  • We loved our stay here! The space is so cute and all of the small touches add up. There also were SO MANY toiletries for us to use. We ended up walking to downtown (about 5-10 min walk) and went to Abolitionist Ale house for drinks and dinner. This was the perfect location for going to Harpers Ferry. Loved our little getaway here!

    Naomi2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • HIGHLY RECOMMEND staying here! Jackie is such an amazing host, providing so many necessaries and little touches. The space is clean, adorably decorated and walking distance to the pubs/restaurants in town. Looking forward to staying here again!

  • Awesome stay! Jackie has done an amazing job of curating this apartment with handsome antiques, a sparkling kitchen with all the amenities, and beautiful stained glass windows. There was a charger for my phone on the bedside stand and she even had chocolates on the bed for Valentine's Day! Charles Town is a cool place with some interesting things to do and good restaurants. I can't wait to visit again.

    Kylie2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Laura’s place was the perfect getaway. We arrived to a house full of fresh flowers, snacks and food in the fridge, and a beautiful space. The house got a little chilly in winter, but there was a heater to help with that. Great location near Harper’s Ferry and downtown Charles Town. We hope to be back soon!

A cozy tower room with queen size bed, marble bathroom. Located in Historic Charles Town is beautifully restored estate, circa 1890 French Provincial style home sited on 2 acres with fountains, Zen garden, old barn with hammocks, jacuzzi, sauna.
Historic Maison du Soleil Retreat is restored historic property built in 1897 with two acres of gardens and fountains.
You will be in the walking distance from nice local restaurants in the historic Charles Town and near two other interesting tourist destinations, Shepherdstown and Harpers Ferry WV.
  • You can expect a beautiful comfortable hone where you feel completely at ease and at home. The hot tub and sauna were amazing as were the amazing breakfasts. I hope to get back there again aoon.

    Richard2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Olga and Henk's Maison du Soleil Retreat is such and amazing place to stay, but also an amazing experience. We had the pleasure of sharing great conversation over a beautiful breakfast prepared by Henk both mornings during our trip. Olga had great suggestions for shops and restaurants in and around Charles Town. They went above and beyond to make sure that we had everything we needed and more. I highly recommend Olga and Henk's place!

    Alison2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Arriving at Maison du Soleil, you can truly feel the magic of a French sunset. We arrived just then, with the sky dappled in bright purple clouds, stirring the full moon into it's elevated resting place. Fairy lights sparkle and meander through gorgeous plants and trees leading up to the entrance, and also down the walk to the barn that has transformed into a spa! Henk greeted us and gave us a tour to our tower room, through the decadent sitting rooms full of rich European décor, and down to the spa to get us all settled in our cozy sanctuary for the evening. We felt swept into a fairy tale, rocking in the hammock serene from jacuzzi and sauna bathing. There were so many thoughtful touches and beautiful flourishes on this stay, and our breakfast was fit for a king! I would absolutely recommend to visit the Historic Maison du Soleil very soon. These lovely hosts may soon find themselves in a new city. Take advantage of this glorious retreat while it is still available!

    Danielle2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • You couldn’t ask for better hosts! Olga And Henk were kind and thoughtful and made a delicious breakfast! The jacuzzi and sauna were such a treat each evening and felt like a dream. So glad I picked this place over other bnbs in the area....it was amazing!

    Katie2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • There should be another category for those who exceed that of a super-host because that’s where I would categorize Olga and her husband, Hank. From the moment we encountered Olga, we could feel the genuineness and love emitting from her. She ensured we were comfortable and without need of anything from the moment we entered their space. There were so many thoughtful touches that you can tell come from a place of love. They made us feel like it was our own! It was beyond the weekend retreat we were expecting. We took full advantage of their hot sauna space, enjoying the much needed heat to warm our bodies during those frigid evenings in the mountains of West Virginia, after-which, we would go right outside and jump into the hot jacuzzi and look up at the beautifully bright night sky, enjoying the magnificent light-show from space and those alluring stars! It was amazing to have gazed up at Venus our two nights there, as she graced us with her alluring brightness. We were able to enjoy time to ourselves as well as the amazing conversations we had with our hosts, especially while enjoying the visually appealing and delicious breakfasts we were served during our stay. I cannot conjure up the right words to express our utter delight and enjoyment during our time with the ultimate hosts. I feel tremendously blessed to have had the opportunity to experience them and their space. Thank you Olga and Hank for your openness with us.

    Alexis2019-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was wonderful and Olga is a gem!

    Nicole2019-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • Fairy tale weekend. From communication to amazing breakfast it was spectacular stay. Perfect location in beautiful town . Check in and check out was easy. The house itself is cozy with old world charm as we wondered from room to room our amazement grew more and more how chic and stylish it is furnished. Our room had all that we needed and we had a great night sleep. Olga is the best host made us feel right at home. The barn space where we chilled most of the evening made Olga's place even more alluring. The breakfast with hosts was particularly rewarding experience, this is what air b and b is all about the people and meaningful experiences you take home with you. Cant wait ti go back!

    Elena2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • Henk was a great host (Olga was away during our stay)! Hot tub was great especially under the stars. Private bath with shower was right next to our room. Very clean and modern. There is two cats, one that is very friendly with greeting guests. Appreciate the chocolates and nuts in the room, also the towels washcloths robes and toiletries. Henk prepared a very delicious large breakfast both mornings of our stay!

  • Nice place

    Joshua2019-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • This place has charm and was in the heart of downtown Charles Town. We actually met the host upon checking in and they were very nice and were able to answer our questions about check-in, parking, and check-out. Great, central location to everything in town. People were very nice and helpful at Abolitionist Ale and around town as well. Great brass band played at the bar around supper and was a great way to kick off our night! Not much heard outside or down at bar when sleeping so that was not a disturbance. The fans and AC units inside the apartment took some getting used to as far as sound, but they made the stay comfortable so we appreciated that. We enjoyed our stay and would go back due to the great location and friendly atmosphere around town!

    Ryan2019-09-01T00:00:00Z

  • The house is truly lovely, relaxing and so very homey. Nicole stocked the house with everything we needed. We had a wonderful time!

    Cindy2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • You will love this cute little place! Nicole’s little tips and touches to the house make it such an amazing place to stay at and gives you such a homey feel. The place was so clean. Me and my boyfriend are both 6’0 +, so the ceilings upstairs were a bit short for us but that is more of an us problem lol. The profile also claims that the main bed is a queen bed but I believe it is instead a full, which we didn’t mind. I will recommend this place to all my friends that need a place to stay in Charles Town!

    Alexa2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • The tree house is charming and Nicole leaves lots of extras to make your stay comfortable. There are snacks, waters, and coffee. It was a nice walk to downtown Charles Town where we had delicious Thai food and scones from the small grocery store there. We would love to stay again when we have more time to explore.

    Robert2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Nicole was a generous and communicative host. My cousin and I were in the Charles Town and Harpers Ferry areas for hiking and brewery touring. Nicole’s house is conveniently located in the middle of all of these destinations which have some geographic spread to them. Nicole made us feel welcome and gave us very clear directions to check in and out. The house was clean and had colonial charm. If you are visiting the area, do not overlook this listing!

    Greg2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • This charming little house is a "destination" of its own and reason enough to go to Charles Town. We can't say enough about it of our stay there. Outstanding host, lot's of personal touches, and and just a great all around experience. Don't miss it. We'll be back.

    Christopher2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • This place was so cute. It's in a quiet neighborhood, but walking distance from everything in Charles Town - we took a guided walking tour through the Olio website that talked about the town's history, and the first stop was just a 10 minute walk away. We appreciated the Keurig coffee and the jams and honeys that were available. It was a comfortable stay for my mom and me, with two bedrooms upstairs. We had some issues with the oven, but Nicole was very responsive and helpful with that.

  • A very neat home with a number of extras including staple foods and drinks in the kitchen, games and books, and excellent wifi and tv amenities. Located close to the Casino (maybe not quite walking distance but almost) and downtown areas. Also very close to an excellent park with walking paths and play areas for the kids.

  • Nicole has created a warm and welcoming home away from home. We enjoyed all the games, books and old magazines. We especially loved her knowledge and recommendations of things to do in the area.

Immerse yourself in history as our guest at the National Register listed Stone House Mansion (1757). Home to Revolutionary War, French and Indian War, and War of 1812 officers, statesmen, and Congressmen. Close to Historic Shepherdstown, Harpers Ferry, & Antietam National Battlefield. The apartment has everything you will need for a comfortable stay. The basement level apartment is ideal for couples, families, solo adventurers, and business travelers (available for extended stay).
The apartment in the basement level has two bedrooms, one with a queen bed and one with a single bed with an electric fireplace, living room with big colonial fireplace (non-functioning) and a TV and a dining table, bathroom with claw-foot tub/shower, and a kitchen with all amenities and washer and dryer and dishwasher. Historically, the living room in the basement level was a kitchen where the large fireplace was used for cooking. The queen bedroom is air-conditioned in the summer. The rest of the basement apartment is not air-conditioned but stays fairly cool in the summer. Next to Bedroom 2 is a dressing room/storage room that also has a sitting area and a double sofa bed for occasional company. This house is steeped in American history. The following is condensed from the National Register of Historic Places listing: The Stone House Mansion was constructed in 1757. It is one of the oldest stone structures in Berkeley County. The Stone House Mansion is significant for its association with the Hite vs. Fairfax lawsuit, which revolved around the question of whether colonial government or English government had the authority to grant land. The suit is significant in the interpretation of the arguments and as a precursor of the concepts and concerns that eventually led to the Revolution. It was for these very beliefs that the colonies rebelled. The stone house is mentioned in the suit and is included in a survey conducted as part of the evidence. Stone House Mansion is significant for its association with Captain John Strode, who constructed Stone House Mansion. Captain John Strode fought with the Continental Army and was the founder of Strode’s Station in Kentucky. Stone House Mansion is significant for its association with General Adam Stephen, who founded the city of Martinsburg. Stephen was second-in-command to George Washington in the French and Indian War and fought under George Washington in the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War with the rank of Major General. After the war, he served as a delegate to the 1788 Virginia Convention and spoke persuasively in favor of adopting the U.S. Constitution. Stephen purchased Stone House Mansion from Captain John Strode in September 1789. The land was to be inherited by his daughter, Ann Stephen. Ann Stephen was married twice. Her first marriage in 1779 was to Captain Alexander Spotswood Dandridge, who was second cousin to Martha Washington and grandson of Virginia Governor Alexander Spotswood. Captain Dandridge served as an Aide-de-Camp on the staff of General George Washington during the Revolutionary War. Captain Alexander Spotswood Dandridge died in 1785. He and Ann had one son, Adam Stephen Dandridge. Ann’s second marriage in 1787 was to Major Moses Hunter, Revolutionary War veteran and member of the Virginia House of Delegates. Stone House Mansion was inherited by Major Moses Hunter’s son, Lieutenant David Hunter, who was killed at the battle of Williamsburg on the St. Lawrence River in the War of 1812. Stone House Mansion was then inherited by the granddaughter of General Adam Stephen, Anne Hunter. Anne Hunter married Captain Henry St. George Tucker, who fought in the War of 1812 and was a U.S. Congressman, a member of the Virginia Senate, lawyer, judge, and law professor at the University of Virginia. Tucker County, West Virginia was named for Henry St. George Tucker. Stone House Mansion is significant for its association with James Monroe VanMetre and his son Isaac David Sylvester VanMetre, both prominent businessmen and farmers from a very prominent early settlement family in the Shenandoah Valley.
This quiet area is part of what was once a large historic farm, but now only 10 acres of it remain. Stone House Mansion is within a 30-minute drive to historic destinations in Harpers Ferry, WV, Winchester, VA, and Sharpsburg, MD. Visit the nearby Charles Town Racetrack and Casino. Also within a 30-minute drive visitors can enjoy outdoor activities, including hiking, fishing, whitewater rafting, and biking or hiking the C&O Canal and Appalachian Trail. It is convenient to the highway. The bike path between Charles Town and Martinsburg West Virginia borders the property. The State has placed a historical marker about Stone House Mansion on the bike path! The Coast Guard facility, IRS Computing Center, and V.A. Medical Center are within a mile from here. A convenience store and gas station is a half-mile from the house.
  • We loved staying in this old home! We stayed in the basement apartment which is very spacious. The owners were always available, however we never really had any issues that needed addressed. Would definitely stay again if in this area.

  • This place is wonderful! Lots of historical charm and furnished with all kinds of beautiful antiques . It was such a quiet and cozy place to spend the week. The place is completely stock with everything you need and lots of extras! The beds are extremely comfortable. It is minutes off the highway and close to restaurants as shopping but it feels like your in the country . Barbara was extremely nice and easy to work with. We had a change of plans and did not check in till the next evening and she was so gracious in accommodating us. I would highly recommend staying here!

  • An incredible place to spend a few nights - a historic site itself, it is a great spot to base yourself to visit Harper's Ferry, Charles Town, Berkeley Springs, or Winchester, VA. Donald and Barbara are the consummate hosts - providing you with a pamphlet of info on the home when you arrive, and ensuring the kitchen has just about everything you could need to prepare a meal should that be in your plans. Would not hesitate to book another stay here.

  • The house is great. Extremely clean and well stocked with towels, blankets, pillows etc. The beds were very comfortable. Close to center of town and about 1.5-2 hours from DC for a great day trip. Host was quick to respond. We truly enjoyed our stay and would stay again if we are in the area.

  • This old house is truly historical and my group had a lot of fun just taking in the spectacular eccentricities that come with such an old house. My adult daughter found it fun to create her own ghost stories for the house, as she was in the room with all the doors. We will definitely stay here again when we return to the area.

Barn apartment in the upper level of a bank barn. Fourteen miles from downtown Leesburg, 5 miles from Harper's Ferry, 1 mile from VA-9 Appalachian trail head. Close to Harper's Ferry Adventure Center, wineries, breweries, tubing, kayaking, hiking, farms. Full kitchen. Unplugged - no satellite, TV, or Internet. There is cell signal. Rate includes 6% Virginia state tax and 7% Loudoun County hotel tax. NOTE: see rethink9.com for construction and traffic issues expected until summer 2021.
The apartment has a spacious MBR with queen bed and a second bedroom with twin. There is a loveseat that folds out into basically a mattress on the floor, mostly suitable for kids or young people. There is no separate dining room - the kitchen has an extra counter with barstools. The living room is small, with a little couch and two chairs. It has a TV/DVD player. Note there is no satellite or cable, you will want to bring movies (there is a small collection in the apartment). This is an unplugged experience. We have coyote, bear, hawks, various waterfowl, amphibians, foxes, groundhogs, weasels, raccoons and opossums, although many are shy and rare to see. There is a great open space for sky viewing, and you may catch us out there sometimes.
There are many local attractions and recreation spots within a few minutes drive. Many of them are in the guidebook. However, the guidebook doesn't let me add events and activities that don't have a physical address, so here are some you might want to know about. Right here on site, local astrophotographer Andrew Baker conducts sky tours and demonstrates the techniques and equipment he uses to catch the amazing shots on his website. Contact him to arrange a sky tour here: https://thebackyardcosmos.wixsite.com/astro/tours Or on Facebook (you can also see some awesome photos there): https://www.facebook.com/thebackyardcosmos/ You can fly over the area: https://balikoutdoors.com/nature-flightseeing Visit the Mountain Heritage Arts and Crafts festival if you're here one of the two weekends (spring and fall): http://www.mhacfestival.org/ As a former 4H parent and daughter of a dairy clubber, the Loudoun County Fair has a special place in my heart. Learn about farming, livestock, and what beef fitting is. Oh, and maybe go on some rides or see a show. :) http://loudouncountyfair.com/
  • Great quiet getaway to relax with awesome views and scenery. Can’t wait to come back.

    Ethan2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • This is a nicely finished, clean, loft apartment inside of a barn. The location is great for a getaway and you can see the sky well at night. Very quiet here. Harper’s ferry is close by and Antietam isn’t too far either. Aside from those two destinations though we didn’t find much else to do which was fine with us. Pam responded to messages promptly, but we didn’t need to contact her for anything other than check in/check out. All in all we had a great time.

    Jonathan2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice location off the beaten path but close enough to everything

    Joe2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Exactly as described! We had a great time!

    Erin2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • This spot truly is a gem. Our state felt very private and intimate in the beautiful wooded setting we found ourselves in. Pam was a gracious host and provided numerous amenities to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. For anyone coming to visit, I would just recommend you drive VERY slowly up the gravel path up to the apartment. Our small car hit a few noisy bumps on the way up. That’s what we expected from a spot tucked back in nature though so as long as you come prepared and drive cautiously, you’ll be fine! We loved it here and you will too. Thank you, Pam!

    Brian2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • This location was so beautiful and peaceful. The scenery was one we enjoyed waking up to every morning. Lots of natural sunlight so if you need darkness in the morning, bring a mask. (Waking up to the sunshine was amazing for me though!) The place was spacious and very nice for a barn apartment. This was a great way to disconnect and just relax. Wifi was a bit spotty, as well as cell signal but honestly, it didn't bother us because we were looking for a peaceful stay. There's a vineyard close by too so definitely take advantage of that. Check-in was SO easy and the host communicated quickly. We would definitely come back.

    Amanda2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a retreat away. Great property for kids or just for anyone wanting to relax. The view of the neighboring vineyard is beautiful.

    Rebecca2019-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • Pam’s place is beautiful. If you’re interested in birds there were many species spotted out the kitchen window! I saw my first northern harrier and mockingbird! There are several cute vineyards in the area, plenty to see and do. The barn cats are adorable! We had a nice fire at the fire pit one night and listened to all the sounds of the mountain. Overall great experience!

Thanks for checking out the bus. It has been a joy to meet so many nice people since we listed it on Airbnb. The bus is just a short walk from our house where you can use the bathroom and kitchen if you need. Thanks again!
It's a 1997 school bus, not too long, not too short. There is a sofa, table, woodstove and full bed. There is ambient light and electricity on the bus as well as several candles. It has a wood floor and wood wall siding. It's in a private area of my yard and in the warmer weather there is a deck attached to the bus for relaxing. Aside from the bus, my bathroom is shared and my kitchen can be used also if requested. It depends on what the guest seems to prefer. I have had dinner with guests and taken them on tours of the area, picked them up from the train, given rides, etc. Many guest prefer to just have some privacy in the country and I respect that totally. I also work a lot which can hinder my availabilityon certain days. I live on a country road and my neighbors are like family.
I live on a country road and my neighbors are like family.
  • It was a great place to stay! It was like glamping taken to the next level! The bus was accommodating, all you need to do is bring a cooler and you can make whatever you need with the fireplace or grill! Their house is right next to the bus so if you need to take a shower or the restroom, it's a few steps away! Will and Sabrina were very nice and helpful! Their dogs were extremely friendly and my dog enjoyed theirs. Definitely going to go again!

    Megan2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • I cannot recommend staying in the bus enough. It is so cozy and quaint. It was very clean and Will did a great job making us feel welcome. A lot of people may stay here for access to Haper's Ferry, but take the time and visit Sheperdstown. Great restaurants and fun places to grab a drink. Great downtown to stroll around. I would definitely stay here again if I was visiting the area.

    Tyler2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Such a great experience! Will and Sabrina were warm, welcoming hosts who made us feel right at home. The bus was comfortable even for a February stay thanks to the wood stove and plenty of blankets provided. Its in a great location with downtown Sheperdstown just a few minutes away and Harpers Ferry just a bit farther. Cannot recommend the bus highly enough.

    Paige2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Will’s place was amazing! I would highly recommend living in a Skoolie for a couple of days to anyone. Will and Sabrina were so kind. Reading Will’s book while on the skoolie made the experience feel even more surreal because you saw all his hard work pay off. Again thank you Will, Owen and I loved your place!

    Illiana2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • The bus was a perfect spot to relax and experience semi rustic living. From the indoor fireplace to the chickens to the great hospitality, everything was perfect! I recommend this stay for anyone looking to get a cool, hippie-country style adventure in. Very cool spot!

  • Such a fun stay!! The perfect weekend getaway to relax in such a unique space. We hope to be back again soon!

    Rachael2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy is the perfect word! It’s clean, quiet, and a great option if you’re in the area. So glad I didn’t choose to stay in a traditional hotel or AirBnB. The Bus is a must!!!

    Taylor2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • Will and Sabrina were absolutely lovely. The bus, despite our visit to it in January, was warm when we arrived. The space is creative and unique, and located in a quite corner of the nearby quaint town of Shepherdstown. The woodburning stove warmed us on the night it rained, and the entire stay was magical. We definitely hope to come back to this place that now means so very much to us!

Charming Studio Guest Suite located 5 minutes from Historic Harpers Ferry and 10 minutes to Charles Town/Hollywood Casino. Close to Virginia and Maryland wineries and Breweries. Hiking, biking, kayaking, canoeing, tubing and rafting all close by on the Potomac and Shenandoah rivers. Rural neighborhood off the beaten path. Please note that there are steep stairs leading to this second floor suite and it is not handicap accessible. This is a non-smoking property.
Wonderful new build studio suite on the detached garage. All new inside and out !
Please note that our neighborhood is rural. The back yard is home to lots of deer who think it’s their yard! And the neighbor “cat lady” takes in lots of cats. Don’t be surprised if one is on the deck when you come out but don’t let them in! They will over run us!!!
  • What a beautiful space! Christine is extremely responsive and her husband was there when we arrived to show us the space! It was externally clean and welcome! A perfect space for a weekend getaway!

    Jen2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • I had the best experience staying here! The location was handy and I appreciated the rural area for the peace and quiet. Even had the company of deer in the early morning passing through the back yard! Everything about this place is focused on the traveler and being able to enjoy the area in whatever capacity you desire! Highly recommend staying here!

  • If you are looking for a wonderful weekend getaway and want a place to base yourself between Harpers Ferry and Shepherdstown, you’ll definitely want to check out this lovely flat! My boyfriend and I stayed here for two nights, and couldn’t be happier. It is a spacious studio apartment and is within easy driving distance to all of the sites in the area. Although we could self check-in, Christine kindly waited for us although we had a late arrival. The studio was stocked with snacks, coffee, and bathroom amenities and everything was sparkling clean and brand-new. And the flannel bedsheets were heavenly! There’s also a porch at the entrance which has beautiful views of the rolling countryside below. Wish we could’ve stayed longer, but still had a wonderful visit. Thank you for everything, Christine!

They let us park in their actual drive way because our truck is a little long, walked us through everything we needed to know, and gave great recommendations! The little touches of the place really go a long way and I can’t wait to come back. We had the perfect weekend thanks to our hosts!

    Heidi2020-02-23T00:00:00Z

We are 5 minutes from Charles Town Races and Hollywood Casino. 10 minutes from Harper's Ferry National Park, white water rafting and fishing on both the Shenandoah and Potomac rivers. Motor sports at Summit Point. 45 minutes from Dullas International Airport and Metro silver line. The space was an inlaw suite so it has everything you need for a short or long stay including laundry. It is attached to our home so we will be available to help. This apartment does have a private entrance.
Quiet country setting. Private entrance. Near Charles Town Races and Hollywood Casino. One hour from D.C. One and a half from Baltimore.
We are surrounded by farms. Mostly horses but also grain. On a quiet night you can hear the corn grow. Only 5 minutes from Charles Town so stores are convenient.
  • We really enjoyed our stay. This place provides you your own private space, with essentially all the things you’ll need during your stay. It’s in the countryside (limited WiFi speed if that matters to you) but close to several towns in the area. And it’s quiet and cozy. Really great for feeling like you’re getting away from it all but still near civilization. We especially liked the full-sized kitchen. Stephen and Sue are very nice, hospitable folks. We would definitely recommend staying with them!

  • My fiancé and I stayed at Edna’s Pad for a getaway weekend to Harper’s Ferry. This was the perfect location, only a 10 minute drive to Harper’s Ferry and a 5 minute drive to the main strip in Charles Town. It was quiet, beautiful and stress-free. Steve and his wife were wonderful hosts. We would highly recommend.

    Brittany2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved our time at Edna’s Pad. The pictures on the ad are very accurate. The detail in every accommodation are much appreciated. I couldn’t have asked for anything more on the house. The location is perfect between Harpers Ferry and Charles Town Casino (we enjoyed both) as much as a quiet home cooked breakfast on our check out morning. The place was so cozy to pull up to. Loved watching the deer in the back while enjoying coffee on the back porch. Can’t wait to return!! THANK YOU Steve and Sue!

    Heather2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Edna's pad is surrounded by beautiful and serene sanctuary. It's definitely a place I would like to come back to and stay longer. The hosts were accomadating, kind, and professional. And the location was perfect! Far enough out but still close enough to go out and enjoy the many surrounding activities. Not only was the place clean it was also comfortable! I would definitely recommend it as a great space to stay! And we will definitely go back!

Sitting atop a hill on 23 acres at historic Fairview Farm, Circa 1737, the newly built cottage is surrounded by pasture, organic gardens, history & overlooks the Harpers Ferry Gap. We are just a few miles from Charles Town, Harpers Ferry, Shepardstown & the Hollywood Casino, the Appalachia trail, the Shenandoah & Potomac Rivers, and many historical sites. Start your day watching the sun rise from the deck and sunsets from the porch. We are taking extra precautions sanitizing between guests...
March 26 update: we are using isopropyl alcohol and Lysol to clean between guests. We are wiping all knobs, handles, switches, remotes, and hard surfaces with isopropyl alcohol and spraying all soft surfaces like upholstery, curtains and pillows with Lysol. I am removing the throw pillows. I have extended my winter reduced rate through April. If you are a traveling nurse or doctor or someone working on the front lines please message me for a special rate. I have begun to block 3 nights between each guest to help protect me when cleaning between guests. Please check out all of our photos to see the cottage and surrounding property during all four seasons. It is getting warmer but the nights are still chilly and a perfect time to cuddle up or play board games (provided) in front of the electric fireplace. Come for a visit and let your stress melt away at our little slice of Almost Heaven West Virginia. Historic Harpers Ferry and Shepardstown, chartered in 1762 and one of the two oldest towns in WV, are just 8 miles from the cottage and perfect for a daytime or evening stroll. The Hollywood Casino, just 3 miles from the cottage has a couple very good restaurants, as well as music and a dance floor on weekends, and of course gaming. The advantages of Fairview Farm go beyond the middle-of-everything location, the gardens and sweeping vistas. The perfect family, me-time get away or romantic destination. Parties of four or less, with a positive review and a completed profile can book automatically. A guest without previous reviews or a completed profile will need to send a request to book. The cottage can sleep up to six people, but parties over four will need to send a request to book. Please look thru photos. The property is beautiful dusted or covered in snow and bursts with color in Spring, Summer and Fall. It is a great destination for photographers or anyone who loves the serenity of a rural setting. Our historic barns, mountain views, gently rolling pastures, and the wildlife, including deer, barn swallows, eagles, blue jays, red cardinals, yellow finches and hummingbirds, ground hogs, red fox, bunnies, and the elusive coyotes that can be heard more than seen all make up Fairview Farm. You will also find: > a fire pit surrounded by large rocks and chairs for evening marshmallow toasting is just a short walk from the cottage. A stack of wood is provided. > the main house and cottage sit back from the street more than 1/4 mile so there is a feeling of seclusion without the isolation. > during the 4th of July celebration, there is a fantastic view of the fireworks from the side deck of the cottage or the front porch of the main house, where you are welcome to join us. And there is much more. In early spring the farm is planted with non GMO/organic seeds and then tended organically. Last year was very hard with high temps and torrential downpours, but most of the destruction to our gardens came from bunnies that have moved on to the property and are multiplying like...bunnies. If you sit quietly outside the cottage you are sure to see them running in and out of the raspberry patch. We have our fingers crossed that the weather is less severe this year. We will have organic herbs in my kitchen, and flower gardens. Just ask if you need something for cooking- mint, basil, oregano, rosemary, thai basil. The kitchen is a cook's delight. There is a Keurig, toaster, blender, family size pressure cooker/crock pot and microwave. We've provided a nice set of cookware, and several pieces of Corning Ware that I have collected for years. If guests need a small appliance, such as a rice cooker, ice cream maker, griddle, etc. Please let us know. We have several small appliances that can be brought up to the cottage in just minutes. A large gas grill is also provided on the screened in porch. Please let us know in advance if you intend to use it so we can fill the propane tank. There is no dishwasher in the cottage. We provide a drying mat and several wood drying racks. In keeping with our organic lifestyle, we use as few chemical cleaners as possible in the cottage. We mainly use and provide vinegar or other cleaners without harsh chemicals. Please bring laundry soap if you plan on doing laundry during your stay. While we do not allow large, unruly parties, we can accommodate families or groups that would like to gather for a home cooked holiday meal at the cottage. We are happy to provide additional pots, pans, serving dishes, a full set of china and tables and seating, as needed. Just let us know. The cottage is furnished with an eclectic mix of high end contemporary furniture and vintage and antique pieces. My mother's and my taste combined into a space that all of our guests have raved about. The cottage was built for my mother in her later years. The Heywood Wakefield mid century bedroom suite in the master bedroom was her wedding gift from my grandparents in the late 1950s. Though she never moved in, all doorways, hallways, and the shower were designed to be wheelchair accessible. There is a 1/4 step to enter the porch, the cottage and the shower. The cottage will be tastefully decorated for holidays including a decorated tree for Christmas. If you, your family or friends are celebrating a birthday, anniversary or holiday we are happy to provide a home baked decorated cake or cookies for an additional fee. You can choose from many flavors, and types including glutton free, dairy free, vegan, or organic, even Keto. MOST IMPORTANTLY: We welcome everyone! We absolutely do not and will not discriminate based on race, religion, gender, or who you love. We will respect your privacy and only ask you respect our property. This a functioning small farm, surrounded by farms with all the smells, and noises of livestock and tractors. While the evenings are quiet, and the star filled skies, breathtaking, during planting, growing and harvest season work starts at sun up. Please be aware The main 1/4 mile driveway is gravel and the driveway to the cottage is mostly a dirt road with a layer of gravel. Both can get beat up during bad storms and/or heavy farm equipment. We keep them entirely passable but please drive slowly to avoid potholes on the main driveway. Guests are responsible for reading the House Manual on the App. It’s not heavy reading - just a short list of common sense rules for staying at the cottage. Check -In Instructions on the app include step by step photos to help find and enter the cottage. Other Info: we were chosen to be the recipient of the largest tree plantings along Elks Run by the Conservation Department of WV Forestry. With the help of volunteers, 150 Native trees have been planted along the creek to help prevent erosion. UPDATE: The remaining 150 trees have been planted. We are located on the main road that runs between Charles Town and Sheperdstown. There are grocery stores (Aldis, Weiss, and a Giant called Martins) CVS, Rite Aid, Sweetfrog, Home Depot, Kohls, a great nail salon, and several restaurants and fast food joints within 3 miles. All the conveniences of the suburbs, in a rural setting. The cottage is surrounded by farmland pastures. A working dairy farm is across the street and can be seen from the cottage. The pastures of a beautiful 60 acre farm that once bred black angus, backs to our property
  • Don’t pass this fantastic cottage up! Truly a beautiful place to stay! We will return!

    Michael2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a gem! Very clean with lovely decorations. The kitchen is especially well equipped. Wish we could have stayed longer! We especially loved how secluded the house was! Just perfect!

    Ashley2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • This was my husband and I's second time staying at Dina's place (both times were for friends' events in the area - first a wedding celebration and then a baby shower). We LOVE the location and how adorable this cottage is - it's gorgeous and isolated and a wonderful place to come back to after being out all day (the stars, the birds, etc.). It might be a little cramped for anything more than one family, but for a couple or a family with kids, it's a great space.

    Zeva2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • The place is beautiful and quiet. We only stayed for a day, but we could see an amazing sunset in front of the house, and a just as beautiful sunrise in the back. We have two little kids and they loved running outside. The house is beautifully decorated, and very organized.

    Arianne2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our time at The Cottage! The space was great; we ended up mostly staying inside due to the cold weather, and had a wonderful time. There are several activities in the area that we'll try to explore when it is warmer! Dina is great with communication (and also has some great muffin-making skills).

    Jennifer2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • My friends and I stayed in Dina’s place for a girls weekend. It was absolutely perfect. It was so homey and cozy, the muffins Dina made were AMAZING, and we just felt to welcomed and had all that we needed. Dina made sure we had everything we needed, checked in with us, but wasn’t intrusive. The place was so nicely decorated and it felt so private. You can’t beat the views (my friend said she saw over a dozen deer our first morning!). Dina also didn’t have any guests checking in the day we checked out, so she offered us a few extra hours, which was super appreciated since we had checked in so late the first night. I hope to come back with my husband in the spring or summer and enjoy the place again! You will definitely not regret staying here!

    Sarah2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Dina's place is beautiful, clean and looked as it was posted. Dina was a fantastic host and even baked us a cake. It was a relaxing a few days escaping the city and would come back.

    Jeremy2020-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • Dina was very attentive prior to the visit and we look forward to staying here again. Specifically, the cottage interior was quaint and thoughtfully decorated with Asian art. The place offered privacy being away from the main road. The muffins were an added touch to make one feel at home. The getaway from Northern Va/DC proved to cure our daily stresses!

  • Taylor Den/ Joshua's Place was a wonderful place to stay. Located within minutes of Harper's Ferry, and the Harper's Ferry NP Visitors Center and very near the confluence of the Potomac and Shenandoah rivers. Rafting, etc. The apartment was comfortable, sparkling clean, and perfect for a couple, or family of three. Outdoor space with gas grill and fire ring during nice weather. The room is its own mini-apartment and is very clean. Comes stocked with a coffee maker, microwave, mini fridge, and some light snacks. Chris was a gracious host who was happy to talk me through a map of the local area, highlighting his recommended restaurants and how to best reach the local trailheads. A go-to spot for any hiker!

  • This place is amazing! Sparking clean, beautiful decor and just a great vibe in general. The host provided everything you’d need to feel right at home and responded to messages super fast. She even offered early check in if we needed it. Very close to the main streets of Harper’s Ferry and just a few minutes drive from popular hiking trails. Definitely recommend!!

  • The home was gorgeous and well-stocked with everything needed for a comfortable stay. Walking distance of downtown HF & easy parking. Would absolutely rent again!

    Leah2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Alex’s place was a dream! I’m sad we only had one night to spend here. If you love plants and great vintage finds, you’ll love this place! The details and thoughtful touches were great, and I indulged in the jacuzzi tub after a long hike. At this price, it’s a total steal. On top of it all, hosts were really responsive and accessible- offered lots of great suggestions for date nights and food! Can’t wait to come back again :)

    Caitlin2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent place! Very neat interior!

    Will2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time staying at Alex’s place in Harper’s Ferry. Her space was eclectic, fun, and had many plants (a plus for plant lovers). Their kitchen had everything you would need including a very nice espresso machine. We had never been to HF before and she was so helpful giving us tips for local wineries, shops, and hikes. She even went out of her way to give a map of a local hike! Definitely recommend for a place to stay in HF

    Elizabeth2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Alex’s place is very conveniently located, and we had a great stay. The house was sparkling clean, and there were many thoughtful touches like candles, a nice coffee maker, and plenty of kitchen supplies. Check-in was very easy, and Alex was really easy to get in touch with. We would highly recommend as a place to stay in Harpers Ferry!

    Katie2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Alex's place was fantastic! The space was extremely clean. The house was very eclectic and beautiful! If you are a plant lover like me, this place is an oasis! There was plenty of space to entertain both inside and on the porch (which we enjoyed the fire pit with the cold weather). Also, the jacuzzi tub was quite enjoyable. She gave us great recommendations for nearby restaurants, breweries, coffee shops, and wineries. The location was very close to all these places and a blissful walk to historic Harpers Ferry. Vivo Spa is less than a block away that was very convenient to refresh after a long day. Kelley Farm Kitchen is a great hipster vegan place that was delicious and right at the end of the street. The views from Alex's place was gorgeous! We will definitely stay here the next time we are in Harpers Ferry!

My home is in a quiet wooded area outside of town. You won’t find sidewalks, streetlights, or manicured lawns here. Instead you will find a natural, woodsy setting, occasional deer in the yard, and a million stars on clear nights.
You are welcome to use the kitchen, reading area, living room, and bathroom, as well as the deck. My house is not new, and everything isn’t perfect, but it’s comfortable and welcoming, and quite colorful.
Ten minutes from Shepherdstown, 15 minutes from Harpers Ferry and Charles Town, 20 minutes from Antietam National Battlefield Park.
  • Very quiet and chill spot close to Harpers Ferry and the surrounding areas! Mary Elise was very responsive and made checking in as simple as possible. This is a great spot for checking out the surrounding historical and natural parks nearby!

    Angel2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • I had a wonderful stay at Mary’s. It’s in a perfect location between Shepardstown and harpers ferry. Very cozy room in a secluded neighborhood, perfect for a weekend trip

  • Brad and Mary were the most delightful hosts and I will definitely go back there when I come to Harper's Ferry next April (assuming there isn't a reservation already in place for someone else.) Getting there was quite an adventure, on beautiful country roads that just BEGGED for a sports car! Oscar, the tuxedo cat, was the icing on the cake - thanks, Oscar!!! :-) Also, the location was perfect for visiting both Harper's Ferry and Shepherdstown - both were no more than a ten minutes drive. Thank you, Mary and Brad (and Oscar, Pandora, et al.)

    Jane2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Mary was a wonderful host. Communication with her was very clear. The place was very affordable and therefore I was pleasantly surprised with how easy it was to use the bedroom for a Good night sleep after exploring Shepherdstown and Harpers Ferry. It was so nice not to have to spend alot to crash with my 2 dogs. She also gave very good advice on restaurants.

Immerse yourself in history as our guest at the National Register listed Stone House Mansion (1757). Home to Revolutionary War and War of 1812 officers, statesman, and Congressmen. Close to Historic Shepherdstown, Harpers Ferry, & Antietam National Battlefield. It has everything you will need for a comfortable stay. Our house is ideal for couples, families, solo adventurers, business travelers (available for extended stay). 1 to 6 bedrooms available- priced per bedroom.
This bright sunny bedroom is in the 1905 addition to the house, on the second floor. It has a double bed. It was known as the "Sleeping Porch", a special room for many generations of the VanMetre family to enjoy the summer breezes coming in from the many windows along two sides of the room. It has a nice view of the barns and other farm outbuildings.
You will probably see some chickens and cows. It is convenient to the highway and less than a mile to a supermarket. The new bike trail between Charles Town and Martinsburg, West Virginia borders the property. The State has placed a historical marker about Stone House Mansion on the bike path!
  • A wonderful, very historic home located near a bunch of historical sites. The hosts were very kind and available. They have a wonderful handout about the history of the house that I highly recommend reading.

  • Great hospitality and an amazing stay in an historic gem!

    Victoria2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Don and Barbera’s place is a real historic treasure with every necessary comfort. The room, bed, and bathroom were all comfortable and well equipped, the kitchen was also fully equipped and fully available. The house is spacious and the historic outbuildings are also preserved. There is a historic cemetery on the grounds, and also a pond. There is a highway close by but the place’s charm is preserved. We especially appreciated Barbara’s hospitality and Don’s going out of his way to share history with us, and their commitment to historic preservation.

    Paul2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely historic home, very clean, has everything you need and more. Donald and Barbara were great to deal with. Close to Shepards Town which is what I needed.

    John2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Barbara and Donald were wonderful hosts, and provided a warm welcome when we met at the house. They have cared so well for the place, in maintaining its historic integrity while keeping the amenities comfortable. It was a fabulous place to shift into the new year. Thank you for a restful and rejuvenating stay.

    Rei2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • My partner and I had a fantastic time in the sleeping porch and enjoyed our time. The house was perfect as we explored nearby Shepherdstown, and Don and Barbara were great hosts.

    Emily2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome! Super interesting history, plus a clean and comfortable room. Donald and Barbara were very welcoming. Quiet and easy to find.

    Susannah2019-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second time staying at this house and we'll likely be back for our annual bike ride again next year since it's so convenient to all the little towns in the area. The sleeping porch was a good size and had plenty of room for our stuff. Tons of windows with blackout curtains for when you want it dark. The parking is way away from a little-used road so we felt totally safe leaving our nice bikes inside the car overnight. The room has a freestanding A/C unit that vents out a window. It did a good job at cooling the whole room quickly, but was a bit loud. We just ran it until bedtime and then shut it off and were comfortable all night since the temps dropped into the 60s at night. Not sure if that would work in July though.

  • Marlene is a very warm and attentive hostess. She helped us and helped with questions when we needed your help. The room is much more than just a room. Although it does not have its own entrance, but you have a bathroom for yourself and also a small living room with TV, which also has a microwave, a fridge and a coffee / tea maker. Also some dishes are available. It is very quiet and relaxing there. Everything was very clean.

  • Paula and Ron were beyond amazing when it comes to hospitality and professionalism. The cottage was beyond what we expected as well. We planned to travel around a little more but found ourselves cozied up in the cottage visiting our “neighbors” aka the animals. The stay and experience was very welcoming. On our way out we misplaced our keys and they were very helpful with searching for them with us and were not rushing us out. Overall a wonderful experience, our first trip to WV couldn’t have went better!

  • The Last Rodeo Cabin is a great place to stay, everything you need and more there in a wonderfully welcoming cabin. Lots to do nearby, wine country, hikes, harpers ferry, etc. Not to mention the welcoming party of a dog, a cat, ponies, a horse, chickens..you get the idea. It was a fantastic air bnb, would highly recommend and stay again.

    Sebastian2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Great spot, very comfortable, Paula and Ron are very friendly and are great Host's. We would recommend to anyone for privacy and peace and quiet. The farm animals are a plus. Very comfortable and stylish place. We would stay again.

  • Location is awesome. The sweetest dog greeted us and I fell in love with him. The little stables, animals and Turkey were so cool. As soon as you walk in, the living room had snacks and beautiful decor. There were surprises everywhere. The kitchen was adorable and had drinks waiting for us. The bathroom was beautiful and that bed was so comfortable that we overslept the two days were stayed there. Whatever mattress they have, I need it. It was a perfect little place for two people with plenty of space. I will definitely be staying there again. It Felt like home.

    Feliz2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was very nice and clean. There were many extras like snacks on the coffee table and a couple drinks in the fridge. They really thought of everything. The location is nice, they have several animals, including a very friendly dog and cat who greeted us. We really enjoyed the stay here and plan to come back.

    Luis2020-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • Had an amazing stay here. Impeccable level of cleanliness and there was everything that you could need. It was very tastefully decorated, and especially appreciated the stylistic/functional touches such as great looking dresser and spacious bathroom. Check-in was a breeze and my only regret is not having time to stay longer. Hope to be back soon!

Enjoy the setting, walk the town, explore Jefferson County. This circa 1900 one story cottage in the "old" neighborhood area of Charles Town has been renovated and newly furnished. With two bedrooms (sleeps 2-3), 1.5 bathrooms and kitchen, the cottage offers a quiet base for exploring the town and surrounding areas.
Built in 1900, this cottage has design features of a period structure but has an updated kitchen and new bathroom fixtures. It is a solid piece of workmanship and is well-liked by town passerbys who often compliment its setting and look.
If you like 18th and 19th century history, the cottage is located on a street named after the wife of Samuel Washington (nephew to George). The streets of the town were laid out in 1786 by Charles Washington , youngest brother of George. In the nearby churchyard of Zion Episcopal, over 80 Washington descendents are buried. In 1859, the still in-use Charles Town Court House was also the site of John Brown’s trial and 2 blocks to the south of the cottage is the lot where Brown was hung following his trial and conviction. In addition to history, Charles Town offers modern attractions. Just a 10 minute walk away, there is a brewery, coffee shop, an ice cream parlor, and Charles Washington Hall which houses Bushel and Peck offering local farm produce, in addition to other shops and several restaurants. Or, thoroughbred horse racing, regular concerts, and a casino are within a 15 minute walk. With a bit more time and a short drive away, Jefferson County has much to offer visitors. Enjoy several hours or a full day in Harpers Ferry (6 miles) and while there , visit the shops and restaurants on the hill overlooking the town and rivers. Rafting and tubing on the Shenandoah River are readily available. Shepherdstown (10 miles to the west) competes with Charles Town when it comes to history. Built on the shores of the Potomac River, this small college town offers a main street of restaurants and shops with the Bavarian Inn on the hill overlooking the river. Across the bridge, is Maryland with the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal footpath and the battlefields of Antietam. Just as Jefferson County got its start as a prime location long ago, it remains a prime location today-- 1.5 hours from Washington D.C. or 45 minutes from Dulles airport. Come to Charles Town as a destination or use it as a base. You will be glad you did!
  • Highly recommended! Urath is a gracious and very responsive host. The space was clean and looked like the photos. The kitchen is well equipped for simple cooking. This isn't a fancy place but is cozy and the beds comfortable. Be aware there are NO TVs and NO internet! So if that's important to you come prepared with a laptop and wireless hotspot. Nice, safe neighborhood. Would absolutely stay again.

  • Such a gorgeous place! My friends and I came here for two nights for our spring break. Our favorite parts by far were the hot tub and balcony overlooking the Shenandoah River. This house is also a quick drive from Harper's Ferry and the Appalachian Trail, both of which we explored during the day. I would definitely recommend this place for a relaxing getaway with friends!

  • Edward was very easy to communicate with when arriving and upon departure . The house was sparkling clean. This property is perfect for those wanting to have a nice get away while also being close enough to attractions . The view from the back deck is also to die for, pictures do not do it enough justice . Looking forward to returning in the future .

  • Great place fantastic views and very clean house with 4 big bedrooms. 2 on top floor 1 on first floor an on bunkbed in basement. We slept all in basement an loved it. Word to the wise READ your directions carefully and do NOT trust your GPS you will get lost and maybe stuck in mud. If you follow the directions that are supplied to you you will have no problem finding the house but if you follow the directions on your GPS it will get lost.

  • Stunning location and wonderful value! The space is great for larger parties- very clean, well equipped and furnished, and up-to-date. The hot tub, scenic river views, and proximity to VA wineries makes it a near perfect choice for anyone looking to stay in the area. As a host, Edward is very thorough and communicative.

  • Beautiful house overlooking the Shenandoah River for a nice getaway with the family. Fully stocked kitchen (pans, utensils, plates, etc.) so you can do all you cooking there with a gas grill right outside of the kitchen on the huge deck. Books, board games and toys are an added touch and is child proofed with gates at both stairs. Harper's Ferry is close by for a day trip and enjoy the hot tub to unwind at night with the sound of the river below. Very communicative hosts which made the experience all the better.

Very pastoral, ~3 miles from Shepherdstown and ~ 7 miles from Harpers Ferry, WV.
The main farm house dates to 1790. The summer kitchen was remodeled into a guest house / greenhouse in 2009. Two twin beds (or pushed together to make one king bed) are available.
The rolling rural landscape here features mostly farms and estate homes. We live aside the old road between Shepherdstown and Harpers Ferry. This road was used notably during the Civil War by Hill's division on it's way from Harpers Ferry to Antietam on the afternoon of 17 September 1862.
  • I can't say enough wonderful things about this place! It is the sweetest, coziest, happiest oasis. The property itself is beautiful and waking up to a view of lovely farmland and sheep was so nice, and the guest house itself is even better than I expected. So many detailed touches and Cindy provided us with anything we needed. We plan to return, definitely recommend!!

    Joey2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • This place is amazing. Perfect in every way. It was cozy, unique, private, spotless, comfortable, and welcoming! We loved the whole layout. Everything you would possibly need was there, including snacks. Cindy is so warm and friendly and she cares about her guests. We enjoyed our stay so much we plan to go back in warmer weather to enjoy the patio as well. HIghly recommend this guest house!!

  • We had a great stay , very nice people and very accommodating. Also the space is perfect and they make sure you have everything you might need. Highly recommend and hope to stay again sometime soon.

  • Cindy and her home are absolute gems. She welcomed us and our dog with open arms, providing us with hiking and restaurant recommendations, and providing the dog with a safe and fenced in area to run, which was a welcome and unexpected bonus. The home is so cozy and full of plants. We woke up with the sunlight and to sheep baaing; our dog in particular loved the plant room. Cindy left us breakfast, coffee, and all the utensils we needed . I plan to come back here again soon! I left restored and rested.

    Rene2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Cindy was a tremendous and extremely welcoming host! Her unit is very clean, comfortable, and well-organized, with lots of beautifully-kept plants in the sunroom. There were many additional amenities when we arrived, and the unit has everything you could need. The unit is a separate guest house on the back of the property, so Cindy is always there if you need but she definitely respected our privacy. We particularly enjoyed walking around the property in the morning with our dog and seeing the sheep that Cindy and her family care for. She is surely a super host, and we would highly recommend the unit to anyone looking for a calm getaway in a beautiful area!

    Drew2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Much needed get away. Cindy and her husband were extremely warm and welcoming. I was shocked to see how much they had supplied for us when we first got there! Relaxing view of the green house from the bed room and enjoyed a cozy night by the bon fire! There isn't a kitchen, but we got crafty and enjoyed some roasted red pepper soup and broccoli that we made in the microwave!

  • Great trip! All as described. We used the deck everyday and enjoyed the entertainment from the bar. Perfect location to park our car for the Car Show. WiFi a little spotty but wasn’t a bother. The only thing I’m would suggest is a light blocking curtain for the smaller bedroom to block the light from the bar and early sunrise. Will definitely return next year! Thank you!

  • Amazing stay! Space was great and even though we had seven people, it was really easy to make the layout work. Josh was super helpful and responsive. The best part was being right above the brewery - great beer and great live music! Highly recommend this place!

Let's go glamping! Charming 1940s cabin updated inside with stylish mix of midcentury modern / vintage camp. It's a perfect spot for couples to spend a romantic retreat (anniversary or honeymoon, for sure!) and for solo travelers to enjoy a relaxing getaway from the city. The cabin is located on a paved road, and it is an easy 10 minute drive along the Potomac River to all the fine dining and shopping of Shepherdstown. Being at the cabin feels like instant vacay. Drop your bags and head to the rocking chairs on the front porch or shady stone patio. Great place to unwind. Stocked with books, vintage Scrabble and jigsaw puzzles. Gorgeous setting to enjoy Fall foliage. The large bathroom was recently remodeled to include tiled walk-in shower, heated tile floor, vessel sink and reclaimed wood accents. New toilet installed August 2019. Premium linens and toiletries included. Highlight review from a recent guest: “This was perfect. It looks kind of silly that I checked all 5 stars for every rating ... but this entire experience truly was a 5-star experience! The photos on the website are 100% accurate. The place was spotless. There was nothing we needed. Everything about it was super comfortable and relaxing. Our favorite "touches" were the rocking chairs on the front porch, the awesome shower, the Echo Dot, the coffee decanter, and I could just go on and on..." - Dave, June 24, 2019 Kitchen includes microwave, convection toaster oven, blender, and mini-frig. Complete coffee and tea station (including whole beans from Rations Cafe in Harpers Ferry), grinder, Chemex and electric kettle. Also coffee maker. Waffle station too. Please note there is NO STOVE OR OVEN-- take advantage of the many fine dining options in Shepherdstown. Charcoal grill and campstyle gas stove outside on the patio Ikea queen bed and fresh linens on main floor. Sleep loft with 2 twin beds is reached by steep stairs. Children are welcome but not advisable for toddlers as steep stairs are open and difficult to gate. This is a rural area, so cell phone service is spotty. No TV. Bring your tablet/laptop; high speed wireless internet is fast enough to stream music or video. AC unit in loft and ceiling fan for warm season. Heating unit in loft, portable radiator on main floor and heated bathroom floor for winter stays.
Enjoy a scenic 10 minute drive along the Potomac River to the fine dining and shopping in quaint Shepherdstown. Easy 20 minute drive to historic attractions and river activities in Harpers Ferry. Hike or bike the C&O Canal Towpath. Canoe, kayak or go tubing on the Potomac River (we'll provide river access instructions at the cabin). Check the Shepherdstown Visitor Center website for details about all the great things going on in our town. We love our CATF theatre guests! The cabin is on nearly 3 acres of woodland but does sit next to a road that serves a few residents of the nearby riverfront property. You may hear cars driving by, as well as their 4-wheel ATVs which can sound louder and faster.
  • Fantastic location and incredibly well-appointed. Full of so many fun activities - games, puzzles, a great CD collection, reading materials. Not to mention a cute downtown, and beautiful scenery. One word of caution to taller guests that the bedroom loft has a bit of a low ceiling. Everything else was perfect!!

The décor was packed with interesting items, and the bath was high-end beautiful with luxurious soaps and creams for us to use. The mattress was just perfect. ..." - Donald
Our house is one block from Washington St., the main street in historic Harpers Ferry, so it is quiet yet still close to all the action. The famous trains that run through town at river level are far enough away that all you will hear is a distant wail, if anything at all. Only a few yards away is the former Storer College campus (now occupied by the National Park Service), as well as the Appalachian Trail and the AT Conservancy headquarters. A stroll further down the street takes you by historic homes and buildings, and at the end of the street is the oldest cemetery in town, just above Jefferson Rock. The views of Lower Town HF and the two rivers are great from there! Note that this main residential section of the Town of Harpers Ferry (where our home is located) is over half a mile up a fairly steep hill from the rivers and the National Historic Park area (and also the C & O Canal Towpath). Through-cyclists on the trail, especially, should be aware of the strenuous ride up.
  • Minutes after booking, Lynn and Christian established contact and told us that they were looking forward to hosting us. Prior to arriving, communication was thorough and timely and when we arrived, we were warmly greeted and shown their beautiful space. This place is THE BEST AirB&B we’ve ever seen! Truly stunning and every need was already planned for. They set a high bar for others in the area, indeed! We will absolutely be back. I cannot stress how perfect every moment in their lovely suite was to us. Divinity!

  • If you're debating, just do it. This place was amazing!! Would recommend over and over again.

    Jennifer2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • We have stayed at AirBNBs all over the US and world and this is one of the best ones yet. There were so many thoughtful details from a full manual with room information and local places to visit to fresh slippers and robes for the sumptuous bathroom experience to a ready made fire and get-to-know you questions by the cozy love seat. We loved our little two-night anniversary get-away and the close walkable proximity to restaurants and downtown. It was only a short drive to Maryland Heights, which proved to be a great hike with excellent views. I can only imagine how lovely it would be in the fall with changing leaves....Maybe we will be able to get back there for a little baby moon! All in all, it was an excellent experience and we would highly recommend.

  • Sparkling clean, very comfortable, with many unexpected touches. You will NOT be disappointed!!

    Gerri2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • The pictures truly don't do this place justice. Lynn was a kind and fabulous host and we felt truly pampered and rejuvenated after our stay. Didn't realize how close the suite was to local restaurants and antique shops and historic downtown- didn't even need the car. We went on multiple lovely walks to enjoy the town, but always couldn't wait to get back home to that cozy wood burning stove and clawfoot tub. So grateful for the time we got to spend in this lovely space.

    Jocelyn2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Very lovely home. Lynn and Christian were very welcoming. The place is in walking distance to a lot of shops and sights!

    Robert2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Lynn and Christian’s place was beyond perfect! It was conveniently located near what I think would be considered downtown Harper’s Ferry and many wineries. We loved that the space had so many personal and thoughtful touches that made it feel like a true home away from home. From the chocolates left on our bed to the very detailed booklet of activities and eateries nearby, Lynn and Christian made our stay feel extra special. This was our first time visiting Harper’s Ferry and we cannot wait to return!

    Lindsey2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Lynn and Christian have thoughtfully created a space that is relaxing and comfortable. You will find it immaculant with all the touches that make it just what is needed for time away. The location is fantastic. If you choose, you can park your car for the stay and walk to many local resturants and things to do. All of this information is made available in a binder provided by these wonderful hosts.

It is just a few minutes from downtown Charlestown where you can find quaint shops, good eats, and the best coffee around. Also, the Charles Town casino and races! Also a 15-20 minute drive to historic downtown Harpers Ferry. This quaint 19th century town is designated a National Historic District by the National Register. The architecture of the houses and shops reflect the town's history as a transportation hub (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) , a strategic location during the Civil War, a thriving industrial center based on water power in the late (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) s. The Harpers Ferry National Historic Park offers museums, events, and tours. The Appalachian Trail courses through town as its halfway mark between Georgia and Maine.
  • A nice little place to get away. 🙂

  • Perfectly cozy and quiet abode in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains, easily accessible to Harpers Ferry, Charles Town and Loudoun County’s wineries and breweries. Would certainly stay at again!

  • The place was exactly what we expected - a cozy place to get away and use as a home base while exploring the area!

  • This was a great place to stay! We had a wonderful time doing a historic hike of the area and were so happy to come back to such a cozy and quiet place to stay. Bed was soft and comfortable, gas fireplace was great, and kitchen was nice and spacious. We especially loved having access to Netflix and Hulu access on the TV. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a quiet getaway!

  • Cute and quaint space in the middle of Harper’s Ferry. Easy parking, extremely comfortable bed and nice amenities. The guitar was even in tune! We only stayed for a few hours for New Years, but it was very nice to get out of DC for a night. It was also very close to breakfast cafe’s and scenic drives.

    Jenn2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • So comfy, had lots of dishes and pans so it was easy to cook and amazing WiFi !

Glamping in Harpers Ferry! Elevated 8' x 16' cabin in a lush garden property surrounded by trees. Full bathroom w/rain showerhead. King bed can be converted to 2 twins if requested. 1940s vintage decor. Minifridge, microwave, toaster, coffeemaker, elec kettle, minigriddle. Opens to an 8' x 16' screened porch w/ceiling fan, comfy seating, kitchen table & sink. Private spot yet in walking distance to all the great HF activities & dinner restaurants. Indoor/outdoor living & in-town convenience.
The tiny house is inspired by 1940s Park Service cabins but with modern comforts and amenities, a rain showerhead, a brand new Allswell bed, full insulation with air conditioning (and heating for the cooler months). The tiny cabin is new construction, built on the same property as our B&B (note our other listings on Airbnb). A garage sits between the tiny cabin and the main house on one side. There are trees/gardens on the other three sides. Beyond the trees are other neighborhood homes and a narrow, quiet street on one side. During this period of COVID-19 concern, guests will be given self-entry instructions. The cabin is thoroughly cleaned and disinfected between guest stays. You will not need to interact in person with either the hosts or any other guests. Wifi and Echo Dot. A small TV monitor is available with an HDMI cable if you want to hook up your own streaming device. Note that, it being a tiny cabin, we had room for only a 40-gallon water heater. If there are two of you staying, you may want to take quicker showers or allow a little time between showers so that the second person gets enough hot water. We permit a third guest, including children, but please remember that this is a tiny cabin, and the sleeping configuration is one king or two twins. There is also a cot and sleeping bag on the screened porch that could be used on warmer nights. Parking spaces are located in front of the main house. You will then need to walk around the house to the back of the property to access the tiny cabin. A barndoor style gate just next to the tiny cabin exits to a side street. It's convenient for access when walking or bicycling, but no parking is available near this gate. We accept government rates! Please inquire if you are in town on government business.
The tiny cabin is located in a quiet neighborhood in the Upper Town Harpers Ferry Historic District, away from the heavily touristed area and close to restaurants and a bar. Also, we're far enough away from the train tracks that the whistles are more of a distant wail. The property is visually private but is next to a side street. You may hear neighbors visiting with each other out in the street during the day. Because we're in a small town, we like to stay friendly with our neighbors. We know you'll be respectful. Quiet hours (10 p.m. - 7 a.m.) will be strictly enforced and noise complaints from neighbors will result in a negative review for the rare inconsiderate guest. We're close to Harpers Ferry National Historical Park, Potomac & Shenandoah Rivers, C&O Canal Trail, AT, Amtrak train station, Storer College, & Loudoun County wineries. Check in on Sundays may be delayed until 4 pm. The main residential section of the Town of Harpers Ferry (where our tiny cabin is located) is over half a mile up a fairly steep hill from the rivers and the National Historic Park area (and also the C & O Canal Towpath). Through-cyclists on the trail, especially, should be aware of the strenuous ride up. There are NO surveillance cameras on the property. We provide a map of walking routes to nearby views of the Shenandoah and Potomac rivers, as well as restaurant lists and info on local attractions. • We absolutely loved our stay at Lynn and Christian's place. The location was perfect, easy to walk to things but also private and quiet. We appreciated the attention to detail and decor of the cabin, everything was comfortable and cute! We are inspired to try and build our own now :). They are excellent hosts, not intrusive but also attentive and checked in to make sure we were warm enough and had what we needed. Definitely recommend this place if you are visiting Harper's Ferry!

  • The details and decor of this tiny cabin are amazing! We loved the location and how easy it was to get to the shops and restaurants of Harpers Ferry.

  • This tiny house is beautiful and lovely. It's definitely storybook material. Lynn greeted us at the door and made sure we had everything we needed. It was a lovely escape from reality to wander around the mountains in the cold and. I imagine it's even lovelier when the weather is warmer and the town is a little less sleepy 🖤
