Places to stay in Molls Gap

Places to stay in Molls Gap
Our home (a working farm) and The Cottages at are nestled beneath Ireland's highest mountain, Carrauntoohil. We are situated on the famous Kerry Way walking route and in the heart of the Reeks District. The collection of houses were some of the last in Ireland to be connected to the electricity grid (in 1978) due to their isolated location in one of Ireland’s most unspoiled valleys on the edge of the Killarney National Park.
A converted stone farm building with open plan design. The Cottage boasts a neat kitchen and shower-room (shower big enough for for two!), a living area with peat burning open fire and a galleried double bedroom accessed by a custom built staircase.  There is also a double sofa bed downstairs for you to fall asleep by the fire if you wish. Perfect for a romantic getaway, a trip with a friend or come and enjoy a bit of peace and quiet all to yourself. We provide a basic welcome pack of homemade soda bread, butter, milk, tea and coffee, and also first nights firewood and starter pack. The original buildings date back to the early 1800's but have been renovated to a high standard using local materials and in keeping with the traditional cottage style. The cottage is located on our 1200acre farmland including a private lake. Guests are free to roam the landscape at their leisure. There are 3 other cottages onsite but your accommodation has its own private access, parking and garden space so privacy is ensured.
The journey to get you here will take you through some of the most breathtaking scenery Ireland has to offer. You can choose to arrive via the famous Gap of Dunloe or the equally as beautiful Ladies View/Molls gap road. There is a small shop 5 miles away next to the Church, which offers basic food supplies but we advise that you buy any shopping at one of the nearest towns before arrival to avoid unnecessary travel and to make the most of your stay. The nearest bar and restaurant, Kate Kearney's Cottage is 10 miles away and offers traditional food and live entertainment. We are 7 miles from the Killarney National Park and Lord Brandon's Cottage, where you can avail of their cafe, boat/horse-riding trips and picturesque walks. The cottages are situated in the Reeks District with many popular hiking trails and was recently listed as one of the top places to visit in the world by Rough Guides. We recommend you book a professional guide if you are not familiar with mountain terrain. You can also book kayaking and rock climbing day trips in the area. While the charming the towns of Killarney and Kenmare are about 50 minutes drive away, our location and accommodation are more suited to those who are keen to truly 'get away from it all'.
  • This is by far my favourite air BnB I've ever stayed in! We went for one night just to get away from busy life and its fair to say you get just that when you stay at the cottage! The drive up is insanely beautiful, and that first glimpse of the cottage and farm yard nestled at the bottom of the mountains is something else. Everything in the cottage was perfect, so cosy, so relaxing, and everything you could need to cook is there too. The shower is amazing, and the bed super comfy. The wooden connect 4 was also a big hit, we passed hours with this. Can't wait to come back for longer next time!

  • The most incredible place! Beautiful view to wake up to; very clean & cosy space full of personal touches and plenty of firewood to keep out the cold. We wish we’d changed our trip around Ireland and stayed here for longer. Thank you & see you again soon!

    Sam2019-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • That was an outstanding experience! The cottage is located in such a beautiful place! Away from everybody, in between the mountains. We didn't have a car and Ailish and the family were so kind to organise transportation for us from Killarney to the cottage. We wandered the mountains and roads around for several days and fell in love with the valley. In the evenings, we never turn on the tablet we brought with us, because we were enjoying the atmosphere of coziness and calm created in the cottage!

  • We stayed in 8 Air B&B places during our trip to Ireland and this was our #1 favorite. It was so clean and we could tell the whole set up had been thought out in detail. The scenery around the house and the drive to it was some of the prettiest we saw in the whole country of Ireland. When I go back to Ireland I will definitely stay here again. She also provided us with homemade bread and jam which was so thoughtful and delicious. If you stay here you won’t regret it!

    Ann2019-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Wow, what an idyllic storybook experience to stay on Ailish’s beautiful sheep farm. I especially loved the personal welcome note, homemade bread, inspiring books and cozy fireplace. Thank you for a memorable and delightful stay!

  • A truly incredible airbnb experience. The black valley might be one of the prettiest spots in the whole of Ireland. The location, while a good 20 mins off the beaten path, is centrally located so that you can easily make day trips along the ring of Kerry, the Dingle peninsula, and/or Killarney National Park. If you decide to stay closer to the cottage, however, there is much to see and do even if the weather isn't as inspiring as you'd like. Ailish provides details about nearby walks that take you to vista's other tourist could only dream of. And for those with a more adventurous spirit, the cottage is at the foot of Carruntoohill and Hags Tooth Ridge. Advice on getting there. We had a Renault Megane hatchback, and it was adequate, even in the foul weather. But a 4wd or something with more ground clearance would probably be better. This is not unique to this property, however, as there were multiple times on our journey around Ireland where we loathed being low to the ground. There are surprise bumps and dirt roads throughout the country, and often they are too the most exciting places; like Anam V! My advice would be a diesel Dacia Duster. We drove one around Iceland last year and it was economical, easy to navigate on small roads, and capable off road. You must try to stay here if in Ireland. The cottage is very well appointed, Ailish has covered every single base, the vistas are to die for, oh and the fresh bread and jam provided is delicious!! Thank you Ailish!

  • Oh my gosh! Do NOT miss out on this incredible stay! It was an adventure driving through the Gap of Dunloe to get to the cottage, and we were in awe of the coziness that greeted us! I cannot reccomend this stay enough!! Bring your hiking boots to climb the surrounding hills. STUNNING! Simply outstanding!

    Katherine2019-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • This place is by far the best place my boyfriend and I have stayed on our road trip across Ireland. The views are breathtaking and every little thing in the cabin has a thoughtful touch. It was romantic with the fireplace and with candles and bathrobes and it was a tiny getaway for me and my boyfriend! We recommend definitely using Google maps to get here. We used our Garmin to save our phone batteries but the Garmin took us to the opposite side of the mountain, which was an hour and a half away so we ended up having to drive in the dark. But, we had an incredible time here!! It’s a must-stay

  • Lovely place. Everything you would possibly need. It was such a convenient place if you're interested in hiking around Killarney national park. Super clean, with a kitchenette because there are not many cafes or restaurants nearby. The fridge was stocked with water, milk, coffee, tea, and oatmeal. Margaret is such a great host. We had trouble with the WiFi and she kindly came over to help. Also had trouble locking the door, didn't turn it up far enough (oops) and Patrick came by to help as well. They are such lovely people, gave us great tips about trails to hike up (literally located in their backyard)! Amazing time here, it is so beautifully located. I enjoyed the scenery and views very much! Pro tips: go grocery shopping for basic foods prior because once you're here you won't want to leave! Read all instructions carefully because I had trouble turning on the hot water, oven, and heater. The shower and bathroom sink hot water work the opposite... red means cold and blue means hot (or at least that's how I got the hot water to work).

  • Such a great apartment and warm welcome after a long days travel. Hot shower, comfortable bed and well equipped kitchen made our stay such a treat. If we ever pass by again, we will sure repeat. Thanks Margaret!

  • It was very nice to stay one night here in the Black Valley. The accommodation is lovely and has everything you need. Margaret is a very cared host. She gave us also a lot of tips for our trip across Ireland, which were very helpful. Thanks a lot! We would also recommend driving from Dunloe to Black Valley. Nature there is beautiful and really well worth a visit!

    Monika2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • This is an absolutely stunning location! If you want a night or few within some stunning nature then this is the place

    Hannah2020-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • Margarets place is incredible with unreal views. Come in early as the roads are challenging and not well (almost not at all) lit and make sure you bought your groceries before you arrive. Luckily for us, there were a few staples left Margaret is super nice and the appartment is super clean. Make sure to stop here as it is a great pit stop for the Ring of Kerry, gap of dunloe or Molls gap

    Isabella2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Margaret and Patrick's place was simply amazing. A great location for extended hiking in the Black Valley, Killarney National Park and the surrounding mountains. It is the perfect place to get away from it all. The apartment is very beautiful, spacious and cozy. Margaret and Patrick are wonderful hosts who went the extra mile, greeting us with yummy homemade scones and fresh eggs. We are very sad to only have booked two nights.

    Michaela2019-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent stay at Margaret’s. She was very hospitable and responsive to requests and questions. The house is located in a breathtaking valley just a few minutes from the Gap of Dunloe, which is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been to. The house itself is perfectly sized for a couple, with new and stylish amenities. Hope to stay again one day!

Our home (a working farm) is nestled below Ireland's highest mountains on the famous Kerry Way trail in the heart of the Reeks District. The original buildings date back to 1802 and were some of the last in Ireland to receive electricity due to their remote location in one of Ireland’s most unspoiled valleys on the edge of the Killarney National Park. While the charming towns of Kenmare & Killarney are an hour’s drive away, the cottage is suited to those who are keen to truly get away from it all.
The Farmhouse is a substantial traditional four bedroom home with two king size bedrooms, and one triple bedroom (one small double and two singles) upstairs and a double bedroom downstairs. The house has a large beautifully presented kitchen/dining room (dining for up to 8), a living room with it’s original fireplace and wood burning stove. There’s a bathroom upstairs to soak any tired muscles after your hike, and a spacious shower room/toilet downstairs.    The original buildings have a rich history and date back to the early 1800's, but have been renovated to a high standard using local materials and in keeping with the traditional cottage style. They were built by some of the first families ever to arrive in the Black Valley. The cottage is located on our 1200 acre farmland including a private lake. Guests are free to roam the landscape at their leisure. We provide a basic welcome pack of homemade soda bread, butter, jam, honey, milk, sugar teas and coffee, all firewood and fire starter pack. There are basic cooking supplies of olive oil, salt and pepper. Shower gel, shampoo/conditioner and bubble bath also provided as are towels and toilet paper. There are a variety of books, games and some art supplies to use, as well as notepads and pens for journaling. There are three other cottages onsite (two are occupied by family members) but your accommodation has its own private access, parking and garden space so privacy is ensured. The cottage is entirely yours for the time you are here, as are the hills, rivers, fields and lakes for you to explore. You have complete freedom to roam but please do be cautious of the landscape and keep to the trails if you are not familiar with this type of terrain. We advise you to bring appropriate footwear for hiking. I encourage guests to spend plenty of time outdoors in nature and connect to themselves and the landscape. The only areas which are not available for guests to explore our the farm yard and buildings. This is for safety reasons. During lambing season (April/May) we keep some of the ewes (female sheep) indoors in case they need any help and to give them extra food to build their strength. We are happy to take you to see them if you wish!

The house if full of homemade art that you can even buy to bring home as memory of your journey. We can help you with some advice about what to do and what to see. Kenmare is a famous location for high quality restaurants and cafè. We have 2 double rooms next each other.

My house is 6 km from Kenmare on the N70 road in the direction of Sneem; Post Code :V93 N599. 14 Ring of Kerry is located in the Golf Village. A wonderful location to tour Ring of Kerry, Beara Peninsula and Dingle Peninsula. Close to Killarney National Park, and only minutes drive from the beautiful Heritage town of Kenmare, which has some of the best restaurants in Ireland. Golf is on the door step of 14 ROK, and Greens Restaurant is in the Club House, only minutes walk from the house.
My home is a two storey, three bedroom house. The guest bedroom is upstairs and has an ensuite bathroom. Newly decorated, spacious and bright. Coffee and tea and drinking water are included in the room rate.
The location of my home, is absolutely fantastic. Being on the magnificent Ring of Kerry Golf course, with its spectacular panoramic views of Kenmare Bay with its Islands and mountain views over the Cahas. It is very safe and quiet peaceful location. The restaurant at the Golf Club, "Greens", is a really wonderful eatery, and again wonderful views from the restaurant. Only a few minutes walk from the house.

Sheets and towels clean and comfortable. Everything was super clean. Kitchen and 2 living rooms invite you to join in. WLAN stable. The dogs are nice and quiet. The breakfast offer (6.50 € per person) we did not use. Location right on the Ring of Kerry on the grounds of a golf course. Overlooking the Bay of Kenmare. Free parking in front of the door.

  • Antoinette is a very warm and open hostess. Your home is very clean u. furnished with a lot of taste. We felt very comfortable and welcome. Your continental breakfast was amazing. We would have liked to stay longer, but we will be back.

  • Antoinette was such a gracious host. We arrived late that night and she greeted us with lovely conversation, tea and biscuits. She also has a couple pups, but keeps them separate in case you do not care for dogs. I loved having dogs there and thought it made it more cozy. Antoinette’s home is on the golf course but she helps you navigate it well and gives you many recommendations to do on your stay. Conveniently on the Ring of Kerry we were able to drive the Ring of Kerry and spend some time in Kenmare. The bedroom and bathroom were beautiful.

Up stairs the front master bedroom is ensuite and a bay window affords views of Kenmare and its surrounding mountains. • We came to Kenmare for a three night break as we have done for the last few years. There are six of us so finding a space that works for all is a task but this house did it in spades. No thought/touch was spared.. The location is perfectly placed to have a nice walk to town to indulge & another home to work it off. The house is both beautiful & functional. We're going back home rested & refreshed, just what the doctor ordered. I'd highly recommend Jane's house to anyone planning to visit Kenmare.

Self catering cottage is situated on our working farm, longside our house and shamrock B&B in The Black Valley, 13 miles from Killarney town & 15 miles from Kenmare and Killorglin . Available all year round. Weekly bookings during peak season. 2 and 3 day stays available at other times.
Our neighbour is perhaps one of the most beautiful , scenic , remote and peaceful areas in all of Ireland with natural stone walls and sheep fences along the way. While having a very remote and peaceful feeling we are still only half an hour drive from Killarney , Killorglin and Kenmare through typical small Irish country roads. Access road may not suit unadventurous or nervous drivers.
  • What a lovely little cottage int he middle of the mountain ranges in Killarney National Park. My friend and I was pleasantly surprised when we arrived here on a starry night.

  • Great cottage on a completely remote location. Beautiful scenery. You have the whole house for yourself for a very reasonable price. I'd recommend it to everyone.

  • If you are looking for an amazing little cottage off the beaten path, this is for you. This cottage is for all the adventurers and is hidden in the black valley about 45 minutes from the closest town. Margaret is very responsive and attentive and had some fresh biscuits for us when we arrived. Definitely the perfect spot to hike and be in the outdoors

  • Margaret thanks for wonderful hospitality. Everything was amazing . I would recommend this place and stay with 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

  • If you are looking to visit some of the most remote and beautiful countryside in Ireland you can not beat this lovely cottage. It is situated deep in the Black Valley above Killarney. The drive getting there is exciting and not for the faint of heart but it is well worth the trip. The cottage is snug yet large — three bedrooms, a large living room with peat/wood stove, kitchen with peat/wood stove and big leather couch, full size 4 burner stove with oven, large bathroom, washer/dryer, DVD player and movies, books, games, and anything else you could want. The bed was very comfortable (I was there by myself). I found olive oil, coffee, condiments including ketchup and lots of other food in addition to the breakfast left by Margaret and Patrick. As they say in their listing, you must stock up on groceries and on fuel for the peat/wood stoves before you head up, probably in Killarney or Kenmare (2 charming towns). Most grocery stores and gas stations sell compressed sawdust logs and large peat briquettes. You should also buy kindling or starters. There is a little cafe about 3 miles away at Lord Brandon’s Cottage. It is open afternoons in the off season until the end of October but other than that you are an hour from food. I spent a little time with Patrick who was very helpful and pleasant. Ten minutes after I got there I opened the back door to watch Patrick’s sheepdogs driving the sheep into the corral. It was a great start. Bottom line: this is a great place to stay and a real bargain. I would recommend it highly.

  • Great location if your planning walking or site seeing in the national park and you can walk straight out of the cottage on to the hills. Lovely drive through the gap of Dunlop. Great hosts, clean cottage and all you need for a nice stay.

  • If you like the seclusion is just right. Great accommodation in a beautiful location. The hosts are very nice. The road to the property is very narrow. Very interesting to drive.

  • Wonderful House located lonely in the green fields outside of Kenmare. A really peaceful place, we enjoyed it.

    Lukas2019-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • It’s a wonderful old cabin in terrific shape, with all the quirks you would expect of such a place. Modern amenities, and the host was great to deal with. Very communicative, and easy to reach when we had questions. A wonderful location close to town, and a nice 5 minute stroll down to the bay. The place felt very warm and cozy, and the porch was a beautiful place to spend the morning reading a good book. Definitely would go back again, and recommend it to others!

Kenmare town is nestled amongst the serene Kerry Mountains and forms part of the Wild Atlantic Way that stretches around the Republic of Ireland's western Atlantic coast. It is an award winning town, with a reputation for warm and welcoming hospitality. The Kerry Way Walk provides opportunity to immerse yourself in the scenery whilst the town allows you to immerse yourself in wonderful food, shops, local artisan produce, activities and places to explore.
  • What an unforgettable stay! This farmhouse was the perfect home base for our exploration of County Kerry, and the views of Kenmare Bay were so special to wake up to every morning. Our hosts were such pleasant people and gave us a warm welcome upon arrival, which was appreciated after a long day on the road.

    John2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Cannot give a higher review of the place, you need your own vehicle but it is very close to the amazing village of Kenmare. If you like hikes there is the amazing trail The Kerry Way just 1.5km away! Jim and Maud are great hosts offering great tips for restaurants and things to do. The place is amazing! views all around one really can't go wrong with this place.

  • Our hosts showed outstanding hospitality. They were very welcoming and helpful. They were able to make suggestions and recommendations based on our interests for the trip. The home is in a great location, just a short drive from town. Several great restaurants, grocery stores as well as shopping opportunities are close by. The home is in a beautiful area and was a great starting point for our daily adventures.

    Jennifer2019-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • This is a wonderful spot! The house is bright, spacious and well equipped. It is easy to access as well as private...it has a wonderful view as well....even from the shower! The hosts are accommodating and helpful. We loved our 6 day stay and would highly recommend it!

    Paul2019-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a good time at Lissyclerig. We loved the quiet location, the fact that it was spotlessly clean and how well it was equipped. It was also beautifully furnished - the pictures don’t do it justice. It was a luxury having a private toilet and washbasin for each bedroom in addition to the bathroom and extra shower! Maud and Jim were exceptionally hospitable and generous hosts providing delicious treats and staples for our stay. They were also very helpful in recommending excursions and places to visit - their collection of maps, books and leaflets was extensive. We especially enjoyed exploring the walks from the farmhouse which we managed to navigate in the pouring rain; the scenery was breathtaking. Kenmare is a delightful town - just the right size with plenty of choice of shops, restaurants and historical sites for all tastes but not overrun with tourists. Jim at the TI was hugely helpful! All in all, it was the perfect choice for our group of 4.

    Dawn2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • We were given a lovely welcome by Jim, including apple pie and scones, and really enjoyed our time exploring the area and soaking up the amazing views from the sun lounge. Four days were not enough - it would need at least a week to do the area justice. We unreservedly recommend Jim and Maud's place to stay.

    Robin2019-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • The "Farmhouse" feels like you are in a remote location, with the most beautiful scenery, yet you are only a 5 minute drive to town, Supervalue, Lidyl and Kenmare center. The location was perfect for exploring the peninsulas and local area. The 'sun room' was my favorite room in the house. It was fabulous to have a mountain view and Kenmare bay right outside your window. The cows in the pasture would come by in the morning to say hello. The hosts provided lots of current brochures and books of Ireland. The house is spacious, 2 large bedrooms, 3 toilets and 2 showers. Lots of hot water too! Thank you Maude and Jim - we loved our stay at the "Farmhouse".

The place was lovely and warm when we arrived with a fire burning in the fireplace. The place was clean, communication was great and location as described just a few km outside Kenmare. We also enjoyed the cake and eggs left out for us! Would stay there again.

  • Lovely house to stay in, very nicely decorated.

    Mary2019-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • We did not stay at Una's who contacted us the morning of the day of our arrival to tell us that there was a problem with his house and that had arranged the booking of another accommodation for our stay. The replacement accommodation was perfect, no complaints!

    Nathalie2019-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • My family of 5 stayed at Una’s after 2 weeks of traveling. This was the perfect place for us to unwind and relax in comfort. The kitchen was fully stocked for cooking so we were able to enjoy some home cooked meals. The location was perfect for our day trips to Killarney, the ring of Kerry and the Dingle Peninsula. The beds were comfortable and it’s the only place we stayed in all of Ireland that had enough hot water for us all to get nice showers. I wish we could have stayed longer!

My cosy and bright home is in a quiet little estate within a 10 min walk to Kenmare. You're welcome to a bright en-suite room with a view of the mountains.
Your upstairs room is en-suite with a comfortable double bed. This quiet home is an ideal base for exploring local amenities as well as touring on the Ring of Kerry and the Beara Peninsula. The beautiful town of Kenmare is a 10 min walk away. Here you will find shops, cafes and restaurants. Gourmet food and live music wait for you in the evenings. The house is a short drive away from the National Park. Taking the route through Molls Gap with a possible short stop at Torc Waterfalls will bring you to Killarney within no time. The Ring of Kerry as well as the Beara Peninsula offer great day tours, exploring the natural beauty cycling, walking, or driving. If you do not have a car, within 5 mins you can be hiking on the Old Kenmare Road which forms part of the Kerry Way.
The Beara Peninsula is my favourite place on earth! I would suggest to you to take at least 1 full day to explore it, and drive all the way out to it's western tip.

Stunning panoramic views of the Kenmare Bay and the surrounding mountains of the Beara Peninsula. Located in the beautiful quiet countryside of Templenoe and approx 6km from the nearby town of Kenmare. This home has been recently refurbished and is new to AirBnB. The area offers a vast array of activities including, golfing, fishing, boating, horse riding and coastal tours along the Ring of Kerry and the Wild Atlantic Way.
Three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a bright and spacious kitchen and living room area.
  • Had a wonderful 2 night stay at Mary’s place! We used it as a base to do the Ring of Kerry, and the Ring of Beara. A short drive into Kenmare for dinner, I’d say having a car for this property is essential. Clean, good facilities, easy communication with Mary, would return to this property happily.

    Nikita2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent!! Very clean, comfortable, and safety, very lovely place, we love it very much!! I’m very sorry because we were late , but Mary is very patiently waiting us, and very friendly. Perfect service!!

    Eddie2019-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • This place is truly a "Little Heaven"! We loved staying here. The house was very nice and extremely clean. They met us to show us around the house even though we arrived ridiculously late. They left us welcome gifts of fruit, wine, and chocolate. We were grateful for the washer and dryer. The views and surrounding area are incredibly beautiful! We drove to Killarney to take a coach tour of the Ring of Kerry, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Even though the house was about a 45 minute drive from Killarney, we are extremely glad we stayed there. We hope to return to Ireland and stay here again soon!

    Rebecca2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Mary’s house is beautiful. She has everything you could want laid on. She was a fountain of local knowledge. The setting is less than a half mile from the Ring Of Kerry (always travel clockwise, facing the tour buses coming on). You are less than a mile from a pier with great fishing and bait digging nearby. Locals swim off of it too. Moll’s Gap is another highlight worth taking in, 10-15 mins drive from Mary’s house. We set off on some great runs and hikes from the house, and drove to Carrauntoohil (Ireland’s tallest mountain) inside an hour. I have been visiting the Dingle area for years, which is great, but possibly a bit too busy during the summer months, whereas Kenmare and the Killarney National Park, while offering all you could want, have a steadier pace. I will use this property again and will probably bring the bicycles next time.

  • We have a wonderful stay in Mary's charming cottage with the amazing view ! For my point of view the house is simply perfect : well furnished with all equipments, absolutely clean, very quiet with a lovely garden. It's wonderful waiking up in the morning and having from your bed this marvellous view. We travel since 2009 with Airbnb and it is definitively one of our favorite houses. The location is really close to Kenmare which is a charming little town with a lot of pubs and the beautiful Killarney National Park and of course perfect to visit the Ring of Kerry and Skellig Island. We spent only 2 nights and it was really too short ! More than highly recommanded !!

    Sylvie2019-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great spot on the Ring of Kerry. It has a beautiful view across Kenmare Bay. The house is very spacious with three bedrooms and two baths so it would work well for families or couples traveling together. The kitchen is well equipped. The sitting room is comfortable and even has a wood stove for cooler nights. The house is within easy travel to Kenmare which has great restaurants and shops. The host Mary was gracious and easy to reach. Great stay!

It is very easy to get to and the house itself has great amenities (WiFi, a fireplace, a fully-fitted kitchen, two bathrooms, a TV and extremely comfortable beds) and is practically brand new and very clean. The surroundings are very peaceful and quiet and therefore ideal if you are looking for a place to have a good rest. The location is very convenient if you want to hike Carrauntoohil, the highest mountain in Ireland, or if you fancy a road trip on the Ring of Kerry or if you wish to drive to the Killarney National Park. Mary and her mother are welcoming, quick to respond and we never had any issues as everything was taken care of. It's great value for money and I would gladly come back for some more adventures! I wish I could have stayed longer!

Agnes is a fantastic host. She was very responsive, helpful, and understanding. She left us with cereals, some bread, jam, juices and milk, along with tea and instant coffee and biscuits. • We had a great few days staying at Geraldine and Niel’s house. We stayed with our 6 month old baby and could not have asked for a more comfortable stay. We had everything we needed and more. There are great views from the house and it is quite close to kenmare town, very easy to drive..we didn’t try the walk. Geraldine was there to meet us and went through everything in the house. Would definitely recommend

    Mary2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • This is house is a amazing! High quality ever where and everything (really everything) you need is in the house! Stunning view! 2 min to central Kenmare (by car). Geraldine and Niels are very good hosts!

  • Myself and my partner and two kids had a wonderful time at Geraldine & Neil’s place. The views from the house are beautiful and it’s so peaceful there. The kids really enjoyed it plenty of room to run around and play. Kenmare town a two minute drive away. We will definitely be back.

  • We had an amazing weekend at the beach tree house. Geraldine’s great welcome, tips and warm hospitality made us feel at home. The house is so inviting, beautiful and cozy decorated with a great touch. It has a charming sun room and garden room with great scenery which are amazing. The house was sparkling clean and had everything one could ask for. Geraldine and Niels succeeded in making it a treasure. The house is located only couple of minutes from the town. We really hope to come back one day.

  • Very nice and cozy house, a little outside the town

    Roberto2019-06-24T00:00:00Z
  • Booked this house to stay in Kenmare for a weekend of cycling with friends. Geraldine couldn’t have been more accommodating and was very quick to respond to any queries we had in the run up to our stay. The house was very spacious and was perfect for our stay. The kitchen and living spaces were very generous and well furnished, and with 1 bathroom and 2 en-suite, there was not much queuing for a shower after the days cycling! The views from the house are amazing - no photo could do it justice! 2 bonuses we were not expecting was access to the garage (great for a bunch of cyclists), and a wooden cabin situated simply to sit and take in the view. The house is 2.5km walk from the town centre, great for a walk down but expect a hill on the way back - you have to earn that view! Really enjoyed our stay and can’t recommend the place enough, Thank you Geraldine!

  • An absolutely gorgeous house with everything a person could want or need in a home away from home. Geraldine and Niels have thought of everything! They even had a fire going in the woodburner when we arrived. Beech Tree Lodge is cozy and serene. I wish we could have stayed longer.

This fantastic Kerry hostel is located in a relatively untouched and remote part of Ireland and 22km from the town of Killarney and perfectly situated for many off-the-beaten-track activities. Located on the Kerry Way, the Macgillycuddy Reeks and Carrauntoohill are accessible from the hostel making this an ideal location for hikers. Enjoy the spectacular scenery while horse riding at the nearby Gap of Dunloe or fishing and boating in the Upper Lakes of Killarney.
This is a private ensuite room set in a log cabin apart from the main Hostel, with it's own private entrance.
Quiet, remote area, south of the Gap of Dunloe. In the heart of the Black Valley - a beautiful and magical part of Kerry
  • Wonderful location just out of the Gap of Dunloe. It is a bit isolated, but Susan has some items to sell and allow a perfect, quiet and simple stay in the middle of the nature. Very recommended, we hope to return for some more walks.

    Ademar2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had a nice stay, really well situated to start walking and hiking. The road to Killarney is about 35-40minutes, not easy to drive there but the landscape is amazing! The breakfast is good and the kitchen clean. I recommend this hostel for families and friends.

    Mélanie2019-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • 1st time in hostel and we will start again! We were in a chalet ... The kitchen and living room were open all the same! Very welcome and listening! In the heart of the mountain with a magnificent view! To renew ! The gap dunloe is just behind the side, a few kms, the road is just splendid! The place is perfect for a change of scenery!

    Kathy2019-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • The location near Gap of Dunloe and Killarney Reserve is exceptional. The host is very available and very accommodating. I also liked the shared kitchen-living area that allows you to get to know other people and share good deals with other travelers.

  • Great place to start hikes or day trips in this beautiful area. Clean and quiet accomodation and very pleasant: simple self-catering breakfast including eggs

  • The hotel is located in an exceptional site. The room is near hotel with a dedicated entrance. The kitchen is simple but contains everything you need. the reception is also a small grocery store where you can find something for a night out. Finally, Susan ans Siobhan are very friendly, and give many tips.

The Ardmullen properties are generously proportioned two-storey homes which boast 3 spacious bedrooms (1 master en-suite, 1 double, 1 twin), comfortably sleeping up to 6 guests. Further accommodation includes a lounge with open fireplace and a large fully equipped kitchen with open plan dining area. All rooms are beautifully and stylishly decorated and are cheerfully bright, with lots of natural light and high quality furnishings. Naturally, bed linen and hotel quality towels are provided for your use. Central heating keeps you snug and warm, and the open fire can be used to create an even more comfortable atmosphere. There is satellite television in the lounge. Please note that for the benefit of all guests, these are non-smoking houses. Outside, the homes avails of safe off-street parking and at the rear there is a patio area with garden furniture . Children in your party will be delighted with the large communal green area well away from the public road. You area about a 10 min walk from the town centre
The Ardmullen houses have free wifi, open fire places, TV with Satellite Chanels. The are spacious houses designed for family living. You are also renting the house from me the owner, so if there is a problem i am at hand to help solve or fix the problem.
You are close to Kenmare centre, and there is a foot path which has public lighting so it is a safe and easy walk into town. Ardmullen is a nice mix of both local, and people rent for a few days in Kenmare
  • A very nice apartment. More precisely, a whole terraced house. For us three people just too big. Condition and equipment are impeccable. The landlord is very helpful. He came by, for example, immediately to fix a problem with the TV. On foot you are in 15 to 20 minutes in the city, which can be a bit annoying in continuous rain. A small supermarket is a bit closer. And in the city there is a free parking lot. To operate the described fireplace in the living room really, you should consult the landlord before. Firewood is none available. One should be aware that heating and electricity costs are added. They amounted to about 5 € per day. However, we have heated very sparingly. Kenmare is the friendliest and liveliest of the places we have visited in the area. There are many cozy pubs with good food and a selection of live music. For a small evening or morning walk directly from the house, I recommend the small cul-de-sac in the "Kenmare Costal Holiday Cottages" right on the Bay. It is very idyllic. Or you go a bit up the Kerry Way on the hill to the north. The crosses the street only 2 minutes from the house. But it takes already decent footwear. From there you have a magnificent view of the bay and the town.

  • Great house with lots of space and nice quiet 10 minute walk into Kenmare.

    Conor2019-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • The house is lovely and spacious, definitely one of the two nicest we stayed in during our two-week Ireland experience. The six of us were very comfortable the five days we were here. Nice walk to the town centre. Great access to the surrounding areas/sightseeing.

    Abby2019-06-22T00:00:00Z
  • The rental is consistent with the photos presented on the site. The accommodation is very spacious and very comfortable. It is an ideal starting point to visit Kerry which is beautiful. It is quiet with a beautiful view. The center of Kenmare is 10 minutes walk, all shops are present and the city is very nice. We did not meet Jer but the organization to pick up and return the keys was perfect and we knew it was available when needed. We recommend this rental without hesitation.

    Nicolas2019-04-20T00:00:00Z
  • We booked this home with four guests as we were all participanting in Kenmare Quest 2019 and will definitely look to book again. Jer was a perfect host, with the check in process simple and quick (very accommodating even though we were delayed by bad traffic so arrived at 11pm, we picked up the keys in the nearby pub). House was very spacious and clean with plenty of towels and bedlinen. Very close to the town (10 min walk) with lovely pubs / food. Will definitely be back!

We thought that the bedroom and (shared) bathroom were even more beautiful in real life compared to the pictures. It’s a 5-10 minute walk to the centre of Kenmare, which is a lovely town to spend some time and have a good meal with some beers. There’s plenty of space to park your car in front of the home. Kenmare, Kerry, Ireland

This Kerry hostel is located in a relatively untouched and remote part of Ireland and 22km from the town of Killarney and perfectly situated for many off-the-beaten-track activities.
This is a private ensuite room set apart from the main Hostel, with it's own private entrance. The room has a small double bed and bunk bed with its own toilet and shower. Towels and hand soap are provided. In the main hostel there is wifi in the common areas, complimentary tea and coffee facilities. A hairdryer is available on request. The kitchen in the hostel is for all guests to use and has a communal seating area with an open fire. A first aid kit is available at reception.
This unique valley is nestled at the foot of the Macgillycuddy Reeks between The Gap of Dunloe and Molls Gap. It has a population of approximately 60 people and has a school and a church. The Black Valley was one of the last places in Ireland to be connected to the electricity grid in 1978, the first telephone arrived to the valley in 1985. The Black Valley also neighbors the Killarney National Park and is home to The White Tailed Eagle which was part of a project in 2008 to reintroduce the bird of prey.
  • is a small hostel surrounded by beautiful nature. We stayed in the private room and found it comfortable and clean, the best after a day of walking! We have used the small food inside the hostel and the well-equipped kitchen;)

  • We booked 2 hours before we arrived. Everything worked out great. The area are around the hostel is amazing! Bring some food for dinner, the streets out of The Valley are challenging especially by night. Better stay in the hostel for dinner at sit by the stove afterwards! We will definitely come back with more time to explore everything around!

    Silvia2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • The hostel is clean and has a pleasant atmosphere. The rooms with private shower are in a small neighboring house, the Wi-Fi reception is not enough. The mattresses were comfortable and it was very quiet.

  • Exceptional site in the heart of Black Valley

    Bruno2019-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. Great place to stay while exploring the area!

    Richard2019-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • I do not know what is best. The building that is in a haven of peace or the path to access. A small mountain road as the Irish know how to avoid scratching his car on the stones along the road and wait for the sheep to cross in front of you quietly. We loved it.

    Maxime2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • A nice room next to a hostel nestled in the beautiful Black Valley. A perfect place to go hiking, explore the surroundings and be closer to nature.

    Juliette2019-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • This was a cute little cottage in the Black Valley. I would highly recommend staying if you want to explore the area and go hiking. Just remember to bring your own food as there are no restaurants around.

  • Anne was a great host. She met us at check-in and provided great tips for the area. The house was very nice with a great view and the neighborhood was lovely. Very peaceful and an easy to walk into town.

  • The house is lovely and spacious and had all the comforts of home, including a well-stocked kitchen and laundry. The location is fantastic, peaceful and quiet but just a 1k gentle walk into town down a pretty farm lane. There is construction next door but since we were there on a weekend it didn’t disrupt our stay. We would definitely return for another visit.
