  • We really enjoyed our stay! It had everything we needed and a really comfortable bed. We realized one big plus when we came back after dark. As we got out of our car and as we walked through the gate and up the stairs to the door, at each section, a new light came on. That's always a blessing when you're in a new place. Thanks for everything!

We are very close to restaurants, family-friendly activities, nightlife, & all the highways in Indy. Ruoff Music Center-12 min, downtown-20 min, Convention center-20 min, Grand Park-20 min, Airport-30 min. Apt has its own separate entrance w/keyless lock. Our place is good for couples/solo/business travelers/families w/small kids. (I have toys for small kids that they can play with)
This is one awesome apt! There is a coffee pot, microwave, toaster oven, tall mini refrigerator, toaster, 1 skillet induction hot plate & condiments. A selection of organic teas, hot chocolate, bottled water, coffee, oatmeal packets/granola bars for breakfast. The sofa is a pull out double bed. There are 2 TVs, kitchen table/chairs, games, & more amenities than a hotel would offer.
Great safe neighborhood with lush trees. We have a play area in the neighborhood, which is just a short walk down the street. We also have a large back yard w/a deck & a pergola you can enjoy your morning coffee on or enjoy your laptop w/plugin.

Welcome to Indy and the upcoming near-eastside. We've created a comfortable space we hope will make you feel at home. The home is perfect for work & play and close to the heart of downtown, Mass Ave and Fountain Square. No parties, no smoking, we charge a $250 cleaning fee for smoking inside the home. You may smoke on the front porch. The home is located in an older urban neighborhood. Many homes need some repairs and others are undergoing renovations.
No Smoking Please — 1920's 1 BR double in near eastside area. The neighborhood is undergoing much improvement. Many have referred to the area as “a work in progress”. **** we will begin outside maintenance, brick & siding repair and painting end of January **** Living room has new furniture, wifi, cable, smart 55" TV, Netflix, Prime, Hulu, lots of original artwork, Alexa, Ring doorbell cam, dining room has large table that can double as workspace. Full kitchen ready to use stocked w/essentials, coffee maker, grinder, spices, tea and whole beans are provided. Bath w/clawfoot tub, soap, shampoo, towels. Bedroom has comfy queen bed, closet, large dresser and TV. You’ll find additional deadbolt locks on both the front and back doors. A key to the front door deadbolt is available for use during your stay for an additional level of security. The outdoor and basement side light are on the same switch. We keep these lights on to ensure the side yard remains lit at night.
The home is only 20 blocks to the circle with easy access between New York and Michigan Streets, main streets in/out of town and with dedicated bike lanes. The near eastside urban community is in transition and has experienced lots of positive development and is centrally located in the metro area. We are close to major highways, I65 and I70.
  • Very nice place! Clean, nice decor, bed large enough for two. Lots of extra sheets and bedding if needed, and the kitchen has pretty much everything you would need. Bathroom had extra shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. Towels and washcloths, too. The only thing I have to say negative is that the tub is very small. I'm relatively small and thin and felt uncomfortable taking a shower. Minor downside, though. The location is great. It's just a few minutes drive from basic stores, restaurants, etc. but enough removed from the city to be comfortable. My boyfriend and I hate cities but we didn't feel overwhelmed or trapped like we often do when in them. The neighborhood is a bit of a fixing-it-upper, but we both felt totally safe. Plus, there was a really nice playground with a picnic area less than a minute walk from the house. Hosts replied very quickly to any questions throughout the stay. We actually decided to stay several extra days! All in all, this place is a catch.

  • Great house that provides everything you need!

    Rodney2020-05-03T00:00:00Z
  • I booked this stay for my husband. He said the home matched the photos, nice and clean, comfortable bed. It was very quiet so he slept well. Shower worked well, nice hot water. TV has lots of channels to watch. There was some bottled water in the fridge, some coffee, and flavored tea. The host gave good detailed directions and info. The location was convenient, only 15 minutes to drive to IU hospital. Easy parking on the street in front of the home and he felt comfortable and safe. He said he would be very happy to stay here again.

Historic meets modern in this unique space. Built in 1872, this one-room church turned Airbnb provides a one-of-a-kind experience and has been featured on Condé Nast, Love Exploring and Indianapolis Monthly. The entrance to Monroe Lake at Fairfax is literally steps away, and it’s only 11 miles from IU and downtown Bloomington. Enjoy the perfect resting place or sit by the fire after a long day on the water or visiting IU. The large, circular drive even provides pull-through parking for a boat.
The expansive studio will provide you with plenty of room to stretch out. The decor reflects the history of the church, with several of the original church pews and furniture pieces inside, as well as a collection of vintage camera equipment, as Brook previously used this as her photography studio. Cook a meal in the brand new kitchen with all of the bells and whistles, or just relax with TV and lighting-fast fiberoptic wireless internet. The kitchen includes all of the pots, pans, tableware and silverware you will need. There is a mixer, toaster, tea kettle, French press and traditional coffee maker. The bathroom was just added and features a beautiful tile shower. There is also a full sized washer/dryer for your convenience, as well as fire pit out back. We have also created a special house manual in which we provide our personal recommendations for our favorite restaurants, local attractions, hiking areas, etc. You can find this in the studio or we can send a pdf document with this information when you book, if you would like. The kitchen is stocked with coffee, tea, and various kitchen staples including spices, oil, salt/pepper, etc. if you plan to cook your own meals, although we highly recommend you try out one of Bloomington's famous eateries. Unlike a hotel, additional visitors to the home are not allowed. All visitors, even those who just come for lunch, etc, will be charged $25 each as extra guests and must be included in reservation. If you happen fall in love with the area or are looking to move here, let us know. Corey is a licensed real estate broker and would love to show you some places while you are here.
The entrance to Fairfax State Recreation Area at Lake Monroe is literally steps away from the building (entry fees apply). There is a restaurant and bar (Fairfax Inn) right next door, so you don't even have to drive to grab a quick bite or have a drink. There area also a golf course, 3 other restaurants and two other pubs within a mile walk or drive.

  • This old church building literally has it all. This is the most well-run airbnb I've stayed in to date. The space was so pleasant and pristinely clean and cared for. Lots of thoughtful touches and conveniences that constantly had me thinking, "oh, what a great idea to include that!" Loved the lake views, and the area is quaint and quiet. Really couldn't recommend these hosts and this space highly enough.

  • CJ's place was great! Quiet, private, relaxing. CJ is a great host -- there if you need her, but not intrusive. Everything we needed or wanted was available.

    Karen2020-05-06T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to have a camp fire and sit on the pond. It was nice being so close to brown county state park.

  • Beautiful quiet escape!

    Jennifer2020-04-12T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying at the Silver Moon. Cj was very accommodating - there if you need her or give you space if you need that. She did special cleaning precautions due to the Coronavirus and isn't concerned having you take a break from the stress etc. in her cabin. We enjoyed fishing and sitting out on the dock while enjoying the nature around us getting us out of the city into the pandemic. Fixing foods on the gas grill and more!

    Donna2020-04-09T00:00:00Z
  • Great location, close to town. Very nice and relaxing little place.

    Lindsey2020-04-06T00:00:00Z
  • I would highly recommend this Airbnb! I had a wonderful experience. Being by the lake is very relaxing. The amenities are wonderful—the view by the lake perfect for morning coffee or afternoon reading. I especially liked how everything was cozy and felt like home. The bed was comfortable and the kitchen stocked with the essentials. CJ is a wonderful host and is willing to help with suggestions of things to do in the area as well as making the stay smooth. Why are you don’t really need to leave the apartment to have a great time, I would also recommend checking out Brown County State Park.

    Elizabeth2020-04-04T00:00:00Z
  • CJ is a wonderful host and her guest home is exactly what you would want in a lakeside retreat: clean, quiet, with a spectacular view of the woods and lake. The amenities include a canoe and fishing gear! Not to mention the homely touches of a fully-equipped kitchen and bathroom, a cozy fireplace, and a bedroom with good temperature control. We will be staying here again soon!

    Robert2020-03-21T00:00:00Z
  • CJ DEFINES "Superhost"! The suite we stayed in was comfortable and charming...we wish we could have stayed longer! It is a perfect distance from the Nashville tourism area: it feels remote, but really just 5-6 minutes away. Loved our visit!

It is a 21x11 room in a modern style loft with it's own bathroom which is equipped with a shower and tub. It is a minimalist collated space in a cozy neighborhood with ponds and trails. The guest room is upstairs as well as a loft area with a desk. The kitchen is all brand new as well and free to be used by guests . There is a back patio as well.
Spacious open concept house. Guests have their own room with its own bathroom. The whole place is modern and gray scale. I love art and travel and try to display that in my place. All the photos are ones I have taken from around the world.
Quick hop to downtown Indy but a quiet ways away. There are trails and ponds for walking around. It is close to the highway if driving in from out of town. It takes between 25-35 minutes to drive to downtown Indy if attending a conference or event
  • Good spot to stay at on quick notice

We loved being able to keep some food for the weekend in her fridge and be able to use her stove. If you’re looking for a great place to stay that would be Nats!

Enjoy a large bedroom with an ensuite bathroom and private exterior entrance in our freshly-renovated home about three miles from the Circle downtown. The bedroom includes a desk, big-screen TV, small closet, microwave, Keurig, and full-sized bed with a brand-new foam mattress. The bedroom features several lighting options and blackout curtains perfect for sleeping in late. The bathroom is outfitted with hotel-quality bath linens, a blow dryer, and essentials you may have forgotten.
The bedroom offers a comfortable full-sized bed and extra blankets in case you get chilly. It also includes a big-screen television with Netflix access, a microwave, a Keurig, an adjustable space heater, and a desk with a desk lamp. You'll have your own ensuite bathroom, complete with a shower. Our WiFi password is available upon your arrival. For travelers with kids, we also have a travel-sized Pack n' Play available.
We're located in the transitional Englewood neighborhood, part of Indy's Great Places 2020 project. Some of the homes here may need TLC, but we know many of our neighbors and love where we live. You'll find a historic local library, two neighborhood coffee shops, several wonderful churches, and a few great restaurants within a few blocks of our home. You can expect that the alley behind our home, off of which you'll park, is in rough shape. That's fairly par for the course in Indianapolis. Some of the homes in our area are being renovated, and a few are still abandoned. We have lived in the neighborhood for more than five years and have never felt un-safe. And we consistently park off the alley without any issues. However, some guests who expect a different type of neighborhood have been unhappy on arrival. So please let us know if you have any questions about the neighborhood!

  • This room has become my “go to” place to stay when I travel to Indianapolis for concerts. Close to downtown and multiple concert venues around the city which makes it perfect. I travel alone and wouldn’t stay somewhere I didn’t feel safe. The neighborhood is developing but that doesn’t mean it is unsafe. Economical, clean, and safe...perfect.

The backyard is a second living room with fire pit for fun nights under the stars, picnic table and grill for meals outside, and hammock for relaxing and reading (and did we mention the hot tub?!). The rooms are filled with original art and books to browse and every surface makes you want to sink in and stay a while. We love to host and spoil our guests, so have tried to think of everything to make every stay exceptional. The neighborhood is very centrally located, is hilly and tree-filled and has plenty of charm. It is a mixed-income, residential neighborhood filled with lovely people who are always friendly and welcoming and keep the area safe. All are welcome (as long as the renter is over 25) :) Please check out our other listing if your desired travel dates are unavailable: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/39270957?s=67&shared_item_type=1&virality_entry_point=1&sharer_id=12332399
The bungalow is literally across the street from the 158 acre Potawattomie Park which offers beautiful hiking for miles. The spectacular Friendship Botanical Gardens are right around the corner and are open year round. There is a public fishing spot on trail creek about a minute down the road and the Blue Chip Casino, Washington Park and the public beach, all of the shops and the outlet mall are a seven minute bike ride or four minute car ride away. The beautiful berry farms, wineries, breweries and antique shops of Michigan are just fifteen minutes away in the opposite direction! It doesn't get any more central than this!
  • Just as the pictures showed. Beautifully decorated and loved all the small touches. They responded back fast to whatever we needed. Very clean and had everything we needed and more. Perfect for a weekend getaway!! Will definitely be staying here again! One complaint we had would be the water pressure to the shower. Which we didn’t even consider a big deal because everything else exceeded expectations.

  • We have been to this Air BNB so many times now and love our stay every time. Courtney and Lora are incredible. We have recommended this bnb to all of our friends and family and we look forward to returning. Absolutely no complaints at all. 👏🏻

  • This is a wonderful little getaway! Many little amenities were added that made our stay above and beyond great. Very clean, easy instructions, punctual communication and overall a lovely stay. Tucked away in a wooded, quiet neighborhood, this 16-foot tiny house has a full kitchen, a nook for eating or reading, and a cozy upper loft featuring a full-size memory foam futon. All horizontal surfaces, handles, and ladder rails are well cleaned with antiseptic wipes, and no guests are booked mid-week to double insure against virus. Near Butler University, Newfields, and Broad Ripple, guests can access White River or the Canal within minutes by foot or bicycle (provided).
All you need in 175 square feet! Lots of windows. Nook with padded benches, settee, and chair for hanging out. Window A/C for summer and in-floor heat plus space heater for spring and fall. Full kitchen (but no microwave) with three-burner propane stove, cookware, utensils, condiments, and mini-fridge stocked with complimentary beer and fizzy water. Full futon with foam topper in the loft, accessible by ladder. On-demand hot water for the tiny shower; sinks have cold water only, but tea kettle makes hot water in minutes. Composting toilet is pristine for each new guest. Fire pit next door to the south is available to guests. You’ll be happy you tried this tiny house: Tucked away in the woods, but surrounded by great neighbors.
Rocky Ripple is a 300-family neighborhood bordered on two sides by White River, a third side by a foot/bike path, and a fourth side by Butler University athletic fields. White Pine Wilderness Academy in the heart of Rocky Ripple teaches fire by friction, bow building, foraging and other ancient traditions. Check their Facebook page for events during your stay. Shopping is close at 56th and Illinois or further northeast in Broad Ripple village, accessible from the canal path or Westfield Blvd. Newfields, formerly Indianapolis Museum of Art, is just southwest of Rocky Ripple, and it's a pleasant walk down the canal path to Newfields or its 100-Acre Wood. Explore Rocky Ripple’s own Holdt Park and chat with growers in the adjacent Rocky Ripple Community Garden. Hike over the levee at Wapahani Park, next door to Rocky Ripple Town Hall, for access to White River. Kayak, canoe, and paddle board rental is available just a few blocks from the tiny house.
  • This Tiny House is indeed Tiny! VERY clean! Composting toilet smell is minimal if you keep bathroom door shut. Location is sweet in that it’s on a rustic lot in the middle of a neighborhood.

Maureen's tiny house is the perfect place to stay if you are looking for a cozy and warm place for two. Small upstairs studio apt with private entrance. Suitable for 1 or 2 people who prefer the independence of their own place (DOUBLE/FULL-SIZE bed might be small for two tall or larger people). Located in an OLD & quirky house in an OLD downtown neighborhood. See details in the SPACE and NEIGHBORHOOD sections below to make sure you will be comfortable here. No smoking indoors or out. Downtown-less than 1 mile, Notre Dame-2 miles, IUSB-3 miles, SB Airport-3.5 miles, Memorial Hosp-2 blocks.
This little vintage studio is suitable for solo travelers or couples who prefer the independence of their own space. One double bed. This place is old, vintage & quirky, so if you prefer new and modern it might not be for you :) This is an UPSTAIRS apartment; the private entrance is accessible by a stairway. Wireless internet is provided. There is no TV. The studio is pet-free. The space is completely NON-SMOKING inside and out. Some of the energy you use during your stay will be provided by our recently installed solar panels! Please read the NEIGHBORHOOD section below for a full description of our neighborhood to make sure you will be comfortable here. Studio details: The combined bedroom/living room has a small sofa, chair, work table, dresser, closet and a double bed. This bed may be small for two taller or larger people. The bathroom has a tile shower, small sink, and toilet---BUT please be aware that the bathroom is tiny and very narrow, with very little space for your legs when sitting on the toilet, causing most people to have to sit a little sideways on it. Plus you need to scooch around the toilet to get into the shower---SORRY! The kitchen is intended for LIGHT cooking and no strong-odor foods. There is a stove, microwave, sink and vintage refrigerator as well as dishes, cookware, salt and pepper, standard coffeemaker, French press and Melitta pour-over cone. Locally roasted organic coffees (regular & decaf), organic teas, organic half-n-half, and organic sugar and stevia are provided, but for longer stays, please plan to replenish these items on your own if you need more. City tap water is fine, but a water pitcher with filter (Brita) is provided. There are a total of 4 Airbnb apartments in the big old house. Walls and floors are solid, but not soundproof. Old floors creak. Thus, you will be peripherally aware of other guests in adjacent apartments, and they will be peripherally aware of you. Sheets are 100% cotton. The studio is pet-free and smoke-free. Wireless internet provided. There is no TV. Recycling & outdoor compost bin are available. LAUNDRY: If you need to do your personal laundry during your stay, you will have access to the laundry room, which is shared by the other tenants of the apartment house. For health and environmental reasons, only non-toxic products are permitted in the laundry room, and these products will be supplied during your stay.
Please be advised that our downtown neighborhood is OLD and time-worn. Some houses are rather run-down; others are more cared for; others are being worked on. Our block is fairly quiet, but the quiet is sometimes punctuated by urban sounds: music coming from cars, people socializing in the street, ambulance/fire truck sirens from the nearby hospital and fire station. Our neighborhood is multi-racial, multi-socio-economic, and multi-generational. In terms of safety, we have lived on this block for over 30 years (many of them as a single woman) and have had very few issues. The apartment entrances are well-lit as are the parking areas. Our car has never been broken into, but we always take the precaution of locking the doors and removing any valuables. In our experience, walking to your destination is perfectly safe during the daytime. As for walking at night, we ourselves feel comfortable doing so, but visitors who aren't familiar with the area might be more comfortable driving or using a ridesharing service at night. That being said, the walking route from the Airbnb to downtown is getting better and better. The city has recently added pedestrian-friendly lighting to the streets, so most of the walking route to downtown is well-lit. Although our block is old and time-worn, the neighbors, neighborhood association and the city are working to improve it. We ourselves are renovating two houses on the block. The city has torn down an abandoned house, and another neighbor has turned a vacant lot into a flower garden and installed a "Little Free Library." The neighborhood association and historic preservation group recently restored two other homes at the end of our block, and Habitat for Humanity recently built a new home on a previously vacant lot. A long-standing neighborhood bar with good food, Frank's Place, is just 1-1/2 blocks away. You can grab a coffee at The Local Cup, a neighbor-run community coffee house a short walk down Portage Ave (select limited hours). During the growing season, we have our own little neighborhood farmers market across from The Local Cup. A new locally-sourced restaurant is scheduled to open in November 2018 just two blocks away. Lots of good things are happening! A block away, Just across Portage Ave/William Street, you will find the Chapin Park Historic District, which has brick streets and beautiful and colorful historic homes, and makes for a lovely stroll. Many downtown locations, including restaurants and entertainment, are .5 to one mile from the studio.. If you enjoy a longer walk, there is also a pleasant walking route to the campus of Notre Dame.
  • Perfect spot to stay! It was the cutest studio and we were able to walk to all of our downtown destinations.

  • Lovely gem of a place within easy walk of downtown. Nice little handwritten notes left to explain some of the quirks and features, better than a printed list of dos and don’ts you get in some places. A shame I couldn’t stay longer to enjoy it more.

Guests will be sleeping in a Queen-size Ikea bed with a memory foam mattress pad. I have a sweet cat named Alice. Guests are welcome to use the TV to hang out and watch Netflix. The downstairs has a nice bistro table and chairs next to the fireplace. Relax in a comfy chair and get some work done. You are welcome to use the fridge and kitchen that has a gas stove/oven and a microwave. I have another room listed in my home so you may get to meet someone from another city as well!
I bought the house four years ago and the previous owners did leave stains on the carpet. I have cleaned the carpet thoroughly to try and remove the stains and vacuum regularly. Thanks to Airbnb guests I have updated the downstairs floor and plan to continue to put money aside to update the carpet upstairs! My home is 3 miles from downtown, 1.5 miles from IUPUI, 2.5 miles from the Indy Motor Speedway track and a mile away from Eskanazi Hospital. The patio is great for people watching or meeting my friendly neighbors. The backyard is great for bonfires or outdoor movies in the spring and summer.
I love my neighbors. They are extremely friendly and will help you out no matter what. We all look out for each other and take pride in our block. I live in a diverse neighborhood that is primarily African American families and home owners. I am a block away from a bus stop, two blocks from the local library and the nearest grocery store is less than a mile away. The neighborhood is residential so there are not that many restaurants within walking distance. Luckily, there are plenty of food options downtown which is a five minute drive away! My home is 3 miles from downtown, 1.5 miles from IUPUI, 2.5 miles from the Indy Motor Speedway track and a mile away from Eskanazi and IU Health Hospital. • I've been a long-term guest at Steve's apartment while training in psychotherapy at the VA hospital nearby. Location is perfectly suited to train at VA, Eskenazi or IUPUI, pretty close to downtown although if you don't own a car public transportation isn't the best, a bike could be good for long stays. Steve's house is cozy, beautiful and stylish, you feel very comfortable the moment you set a foot in it, specially in winter, Steve always keeps the house warm. I didn't miss a single item during my stay, hairdryer, washing machine and dryer and iron are available, as well as kitchen utilities and even an italian coffee maker. The room I was in is very spacious, brightly lit (facing east and with 2 Windows). It has a big closet, a plasma TV just for yourself (Netflix included) and a studying desk, the bed is wide, enough for two and very soft (I personally prefer harder mattresses but I slept perfectly). Steve is a very generous host, offering you detergent, tea, coffee or shower gel, he is also very laid back and knowledgeable about the history of Indy, ready to give local recommendations. My stay with him was very pleasant and we got along well, even had our roomate routines watching TV shows at night. I definitely recomend at would stay again at this Airbnb!

  • We enjoyed our stay with Stephen. Stephen was a great host and made a great effort to ensure our stay was amazing.

    Jacqueline2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • Stephen is a very congenial host and keeps a very nice house. The house and room are comfortable and smell very nice. The location is great for downtown, hospital, and the IUPUI college campus area.

  • The place was clean, quiet, and had convenient amenities like an iron, tea kettle, refrigerator.

  • Great stay, easy check in, proximity to downtown, wonderful value, very clean. Recommend to others.

  • I LOVED this Airbnb!!! It was my first time ever using an Airbnb and I’m so glad I was at his place for my first experience! So clean and unique. So many books, great location, the bed was like a cloud and was so comfortable I over slept for work in the morning the first morning. I will stay here again and again during my time in Indianapolis!

    Lesley2019-12-04T00:00:00Z
  • The pictures don't give his space justice, the place is sparkling clean, the room was very spacious and it was a great price! The location is super close to downtown and IUPUI as described and there was plenty of street parking available. Stephen was a very friendly host and I would definitely look to stay here again if I were to come back to the area! 10/10!!

  • Love this space! Cozy, comfy, relaxing! I went here alone to have time and space to complete a very intense 2 day virtual training and state certification and the electric company decided to cut off the power for the few crucial hours I needed to be plugged in!! What could have been a nightmare was only a temporary minor crisis thanks to the quick response of the host! I loved this space and hope to come back for another escape. Highly recommend!

It saved our vacation time during this virus pandemic. We will definitely be back!!

  • Keith's home was immaculate. Everything was inviting and the well thought-out. Even though I didn't get to enjoy any of the local eateries or attractions, he did have a list of his favorites that I am sure I would have enjoyed. The bed I slept in was fantastic. One of the best night's sleep I have ever had. I wanted to stay all day and just read one of the hundreds (if not thousands) of books that he had. The best part of the stay was the coffee and homemade, warm out of the over bread in the morning. This was by far one of my favorite AirBnB experiences ever. Thanks again for this amazing stay!

    Whitney2020-03-27T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our brief stay at Keith’s place! It was adorable, cozy, comfortable and in a great location! Keith was an great host and the coffee and fresh bread was a perfect touch and really shows off the true feel of Bloomington! I will definitely be staying at this home again!

  • Keith really goes above and beyond to make the space feel like a home away from home. Incredibly cozy and stylish and unmatched hospitality. I did not want to leave. This is the only place I will stay in Bloomington from now on.

  • Our second stay at Keith’s place did not disappoint! We love the Bloomington location, as well as the coffee and fresh-baked, home-made bread provided in the morning. It’s a quaint and comfortable option.

We also have a rapid transit system called the red line, that stops two blocks west on College Ave. It is a quick and easy way to get downtown.

TINY studio apartment most suitable for ONE guest. Two guests can be accommodated (DOUBLE bed), but only for short stays as the studio is TINY. There are 3 other apartments in the big old house, so at times you will be aware of other people through the wall or ceiling. Please read the entire listing for house/noise/neighborhood details. Half mile to downtown restaurants and culture, 2 miles to Notre Dame campus, 8 minutes to SB Airport and 80/90 Toll Road, 2 blocks to Memorial Hospital.
This TINY studio, located in an OLD house in an OLD neighborhood, is most suitable for ONE guest. Two guests can be accommodated (DOUBLE bed), but only for short stays as the studio is TINY. There are 3 other apartments in the house, so at times you will hear voices and movements from other apartments. The studio is pet-free. The space is completely NON-SMOKING inside and out. STUDIO DETAILS: The main room contains one memory foam DOUBLE bed, a small pull-out table with chair, an easy chair with ottoman, and a closet with clothing rod and a few shelves. There is room under the bed to store a suitcases or other items. Along one wall is a tiny kitchenette, (intended for LIGHT cooking only---please refrain from excessively oily or strong-odor foods---with stove, fridge, microwave, and sink). The kitchen has dishes, cookware, microwave, salt and pepper, standard coffeemaker, pour-over and French press coffee maker. Locally roasted organic coffees (regular & decaf), organic teas, organic half-n-half, and organic sugar and stevia are provided, but for longer stays, please plan to replenish these items on your own if you need more. City tap water is fine, but a water pitcher with filter (Brita) is provided. There is a smart TV with a Netflix account for your use. There is a separate tiny but complete bathroom with clawfoot tub with a shower (NOTE: The doorway to enter the bathroom is only about 6' high, so if you are a taller person, you will need to be careful not to bump your head). Sheets are 100% cotton. The studio is pet-free. No smoking inside or in yards. Recycling & outdoor compost bin available. Solar panels have recently been installed on the metal roof, so some of the energy you use during your stay will be provided by the sun! HOUSE NOISES: There are 4 Airbnb apartments in the big old house. The walls/floors of the house are solid, but not sound-proof. Old floors will creak from guests above. You will be aware of guests in adjacent apartments, and they will be aware of you. Also, there is an air conditioner compressor located outside the window. We don't consider it a disturbance, and only one guest has ever mentioned it, but we want you to be aware of it in case you are sensitive to this potential sound. Please read the NEIGHBORHOOD section below for a full description of our neighborhood to make sure you will be comfortable here. Laundry: If you need to do personal laundry, you are welcome to use the laundry room, which is shared with the other apartments in the house. Due to our allergies/asthma and environmental concerns, only non-toxic and fragrance-free products are permitted in the laundry room, and these products will be available for your use.
Please be advised that our downtown neighborhood is OLD. Some houses are somewhat run-down; others are more cared for. We ourselves are renovating two houses on the block, the city has torn down an abandoned house, and another neighbor has turned a vacant lot into a flower garden and installed a "Little Free Library." The neighborhood association and historic preservation group recently restored two other homes at the end of our block, and Habitat for Humanity recently built a new home on a previously vacant lot. If you look at our neighborhood on an online map (street view feature), you will not be able to see an accurate picture. The street view images of our block are at least 5 years old and do not reflect the improvements that have occurred in the last few years.
  • Maggie’s Tiny Retro Studio was a wonderfully comfortable, convenient, and easy place to be for a week-long December visit to South Bend. The basics are great: a comfortable bed, easily adjustable heating, and a clean bathroom with a good shower—or a deep bath in a claw-foot tub, if that’s your preference. But while the place is small, the amenities go beyond the basics. For example, Maggie provides good quality, locally roasted coffee beans, a grinder, and three different ways to make coffee. There are also fair trade tea bags for both black tea and herbal tea. There’s a full stovetop and oven, which are more than adequate, considering that only light cooking is appropriate in the space. I cooked oatmeal every morning, so only used one of the pans, though several are available. Maggie provides extra pillows and blankets and an ample supply of towels. There are clear labels around to help you navigate and find things when you first arrive. They are neatly done and never feel fussy. The room heat comes from a heat pump with a remote control, supplemented by an electric space heater for more rapid heating. I found this system worked well. The outdoor unit of the space heater is just outside the bedroom window, and it does make some noise. But I quickly became accustomed to it and soon hardly noticed as it cycled on and off. Storage for your belongings is provided by a full size closet, hooks on the bathroom door, and drawers in a piece of furniture that also includes a small but useful pull-out desk. There are pens and notepaper provided there. I can’t comment on the television, the microwave, and the laundry room, since I didn’t use them. But I did use the wifi, and it worked well. Finally, I have to say that Maggie was wonderfully accommodating about my arrival and departure. I traveled to and from South Bend on Amtrak, which meant that I both arrived and left at hours that would have been unexpected otherwise. Maggie smoothed the way gracefully.

  • We had a 5 star stay at this lovely little studio! I can’t say enough good things about our stay here. The check in instructions were clear and concise. They left notes around the unit with instructions on how to use everything from the AC unit to the hot/cold faucets. They had more than enough recommendations for restaurants and other actor in the area. They also had printed out directions for driving and shutting to and from Notre Dame. Overall it was a lovely stay at the Colorful Studio. 10/10 would recommend for any stay in South Bend.

  • Lisa is very quick to reply any time you message her. She’s very understanding, helpful, and accommodating. The cabin is clean and well thought out. The property is beautiful and peaceful and has some very unique touches. I’ve already sent her Airbnb link to several family members and friends because it was just that wonderful of an experience. It was our first time using Airbnb and she has definitely set our expectations high for anyone else we may stay with in the future. We plan on coming back to Grandpas Cabin as well, and we can’t wait.

Special disinfection cleaning procedures in place due to the coronavirus epidemic. All surfaces thoroughly disinfected before and after each guest stays. Seasoned Airbnb Superhosts listing this quiet, cozy, and comfortable room with private entrance and a deluxe all-marble bathroom in family home. Centrally located in Bloomington, yet tucked away on a very quiet, safe, residential street where birds and bunnies abound.
Welcome and thank you for viewing our room. This is a private room with private entrance. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, we have taken special measure to insure that the space is thoroughly disinfected after each guest stay. Rest assured - guests will not be exposed to any unclean surfaces. We've stayed in many airbnbs and hotels around the world and have learned to provide our guests with the best accommodations based on what we've experienced. If you're looking for a private space with a separate entrance in a clean, cozy environment, this is the place for you. In other words, guests will not go through the rest of the house in order get to the room. If you enjoy soaking in a sunken tub in a very large, deluxe bathroom, you'll love this spot. Hosts have traveled the world, and know how to provide a comfortable room with all the amenities. Towels, sheets, shampoo, soap, lite snacks, coffee, tea, and bottled water are available for guest use. ***Guests are wowed by the floor to ceiling, spacious marble bathroom that makes them feel pampered by just setting foot into it. If you have a 3rd person feel free to rent our other listing which is a loft for one person. ***Guests love the hardwood oak floors. No soils, stains or dust embedded in them as is so often the case with carpeting. The room has a small refrigerator, microwave, small kitchen counter, basic food utensils, as well as a walk-in closet, chest of drawers, iron, and a lot of amenities tucked away throughout the room. ***Guests comment on our quiet neighborhood - yet it's so close to everything. Experience and previous interaction with guests has taught us that our room appeals most to those who are from Europe and/or have traveled internationally, as well as folks from larger urban areas. Parents of IU students also enjoy the solitude while here as well as the closeness to campus, restaurants and shopping. ***Guests especially enjoy their own private entrance because - let's face it - when you're traveling, sometimes you just need your privacy. You'll find luxuriously soft sheets on the beds, and a warm but light comforter (in the winter) with four pillows of varying levels of softness so that you can find the comfort level that is best for you. Extra sheets and blankets are available. 100% cotton hotel grade towels will soothe and dry your skin after a hot shower or bath in the deluxe sunken bathtub. ***Guests love the soft, luxurious sheets. The owners designed and built (literally) the house and have put a lot of thought into making it comfortable and cozy for themselves and their guests. It is still a work in progress, so you may find some sort of project going on around the house.
Our neighborhood is centrally located, yet very quiet and safe. It is an older neighborhood with mostly retired people. It is not a development - rather it has a long history of families living in the same home for decades. The homes range from very tiny, to a large mansion tucked away in the woods across the street. It is this variety that makes it interesting (at least this is what we find attractive - nothing cookie-cutter about it.) It is so quiet - especially at night - that guests might think they're in the country rather than in the middle of town, even though a major road is just 1/2 block away.
  • Absolutely wonderful

    Annette2020-04-24T00:00:00Z
  • This stay was great. I booked their guest suite specifically for the large tub. There was plenty of bathroom space and hot water to enjoy a long soak. Check in was super easy as was check out. I met Victor in passing and he is a super nice guy. He introduced himself and reminded me of the available areas within my stay. He was quick to respond to messages and I felt comfortable to ask for anything had I needed to. The room had a mini fridge, coffee machine, and microwave. Although I didn’t use the latter two, it was nice to have the option. Lastly, there house was extremely close to many areas of Bloomington such as downtown, Whitehall Crossing, and the hospital. Overall, I would recommend it and stay again!

    Arial2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • What you see is what you get! Very close to IU and fun, local restaurants. Definitely a lot better than staying at a hotel!

    Michael2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Convenient location, fantastic soaking tub, and great communication from the hosts.

    Ron2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Victor was there to make sure we have what we need.. We chatted.. Nice !! For the size and the price is great !! I reserved again in April !!

    John2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is the second time I've stayed with Naomi and Victor and it was as good as the first time. The space is really nice and clean. It had all the necessary things including cooking-wise as well as a laundry room. The bed was really comfortable, the bathroom is HUGE! as well as the closet. The hosts are usually away but the communication is great via Airbnb message. Overall, I really felt I was home and not in someone else house but if there was an issue the hosts were always available and helpful. I would definitely stay here again and, therefore, recommend it. Also, it is quite close to Downtown, it's a quiet area and it has a huge place for parking!

    Javier2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • nice play to stay, you have all the privacy you want. Thanks

    Maximiliano2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful place to stay! Naomi and Victor were very quick to respond and they respected your privacy... it didn’t even feel like we were staying in someone else’s home. It was nice to be able to feel comfortable coming and going as we pleased while not feeling like a burden. The space is completely separate from their space and it felt as if it was your own “hotel” room if you will. Wonderful accommodations and very clean... had everything you needed and more. Thank you again for a great experience!

This is a wonderful, super comfortable, fully private space! Very modern, artsy and fun! In a fabulous historic home built in 1895. You will love it here!
This space is a small apartment - about 450 sq. ft. total. It is located on the back of a 3 unit building which we own - and is right next door to our home. It may be small, but the charm will make up for it's size! The apartment has it's own private entrance - it is like your personal cottage in the city! We have fined tuned for every detail. The kitchen is fully stocked with every gadget, pan, dish - everything! If we did not get it in there, just ask - we will get it to you right away. The bed is a memory foam with gel cooling top. There are two tv's - one in the living room, the other in the bedroom - both have full access to Netflix, HULU, HBO to go - or whatever else you may need. WiFi is recently updated to the highest speed and modem. You will also be provided with all your linens, towels, shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel - if you forgot something, please let us know - there are either extras in the apartment - or we may have one in our house next door. Please check out all of the pictures - they are pretty detailed. We are excited to share our space with you!
We are in the very hot and trendy Holy Cross neighborhood! 1.5 miles to the center of the city - Monument Circle. 2 miles to the popular Fountain Square area and only 1 mile from the must see and do Massachusetts Avenue! It is about 2.5 miles to the Convention Center and Lucas Oil Stadium. Basically - if you want to explore Downtown Indy - we are your spot! We also have LaParada Mexican Restaurant on our block - rated one of the best in the city - and soon to have a coffee shop and King Dough Pizza. Everything is very close - so if you need help finding it, just let us know!
  • This was a short stay for me, wish it was longer! The place was sparkling clean, bed was very comfy! Close to everything downtown! Mike was very nice to talk to, and responded quickly with any questions I had! I hope to stay there again soon!!!

  • Matt’s place was wonderful. Very cozy, very clean. Nice and secluded. I’m going to miss waking up and listening to the sounds of nature each morning. We got to see several horses right outside. If you’re looking for a quiet, relaxing place to stay this is the place to be.

  • Seclusion and serenity in rolling, wooded countryside...horses in the adjacent pasture, cows passing by in the evening on their way back to their farm for the night! The cabin is immaculate, beautifully furnished, and cozy. Matt's response to questions is very prompt and his information to guests--both on his listing and in the house itself-- is very complete and helpful. Hope to return soon!

  • We absolutely loved this space! Social distancing at its very finest. Super stylish and lots of things to do to keep us occupied. The place was spotless and truly one of a kind. I highly recommend! It was soooo hard to leave in the morning. I wish I would have stayed another day to truly appreciate this beauty of a home. As a writer, My favorite was the reading nook. I could have sat there for hours. :)
