Places to stay in Long Island
This cozy cottage is the ideal location for a refreshing family getaway to Long Island. This 2-bedroom home is in excellent condition and is a seven-minute walk to the South Beach, the most pristine beach in Casco Bay. The home features an open floor plan that includes the kitchen, dining area, and living room. Sliding glass doors in the living room lead to a spacious screened porch with outdoor sectional, rocking chairs, and twinkle lights.
  • This place is wonderful. Long Island is a peaceful getaway. Just lovely!

  • GREAT location!

  • Long Island is a special place, perfect for peaceful relaxation, at least in the off season. I enjoyed my many walks and visits to beaches. Jacob is a great host. He responded quickly to questions and made lots of good suggestions of places to see. The kitchen has everything one might need for cooking in terms of pots and pans. If you like to use spices, bring your own. I appreciated the two-layers of window coverings so that they blocked the early morning light. The grocery store is very tiny, so one needs to plan to bring food or have it shipped in (which isn’t hard.) I thoroughly enjoyed my stay.

  • Jacob is incredible; he was accommodating and very quick to respond with all of my questions. He was flexible with our check-in time, which was extremely helpful given our complicated travel schedule. The place was very clean and had all of the necessities for our stay. The cottage offered the perfect getaway for us; tucked away from close neighbors (we're from NYC, so this was important) and a short walk to the beach. Although the cottage is within walking distance to/from the Ferry, I definitely recommend planning in advance and renting a golf cart (or even bringing a bicycle to assist in getting around the island. I didn't plan ahead on this one, and we were okay without it given our busy schedule... but for those looking to explore Long Island, a golf chart/bike would be a great idea!

  • As someone who has been going to this island every summer for about 20 years, I have to say this is one of the best places that I have stayed. It is clean, updated, and super comfortable! Great location right in the middle of the island so that you aren’t too far away from beaches, restaurants, gift shop, etc. I also stayed at this particular place many years ago and Jacob and his family have done an excellent job updating the place. WiFi is a huge plus, as not many places have that! We had such a great long weekend unwinding this late summer and are so happy we decided to rent this place!

    Chloe2019-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • The Lobster Trap is a clean, comfortable and cozy place. Whether you plan to bring just a few guests, or the whole family, Jacob’s place has everything you’ll need. Don’t miss out on an opportunity to experience both the island and this lovely place!

    Caitlin2019-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • First of all, the beds are amazing. And secondly, if you need to recharge this is the spot. Bikes to tour the island. Can walk to whole island (there are hills). Collect seaglass on the beach. There is even onsite laundry. Make sure to bring food as the island has no restaurants and minimal groceries. But plenty of beer and wine choices. The ferry ride was great and we learned a lot about the history of the bay. Would definitely return. Especially for the beds.

    Sophia2019-06-22T00:00:00Z
  • Jacob's house is sparkling clean with great touches in the interior. We spent a lot of time on the porch with twinkling lights and a comfy sectional/rocking chairs. The kitchen was stocked with all the utensils and pots/pans we would need to cook. Jacob had provided a great document with things to keep in mind and tips for our stay- this saved us time and made our planning much easier. He was prompt in responding to any of our questions. Overall, a great stay.

*Professionally Cleaned and Sanitized* *Book Now* (Note: Three-night stay minimum does not apply to most weekends.) Remote Downeast island experience just two hours from Boston ... Renovated home in the tranquil Tolman Heights section of Peaks offers a modern kitchen, full bath, and sleeps six comfortably. Spacious home is a short stroll from Spar Cove and the Back Shore, where you can overlook all of Casco Bay and the open ocean. Great biking, kayaking, walking, and swimming on the island.
Away from the more crowded, hustle and bustle of other island areas, this peaceful three-bedroom, beautifully renovated island home sits at the top of Tolman Heights. It stands on a prominent grassy rise surrounded by conifers, birch, and oak trees, with plenty of lawn, a covered porch, and a sunny deck for sitting in the summer warmth. In the morning, you might see horses going by while sipping your coffee or tea and listening to the birds sing. Ease into your vacation. Enjoy the quiet—occasionally a car will drive by on the country island road, but mostly walkers, bikers, or no one at all. The house features a large modernized kitchen with a flat-bottom coffee maker (filters included), toaster, gas range and full refrigerator, a bathroom with large tub/shower (great hot water/pressure!), also an enclosed outdoor shower, towels, beds with good pillows, comforters, linens, and high-quality mattresses, a large living room with three comfortable couches, a TV/reading room, bedroom ceiling fans, and polished pine wood floors throughout. Also included is a landline phone, wifi, flatscreen TV, and full cable channel lineup ... ... all surrounded by a large lawn, well-groomed grounds, and classic Maine island woods.
Tolman Heights is a peaceful and serene island enclave of mostly summer homes in the heart of the island’s conifer forest. Artists, writers, musicians, and families have been drawn to this area of the island for decades and generations. It is a magical spot -- quiet, peaceful, and soulful, so if you like loud and boisterous, it won't be your speed. Just up the hill from Spar Cove (with a raft you can swim to), the Back Shore, and open ocean dotted with Casco Bay's majestic outer islands, Tolman Heights is one of the last "true Maine” Peaks enclaves. Time has not altered "The Heights" much in the past 100-plus years.
  • Adorable, rustic island cottage: everything I was looking for in a quiet retreat. Andrew is a fantastic, attentive host.

    Kathryn2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • We LOVED our stay and definitely recommend it. Get chilly at night since we were here in October but has plenty of heaters to stay warm and comfy. Andrew ‘s house is a little piece of paradise ! Recommend it to everybody !

    Emmanuelle2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • Hope cottage was cozy, quiet, and comfortable. Peaks Island is a beautiful place!

    Jane2019-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • What a great stay! Andrew was easy to communicate and included good tips; the house was immaculate upon arrival, and was well equipped for our stay. The location is a perfect mix of private / secluded, and easy to access with a quick walk down to Island Ave to see the sunrise over the eastern sea / islands. Comfortable home, great host, and would happily visit again!

    Amy2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Great house to stay on Peaks Island. Andrew is wonderful to work with and very transparent and responsive with his communication. My family of 6 spend four nights and had plenty of room. We loved the outdoor shower even braving the 40 degree morning weather. It was great. Location is great on the island that it is away from the main part of town but for us it was great. It’s only a 5 min golf cart ride to town so perfectly located. Thank you for a great time Andrew!

    Maureen2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Andrew was super responsive leading up to our stay. The house was lovely. Maybe don’t make our mistake and arrive after dark! Ha! It was a pleasure to spend our wedding weekend at Andrew’s cottage.

Large guest room with queen-size bed and sitting area. Private bath and private entrance. We have 2 cot beds we can set up for children at a one-time fee of $10 each.
We have a private entrance for our guests (the front door and front stairs). We use the back door and back stairs. There is no need to make small talk unless you want to! We are very happy to provide what you need in the way of beach towels, wine glasses, an umbrella.....
Our neighborhood is quiet and friendly. We have a large yard and a lot of seating outside.
  • Rhonda was great with communicating anytime I had a question and we would recommend their place anytime. The walk from the ferry was quick and everyone around town was super sweet along the way. We brought our car and parking in the off season anywhere was easy.

    Laura2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful, replenishing getaway—eating, biking, ferrying, and museuming our way through the area. Rhonda’s place has a high coziness quotient and was the perfect base for our explorations. We look forward to staying in her lovely home again.

    Lida2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Rhonda's place was a private section of her house on the second floor with a bedroom and a bathroom across the hall. It was clean with a private entryway, and it was a perfect place to rest after spending your entire day exploring Peaks Island.

    Stephanie L2019-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect island get away. Great location!

    Pam2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • The house was easy to find, check in was seamless, and it felt quite private. Rhonda gave us recommendations for dinner, and allowed us to keep our bags for the morning since they didn't have anyone checking in after us. If we are ever at Peaks again, we will absolutely stay again!

    Daniel2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Nice place. Room had private entrance and was a very nice place to stay after a busy day on the island

    Eric2019-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • Had a fun day exploring the island. Rhonda's place was an easy walk from the ferry landing. The private entrance and private bath made for an easy check-in and night's stay. The collection of old family photos in the hallway created a grandma's house kind of feel. Everything worked as it should, although we weren't able to get the Wi-Fi connected with the password given. I'm sure Rhonda would have helped with it if we asked but we didn't have a need for it anyway. Overall a good experience. The place was exactly as advertised.

Come relax by the sea with our beautifully kept island home. There are exquisite views of the Atlantic Ocean from almost every window. Spending time in this lovely sea side home, you are sure to want to stay another week. Our 3 mile Long Island is perfect for bicycles, swim, sun, walks & runs. Enjoy our pristine beaches, bring your whole family! Day trip to Portland on Casco Bay Lines for restaurants, charter cruses, music venues and all the city has to offer!
Our 3 bedroom home offers a queen bed, a full, and a set of twin bunk beds. A full bathroom upstairs and a large full bathroom on the first floor with laundry. There is a spacious kitchen with high ceilings, skylights, and ocean views. A sunroom offers a magnificent scene of the Atlantic. There is a separate living room with television and games. A large alcove offers a desk and quiet space, should you need to do some work from home on vacation, or write your next best-seller
The Island is about 5 miles off the coast of Portland. You will need to leave your car in town and take a ferry or water taxi to get here! Long Island has a school with attached public library. There is a nice playground for children and tennis courts available for use. The Island has a number of beaches, nature trails, and a community center. There are two island stores with limited grocery and beverage options. Whole Foods shops, packages & delivers groceries 6 days a week for a minimal fee. Bicycles are great for getting around the island, and Long Island is only 3 miles long by 1 mile wide, so walking is a great option. A couple of businesses offer golf cart rental by the week, which I highly recommend to make the most out of your vacation and explore all that the island has to offer!
  • My family and I had a wonderful stay at Harbor House on Long Island. The house was sparkling clean, very comfortable and it was in a great location. The Island was so quite, and that is exactly what we were looking for. It was the perfect get away.

    Patricia2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Outstanding views. So peaceful. Long Island and the Portland Ferry was awesome. Peaceful place. Catlin was so responsive and the tranquility was amazing 😁. Beaches were good. You need a golf kart. Would go back to the island for sure. Thanks Catlin for your hospitality

    James2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great few days on the island! The house was an easy walk/bike ride from the ferry and we loved biking all around the island with my dog. The house was great!

    Leah2019-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • Nice place with a great view and easy walk from the ferry.

    Tim2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • A Beautiful house with a beautiful ocean view. There were bicycles available at the home to use to explore the island. Fully stocked kitchen and a charcoal grill for cooking. We had a great visit and would definitely book Harbor House again!

    Kelley2019-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • Thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The house was updated with beautiful views and plenty of room for our group of guests. Definitely would recommend.

    Abigail2019-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommend staying here. The island is super peaceful, and the house is the perfect weekend getaway. Everything is as advertised, and the house has everything you need.

    David2019-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • We can’t recommend this place enough! We had a great visit to Long Island and loved this location and host. What a wonderful house and host! The house is surprisingly large, with a big kitchen / dining area combo, a living room, 3 bedrooms (2 medium sized and 1 small), a bathroom on each floor, and gorgeous front sitting room with a view of the ocean. The photos don’t do it justice! With the windows open you can hear the waves, which made for extra relaxing nights. The house is very nicely decorated, with lots of pillows and throw blankets. Some of the art includes pieces done by the host and cute photos of her kids. It is a wonderful home to come back to after spending the day at the beach. There are games, puzzles, and DVD’s provided for those nights you want to stay in. The host was wonderful and kind and had fresh flowers waiting! The only downsides are typical to island living: -since there is limited water, using as little water as possible is encouraged. -there are ticks everywhere! Our dogs picked them up any time they even came close to any kind of plants, including in the lawn. With the bug spray provided (and some of our own) all the humans managed to stay tick free. -its a beautiful old house, and with the age of the house comes quite steep steps to the second floor. If you are traveling with anyone older or who has mobility issues they will most likely need to stay on the first floor. Luckily there was a daybed available on the first floor. All in all, we had a great trip and would heartily recommend this location and host! Thanks Catlin!

Cozy, comfy, classic Maine cottage. One of the original Peak's Island cottages built around the turn of the century. Easy 5-10 min walk, 2-3min bike (provided) to stores, ferry and choice of 2 beaches. This is a well loved family cottage we love to share with people who treat it the same. • Location, hospitality, stylishness all exceeded my expectations but what really got me were Natalie & Jahn themselves. Stay here because you'll be amongst shy and thoughtful artists who fill the spacious cottage with the muted melodies of guitar and dreamy singing behind closed doors. Being around them (as fleeting as their appearance is out of respect for you) will make your heart happy and enrich your stay in one of the most beautiful areas of southern Maine.

    Leona2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Natalie and Jahn are both very accommodating and will do whatever is necessary to ensure you have a quality stay.

    Henry2019-12-01T00:00:00Z

    Sarah2019-11-12T00:00:00Z
  • Natalie and Jahn were amazing people and hosts. The place is extremely peaceful and spacious. Super cool, creative people. Jahn generously drove us into town...thank you! Can't go wrong on booking with them!

    Collyn2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • Natalie, Jahn, and Dunkin were amazing hosts. We had never stayed in an air bnb where the hosts also lived, but this was a pleasant surprise. They were down to earth, fun, accommodating hosts. We spent our last night hanging out with them singing, playing the guitar, and talking on the deck. We will definitely stay again and also stay in touch with these amazing, talented people!

  • if you can, make sure to book this lovely space. it’s a really sweet and spacious place with so much sun and charm. i was able to travel everywhere without a car. it’s a quick uber/lyft to portland or just take the bus that stops three minutes from their place. they have a schedule. it’s super easy, cheap and brings you into the center of portland. my bed was so cozy and the shower was great. coffee and bagels and cereal in the morning, they even managed hot coffee when a storm knocked out power to the entire town. so thoughtful and warm, i felt at home and slept like a baby every night. if you can, book this for a maine stay and say hi to dunkin for me. :)

  • This is the perfect location for anyone wanting to explore the Old Port in Portland. Just foot steps away are as many bars, restaurants, and shops a person could want. We also loved how stylish and clean the space was. We will definitely come back next time we are in Portland!

Close to the ferry, stores, and beaches The second bedroom is an open small loft for kids ( or daring adult!)
Beautifully renovated tiny cottage. Farmers sink, quartz counters. Perfect for a relaxing weekend or longer getaway! Open living room/ kitchen, one bedroom with a queen bed and a pullout couch in the living-room. It is on an island that does require a ferry ride out of Portland.
  • Superb cottage! Very clean and can easily accommodate 6 people. The chalet is fully equipped, just need to bring our personal effects and our food. I recommend going to wholefood in Portland before arriving to do a big grocery store, because the island store does not contain many things. Also, be prepared to walk a lot, as the cottage is far from the ferry and the beaches. The steps are however very pleasant. Finally, the local community is very kind and warm. Excellent stay!

  • My parents and I stayed at the Rebecca's cottage and were delighted to discover the peace, beauty, and friendliness of Long Island. It was our first time there and Rebecca was very helpful in making sure our stay was a great one. The birds singing in the morning, the relaxing porch, and the lovely beaches on the island all combined for an excellent stay. I was very comfortable on the sleeper sofa, and the kitchen was well-stocked to cook whatever we wanted. Can't imagine a better summer getaway, we'll be back soon!

  • A cute and lovely space with everything you’d ever need to relax and enjoy your time. The hosts were amazing and friendly. I can’t say enough good things about this rental.

  • We had a wonderful time at the Cozy Cottage on Long Island. The newly renovated space looked great and functioned well. The back deck was very comfortable and a relaxing space to enjoy after a day at the beach. We stayed with our two small children, which was a bit tight but we managed well. I'd recommend bringing bikes or renting a golf cart to get around to the beaches and stores. We had a great time and would love to come back again soon!

  • Beautiful cottage on a beautiful island!

  • Wonderful spot for a quiet getaway. Rebecca and Phil were easy to work with. The cabin is well appointed. It is definitely cozy but perfect for a couple. If you want a luxury five star hotel with fancy drinks on a deck overlooking the ocean, this is not for you. But if you want a real Down East, rural Maine experience Long Island is “wicked good”. We look forward to returning.

Just off the coast of Portland, Maine in the Casco Bay lies our charming Long island get-away cottage. Enjoy a long Fall weekend, or relaxing vacation week or two. Slow down and relax with the thirty minute ferry ride to Long Island, the beautiful beaches and quiet island life. Great for kids of all ages. Just 2 hrs North of Boston. Includes the use of a car, and bikes!
We've done some renovations to the interior and porch of the house. Things are clean, new and more comfortable then ever! Hedman house is a 19th century island cottage that can sleep 4 adults plus 2 more (kids) on the fold out couch. It is a small house, but there are three bedrooms upstairs, two with queen size beds and one with a double bed. You can sleep three couples upstairs. The main floor has a small, bright living and dining room, spacious eat-in kitchen, and a large bathroom with full size tub & shower. There is a new TV, DVD player and a 1980's stereo that you can plug into with your smartphone or MP3 player. We have a good selection of books, puzzles and some board games, as well as rocks, shells and beach treasures all around the house. The wrap-around porch is great for enjoying morning coffee and afternoon drinks. The house is set back off the road, flanked by pine forest at the back and a large grassy lawn in front. The ocean is a five minute walk from the house - in all directions - or a two-minute bike ride down the road! When we stay at Hedman house, we take the walk down to the beach and enjoy the sunset everyday. It is a great beach to explore, with smooth sandy areas, rocky coast and small quiet coves. There are a few large white sand beaches on the south end of the island. South Beach attracts day trippers from Portland and can get busy on the weekends. No worries through, there is lots of beach! Long is a great island to relax and take in the sun on white sandy beaches, hiking along breathtaking rocky coastline, explore wooded pathways rich with moss covered rocks, beautiful ferns and pine trees. Enjoy the freshest Maine lobster caught right off shore. Long Island is a small gem. It’s the perfect place to enjoy the natural beauty and slower pace of Island life. It’s a great and very safe place for kids of all ages to explore and play, even on their own. On the island, there are two small general stores, one with a take-out counter and deck for enjoying very casual, lunch and dinner. There is the fun, old gift store, and the elementary school, with the new public library. You will find a few churches on the island, and a great Town Hall/recreation center that hosts daily art and activity classes during the summer. Visit the "Town of Long Island" web site for lots of good information and phone numbers for local businesses. A few roads connecting the two hundred or so homes on this three-mile-long island. Vehicle traffic is slow (20 mph) and minimal, most vacationers bike, walk or drive gulf carts to get around. There is usually an unofficial island driver, with whom you can arrange a ride from the dock to the house. This helps take visitors, their baggage, bikes and gear to their vacation spot. Bring your bikes, it's a great island for riding. There is also golf cart rentals on the island. You can inquire about them at the Boat House Beverage store, (near the ferry dock) or look it up online.
Long Island is a quiet, slow paced get away vacation spot. The cottage is set back off the road, on a large lot in a clearing. There are just two houses in sight, through the trees. You can walk and bike the island, often only coming across a few other people. There is the new library, town hall and small historic museum to visit, as well as the gift shop and two small general / grocery stores. For some fun, there are tennis and basket ball courts, and a great children’s playground at the island school. Inside, relax and enjoy the newspapers, periodicals, books and free wifi at the school public library.
  • This our first visit to Long Island. It is a great pleasure . Truman's place is terrifically provisioned with everything you need to cook, set a nice table and enjoy your time with friends or family.

    Kathy2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a lovely time at the cottage! Long Island is a magical place.

    Lois2019-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • Comfy little cottage on a wonderful sleepy island. Just hard enough to get to to feel like you’ve escaped the everyday, but plenty of comforts to make it not too rough. Great little beaches dot the island. Everyone waves and the susnsets are out of a postcard.

    Moses2019-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • Truman's place was great! The typical original island home, has everything you'll need. And a nice little morning coffee beach right around the corner.

    Ellen2019-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • The Hedman Cottage is delightful. We enjoyed this beach cottage to unwind and have quiet family time together. I would highly recommend this secluded, peaceful spot to anyone. The Master bedroom was my favorite room. It was cozy yet large enough for our luggage etc. The front porch was a great space to have our coffee in the morning and plan our day. The kitchen was fully equipped and I know that Truman has even more improvements planned for the future. Long Island is a jewel. We can;t wait to return.

    Mary2019-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • A little spot of paradise? I'm almost hesitant to publicly post about how magical this cabin, location and island truly is. Casco Bay is lovely, Long Island is the cherry on the cake. Truman is a considerate, kind and communicative host, really...what could be better?

  • Susan’s cottage is rustic and charming and will certainly provide you with a great space to have a relaxing time on Peaks Island!

    Evan2019-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cottage, in the woods, with bikes in the shed! Fully furnished, bare necessities are there but guests should bring their desired groceries from the main land (that is what we did). Centrally located. Nice shower. We had a great stay! Susan always responded swiftly to any question I had, always helpful.

    Caroline2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Had a wonderful stay here - a lovely humble homebase set in the woods to explore Peaks Island - had everything we needed to sleep and feed a large group. Eating a dinner we cooked on the grill on the balcony surrounded by the trees was a highlight of our trip!

    Leif2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Loved my stay at this sweet little rustic quintessential Maine island cottage. Super easy check in, comfortable, quiet and tranquil for optimum relaxation. Walking distance to small beach.

  • Great spot on peaks island. Had a nice weekend on the island and also ferrying over to Portland.

  • A nice hideaway in the woods. Convenient access to many island locations, on a fabulous little island.

    Barak2019-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • Susan's place is the quintessential Maine Island cabin. It is clean and rustic. It is well equipped with all the basics and she left all the supplies you could need in the kitchen. On Susan's advice, we drove over and brought our groceries from the mainland. This was great because we were able to cook every morning and not have to eat out for every meal. We were also glad we had the car because Susan's house is located on the far side of the island. Susan has DVDs and old movies available for watching on the little TV. There is a fireplace. We recommend bringing some firestarter with you if you want to make a fire for yourself. There is a good heater in the living room which heats up the house quickly. If you have trouble climbing stairs, this is probably not the house for you. If I had been alone it would have been difficult for me to drag my suitcase up the outside steps. All in all this house is clean and quiet. We slept very well I would stay here again if I were coming back to Peaks Island. Thanks Susan!

Peaks Island is a 20 minute ferry ride from Portland. Northcliffe is a traditional island cottage, (C. 1917) and commands magnificent views to the North, East and West over its rock-bound shore line. This property, on the northern shore of the Island, is a seven minute drive or a 2 mile walk from the ferry landing.
Northcliffe is perched on a small rise overlooking its waterfront lawn and expansive views up Casco Bay and several of its islands.
Northcliffe is located in a quiet area along with other same era cottages. There is a short pathway to a nearby private beach which we have permission to use.
  • Everything was superb here. Such a stunning picturesque spot on Peaks Island! You have a beautiful view of the water and also Pumpkin Knob Island. We loved waking up and spending time on the screened in porch. David and Mary were wonderful hosts. They met us right off the ferry and helped drive us back to the cottage. They made us feel at home and helped make our stay so wonderful. Highly recommended! Internet was fast, new TV was there, water pressure was great in the shower! Hope to visit again sometime!

  • This house was a delightful home away from home. It was decorated with excellent taste and around each corner was a perfectly placed thoughtful touch. The towels were abundant, the rooms large and the beds among the most comfortable we have slept in. Moreover, the screened in hexagonal back porch was truly enchanting. We spent each night out there after our son went to sleep playing one of the many games provided. The location was perfect for us- easy to get to- close to the playground for our son and easy access to a sandy beach for swimming. Truly cannot say enough about this spot. We already cannot wait to return next year!

  • Great home in a nice location. The house was recently renovated and looks amazing inside. The kitchen is well stocked with more than enough plates, cups, silverware and cooking equipment for all of your cooking needs. The screened in back porch was one of our favorite places to hang out and relax and enjoy the bay breeze! Tara has done an amazing job in assuring that guests feel welcome in the house and all of their potential needs are met during the stay.

  • Fantastic place, great communication, and Lorinda is the greatest person on Long Island!

  • The cottage and island were as described in the listing, if not better. Grace Cottage is clean, bright, cozy and quiet. Don't let the ferry ride out worry you, it's part of the experience and fun, and Steven and Lorinda make it easy to get to the cottage and back. Once you are there you'll appreciate the quirky tight-knit community: it feels like an authentic place, not a tourist trap. Everyone waves and says hello!

    Kevin2019-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • Grace Cottage, set on a picturesque strip overlooking the bay, is like stepping into a fairy tale. Pussy willows and tall grass, along with colorful wildflowers and age old trees, frame the wood clapped cottage with blue doors and lantern lights. Inside, the view is the thing, with windows in the main living and dining spaces opening you up to Wyeth like scenery of boats and lobster buoys bobbing on the waters and waves cresting the rocky shore. Comfortable bedding and a well-appointed beach theme in cool blues and whites complete the effect that forces slow down and relaxation almost instantly. The kitchen has every appliance necessary to cook a gourmet meal or heat up leftovers, and there is plenty of room for at least 7=8 people. The wifi reception is spotty at the cottage but it offers a chance to unplug and get back to basics, which I really needed on this trip... so no complaints. Long Island, where the cottage is located, is a 30 minute ferry ride across Casco Bay that stops at a few small islands and one large one (Peaks) in and out of port. Along the ride, you're sure to see sailboats, schooners, tugs and rowers out enjoying the waters when it's warm enough to do so. Steven is the property owner and he is immediate with replies, and Lorinda (property manager and all around aces-gal) is nearby if you need help or advice or suggestions. HIGHLY RECOMMEND Grace Cottage. It's idyllic and magic and I can't wait to go back.

  • We had an awesome few days at Grace Cottage. We appreciated the fully outfitted kitchen, plenty of towels and paper products available for kitchen and bathrooms. The house and view were terrific. As college friends from the 70’s, we loved the “dorm” vibe of the upstairs bedroom. We cooked all our meals in and were glad to have the tip about utilizing Whole Foods in Portland before arriving on Long Island. Foggs Water Taxi was terrific and with all our groceries and suitcases, was the perfect option for us. Lorinda was waiting for us upon arrival and was efficient, helpful, friendly and fun! She took care of getting new tires for the golf cart the second day we were there and loaned us hers to use until the 6-seat cart was fixed. She delivered a bag of ice to the cottage and coordinated the delivery of the Vodka we requested, thanks to the owners quick response to make that happen! Your customer service and hers was extraordinary! Lorinda is an asset to your rental property, for sure! Each time she saw us she was very friendly, stopped to chat with us, introduced us to her friends and made us feel like family. The internet was practically nonexistent. We could occasionally send a text message but phone calls were a challenge and using internet was not an option. I’m guessing it is due to the island infrastructure and not something you can control. If one of us had needed to conduct business or had an important need for internet service it would have been difficult. Also, no luck with the wireless speaker to play music I had downloaded on my iPad. We survived with the iPad speakers! LOL! In truth, being “unplugged” for a few days was a bit refreshing. Having the golf cart was lots of fun! We explored the island fully, met some wonderful people and loved the fact that everyone waved and was friendly and helpful. We even added bunnies to the bunny-trail to leave our mark on the island. Other than the bathroom details mentioned and a few dishes and utensils in the kitchen that needed washing, we were thrilled with everything and hope to return another time. We couldn’t have ordered better weather and we fully enjoyed our stay. Oh - you likely know the picnic table umbrella was inoperable. We were going to use it but it was immediately apparent it was broken before we tried to raise it. It was not a problem for us but I forgot to mention it to Lorinda. Thank you for providing awesome service and lovely accommodations! I’ve rented through Airbnb and VRBO a number of times and your property is at the top!

  • Grace cottage was lovely and serene. Very clean and well-equipped. Bikes (albeit pretty old and rusty) made it easy to go to the lovely beaches nearby. Lorinda was a wonderful guest manager and helped us order lobsters and introduced us to the community picnic. Warmly recommend Grace Cottage and Long Island!

  • Steven's place is a gem. Lorinda the host is super friendly and made the experience top notch. The place is well renovated and feels very new. The hosts provide extra amenities (coffee, utilities, toiletries, etc). They really think of everything. And if you need something, they'll get it for you ASAP. Already looking forward to our stay next year.

  • What a great place to stay! It's close to downtown, close to Tandem bakery/coffee shop and within walking distance of all the shops and restaurants that Portland has to offer. The bed is comfortable, the kitchen is lovely, everything is so clean and self check in is easy with a combo lockset. It also has the cutest little travel iron we've ever seen. The listing is accurate, the spiral staircase is very fun but would not be easy to navigate if one was obese or had had too much to drink, especially at night. It requires a little focus and intention but we loved it! The availability of Netflix was a plus! Great little place!

  • Angela’s place was cute and perfect for what we needed! The parking map was super helpful, as was the binder with all the local suggestions. The shower is great and I loved the spiral staircase - super cute! It was easy to call Lyft whenever we needed a ride and left the car parked in the street with free parking all weekend. Definitely a good spot to stay in Portland!

    Meghan2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Angela’s description is exactly right! Port City is within walking distance to a lot of great things to do, see & eat. We love Portland and would definitely stay here again in the future!

  • Angela's place was great. It was exactly as described so there were no surprises! The apartment was small, but it was a perfect space for our time there. The bathroom was amazing and the bed was super comfortable. The binder that was made was such a thoughtful and helpful touch. I plan to stay here again during the summer months, but even in the winter it was still in such a walkable location. I definitely recommend this place!

Nona's View is a beautiful spot located on Long Island, Maine in Casco Bay. Long Island is only a 45 minute ferry ride from Portland and this quiet island is great for anyone looking to get away from the stress of the mainland. You will see breathtaking sunsets and will have access to the best beaches in the bay!
Long Island is one of the best islands in Casco Bay, the beaches are beautiful and the people are friendly. This is a link to the town website, updates should come as the seasons change. http://townoflongisland.us/wp/ You'll love it here!
  • Bridget's house on Long Island was comfy and offered gorgeous views of Casco Bay. It was just the right size for our party of seven adults. The ferry ride from Portland took ~40 minutes each way, and a golf cart was provided to get around without our car (which cannot travel to the island). Kitchen amenities included a full range of pots and pans, utensils, and a coffee maker. The outdoor fire pit came with firewood and was an appreciated touch.

    Nikhil2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Great location, just a short golf cart ride from the pier. Wonderful view, large kitchen, large (open to the living room) upper level master bedroom with private bath, everything needed for a lobster boil (large pot and outdoor LP burner) as well as an LP grill on the deck, and prompt replies to any questions.

    Philip2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Great place on Long Island. Bridget is very responsive and helpful with any questions. We would definitely stay here again. The place is lovely and peaceful. We loved the use of the golf cart as well.

    Nicole2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • I came to Bridget’s AirBnB with 7 other friends for a 3 day kayaking trip and we couldn’t have been happier with out accommodations. The house has a ton of space, was super clean, and is well equipped - even comes with a golf cart for trips to the island store, ferry, or ice cream shop! I think our favorite amenity was the huge fire pit, we used it every night and there was plenty of nice dry wood available. I would absolutely stay here again, and can’t recommend Bridget’s hospitality enough!

    Luke2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • My family loved our stay! Long Island is a beautiful place to visit and disconnect, and the house was perfect for our purposes. The view is unbelievably gorgeous. Can’t wait to come back next year.

  • Beautiful area ! We came as a couple with young children and everything was particularly well suited. I highly recommend

    Morgan2019-06-24T00:00:00Z
  • This place is great! Semi-secluded on Long Island, it’s just a quick 40 minute ferry ride (which is pretty fun!). The outside fire pit was perfect for the cooler nights. A golf cart was provided which made it really easy to go to the docks and island store, since we left the car in Portland by the ferry gates. Would love to come back again.

Cheery, bright colors. You’ll feel like your on vacation as soon as you walk in! Relax on the couches on the large deck and enjoy the water views. Then take an Island tour in the golf cart.
  • This home offers great ocean views! The kitchen was well stocked, and the golf cart made accessing the island easy. The large deck and front yard allowed our family to have plenty of space to run around.

  • We had aWonderful stay at Rebecca’s place. We enjoyed relaxing on the deck and enjoyed our view of the cove. We bikes the whole Island and found all the locals friendly and helpful.

  • This is a wonderful property on an idyllic island. We were thrilled by the peace and quiet, as well as the friendly demeanor of the locals. A great place we would happily return to visit again.

    George2018-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful, relaxing home. Plenty of sleeping options for our group of six (4 adults & 2 kids). The golf cart make it easy to travel around the island, and we were also given the option to use the island van. We were so grateful for the fully stocked kitchen, even though we had bought our own Pyrex pans! Rebecca responded quickly to our our questions. The home and island were simply magical!

    Emily2018-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Rebecca's for our annual ladies weekend. The house accommodated all 6 of us with room to spare. The large outdoor patio was the perfect place to all gather around and enjoy the water view. We did a lot of biking around the island and enjoyed the beaches and the friendly island locals. We had a great stay and would highly recommend Rebecca's place for a getaway. She made our stay easy and quickly responded within minutes when we had any questions.

    Emily2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Rebecca's place was great for a large group trip to Long Island, ME. She let us use her golf cart, which made it really easy to get around the island. The kitchen was also great for cooking meals. Great place, great value.

    Priya2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • You had me at the lovely deck overlooking Casco Bay! But if you must go indoors, you'll find a sweet, comfortable, and well-stocked home-away-from-home. Rebecca was a super hostess - responsive, helpful, and laid-back. The use of a golf cart is a wonderful touch and made exploring the island that much easier. We were also grateful for the leads on where to get lobster (yum!). In short, all the makings for a new annual tradition - we hope to return!

A mix of cozy with modern touches, this just-renovated space is what you've been searching for! Come couples and small families, it's much more spacious than a hotel room and has far more character. We are located near quaint Deering Center, right outside the hustle and bustle of the city; a short walk to UNE graduate campus. We are on the bus line with close walking and biking paths. We've set this space up for you! So, whatever reason brings you to Portland, be our guests!
The entire apartment is set up for guest to be travel-friendly and convenient. Washer and dryer outside the unit, on the same floor.
  • Clean with plenty of amenities. Easy 10 minute drive to Old Port. Would certainly stay again.

  • We had a wonderful trip to Portland and made even better by this wonderful Air BnB! It’s in a great location, about 10 minutes to downtown Portland, very clean, and many amenities including lots of blankets and toiletries. The apartment is great for a couple, friends, or family. It’s very nice to have a full kitchen as well! There was coffee for the Kureig machine, water bottles in the fridge and even candies around the apartment! Thank you for a great trip-would definitely stay here again :)

  • This place was so much more than we expected! They had every little detail covered! We had privacy the whole time and were able to do a load of laundry before we headed back home. A 10$ Uber ride away from Old Port and the downtown area of Portland, and they were quick to answer any questions we had. Thanks guys for an amazing stay!

Portland’s most desirable location just a few minutes’ walk from the ocean overlooking Casco Bay; the Old Port; Bayside & downtown! The feel of a suburb in the midst of a small city. *You also have the option to book private sessions in a Far Infrared (IR) Sauna Room during your stay, with extra towels and terry robes provided ($20 per 2-hour session payable via the Airbnb site under Additional Services; contact me to book a time).
It’s a cool old Colonial home built by Irish immigrants in the 1880’s, modest and simple but a solid structure - in a super location. These comfy & charming accommodations are within easy walking distance to the Old Port yet offer more quietude than any other central location in the entire city. Under 3 minutes' walk to spectacular views and sunrises over of the ocean & Casco Bay along the Eastern Promenade - in addition to panoramic views and sunsets even closer in the other direction to the west overlooking the entire peninsula and Back Cove - Bayside area from Fort Sumner Park. The bedroom includes a comfortable, queen-size bed; WiFi; Bluetooth speaker; small laptop table (sometimes found in closet) and an optional larger folding desk available by request; a room-size fridge & Keurig coffee maker, along with a selection of tea. *You also have the option to book private sessions in an adjacent 2-person Far Infrared (IR) Sauna Room during your stay, with extra towels and terry robes provided ($20 per 2-hour session payable via the Airbnb site under Additional Services; contact me to schedule a time). Munjoy Hill is the most desirable neighborhood in the city offering ample open green space and recreational opportunities (tennis, basketball, baseball fields) & nature areas – all along the ocean – in addition to easy walking access to the heart of the city. For the spectacular views, convenience and the quiet of a residential neighborhood with 1800's character and charm, nothing tops the Hill!
Sunsets one block up the street; sunrise one block down, it’s a photographers paradise of great scapes and lighting. Proximity to so much including the Eastern Promenade & East End Beach; Old Port; Waterfront; Washington Avenue’s restaurant, beer and mead scene; several Bayside microbreweries, and a whole lot more peninsula-bound points of interest. What’s most special is at the same time the neighborhood is quiet and peaceful and its elevated Hilltop-situated area sets it apart from the urban areas of the city while opening up to expansive views of the ocean and islands of Casco Bay.

The apartment comes with a fully equipped kitchen, towels and bedding, A/C, and off-street parking. It's 1.1 miles to Congress Square (at High Street) and just over 2 miles to the Old Port. Dont want to drive? Take a Lyft, Über or cab for less than $10!
This quiet dead end street on the peninsula is a great place to quickly get away from the crowds and regroup for a night on the town. Our Libbytown neighborhood is right off of 295, which makes for easy access. Drive downtown in minutes or walk to the Old Port in 20 minutes.
  • The flat was extremely clean and is in an amazing location. There were thoughtful touches to greet us on arrival, some local brews and enough fresh coffee to last until we made a shopping trip. Less than five minutes away from pretty much anything you could hope to see and visit in the City; this is a must stay in Portland.

    Ryan2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful stay. Extremely convenient to the train station and an easy walk downtown. Clean, bright space with many amenities. Ian had a very helpful binder of great suggestions about things to do, and was extremely communicative. Would definitely stay again.

  • A great find! Very clean, comfortable, and spacious. Extremely close to all of the restaurants and bars downtown. An amazing value! Would 10/10 recommend!

    Molly2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • This place was sparkling clean and cozy! It feels more spacious in person as well. The host, Ian, was easy to communicate with and provided a great binder full of recommendations for the Portland area. The kitchen had basic seasonings and oil to cook with, which was very thoughtful. My mom and I also enjoyed a complimentary cup of tea and some snacks. The WIFI worked perfectly as well. The location is convenient and close to downtown Portland & several restaurants. We drove about 5 minutes to The Holy Donut, which is a Portland specialty! Amazing potato donuts. I highly recommend this place if you're thinking of going to Portland and need a relaxing place to stay.

  • This place was great. Very cute and cozy.

    Vincent2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing space and close to downtown Portland! Space was very comfortable. Was home away from home for sure. Could have been a few degrees warmer in the space (68 is not good for me) but i made do with blankets and layers. Overall great space for a great price. Will definitely stay again if i fond myself in Portland!

Great options all around if you don't feel like going into Portland. *Dipietros Market - Grab a sandwich from either place and take it to Bug Light or Fort Williams for a picnic! *David's 388 - (URL HIDDEN) We love it so much we had our wedding reception there!!! *Elsmere BBQ - Yummy BBQ and Beer in a comfortable, friendly environment. *Taco Trio - Have you been to Mexico? We have, and this is the best we have found ANYWHERE in New England !!! Casual and Yummy *Scratch Bakers - Get the bagels! (better get there early) *CIA : Coffee, Art, & Ice Cream - Yummy coffee and treats served by amazing people! *Otto's Pizza - Very Good Pizza. *Snow Squall - Good food, nice outdoor seating, and acoustic music on weekends. • Ken & Moya are great hosts, always available to help guests with a smile on their faces. We had a great time at their place. Amazing view from the living room window to the water, too!

    Helio2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • I would just reiterate what a lot of the other positive reviews said - good location for the price, great food within walking distance (even in December), and great communication. I would add that the bed was really comfortable and the apartment was bigger than what we were expecting based on some of the other reviews.

    Tyler2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • My fiance and I had a lovely stay at this airbnb. It was easy to check in with the lockbox, and we found the apartment to be very cute and clean. The view across the road is so pretty (it looks out onto the water and nearby park). We didn't use the kitchen, as we had family in the area, but it looked nicer than our home kitchen. Ken and Moya left lots of recommendations for places to eat/drink and things to do in the area. They were very communicative hosts from pre-check-in to check-out. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay.

    Molly2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was so easy and hassle free. Clear instructions from where to park and how to get into apartment. Spotlessly clean, tons of needed items all ready for our use. Made our visit to South Portland so so relaxing! Definitely would stay here again.

    Jennifer2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • The binder with local activities and restaurants was super helpful! The place was easy to find and the ubers into town were very inexpensive. The place was stocked with many amenities for our stay.

    Alexa2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • Loved the location and the view! The communication with Ken & Moya was super easy and quick. Would absolutely recommend to stay there!

  • Super great place for a trip into Portland without being too deep in the city that it’s hard to get around. Even though it’s next to a busy road it’s not loud at all. Very nice!

Long term/winter rental only. 4 month minimum. Sunny bedroom with full private bath. Back deck & private entrance. 8 minute walk to boat landing and restaurants. Easy access to Portland via Casco Bay Lines ferry. Nicely furnished, 6 steps up to landing. Nous Parlons Français. Parliamo Italiano. Quiet bedroom in large house. Access to all public areas, living, dining, kitchen, etc. 1 or 2 other people may be in house, but you might not even see them. Easy access to Portland for work, shop, fun.
1 sunny bedroom with full private bath. Back deck and private entrance if desired. Near boat landing and restaurants. Nicely furnished, 6 steps up to landing. Nous Parlons Français. Parliamo Italiano. Ferry ride from Portland is an idyllic 20 minute cruise. Cars not needed out here, and expensive to transport. There is an island taxi, and walking/biking are easy to get around. Peaks Island is an artistic community with old-fashioned entertainment like pancake breakfasts and intimate concerts in the summer. It's much quieter in the fall and winter, so nature is the call then. Perfect place for a writer, artist, telecommuter, or someone working in Portland. Information about getting to Peaks Island is through Casco Bay Lines (email hidden). The ferry schedule and costs are there. Also you can link to a map of places to park in Portland. There is a garage right at the ferry terminal, but it is often full and rather pricey. Other garages, or some of the open lots, are cheaper. Biking is great on the island. Taking the ferry to Portland while you are here, buying a book of 5 round-trip tickets, or a monthly pass are the cheaper/easier ways to go. If you are taking a bus or train to Portland, the taxi from there to the ferry is about $10 plus tip. From the airport it is closer to $20. Uber and Lyft available as well. In the summer there are 3 restaurants on the island, 3 bars, a grocery store an ice cream shop, and a few gift shops. A couple of art galleries, 3 small museums and lots of places to walk and wander. Some of these businesses close after Labor Day. Leave lots of time to get tickets and park a car if you are coming to Portland by car, especially on weekends. I hope that helps! Please note that from November - April I am not at the house, but have another renter and someone who checks in on it. Please contact me before making a reservation for those months so I can give you more information. From September - May, booking long-term only. Possibility of extended/year-round stay also. Contact me for information.
Peaks Island is a friendly community, very walkable and bikeable. Busy in the summertime. Portland has great restaurants and activities. Boats run until 10:30 or 11:30 pm most nights from Portland so you can enjoy the city too.
  • Nancy was a great host! She had a pulse on all the local events! Fresh flowers. Cozy room! The walk to the ferry was five to eight minutes. We had a time at Nancy’s!

    Ben2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • Nancy was a wonderful host! She gave us lots of tips about what to see and do on the island and in Portland. The accommodations were clean and comfortable and the location is very convenient from the ferry. We really enjoyed our stay on Peaks Island!

    Emily2018-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • This was our first stay at Peak's Island, and we could not have been happier with our stay. We arrived earlier than the stated check-in time and Nancy had no problem with that and let us drop our things off. It's the perfect location as you can walk to everything.

    Ashley2018-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Nancy's place is so great. Super close to the ferry and the downtown strip so it is a perfect jumping off point for your Peak's Island adventure ! It was really cute and perfect for our needs.

    Colin2018-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • Nancy was a wonderful host. The island was great and she gave fantastic advice on what to do and where to go. Overall, it was a good experience.

    Matthew2018-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice place and get host !!!

    Jim2018-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • Nancy’s place is a cute home about an 8 minute walk up the hill from the Portland/Peaks Island ferry. We opted to leave the car in Portland as it was such a short walk from the boat to her house. Parking was challenging but not impossible and it saved us an expensive car ferry fee. Nancy is a delightful person, cheerful, inquisitive (not overly) and very interesting; she is the founder of the Umbrella COVER museum down the street, and we were delighted to get a tour of her record holding collection. We even joined in as she played the accordion! Peaks is beautiful and very “Maine” with lobster shacks, kayaking, and good people. I’m looking forward to exploring it even more next time I go! And I wouldn’t hesitate to stay with Nancy again!

  • A great cottage off of the beaten path! We enjoyed the locals and exploring the area! We will definitely book again in the future.

  • George and Debbie were perfect hosts! The Lil’ House was perfect in every way! The view of the ocean was amazing. You could see it from the living area and from lying in bed. You can wake up to the sun rising on the ocean! It was very clean and we felt like we were home it was that comfortable. You could hear the ocean if you were out on the deck. We never give anything five stars on everything but we had to on this one, it was that perfect!

    Fred2019-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • George and Debbie were great to deal with. Loved the area, the sunrise and sunset. The place had everything and more! Wish we could have stayed longer.

  • The Lil' Guest House on Bailey Island was a wonderful spot for a couple's getaway and birthday celebration. The house is so well thought out and equipped.....it's obvious a lot of thought and care went into it. Very relaxing and peaceful, beautiful views, private beach nearby, nice furnishings, so many special touches, great kitchen and bathroom, huge deck, fire pit out back, comfortable bed. We can't wait to go back!!

    Donna2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • George and Debbie are the warmest hosts you could ask for. The cabin overlooking the ocean was spotless and creatively d'accord. Fresh Lobster delivered to your door, warm friendly visits with owners and family, and reading books down along the shore. A Dreamland vacation. Book it before it goes. Highly recommend!

  • We had such a great experience. The owner was so responsive to our questions and put in extra effort to accommodate us when there was a little bug with the Airbnb site. This is a beautiful spot on Peaks Island, located with views of the harbor and one of the only beaches you can walk down to. The view from the master bedroom and bath are amazing. The house is very clean and open and the master bedroom rivals a 4 star hotel bedding! The hot tub was so clean, hot and sparkling! We will definitely return!

  • I rented Laura’s beautiful home for a surprise 60th birthday weekend for my dad. It was perfect! The house was spotless and was big enough for everyone to sleep comfortably (we had 10). Peaks island is such a cute spot with lots to do. We spent the first night hanging out at the house and taking in the views. Saturday we rented golf carts to explore the island, and then took the ferry over to Portland on Saturday night for dinner. Getting back and forth was very easy (you can ferry or take a water taxi). Laura has a very detailed PDF with answers to anything we could think of. She was also very easy to communicate with. Overall it was an amazing weekend and everyone wants to visit again!
