Very comfortable place. The road in is a little rough so it helps to have an SUV but we made it in with a Prius. Short walk to some good eats and to a lake. We would definitely recommend to anyone looking to spend some time away from the world for a while.

Such a cozy little getaway in the pines. Paula and Rene were great hosts and put a lot of love into their bnb. Would recommend this to everyone. A mirror somewhere in the cabin would be nice though.

Communication was fast and so helpful, and checkin/checkout was easy. The place is very cozy and peaceful. Its an easy 5 minute walk to beautiful Forebay Lake. My 2 little boys also loved so much this area to play with snow. Wonderful spot to stay in Pollock Pines!

So clean and cozy! Traveling with kids made easy but could also be a romatic getaway without breaking the bank. Nice to be up in the sierras without trekking through the mountains though Tahoe's not far at all. Hosts are very accomodating and helpful.

Our family had a great time staying here! The space is a cozy but spacious studio, very clean, and comfortable for a couple or family with small children. A great value, and so much better than staying in a hotel. Hospitality was superb--our hosts went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. Bed was comfortable, sheets and towels were all new and high quality; fresh fruit, Keurig and popcorn machine were appreciated. During snow season, Pollock Pines is a great option if you are heading to Sierra. Compared to South Lake Tahoe, it is a shorter drive up from the Bay Area, and you are likely to have better road conditions and less morning traffic on the way to the resort. The cottage itself is conveniently located just off of the 50, with Safeway and CVS a short drive away. Would recommend 4WD as the last stretch of road is not paved and the driveway is on a hill.

This cabin was lovely: Rene was a very accommodating and hospitable host, and this was a perfect jumping-off point for enjoying the snow in the Sierras! It's a scenic, secluded location with plenty of privacy in the cabin. The bed was incredibly comfortable and cozy, and the hosts sweetly provided popcorn and hot cocoa with marshmallows for our enjoyment. There were also a number of board games and satellite TV to keep us entertained while we were there. Thank you, Rene and Paula, for this wonderful stay!!

Susan is an amazing host. This tiny little cottage was exactly what we were looking for. It's cute, quaint, and clean. It had everything we needed and more. It was a home away from home with a cabin feel. We wanted to stay somewhat close to the ski resorts to go snowboarding, but not get stuck in all the traffic coming or going. It's about 50 min to Sierra, 20 min more to Heavenly and 1.5 hours to Kirkwood. We would definitely like to stay here again.

What a very cozy and comfortable cottage! It was ideally situated for exploring the area as we did, from Nevada City to the North and Arnold to the South. Susan was and excellent host, friendly, available and provided us with many tips and recommendations during our stay. She thoughtfully provided fruit, coffee, tea, hot chocolate and bottled water for us. We really enjoyed our stay.

Our family had a great time at the cabin. It is perfectly situated next to the highway to Tahoe and fully equipped for home away from home feel.

Susan's cabin is the quintessential ski cabin equipped with all the comforts of home! The location is ideal located 45 minutes from Sierra at Tahoe. The cabin was perfect for two to four people. The living room is sapcious enough for a blow up mattress and the kitchen is excellent for preparing family meals. I also have diet restrictions and need to cook all my meals, therefore this cabin allowed me to maintain my diet while enjoy the perfect snow filled weekend adventure! You may need to travel 20 minutes to enjoy a day of sledding or snowman creation with loved one. This was perfect for my family. Susan helped us with directions several times throughout our stay and was incredible lovely to talk to. She even helped us when we got lost driving near Kirkwood Resort for the first time; she 100% saved us because cell services was very limited in the mountains making phone calls impossible and she was willing to text us answers to our questions. The entire experiences and vacation was a dream come true and a much needed break from city life in San Francisco. We would love to come visit again soon and are trying to make another trip up to this cabin in March! We love Tahoe. Thank you for being so warm, generous, supportive, and an exceptional host.

Susan was a great host. Very friendly and accommodating. She made sure we had a nice and comfortable stay in her cabin. The cabin is about 1.5 hrs from Lake Tahoe. My three other friends and I stayed in the cabin comfortably and traveled to Tahoe both days. The cabin is located in a calm environment surrounded by woods. We enjoyed our stay and thanks to the host for making sure that we had a wonderful experience. In the description it says they have one bed and a sofa bed which accommodates 4 people. But Susan put her air bed on the sofa bed to make sure we all can sleep comfortably and it did work out well for us.

Like Pollock Pines, Susan's cabin is a good mix of being away-from-it-all with handy conveniences when needed. We love Pollock Pines because it's home to Sly Park, beautiful Jenkinson Lake, and has convenient shopping. So if you forgot sunblock or fishing gear Safeway and CVS are just 13 mins away. There are couple decent eating out options too, (we LOVE Burger Barn). When wanting to stay in, Susan's kitchen is handy, cozy and in good operation. VHS movies and board games available for low key evening in. The deck in the back makes for nice time outside too. If feeling adventurous, it's only an hour away from skiing and snow play. This is a great location for small families or buddies looking for a place to relax after a day of outdoor activities. Bring an air mat to lay on top of the fold-out couch as it is like most fold-out couches. I read in other reviews Susan may have one handy for guest on request. We didn't meet the host face to face, but check in was so easy and everything was pretty much set-up, we had no issues that required additional attention. We would definitely come back in the future. This is a good deal for a stay in Pollock Pines.

The little cabin was perfect for my daughter and I. Susan was very prompt with her responses, and left us water, snacks, and coffee upon arrival. The location is beautiful. It was a great little get away!

We had a great stay. The room was super clean and cozy- there was chocolate on the pillows and water bottles waiting for us. There was also breakfast and coffee set up for us in the morning! Jim was super communicative and accommodating.

Jim was a superb host, the house is well set up to receive guests. He was really helpful with tips on what to do in the area and he was also great company. Pollock Pines is a restful and relaxed place close to amazing scenery from Tahoe to Silver lake. We would recommend staying here.

Jim was very responsive to our questions and needs and was a very hospitable host. The price was very reasonable. Natasha's Hideaway was a little crowded and stuffy, but since we were mostly using the room as a sleeping pad between day trips, it suited our needs perfectly. I would probably recommend it for children with adults staying in the Jim's other room.

Our stay was comfortable and Jim was a very accommodating host. The bed was comfortable and our host even provided bottled water, coffee in the morning and a bar of chocolate! We recommend this house for anyone traveling to Tahoe from the Bay Area.

Jim was a perfect host. He ensured and gave us good directions and instructions. We were welcomed personally, the house was warm in the cold winter with a wonderful fireplace. Everything was all laid out perfectly in the beautiful house architecture with a very good taste of style and design, the furniture, fittings, drapery all blended well. Got welcome drink and chocolates, gave us a perfect tour of the house. In the Morning Jim prepared hot Starbucks coffee for us. He shared his experiences, Jim guided us to a beautiful Apple Hill farm area of apples, vineyards and the store where he recommended to have the Apple donuts which he loves and we loved too. Morning we left and enjoyed Jim's beautiful mini valley pine wooded house. We would like to come back back as it is located between Lake Tahoe and San Fransisco.

We stayed at Jim's place for our ski trip to sierra-at-tahoe. The place was super clean and organized. We didn't get to meet him as we were checking out early, but the morning breakfast(coffee and oatmeal) was perfect for us and saved our time for 9am lesson at ski-resort. We would recommend anyone this place to anyone who wants to relax before or after a ski-trip to sierra-at-tahoe.

Small one room, second floor. Gotta go up stairs which are inside. Detached from main house. Hosts are the incredibly friendly and welcoming. There is a small fridge and freezer. Microwave and coffee maker. Small bathroom with shower. Sink is in the main living area. Very comfy couch and cozy bed. Very welcoming and comfortable overall. It's a little space but it's cozy and warm. I would certainly love to stay there again. They also let us bring our doggie and just loved having her. They are genuine dog people. Everything we needed they had; warm blankets, fluffy fresh towels, and yummy snacks.

Brandon and Erin are super nice, responsive, and generous hosts. Not only is their place super conveniently located, but the studio was also very clean and stayed nice and cozy warm. It has all the amenities you need for a nice, quiet, getaway. We were able to bring our dog and toddler, and since the space is detached from their house, did not have to worry about them hearing us or vice versa. If we're ever staying in the area again, we will be sure to book with them!

A lovely very separate cottage that was true refuge from the hustle and bustle of town and yet only 3 minutes away. Clean home, comfortable beds full kitchen all beyond our expectations. Our hosts were perfect available when we needed them otherwise we didn't know they were even there. Garden and meandering pathways were spectacular especially the morning we had to leave enjoying coffee on the covered patio watching the snow silhouetting rooftops and tree limbs. Larry and Howard paid Attention to every detail including a snowy morning.

Absolutely loved our stay! It was a short drive to the snow and their outdoor deck provided great views of nature and the winery across the street. The home is beautifully decorated and the kitchen was more than adequately equipped. After giving us a quick tour, Howard provided us with complete privacy. The vacation home is located about 50 yards away from the main house. We would enjoy coming back again.

Larry & Howard were truly lovely hosts and their space is magical. One of the nicest bed and breakfasts we have ever stayed in -- had everything we could possibly need, including the sunset of a lifetime right off the bedroom! We made good use of the sofa bed and it was a fantastic quality mattress -- will look forward to returning for a getaway in the forest.

Larry and Howard were the best hosts. We stayed there during a crazy busy wedding weekend for some friends and the check-in logistics were hard on our end but they worked with us to make sure we were checked in. They were great about meeting with us and made an effort to meet me even though I was hardlike there due to wedding preparations. I'm looking at possibly staying there for another wedding soon. The house was absolutely perfect as well and the surrounding area was beautiful.

I am still blown away by this place. From the moment I walked into the door I felt not only at home but utterly pampered! I always bring my own pillow when traveling but the bed and pillows were so comfortable I didn't use it once. I used the large tub with unlimited hot water every night and helped myself to the yogurt, granola and fresh Raspberries Cindy had left for me. If that wasn't enough Cindy provided excellent food suggestions in town and even offered tickets to a local play. My only complaint is that I was so busy from 9-5 I didn't have the opportunity to participate. If I come back to the area I wouldn't think about staying anywhere else. Thank you Cindy!

The spacious room was well decorated and light-filled and the bath was cute and vintage. It was comfortable and came well-equipped with a mini refrigerator and French press coffee! Cindy was friendly and incredibly helpful with contacts for the business I was in town for. I look forward to staying here again on my next trip.

Everything was picture perfect on arrival. The room was set up so perfectly that anything one could expect to find would be there. What a romantic getaway. Cindy was the most gracious of hosts seeing to all of our needs. This was an extraordinary experience.

My wife and I stayed at Cindy's Master Suite For 2 nights. The room is quite large and quiet. The bed was a good size, comfortable and my wife loved the bedding and the decor of the suite. I liked the jacuzzi tub after a long day of kayaking the American River. Cindy provided us with fresh ground coffe for the French press, organic cream, fresh raspberries, yogurts and she even shared some very delicious chocolate dipped macaroons made by her friend. Cindy's home is just a quick walk to the historic downtown restaurants and shops. The French garden outside the French doors of the suite was an enjoyable way to spend the late afternoon reading and sipping wine. We will definitely stay here again.

I had no problems w the neighbors, being " single " I felt safe coming back to my room.

Cindy is a marvelous host. We had special requests. She accommodated us. The room was spotless and there were countless thoughtful touches everywhere. Filtered water. Lots of options for hot beverages. Little chocolates on the pillow. A heated towel rack. Copious linens and bath towels. Fast WiFi. Cindy was responsive to every communication. A workman accidentally turned off the hot water. We texted her. It was on in 5 minutes. We are new to the area and thinking about relocating there. She agreed to meet with us and we actually had a lovely dinner together. We now think of her as a friend. Really, you could hardly have a better, more attentive and caring host.

Cindy's place is adorable. Close to downtown, walking distance, yet on a quiet dead end street. It was so quiet there...we never heard any neighbors even though the house has several units. We loved the bathtub for evening soaks after being out all day long. The shower set up is interesting---a hand held wand and no shower curtain. May not be the ideal situation for some people, but it was fine for us. All the other special features of the place were wonderful. Thank you!

Cindy's guest suite was cozy, clean and luxurious. She responded to our late afternoon request within 30 minutes, which was a huge relief as we had planned to camp in the El Dorado Forest but it was cold, raining and all the campgrounds were closed because of the recent fires. Oh yeah, and it was our wedding anniversary!:)) Cindy met us and recommended nice restaurants to eat and even made suggestions for our stay near Lake Tahoe. We had a great evening in Placerville listening to a female musical duo in a wine bar.

I'm in love with the hidden gem that is Pollock Pines!!! So much to do and everything is so close!! We spent two days at Jenkinson Lake .... Swimming, paddling around, jumping into the waterfall, hiking and biking. Pure bliss! There's a free community pool that the kids also loved. All minutes from the house! And a full size grocery store, dollar store, has, pizza place, etc just 5 minutes away. we stayed over Memorial Day weekend .... Busiest weekend of the year, i bet, and it was hardly busy AT ALL!!! Such a refreshing break from LA! The house was exactly as described. Very comfortable and we had everything we needed. Everything was clean and Ilya was easy to communicate with. Definitely appreciated all the games and movies. This is the perfect house and location for a family getaway!! We could have stayed a week longer and been perfectly content!

Nice, spacious house in forest. Kitchen had almost everything needed. Beds comfy. Wifi worked well. Close to lake. Pet friendly. Nice area to walk. Riding my bike was a tad challenging, but worth it. Steps to house steep. Not for wheel chair bound. My son has balance issues and extreme weakness on his left side, so the steps were a challenge, but he was able to go up and down them once a day.

We had a pleasant stay at Ilya's cabin in Pollock Pines for a wedding we were attending nearby. It had an enormous TV, couches, fireplace, porch, and fully equipped kitchen. The bed was very comfortable. It was serene and quiet, located near the lake and various stores.

The house is well equipped for hosting a family with kid(s). The house is fully stocked for furniture, entertainment and a great kitchen. It's about a mile and a half from Sly Park Recreation area which has a lake and tons of hiking trails. Three times we saw deer in the neighborhood nibbling the bushes which was fantastic for exposing my son to nature. The HOA has a nice clubhouse area with a playground and two swimming pools.

We had such a good stay here! Perfect for families. Lots of room. Full kitchen. My favorite part was drinking my morning coffee on the deck surrounded by pine trees and chirping birds. Beautiful area. The house is really nice and has everything you need. Communication was fast and Ilya was very accommodating and helpful. Would highly recommend this place and would stay here again if we had the chance. Check out beautiful nearby Jenkinson Lake if you have the chance. Also, the grocery store (Safeway) in Pollock Pines is really nice.

Ilya is a great host and the property was just as described - it's a great location and they have set it up really well. Ilya was very helpful all the way from the time I booked through when I checked out. He had many suggestions for things to do in the area and all of them were well worth it. Jenkinson lake is just five minutes away and it's a great alpine lake, the Shilla sushi restaurant is excellent, and the horsetail falls were awesome to see. The house is a great vacation home - internet and roku worked fine, kitchen is nicely set up and all of the appliances worked well. It is super quiet out there and the stars were incredible, well worth bringing a set of binoculars or telescope to see from the deck.

In case you happen to arrive at this cabin at night, do not fear the stairs. Llya has placed a motion sensor at the top of the stairs which lights up the stair case beautifully. The rooms are wonderfully comfortable and the kitchen is well stocked with all the cooking utencils you will need. The neighbors are nice, even to the point of telling us we'd accidentally left the light on in our van.

The location of this house is abosuletley spectacular. It sits on top of a hill with sweeping views of the surrounding rolling foothills. It has a view of the river (South Fork of the American). Plenty of wildlife abound (many California Quail and deer), this property feels quite secluded. That being said, it is an easy 7 minute drive to highway 50 and downtown Placerville. The room has an attached bath with shower and toilet. The bed is comfortable, and the bathroom is clean. There is plenty of light in the room, and a huge window offers views of the spectacular sunsets. The host is kind, welcoming, and attentive to his guests needs. If you need anything, he is willing to adjust and plan to make your stay the best possible. I recommend this house to anyone who is looking for a private space in the foothills of the Sierra. It is close enough to Placerville for any city-based needs or wants, it is surrounded by all types of outdoor recreation and wineries, but it feel like your own private space perched high on a hill with unlimited views.

This place was simply perfect - a close proximity (under an hour) to skiing/snowboarding, extremely clean and comfortable, and completely equipped. Cathy's communication was amazing - she was so kind and patient with us and ultimately so flexible and accommodating. The house is perfectly set-up - we got in late and it was so clear where to park, the lights went on for us, and even a light went on to see the lock to open the door. It really has everything you need and is a great distance from the Bay Area and the mountains. I highly recommend and would definitely stay again!

Cathy and Dennis have a great guest apartment, very well-arranged for visitors. It's quite private, and the fireplace makes it especially cosy. They considerately left snacks and lots of useful information. The location is in central Pollock Pines, near the shopping center and highway, but tucked away in a quiet neighborhood. We would definitely book a stay there again; the hosts do a really lovely job of making guests feel welcome.

A perfect little hideaway in the mountains! Quaint two bedroom was perfect for my little family! Apple TV and hot tub were a major plus! Cathy had great communication and very accommodating that made the visit smooth sailing! Definitely would stay her again!

We stayed at Avery House for two nights and we really enjoyed it. The location is great. Jenkinson Lake is only 10 minutes drive. Eldorado National Forest is also close enough. So if you like hiking or just want to visit these amazing parks, it's a good place to stay. House is very cozy, secluded, clean and has everything we needed. Thanks to Cathy we felt like at home. She is a great host, very friendly and welcoming. Cathy was easy to get in touch with and answered all questions we had. I highly recommend this place!

Bruce and Sondra were great hosts. They communicated well and everything went smoothly. The place was in an exceptional location with vineyard views and a lovely outdoor balcony. It truly felt like a unique escape. The studio has everything we needed and a nice rustic charm. It was slightly hot upon return in the evening, but cooled off quickly at night. It is within a short drive of multiple vineyards, which were amazing! Recommended.

This is our second time stay. Both Bruce and Sondra are very nice and great host. Beautiful property. ( unfortunately our favorite Gold mountain winery was closed.....) But we found another great winery! We had to leave early than original plan due to our work situation, but we had a wonderful relaxed time with our 2 dogs! Thanks much.

The space is as described and Bruce and Sondra were very welcoming, there wasn't any water when we arrived but Bruce fixed it after a few hours. We also struggled to get any hot water. The cabin is located in a beautiful place and is walking distance from several vineyards for tastings. Overall we enjoyed our stay but thought the price was too high for the accommodations.

Beautiful setting, good location and nice accommodations. It was nice to wake up and enjoy the views on the morning. We brought our two large dogs and appreciated how dog friendly Bruce and Sondra are. Everything was clean and well stocked. We struggled a bit with the shower temperature, but overall really enjoyed our stay.

Great communication between us and our hosts and we were warmly welcomed. The space is a lovely loft area with all the essentials. The surrounding area has plenty of great wineries to check out and a few great river spots. If you're looking to escape and get away from things, this is a wonderful location to relax!

I was on the property for a very short time- just one night and then had to leave early for a meeting- but the property is beautiful and the studio was perfect for my needs. Would have loved to stay longer and explore the area, but what I did see of Amador wine country was truly beautiful. Bruce was very communicative and friendly, overall it was a piece of cake to arrange and a darling place to sleep.

Bruce made us feel right at home and was a gracious host. The property is beautiful and rural, neighboring a winery and vineyards. Very nice setting. The studio is nicely appointed with granite counters, big flat screen TV, fully stocked kitchen, etc. The WiFi was weak - better if you sat out on the deck where there was a clean line of sight to the main house where I assume the router is located. Trying to get WiFi inside the unit was hit and miss, again because of the distance from the router. The futon was comfortable, especially with the feather bed for additional cushioning. It would be nice to have a small table by the futon for those little bedside items (cell phones, wallet, watch, etc.). The bathroom is super tiny with no counter space at all. We made do but it would have been nice to have more room. There is a shelf on the wall but it's pretty small. The shower is small as well but passable. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and the place is quite nice despite the couple of minor shortcomings noted.

Chaz was a great and welcoming host, who took the time to show around the apartment and told us some interesting stories about the photos on the wall :) The studio was spotless, nicely designed, brand new and private as it is a separate unit from the house. There was a small miscommunication regarding the AC/heating settings but Chaz was very cooperative after we talked about it. Make sure you follow the directions she gives you to reach the house because our GPS location was a bit off (pay attention to the signs on the trees especially at night).

We had an enjoyable short stay, the property was easy to find because Jim & Sharee provided very accurate directions. The very clean 2 bedroom/ 1 bath w/ full kitchen is quite user friendly and was stocked with some amazing and thoughtful goodies that we all graciously enjoyed. Did not get to enjoy the nice outside patio as we arrived late and left early the next morning, got a great nights sleep in a comfortable bed and all plumbing worked perfectly. If you need a place to lay your head in the Apple Hill area, this greatly surpasses any motel room in the area. Did not get to meet Jim or Sharee, but they have it going on, as every little detail was as described and better. Would definitely stay again when back in the area. Thanks Jim and Sharee!

This is a really great place to stay at! Really quier and relaxing! It was nice of Jim&Sharee to leave some snacks for us. The place was really clean and everything you need is there! I wish it was a little bit closer to south lake tahoe it was a bout a 45 min drive but everything was fine:)

Great place, we traveled here for a relaxing weekend away from the Bay Area, and this provided a great base to relax in a comfortable setting, while being close to Lake Tahoe and other great hiking sites. The house is well equipped with everything you need, the hosts were very welcoming and responsive. I would definitely recommend this place.

We stayed here for 2 nights with 2 year old toddler. The place is very quiet and clean. The interior is very nice too. Just 45min drive to South Tahoe, it was perfect for our sleding trip :) We higly recommend this place for anyone who visit Tahoe or just get a way trip.

They majored in the little things. The little touches of home that made staying with our four munchkins as positively pleasant as can be.
