  • Amazing place to stay and we will definitely be back to stay with sean again. The house was sparkling clean, and everything went very smooth. The house was heated and the lovely stove lit for our arrival. When we came back to the house on Saturday evening from a cold wet day, the stove was lit again and house warm for our arrival. The house is ideally located with the towns of claremorris, castlebar amd Westport a short drive away. The welcome we received from the locals was amazing and the hospitality in the local pub was something we will never forget. We are looking forward to our return already to Sean’s and Ballyglass. If you are booking - you will not be disappointed

  • Beautiful house, in a very secluded location.

  • Sean's place is perfect for a cosy relaxing stay. We loved the turf stove. Good fully equipped kitchen.

  • It is a neat and lovely house, with more space than I expected. Two bathrooms, big kitchen. Good beds. Quiet place. And enough turf for the fireplace. The view on the mountains (from upstairs or outside) with snow on it between the green lands is fantastic. Lovely place to stay!

    Deborah2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Sean and his wife were very welcoming, fire was lit for us when we arrive and the cottage was so homely. Plenty of leaflets on what's available to do locally. Castlebar is nearby which has a great arcade for bowling games and a cinema. Westport is withington driving distance too. Plenty of options!

  • Great stay, lovely open fire when we arrived

  • Excellent stay and beautiful building. A welcoming and clean loft with a sauna and more. Close to downtown Claremorris. Declan was a great host, attentive to detail and easy check - in. A hidden gem for travelers through the Emerald Isle. I recommend and will return!

  • Really nice accomodation to stay for a week (or more) , lovely terrace with pool table and sauna, big space to enjoy even in raining days! Really comfortable and quiet! Thanks Declan!

    Andrea2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Declan's little cosy loft was exactly what myself and my partner had hoped for and much more. We didn't want the traditional getaway of a hotel etc. and we wanted to relax. The loft provided us with just that experience. The place itself was clean and had everything you needed. The pool table, mini gym, and sauna were excellent additions to our relaxing getaway. Declan was a great host who communicated with us very promptly and even when we had made a few last minutes date amendments he accommodated this without hesitation. We will most certainly return in the future and have recommended to friends.

Everything clean and tidy and full of thoughtful touches. So, big thank you for everything (particularly the bread which was amazing) Charles.

Her space is cosy, comfortable & quiet, just what we needed in between visiting relatives. The location is ideal, out in the country, but still very close to Claremorris. We both loved the delicious bread Geraldine kindly provided for us. Cecilia & Rob

Town house in the centre of Ballinrobe, with private parking and close to all amenities. This is the ideal location to base yourself if you intend touring in the West of Ireland-from Connemara to Killala, from Ballintubber to Balla. It is also near the Wild Atlantic Way, and the Greenway. You will get a great welcome and you will have free access to the sitting room to relax and to the kitchen should you want to cook. I will suggest scenic routes to take to tour or cultural events happening.
The house is centrally located in the town-just across from Flannery's Tavern. It is surrounded by other take out and sit-in restaurants and shops. Cong, with its famous Abbey and Ashford Castle, is 10k away and is a great spot for lovely wooded walks. Knock Airport is about 70km away.
A quiet area, though located right in this historic town, you will be able to walk all around the town. Ballinrobe is a small town, with loads of sites of interest-the old Workhouse, the Military Barracks, a number of mills, a lovely river walk called The Bowers, many sports grounds and a Leisure Centre. Children usually love the great playground in the Green. Ballinrobe is near the Gaeltacht areas of Tourmakeady and Cornamóna, providing it with a rich cultural flavour.
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Saras! The room is very nice, warm and sparkling clean and the bed is very comfortable! Sara is an exceptional host with great local knowledge! She very kindly let us use the kitchen as well. We totally recommend to stay at hers.

    Charlotte2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Sara is a fantastic host. I arrived in late at night and she had a hot water bottle in the bed, the night stand on and a little note to tell me to make myself at home. She was very helpful and made my stay very easy. Thanks Sara!

  • Nice place !! Relaxing and quiet !!

    Malcolm2019-11-09T00:00:00Z
  • Sara is a caring and generous person. She was able to advise us of the corners of the region to visit. The house is well located and close to the market town of Ballinrobe. We recommend it ++. PS: Trudy is so cute!

    Sophie2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Sara is an amazing host and we had the best time with her. In the room and kitchen you can find everything you need. She is very generous and gave us great tips what we could visit or do. We had very nice talks and she even gave us a lift to a gorgeous place not too far from her home. We will miss staying with her and hope to come back.

    Lou2019-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • This is a wonderful space and outstanding location but all of this is capped by a most wonderful host who will put you at your ease right away. Sara is fantastic, very warm. Thoughtful & welcoming. The house is beautifully maintained and spotlessly clean. This was a special stay. I can’t wait to return.

    FeeneyMatt2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Sara is a very welcoming person, her house is perfect, we could cook without problem. Sara had booked us a shelf in her fridge and another in her closet. She did everything to make us feel comfortable on vacation. She even shared with us her birthday cake. Even if she does not speak French and we do not English, we managed to exchange with help google translation and a notebook and pencil. Sara will remain for us the best host we have had in Ireland (out of 5).

    Ballinrobe, County Mayo, Ireland

The house is on an acre of private property in the heart of County Mayo in the west of Ireland. The views from the front of the house are of Lough Carra, a 4,000 acre lake famous for it's fishing and diverse wildlife.
The property is on the site of what was originally a boathouse for a country estate built in 1786. The boathouse still stands to the rear of the property. The house itself was built in 1968 by my grandfather, a keen fisherman, as a holiday home. When my grandfather passed away my father started renting the house mainly to fishermen, he even had a boat hire business that he ran from the old boathouse. The house looks south onto Lough Carra, a 4,000 acre lake. We have decking outside the house and garden furniture to relax on and enjoy the serenity. There is almost an acre of private property for guests to roam around in and a large lawn to relax or picnic on. We have an open fire which is the primary source of heating in the living room. The internet is quick and there is a strong mobile phone signal from the house. We have a few board games, playing cards and a vintage Rubix cube to while away the evenings by the fire. Many guests park their cars, close the gate and don't leave the property for a week.
  • We loved our stay at Moorehall. Patrick was a great host. It is like a beautiful little sanctuary away from the busy world. A true gem of a place in beautiful Mayo. We will definitely be back!

    Deirdre2019-12-24T00:00:00Z
  • You won't find a more amazing location than Patrick's place it's simply stunning. The peace and the quiet are second to none and it's so beautiful. If you're looking to get away from it all and enjoy nature then you won't find better. The accommodation had everything you could need and we really enjoyed our stay, I can't recommend it enough.

    Laura2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • Believe all the reviews, this spot really is as lovely as everyone says. Set in its own private grounds, right on the lake, this is an ideal getaway for, well, anyone looking to get away! Unfortunately, I wasn't blessed with good weather during my stay, but I still spent plenty of time out on the deck watching the lake and the many different inhabitants. I saw frogs, a swan family, starlings, moorhens, robins, magpies and, on my final morning, a grey heron, all up close (the frog sat in my hand!) . Completely unspoilt and with great woodland/ forest walks nearby in Moorehall. A really special place to stay. Bring all your own food and have a completely off-the-grid self-catering break. Also ideal for dark-sky watching- absolutely zero light pollution on a lake in a forest around 25 mins drive from any towns! Again, unfortunately, the weather didn't allow for much of this during my stay but I had just as good a time sat by the fire with the wind and rain beating down outside. Felt very safe here, despite being near nothing or no one. Really wish I'd had just one more day! For entertainment, Ballinrobe is a lively town with everything you could need (including a massive Tesco's for stocking up!) on an easy route around 25 mins drive away. Claremorris is roughly the same distance in another direction, lots of good places to eat and friendly people and independent shops. The cottage is simply a delightful place to zone out and enjoy wildlife. Absolutely delightful accommodation, a real find

    Lesley2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Patrick’s place was one of the most beautiful place where we have been. Right in front of the lake where you can do fishing and very quiet environment so you can sleep very well. He responded very quickly every time we had a question. If you wanna stay outside of city to look for a good calmness, this place offers you what you look for...

    Mami2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • This is an incredible place, very quiet and peaceful! A perfect spot to get away and relax a bit. Will absolutely be staying here again in the future.

    Will2019-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • A tranquil place to sit, be still and watch the world go by. This is a perfect hideaway or retreat for 1 or 2 with walks and nature right on the doorstep and a fire to spend the evening by. Wonderful

    Michael2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Definitely the place to go if you want to get away from it all. Was peaceful and relaxing. We spent most of our days sitting taking in the wonderful view which constantly changes with the light and weather. There was plenty of wildlife - a mink, the swan family, ducks, a coot, dragonflies, frogs, a heron, kingfisher (all seen on or around the jetty at the front of the house) and at dusk you can watch the bats and murmuration of starlings along the front of the house. Every morning I went for a walk around the garden to see what new mushrooms had come up overnight. Moorehall is at the back of the house on the other side of the road, lovely place for a forest walk. The house was better than expected as I had expected a glorified boathouse / shed and it was surprisingly cosy and warm. For a small space it is well decorated/designed with plenty of storage. The kitchen is more than adequate and has a lovely wooden worktop. The bed was very comfortable and has an electric blanket if needed. The house is a good base for exploring Mayo & Galway. We visited Kylemore Abbey, Clifden, Cong, Galway, Westport, Newport, Achill Island and Castlebar. Claremorris and Ballinrobe are both nearby for shopping or if you want to eat out. We visited The Old Arch in Claremorris a couple of times and the sunday lunch was really good. If we ever visit the area again we would stay here - excellent value for money.

  • Nuala is a really exceptional host, good spirited and always ready to help with the advice. I like her because she's not clingy at all and she's also good looking ;)

  • Nuala was very accommodating. We asked for an early check-in which she facilitated and turned the heating on for us at this earlier time. The room was spacious and clean. It's a lovely house in a nice quiet area near Ballinrobe and walking distance to a picturesque lake.

  • I recommend this place to ANYONE WHO IS STAYING near Galway.!! Innitially my boyfriend and I were going to just pass by Galway and go straight to Northern Ireland but our hotel there LAST MINUTE said that we could not check in late! (with super rude manners may I add) We were basically without a place to stay in the freezing cold and driving around in thick fog! Thank gosh for Nuala and her beautiful home near the city! The place was cozy, clean and super accommidating. Thank you for much Nuala for saving our butts and answering on such late notice on a late winter night! She was so quick to respond and the check in process was so easy. Again, I reccomend this place to anyone who is passing by Galway and wants to experience a true AirBNB superhost. Truly lives up to it. <3 Love Viv & Ken

The bungalow is situated 5 minutes walk from the centre of Claremorris with it’s restaurants, pubs and shops. There is a train station in the town as well as buses providing transport to Galway, Dublin and Westport. Knock airport is a 20 minute drive from the house and the shrine at Knock is 10 minutes. It is very well situated for exploring the West of Ireland. If you like walking explore the Wild Atlantic Way, Achill Island, Enniscrone beach or climb Croagh Patrick.
Being a bungalow the rooms are all on one level so no stairs to negotiate. There are 2 guest bedrooms, one with a double bed and one with a single bed. These rooms have exclusive use of the bathroom at the end of the hall which has a bath and over bath shower, wc and handbasin. You are welcome to use the fully equipped kitchen if you want to cook for yourselves as long as you wash up and leave it tidy. I provide a continental breakfast of juice, coffee or tea, cereal, toast and homemade marmalade. You may also use the garden patio if the weather is nice or the very comfortable living room with wood – burning stove and Sky TV to relax after a long day’s sightseeing or travelling. The dogs and I are happy to join you for a chat or we can retire to our own area and leave you in peace to enjoy the home comforts as you wish.
  • Lovely quiet bungalow on the edge of the town, stove was lovely and warm in the sitting room, and host said to make myself at home and had full access to kitchen and cooking if needed. Room was small & cosy with wifi and desk & chair and right next to bathroom which was spotless. Tricia the host was very helpful. Denis

  • You can expect a warm welcome in a very clean house which is very close to the town of Claremorris.

    Don2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • One of the best and most excellent Air B&B experiences I ever had !! Prior arrival Tricia communicated very quickly with directions and tourist attractions to see in the area. Upon arrival I was stunned with the beauty of her house & big garden, which were decorated to the highest standard, cleanest rooms and bathroom facilities. Tricia asked me about my dietary requirements and made me a gourmet breakfast with fresh grounded coffee each morning. I was invited to use her kitchen, washing machine and beautiful living room. The house has a very positive atmosphere and the rooms are very private, the bed was super comfortable and the linen & towels of high quality .. like a 5*hotel .. . My stay with Tricia re-energized me, and it was a perfect holiday experience. Tricia was incredibly helpful with her time and advise, she is very professional, kind, respectful, caring and you can have a great chat with her :-) Tricia’s house is certainly the best place of you want to visit the Clarmorris area, it is very central and I highly recommend that you book several nights with her to get the full Mayo experience! It is a home if you are away from home and you will not want to leave :-) Thank you very much for having me Tricia and I look forward to book in with you during my next trip to Ireland :-))

    Uta2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • This was my best Airbnb experience so far. Tricia is an excellent host, very thoughtful and caring. She has picked me up by car and dropped me off when I was leaving too. We also went on a trip to a beach about an hour away. Tricia is very relaxed and always calm, enthusiastic about sharing stories and casual chatting, but also very respectful when you want some time on your own. The small town of Claremorris is very charming with all the amenities you need, a beautiful park and a lake, all within walking distance of Tricia’s house. I highly recommend staying with her as I definitely would again!

    Aneta2019-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • One of the best Airbnb experience I ever had so far, it couldn't be better than this! I highly recommend whoever visit to Mayo to stay in Tricia's house. She kindly pick me up from the bus station, when I arrived at her place I just felt like home immediately. The interior of her house is so beautiful with exotic decorations, very clean and also comfortable. She is a very nice person with good humour, I was very enjoyed to chat with her and being there. There is a lovely walk and a lake, you can walk to the shops or town, the breakfast was great, just everything was perfect for me. Thank you Tricia :)

  • This place is really nice, and is much bigger than it seems. It’s in a really rural location with great views and is easy to find with sat nav. Everything you could need is provided ... some good music to listen to in the evenings too or dvds to watch if you’re in ... we travelled about a lot there’s so many lovely places to see in Co Mayo. Thank you for the hospitality.

  • Liam & Noreen are adorable, they made us very welcome at their home for one night, their dog was also very happy too, he only asks to be petted. The room is immaculate and we were able to use the kitchen as we see fit, I recommend all travelers to stop by Liam & Noreen

    Anastasia2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Nice farmhouse completely renovated. One of the best stays of our Irish road trip. Noreen was there to welcome us despite our late booking. Liam speaks a little franca

  • Perfect experience ! Liam and Noreen are very cute (as their small dog) and very interested people ! I recommand at 1000% !! Beautiful old farm, so "charmante" with all comfort !!

  • Wonderful place, cosy & relaxing. Noreen was so kind and had lovely tea & biscuits on arrival and offered me a lift to the local village. The dog ‘Harris’ was so cute and friendly. A must place to stay if you are visiting Ballinrobe.

    Grainne2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Liam and Noreen are absolutely wonderful. Their dog Harris is especially cute and friendly. They made Ireland feel like home. The coffee outside in the garden will be something I will remember forever. Thank you so much again for an unforgettable time.

    Rebecca2019-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great place to stay to explore the West of Ireland. Both Liam and Noreen are extremely welcoming and helpful hosts, opening up their beautiful house to us and making us feel completely at ease there. The bedroom was a good size and characterful with wooden floors and cupboards, and with the additional benefit of a sizeable en-suite shower room. The breakfast, left on the kitchen table each morning, set us up perfectly for the day.

  • A perfect place to stay. Clean, bright, quiet, spacious and modern. I was on a cycling trip and so the facts that there was a really good shower and that I could adjust the temperature of the room really easily were also important to me. Also, the place was really easy to find. Agnes was a great host and ensured that I had everything that I needed. Impossible to find fault with any aspect of my overnighter. Many thanks, Agnes!

  • Matt's walk is extremely informative and well curated. He takes you through some of the less conventional spots in London that you wouldn't ordinarily know to look out for. He is not only knowledgeable about the place but also the history behind it and is happy to answer any questions you may have. He ensures that the tour is interactive and is also a great listener. He is also very accommodating to the needs of the group makes sure that everyone has a great time. Additionally, he also gave us some excellent food and drink recommendations.

The house itself is in the little village of Crossboyne, 5 mins drive from Claremorris. It was a perfect base for us to tour around Mayo. Fabulous gamesroom in the room just inside the front door. Then once you're up the stairs, everything is on the one level which was great for us. Elaine is super nice and always at the end of the phone if needed.

    Rural Setting
  • We really enjoyed our stay at Green acres. Accomodation is spotless clean and so much thought has been put into equipping it with all the essential items and equipment. Kids loved the donkeys and the safe play areas surrounding the cottage. Thanks again to Catherine and Martin who are excellent hosts.

  • Catherine was away for our visit but her daughter looked after us so well. The house is a beautiful old cottage with a terrific view of the surrounding fields and mountains. We were in Ballinrobe for a family occasion and the cottage was a lovely haven for us. We enjoyed the nostalgia of sitting by the turf fire (turf supplied) sipping a glass of wine and the patio was quite the sun trap during the day. The Moore Hall Woods & Lough Carra nearby were lovely and well worth the visit. This was our second time staying in Green Acres cottage and we would definitely return again.

  • Bernie & Paul are very welcoming hosts and offered us great hospitality. The house is on the family farm and has space for the kids to play outdoors. Bernie provided cereals, milk, bread, cheese, butter, tea, coffee and more - a warm Mayo welcome. The house was used by the family until recently so the kitchen is fully equipped. Highly recommended.

  • We had such a wonderful stay! Such an authentic irish experience. The house was huge, pictures do not do it justice. Our host was amazing, immediately made us fell welcome, the house was so cosy and well kept and she was so helpful. This would be ideal place to explore the west of Ireland and is easy accessible. Ideal for families. Highly recommended

  • My partner and I loved our time at Gamo's House! We loved the mixture of the farmhouse set on the grounds of Paul's active farm with a modern interior. The bedrooms are huge and super comfy. We had the full use of the kitchen and general living spaces like the cozy living room and reading area. Bernie had even left us some jam and scones as well as milk, tea/ coffee and cereal. Bernie and Paul gave great advice on local places of interest and were always available if needed. If you're looking for a base to explore the Mayo and Galway region, this is perfect

  • We had a great week in Jon's traditional family home. It is ideally located to visit the region. Jon and his wife are attentive and discreet hosts. They give many tips about the area and the sights. Do not leave without visiting the small town of Cong and especially without having to taste the wonderful homemade sandwiches and the unforgettable carrot cake of Jon's shop and his wife. To recommend without moderation.

  • Eileen has provided a home from home where you can enjoy a warm, cosy retreat from the stress of the outside world. We stayed here on a cycling holiday around the beautiful countryside of Mayo and Galway and found it to be a perfect base. Coming back from a ride, tired and most often wet, it was a joy shower, eat and relax in front of the turf fire. Eileen was friendly and welcoming and always there to help with the very few queries we had, the dogs were also a great source of entertainment. We loved every minute of our stay.

    Fred2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • A real pleasure on a real farm ! A quiet place to feel the real irish nature! Perfect with kids and babies as the place is really quiet safe at the end of a road and with many animals!

    Elsa2019-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • If you're looking for peace and quiet and comfort on an Irish farm, look no further. Eileen's place has everything you need to make your stay as comfortable as possible and feel at home. We loved being welcomed by the turf fire, the music and the friendliest dogs we've ever met! In the cottage, all three bedrooms have very comfortable beds and there are a new reclining sofa and an armchair in the lounge. The electric shower is powerful and the bath is convenient for children. Brendan and Eileen are great hosts, they showed us what life on the farm was like and my five-year old loved feeding the chickens, getting some fresh eggs and seeing the dogs at work gathering the cattle. Most importantly, he loved playing with the dogs and it was very mutual! In fact, my son was scared of dogs before and left Farm Cottage crying because he didn't want to leave 'his friends'... The garden is great for kids, there's a little fairy garden in the corner where they can draw on some slates and if they are city kids, staying on the farm is even more special. Thank you Brendan and Eileen and we're hoping to come back to County Mayo in the future.

    Marie-Laure2019-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • A quiet, cozy cottage set in the idyllic Mayo countryside, Farm Cottage was more than we could have hoped for. Eileen welcomed us with a glowing turf fire and was a kind and considerate host. Lovely walks along country roads are to be had right outside the door, and Claremorris is within easy reach. We'll never forget our stay in this beautiful place.

  • Eileen's farm house was wonderful! We stayed there with our 2 toddlers, and it was incredibly relaxing after some busy days sightseeing in other parts of Ireland. We were very comfortable, had great beds to sleep on, and the kids played with the dogs and loved seeing all the animals, etc. Would definitely recommend this place to others looking for a change of pace.

A 200-year-old west of Ireland farmhouse which was tastefully renovated over the last few years. Crucially, we have retained the best of the house's old features - doors, window sizes and exterior effects. It is the ideal location to explore Connemara and the west of Ireland. We will meet you on arrival as we live just a few hundred yards away. We are at a point between Ballinrobe, The Neale, Cong and Clonbur. The idyllic rural setting.
'Stone walls and the grass is green', as the famous west of Ireland anthem goes. Get away from it all in the peace and tranquility of this house, while still being relatively close to the major attractions of the west of Ireland: Cong, Westport, Croagh Patrick, Galway City, Leenane, Connemara and Knock Shrine are all within 45 minutes drive. You are just a few minutes walk away from the shores of Lough Mask. The view of Mount Gable (better known as Ben Levy) will soothe the soul.
Cong village is just a seven minute drive away - top-class coffee shops, miles of woodland walks, the glorious Ashford Castle, the historic Quiet Man film set and music in the pubs. Ballinrobe - ten minutes in the opposite direction. A busy provincial town with a number of larger supermarkets, pubs, restaurants, golf course, racecourse, gyms and various other amenities. The Neale - quaint little village where the word 'boycott' was coined. Pub and restaurant. A five-minute drive away. Clonbur - ten minutes away, charming village where you will hear Gaeilge (the native language) spoken. Pubs with great music and food, woodland and hill walks, a cracking place.

  • Stayed here for 2 nights with a friend. Tricia the host is a lovely, friendly & helpful lady. She has a beautiful home which was spotlessly clean & tidy. Beds were lovely & comfortable. Tricia provided a breakfast which was a bonus. There was a choice of cereals, bread, croissants, scones fruit & yogurt. We were attending a function outside of the town & needed to use a taxi which cost us €5 in total each way! Tricias home is just a 6/7 minute walk from the town. So even though you are close to town you are staying in a nice quiet area. I would definitely recommend Tricias home as a place to stay & will definitely be back

  • A lovely spacious house in the perfect location between Galway and Westport. Ballinrobe just 5 minutes away. Lough Mask, Lough Carts, Lough Corrib, Cong, An Fainche all in close proximity. Two parkruns within minutes for active werkenders. Spotlessly clean. A great spot for exploring families. Brega was a very thoughtful host.
