“I loved staying here and wish that I wasn't just breezing through. The apartment is one of the most complete, pretty and comfortable I've stayed in. As others have noted, Linda thoughtfully leaves snacks and drinks for her guests. The Lake View Cemetery is a beautiful place to happen upon for a walk. I hope to return with my husband in tow, to explore the museums and concert halls, nearby and the neighborhood shops and restaurants when they re-open.”
This is an urban/zen carriage house apartment, cozy yet spacious with the artists recycling hand at work. The neighborhood includes all the faces of America. I live in the stately house adjacent to the garage apartment. There is a back courtyard with a fire pit area. The house itself is on Detroit Ave. The apartment faces the side street which is Thoreau. The neighborhood is quiet. People walk up to Drugmart or City Hall nearby and early on weekdays middle schoolers can be heard going to the school nearby, but for all this people activity, this urban neighborhood is peaceful. Folks who stay here say it is perfect for a retreat .Looking to disappear for awhile? Come to "Nan's Nook on Thoreau." In Lakewood. We are family friendly. This could be a good spot for a couple traveling with a baby . We can accommodate.
“Nan’s Nook is an excellent value, an entire 1 bedroom apt for a great price. The place was very clean and I felt safe. The bed was really comfortable. You can control the temperature of the apartment to your liking. Nan provides coffee (it’s in the fridge), snacks, and breakfast items in the freezer. Her description is accurate. The front room is very spacious and has lots of natural lighting. I loved the artwork. Her communication is great. If you need a place for one or two, do not hesitate to stay here. Local restaurants are good, too. Loved it.”

Located in the heart of the Gordon Square Arts District in the Detroit Shoreway neighborhood. You will be steps away from many award winning restaurants and bars, a movie theatre, 3 live theaters, vintage shops, art galleries, and record store. Less than two miles from downtown and the lake, you are are an easy bike ride to Jacobs Field, Edgewater Beach, Westside Market, Rock Hall and more! I take pride in doing everything in my power to provide a 5 star experience for my guests every visit.
“This place was quaint and simple but stylish and hip. I loved the decor, especially the neon pizza sign in the kitchen! I got a new record while I was out and was so excited that I could try it out with Chris’s record player he was so generous in letting us use. You can’t do THAT at a hotel! I really liked the record set up too, I might revamp mine at home so thank you! The apartment was very cozy and extremely clean and well kept too. A wonderful place to stay! My first encounter with an Air BNB and I’m happy it was a positive one!”
