeting their gorgeous puppy!! Peter was so helpful and even drove us to the wedding reception we were attending at the nearby Galgorm Resort. He also recommended some local taxi firms and said if we were unable to get one booked that he could come back for us later. The room was beautiful and very clean and it was lovely to have our own private bathroom. The shower was great too! We loved the extra little touches, such as the bottles of water and chocolates beside the bed. Thank you to you both for your hospitality. We would definitely stay again if in the area!

    Emily2019-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • Peter was (and most likely is) a greate host! Quick on responses and drove us into Ballymena when requested. Including at arrival and depature. Very friendly hosts and a really nice place to stay at! Recommended.

    Pierre2019-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • I am very grateful to Peter for his warm reception, very friendly nice family, and a lovely dog. Because the place where my friend got married is far away, peter drove me to the past. When I left, I warmly offered to drive me to the ballymena bus station, the first time north. A trip to Ireland, a good impression, thanks peter

  • This is a lovely wee studio apartment and it had exactly everything I needed - and more - for my stay in the area. The bed was comfy, the place really clean and plenty of little touches all about the place that just added that extra something and showed this fabulous host's thoughtfulness. I would both come back again and recommend it to others.

  • The house was great, very clean. It was in full detail, had everything and the host left us a great breakfast for those days. I highly recommend it. We had a very pleasant stay.

    Oihane2019-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • Clean and pleasant studio. We went to Giant's Causeway (one hour from the accommodation) and Belfast (30min). Unbeatable quality / price ratio for this region.

    Julie2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Tommy was a very thoughtful host. The place, though quirky, is full of home comforts and is excellent value for money, with all the features we could possibly need and more. Tommy was very generous with provisions too. The whole place was spick and span and really quiet. We slept very soundly. We hardly needed the heating but did turn it on a few times - it was very quick to heat up and the shower was superb. We were in the area to visit family and will definitely stay again, if available. The plant nursery next door is full of wonderful flowering plants for sale too.

  • The WT studio is great. Upon arrival we found that the apartment was larger than we had spoken. The fridge with milk, cheese, juice, ham, butter ... A very quiet and original site. Very well located to visit the surroundings. Totally recommended. Thanks for all WT

  • Clean place and really quiet, green environment, pleasant surroundings. My sister and I arrived one night and Tommy had filled the little fridge with good things, breakfast the next day was perfect! As Tommy works on site, he is available if we have questions to ask him, and is really accommodating. Its B & B is about 30 minutes from the North and East coasts of Northern Ireland, so it's perfect to visit a lot of things while staying at the same place for several days. By cons it is obviously easier to have a vehicle to go home. We will recommend it with our eyes closed if we are asked for advice for accommodation.

Our place is close to public transport. train station (1mile); Cullybackey village with restaurants, coffee shops and petrol station, all walking distance. You’ll love my place with a beautiful garden and quiet location, a Country estate. We are 1 mile from Galgorm Spa hotel with lovely walks.
The space is a private en-suite room with 2 single beds. The room is without breakfast, but there are options in the village for breakfast, it is furnished with kettle in the room for tea / coffee. There is a common living room space downstairs without cooking facilities.
We have tenants around the premise who are friends too. They have pet Dogs. But they have their own space and do not bother the guests. We have a friendly cat and a too friendly mini dog that roams the house too. The Dreen, is a country estate, its 100m away from the main road of the village. A mature garden and a field surrounds the main house.
  • Great location with peace, quiet and lovely views. It was so handy for us and would definitely use again.

  • We went to a wedding at the spa nearby and this was a perfect location nearby to stay a bit cheaper. Room was clean and nice and cosy warm. John was super nice in staying up until an ungodly hour to let us in as our flight was delayed. The grounds overlook a wee lake and the local village has all the things you need - make sure you have the breakfast at the local favourite spot. Thanks for having us John and family, we’d happily stay again.

  • Very nice and clean place. Tim is a great host. We had a very good time.

    Radu2019-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • Was in town for a wedding and needed a place to stay. This room was all I needed to sleep between all of the activities surrounding the wedding. The room matches Tim's description and Tim was very responsive to all communications I sent him.

    Bryce2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • Tim's place is in a great location for exploring the Co Antrim hills or coastline. A ten minute walk takes you to the town centre for food and drinks. The room is spotless and the bed comfortable. Tim is a very easy going guy who is available to help if need be but will also melt into the background if you prefer to just do your own thing. I would recommend Tim's place to singles or couples wanting a central location at a very fair price.

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Grace Hill cottage! It was perfect and super comfortable. We had a lovely warm welcome as Judith was there on arrival. We were visiting for a friends wedding at Galgorm but made a little holiday of it. Location was perfect, 5 mins away from Galgorm and Judith gave us a a taxi number who were really quick and efficient. It was about a half an hour drive to the north coast one way and about 40 mins the other way to Belfast, both nice easy drives. The cottage itself had everything we could have needed plus more! It was very clean and a good size space. The kitchen was big enough to cook and socialise. Beds were also really comfortable, I didn't want to leave. There was an iron, hair dryer and even little touches like cotton pads in the bathroom. Would definitely recommend this cottage to everyone and would love to go back in the future.

  • Cannot fault Lauren’s property! It was in an ideal location for a wedding we were attending at The Ivory Pavillion. Very clean and modern property, in such a peaceful location and the hospitality was great. We were two couples and having a bathroom each was particularly handy and we loved having the log burner on once we’d got in late on a cold winters night. Would 100% recommend :-)

  • A fabulous hidden gem. We stayed in The old school house annex for two nights and used the local spa at Galgorm. The property is quirky and very cool. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend it.

    Stephen2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • This place was really terrific. It exceeded our expectations. The rooms are all much larger than the photos show (except for the kitchen). The main gathering area is truly unique and so comfortable to hang out in. The enormous windows provide an open light space. The loft was perfect for my two teenage sons to hang out in. Though the kitchen is small, there is a dining room table in the main living space which works out well. The bedrooms are large and comfortable with plenty of space to spread out. The bathroom is modern and quite large with a very nice bathtub and separate shower area. The property is a one minute walk to the village (though you can't tell when you are inside the property) which is very convenient - the bakery, cafe, Chinese takeaway, and market were all great. There are a few nice restaurants within a short drive as well. It was easy to get to the north coast from the property. We were there in December so didn't use the outside space but it is, no doubt, a great space to hang out in the nicer weather. Sam, the host, was very good at communicatimg. All in all, it was a great experience.

    Pamela2019-12-31T00:00:00Z

  • Gorgeous guest house, comfortable bed and clean throughout! Log burner was a lovely addition, the central heating and hot water are easy to use. Hannah made us feel very welcome and responded quickly through the Air BnB chat. Just note - there is no TV but we took a laptop, connected to the free WiFi so watched tv/catch up that way. Overall, a lovely stay we would definitely recommend and stay again!

    Laura2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Very well presented BnB in a lovely peaceful rural location with great views. Wood burner was a real treat! Hannah was excellent with communication and the stay was v. enjoyable. Definitely recommend as a base for venturing in all directions.

  • I came across this place by chance and I did not regret it! Lovely place to stay very quiet and out of the way if that’s what you’re looking for. I stayed here with my partner as we needed to relax and recharge, this was perfect. We were left to our own devices which was great but of course if we needed anything Hannah was right there and responded very quick! I don’t have a bad word to say and I must add the bed is very comfy. Thanks Hannah! We will stay again :)

Beautifully refurbished mobile home in a working farm yard just outside Cullybackey. Perfect for families who want to be centrally located plus experience life on a farm. We live minutes from Galgorm Resort and Spa, 40min drive to the Antrim coasts and no more than 1 hour drive to the best N. Ireland has to offer. We also live 35 min from the International Airport and 45 min from Belfast City Airport. The mobile is self catering with all the mod cons and a woodburner stove for cooler days.
The mobile home is up a long lane away from the noise of traffic. There is a tranquil patio area and garden with swing seat surrounded by roses, apple trees and flowers which gets the sun all day long. Milk tea and coffee provided.
Quite, secluded, private, friendly. A real retreat from a busy life.
  • Fantastic holiday. Our 2 young children loved the caravan. Lots of toys provided. The highlight was feeding Esme (the calf) and seeing the lambs. A truly amazing holiday. Thanks so much to our hosts.

    Eleanor2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • My family and I really enjoyed our stay. Judith and James were very welcoming from the start. We got to name one of the calves Esmey and our son got to feed the calves every morning. He also got to ride in the tractor with James. The place was clean and very warm when we got in late at night. Judith brought us some bread, milk and butter because we wouldn't have had time to get any food. I thought that was a nice personal touch. They also got our son a little Christmas present and was very complimentary towards him. Overall, a very happy experience for all of us and we'd definitely go there again.

    Karen2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely staying at Judith’s. Very accommodating of our schedule and easy to communicate with ahead of our trip. Clean and cosy home, exactly what we were looking for as somewhere to stay while attending a wedding at the Galgorm. Would definitely recommend.

    David2019-12-14T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay with Judith and James. Judith was kind enough to drive us over to the Galgorm where we were going to a wedding. It was very cold when we got there but i have to say once we got the heating on, it was toastie warm. We had a great time and would most certainly recommend. Having the cows as neighbours was great entertainment too 😊

    Claire2019-11-23T00:00:00Z
  • Judith's place was great! Plenty of room in a nice rural setting. Perfect for a break out of the cities while traveling.

    Andrew2019-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • We booked the place for a 2 day Halloween break getaway and had an absolutely amazing time! The girls (5 and 3) loved being able to feed the calves and see so many cows, as well as enjoyed all the toys and books that were there. James was very kind to show us around the barn and answer all our farm and cows related questions! We even managed to visit the Galmore Castle Fairy Trail with the girls (highly recommended) as well as squeeze in a trip to the Giant’s Causeway, 50 minute drive away! A lovely, cozy, clean place and a great experience to remember for the family! Thanks Judith and James

    Madiha2019-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • We booked here for a two night getaway for my husbands birthday and I thought my one year old son would enjoy the seeing the tractors and the cows on the farm. We were not dissappointed. The hosts are super friendly and welcoming and we were made to feel at home right away. The caravan was very clean and really cosy at night with the fire lit. It was great to see the comings and goings of the cows and the antics of the calves. They seem to be as much of a handful as my mischeivious one year old son which was funny. We will definitely be back and one thing I would recommend for families to try when they stay is the fairy trail at Galgorm Castle. It was beautiful and only ten minutes away. Thanks again for a lovely peaceful stay and we will see you again soon. Xx

    Sharon2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • We only stayed for one night before a wedding at the Galgorm Resort (which is a short drive from the farm) but it was perfect for what we needed and exactly as described on the website. The hosts couldn't have been friendlier or more accommodating. Shame we couldn't stay longer as we were enjoying watching the cows from our window!

  • I can't say enough good things about Dermot's apartment. It is absolutely spotless and has everything you could possibly need. It's even located across the street from a grocery store and right next to the bus stop. I was in Portglenone to do a little bit of genealogy searching and Dermot went above and beyond in helping. His father spoke to some of the local people and found information that I could never have found on my own. He even drove us on a tour showing us the home that my family probably lived in. Communication was wonderful, he emailed me many times with information and met me at the apartment on check in day. He even emailed me the bus schedule and highlighted my route. It was truly a once in a lifetime experience and all thanks to Dermot and his father. I would certainly recommend and go back.

    Sharon2019-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • Dermot was a great host and very quick to respond to questions. Very clean apartment with everything we needed. The location is a good spot to make day trips from as it is quite central in Northern Ireland.

    Matthew2019-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay In Dermot's apartment. It's located smack bang in the middle of Portglenone with plenty of parking right outside the front door. The town is a great base if you want to explore a bunch of the popular sites around Northern Ireland. The apartment itself is large, clean and modern. Dermot is a great host and we would recommend his place to anyone visiting the area. Cheers, Amil and Rose.

  • We had a fantastic stay and Roy and Nickys lovely home. We attended a wedding in the Galgorm and Nicky and Roy went out of there way to accommodate us. They also helped with a local taxi number for our return later that night. The bed was comfy and was made to be as homely as possible. I also enjoyed the breakfast the next morning with a selection of cereals and fruits. We would definitely stay again without any hesitation. Thanks for a great stay.

    Gerard2019-12-09T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely enjoyed our stay. Nicky and Roys Home is absolutely stunning and set in the most beautiful country surroundings. We were very well looked after and after checking in Nicky kindly dropped us over to the Tullyglass Hotel where we were attending a wedding. The bedroom had thoughtful touches such as a little box of 'essentials' -moisturiser, deodorant etc. Breakfast was simple but lovely. Artisan breads, homemade fruit compote and honey. We felt very welcome and also enjoyed the company of their lovely dog Blue. Would absolutely stay again. Thank you

    Emma2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Nicky and Roy are fantastic hosts with a beautiful home. The room was spotless and the bed very comfortable. The ensuite and views from the room were fantastic. Nicky went above and beyond to help us as we were attending a wedding at the nearby Galgorm Resort. We really enjoyed our stay.

  • Great stay - close to a wedding in the Galgorm hotel. Perfect overnight break and fantastic/helpful hosts

    Grail2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • This home is beautiful. There are two rooms in their home for a traveler’s use - lovely bedroom with en-suite bath and next door is a dining/sitting room with a TV. We never used the sitting room as we were out & about most days and too tired at night from our romp to stay up and watch TV. Besides Nicky & Roy were great company in the evenings with a cup of tea at the ready and great conversation. They also had many suggestions for things to do which we found most helpful. Overall a warm and very hospitable place to stay. We highly recommend it.

    Linda2019-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great spot - great location to all sorts of amenities but also a really pretty venue in itself. Roy & Nicky's place is spotless, extremely comfortable, and they are great hosts. Bed is super comfy, great, powerful shower, plenty of towels, warm and cosy environment and this is all topped off with a delicious breakfast. Couldn't ask for more. This place is a real gem and we'll be back!

    Helen2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Amazingly friendly and hospitable hosts. A lovely house and scenery. Can’t do enough to help.

    Matt2019-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful and cozy room with nice bathroom in a peaceful home, dreamy view, tranquil surroundings. Our time with Roy and Nicky far exceeded any of our expectations in terms of hospitality, generosity and kindness. They also went above and beyond to help us plan and navigate our route around Ireland. They have both traveled themselves and clearly know how nice it is to be taken in and helped like this as travellers, they really wanted to make sure that we had the best of times and got the most out of our time in Ireland. We truly felt taken in like family. We enjoyed it so much that we changed our traveling plans and came back to stay for another night. We would unreservedly recommend anyone to stay here.

Galgorm cottage is a 1 bedroom self catering cottage in our courtyard next to our self catering Coach house (other similar listing) with a fire-burning stove. It has the bedroom and bathroom upstairs, and kitchen and living room downstairs. The lighting and decor is of an old-fashioned cottage. The kitchen contains an electric cooker, microwave oven, washing machine, essential cooking utensils are provided. Perfect for a couple, families with kids and pets and group of friends.
The Dreen is a country estate away from the main road. It affords relaxation with its vast garden and river-fed lake. The Galgorm Cottage is an old-Irish type cottage, furnished to give guests a comfortable, cozy stay.
The Dreen is away from the main road, but accessible enough to main shops and restaurants in the village of Cullybackey which is approx 600m walk with shops open 6:30 am - 10pm. We are connected to major roads, going to Portglanone, Ballymena and the Coastal Routes.

  • We booked this cottage after reading the previous reviews having never used AirBnb for booking a cottage in N.I. before. All reviews stated what great hosts John & Ruby were and this proved to be very true. The cottage is perfectly located if you are attending a function at Galgorm Manor as we were. It is a 2 mile trip via road or 1 mile via the river walk. There is also a 24 hour taxi service in Cullybacky, so you can drive to Galgorm Manor and get a taxi back to the cottage. We also used the excellent train service in the village to get to Belfast, with trains every hour and free car parking. You can also go in the other direction to the coast if you wish. We were met at arrival by John, who is a very well travelled and interesting person to talk to. He showed us around the cottage and answered any questions we asked him. During our stay we chatted a few times with John and he introduced us to his family and showed us around the estate and properties which was very kind. We loved our property as it has lots of character and was perfect in size for the two of us. When we return with family, we will obviously book one of the bigger accommodations offered by John.

  • Ruby and Johns cottage met our expectation and more. It is much nicer than the photos, incredibly cosy and warm and the picturesque wooded location even hosts a lake which we were welcome to enjoy, just steps from the door. John was very helpful and communicative for all our needs. We would return if as location is perfect for all coastal activity. Thanks Ruby & John

The loft-type apartment is a self-catering cottage. Its ideal for people staying for more than 2 nights. It has its own kitchen where you can prepare your own meals. Its furnished for a comfortable stay. It has a gas and electric cooker, microwave, and a small fridge. There is also a washing machine, for guests use. Families with pets are welcome. The space is large enough to accommodate extra family members.
The Coach House is a renovated space used as a barn in 1880's. The space is ideal for people staying for more than 2 nights. The Dreen, as we call the main house, is a country estate located in the Dreen Road, Cullybackey. Its an old manor house but cottages and additional living spaces has been added through the years. We have a 180 meters lake fed by the village river. The garden blooms through spring and summer. We encourage guests to walk along the gardens and around the lake. Picnic tables are placed near the lake and gardens, perfect setting for BBQ on a sunny day.
We are 1 mile from Galgorm Manor Resort & Spa, and 700m from the Cullybackey village and 4miles from nearby towns of Ballymena and Portglanone. We recommend The Toast Cafe for coffee and breakfast (8-11:30) and excellent lunch menu. They are closed sundays and The Maine coffee bar down in the village of Cullybackey also has a snack menu. The village restaurants are open from Monday to Saturday from 8am- 5pm.
  • Convenient, as described, clean comfortable accommodation. Good hosts.

She was on hand with any questions we had and so helpful. Thank you so much Helen. I will recommend your accommodation to my wedding guests who may want to stay and anyone else who I know travelling to Ballymena.

  • Helen's Place was central to everything we needed. We were able to walk to the town center and the wedding venue we attended was less than a mile away. The house itself was small but clean and had all the appliances we needed. Helen provided tea and coffee and breakfast items. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again.
