  • Had a wonderful time here in Dornie! The accommodation was truly spotless, cozy, lovely decorated and it has everything one might need. It is perfectly located for anyone who wants to visit the famous Eilean Donan Castle (it is less than a 5 minute walk, you can't get any closer than this) or travel further, for example to the Isle of Skye where I've been myself. The surroundings are gorgeous as well, so if you like to walk/hike or simply enjoy spending time in nature you won't be disappointed. Vivienne, the hostess, was outstanding! Very friendly, warm, helpful and quick to respond to messages. Thank you for the fantastic stay, won't hesitate to come back again in the future if I get the chance :)

  • This B and B is a stones throw from Eilean Donan and an excellent jumping off point to the Isle of Skye. There are petrol stations near by however, there is a lack of options for dining. Unfortunately the pub owned by the B and B was closed for the remainder of the year however there is a small hotel restaurant 1 min away. Don’t let this deter you, excellent space!

  • Great location near the Eileen Donan castle on the way to Skye. The room was very clean and warm, which was much appreciated after driving in the storm.

  • The village is so delicious and the room perfectly clean and tidy. The breakfast is very good and Vivienne is a very attentive host. I really felt at home.

  • I loved this B&B! It’s small and cozy and in a perfect location. In close proximity to the Eilean Donan Castle so you can visit in the daylight and go back to see it lit up at night. The Clachan Bar was shut down for the season, but we were able to grab a bite to eat at the Dornie Hotel right next to us. The food was superb! Vivienne supplied our room with goodies so when we showed up our first day starving, we had access to croissants, meat and cheese right away. Toast, cereal, juice and milk were the right start the next morning. We spent one night because Dornie is so close to Isle of Skye. We spent the next night on Skye then returned to the Clachan B&B for a second stay. Great choice...just like seeing an old friend. You won’t regret staying here!!!

Walking in the forest is encouraged and the friendly local gamekeeper (Colin) also offers Argo tours (in an all-terrain-vehicle) to get very, very close to the deer. Some of our guests have done this and it comes highly recommended. •Clay pigeon shooting and deer stalking can also be arranged. Sailing •Lochcarron sailing club Single Track Roads There are many miles of single track roads in the area so please follow the following guidelines to keep the ‘locals’ happy and you safe! •Stop at a passing place to let oncoming traffic pass. Who does the stopping is generally dictated by who is closest to the final passing place you approach. Don't drive past the final one in the face of an oncoming vehicle or you will be expected to reverse. •Only enter a passing place on your left. If the passing place is on your right, stop opposite it and let the oncoming vehicle enter the space. •Passing places are also there to enable traffic to overtake. Check your mirrors regularly and if there is a car behind you, please pull into the first available passing place on the left and stop to allow them to overtake. •Don’t park in passing spaces. •It is common practice for drivers to acknowledge each other with a small wave as you meet at a passing place to thank each other for the courtesy shown. •The roads are usually quiet and the scenery is always breathtaking, so relax and enjoy the drive, you’re on holiday! Shopping •The nearest bank is in Kyle of Lochalsh - although the Spar and Hotel in Lochcarron both offer 'cashback' with purchases. •Patterns of Light in Kishorn sells some super gifts. •The Spar in Lochcarron sells most of the daily essentials along with logs, coal, fishing tackle and a surprisingly well stocked hardware section upstairs. •The petrol station at Lochcarron Garage in the east end of the village sells a good range of food, milk and bread. •Tesco, Inverness (69 miles) is the nearest superstore. Inverness has a wide range of shops selling everything you could need. •Local seafood can be purchased at McIver Shellfish in Kenmore, Applecross and smoked salmon at the Loch Torridon Smokehouse in Shieldaig but there are a lot of fishermen locally - chiefly landing langoustine, crab and lobster so look out for roadside signs or ask around. Sport •Watch the traditional Highland sport of shinty played in Lochcarron most Saturdays. Taxis •Unfortunately, there is currently no taxi service in the local area. Trains •An exceptionally scenic train line connects Strathcarron to Inverness or Kyle of Lochalsh. Walking •There are an almost unlimited number of walks in the area. In Achintraid itself you can walk left (west) from the road in front of Craigellachie House to the road end and then onto the forestry track where there is a pretty view of Plockton and Skye at the end of the track (approx. 2 hours return). Alternatively, walk right 100m from the road by the Chalet and follow the signs for the hill paths above Achintraid. •A selection of walking books and maps will be provided in the chalet for your use. •There are several walking websites but Walkhighlands is one of the best and has many informative walks plus maps. Wildlife •Dolphins and porpoises can often be spotted in Loch Carron, and the seas between Kishorn and Skye. •Otters and seals are regularly spotted anywhere in Loch Kishorn. Any time of day is good for otter-spotting but it is easiest when the loch is calm, they have even been seen walking on the road in front of the Chalet. •Golden Eagles can be seen almost anywhere in the area but the glen between Lochcarron and Kishorn is a good bet. •Pine Marten frequent the whole area but can be tricky to spot although they do sometimes come into the garden. •Sea eagles (white tailed eagles) nest on Shieldaig Island and also in the cliffs around Portree and there is a cctv feed of the nest site at the Aros Centre just south of Portree. •There are red deer everywhere and they often come into the garden!

Alternatively, walk right 100m from the road by the Studio and follow the signs for the hill paths above Achintraid. •A selection of walking books and maps will be provided in the Studio for your use. Any time of day is good for otter-spotting but it is easiest when the loch is calm, they have even been seen walking on the road in front of the Studio.
  • A great little studio for two with a lovely view of loch and mountains. Close to lots of walks and beautiful scenery. Highly recommend driving the Bealach na Bah and coastal route and food at the Plockton Inn.

  • Neil and Carol made Digby and I feel thoroughly welcome from the moment we arranged our booking, the communication was swift and considerate. Once we arrived at the Studio we were filled with delight at how whimsically beautiful the home is and all the thoughtful finishing touches that add just that extra bit of joy. My personal favourite was the painted oyster catcher waiting to usher us in on the steps. Plus, the amenities were unendingly well stocked and functional, Digby took extra delight at your garlic press because we are both fiends for the stuff. Also, I really appreciated the heart-shaped ice cubes preset in the fridge for use. Moreover, the book collection was greatly to our liking, if only we had spared more time for extra reading on our trip. Lastly, we could not wish for a more breathtaking location on the loch with the mountain views offering an astounding backdrop. I would highly recommend a wonderful holiday here, our stay was absolute bliss and I am certain that we will return :)

  • Amazing views! This is a well situated and pleasantly appointed space. Very comfortable! Fast and consistent wifi, which is not always the case in rentals in this region. The hosts made everything very simple and easy.

  • The place is very nice, near eilan castle. The bed is Nice. The breakfast is Perfect.

    Marion2019-11-19T00:00:00Z
  • I was staying here as I was performing at a wedding at nearby Eilean Donan castle. This little B&B was great. Very private, spotlessly clean and made even more ideal by the fact that there’s a little fridge and kitchen appliances in the room, so people like myself who are unsociable at breakfast don’t have to stray far from bed to eat. I would not hesitate to stay here again or recommend it to anyone.

  • Great place for a night's rest. Vivienne was great and had arranged what was required for us. Special place for us.

  • The room was spotless, warm and great value. Provided free wifi was also very useful. Ideally situated in the centre of the village for the shop and pub (hotel) Breakfast provided with lovely fresh orange juice/ cold meat/ cheese and bread. Cereal was also available. Would definitely stay again.

  • All excellent. Very clean room, good communication. I would definitely go again.

    Mario2019-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • Vivienne’s place was perfect for one night. Easy to find with the directions and to check in. Unfortunately the pub across the street was close but we had dinner at the Dornie hotel just on the other side of the road. The continental breakfast is prepared in advance and mostly made of industrial products but still generous. We really appreciated the location, only 10min walk to Eilan Donan castle !! We would recommend staying here!

    Marion2019-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice bed and breakfast in a great location in Dornie. The location is within walking distance of the Eilean Donan castle. Place is cozy and clean with very fast internet. Communication with the host was very prompt and Vivienne was very hospitable. Unfortunately, the Clachan Pub was closed for the season but dinner at the Dornie Hotel was great.

Bright and airy bedroom, private bathroom with deep luxury bath in a modern house designed to maximise the stunning view of the sea and the surrounding mountains. An extensive breakfast selection, including home made and local produce. The house is situated in the village of Stromeferry, a short drive from bridge to the Isle of Skye and also from the NC500 Route.
A unique contemporary property with outstanding views. The house is situated in a tiny village with good transport links. Stromeferry is an ideal base for exploring both the Isle of Skye and this part of the Scottish Highlands. We are sited in a good place for those following 'northcoast500' - especially if an extra day for exploring the Isle of Skye is on the agenda. The seashore is a few minutes walk away. Woodland walks nearby and lots of wildlife on the doorstep. We are regularly seeing a seal popping up and down in the water, also dolphins infrequently visit the loch and their movement is clearly visible from the house. There are boat trips in the area and we will happily recommend something to suit your plans. Breakfast offers a chance to try some Highland cheeses, the freshest of eggs from our own hens, home-made bread and jams as well as a selection of fruits and cereal.
Stromeferry is all about the view. The village is small (15 houses), quiet and easy to drive to. It is an ideal base for exploring both the Isle of Skye, Lochalsh, the Applecross Peninsula and Torridon areas.
  • Great room and amazing house! The view is amazing as well.

  • Kathleen and Julian gave us a warm welcome since the first minut to the last. They were aware to each details to make our stay comfortable like home. The room and the bathroom are completely new and perfectly clean. We even receive new towels after each shower. The view on the lake from the room and the house is amazing. A dream to wake up there. The breakfast with local food is delicious. We definitely recommend this place !

  • Outstanding location ideal to explore the area - we headed to Skye for the day and Julien kindly let us have a detailed map . Stunning views that photographs cannot do justice . Contemporary sparkling clean home and we enjoyed the huge bath and comfortable bed. Really tasty breakfast of scrambled eggs made with their own free range hen’s eggs and delicious local cheeses ! Kathleen is warm and welcoming and full of local knowledge . I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend highly the White House B&B . We will return !

  • So thankful to the hospitality we received, It was definitely the best Airbnb experience we ever had. Sparkling clean dream house in a quiet, scenic location not far from towns where nice restaurants located in. It is in a perfect location to take a day trip to the Isle of Skye as well. To add, the breakfast was very good!

  • This was, by far, the best AirBnB we've ever stayed at! Amazing home, hospitality and local tips. Kathleen and her husband were both very friendly, kind and spectacular hosts! Kathleen gave us great local tips which helped us plan our day and we ended up visiting places that we wouldn't have otherwise. The house is beautiful, clean and very cozy. Kathleen also provided us with delicious breakfast in the morning which was such a nice touch while traveling so far from home! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

My place is close to nowhere. The idea is to escape! There are pubs , restaurant and shops in Plockton if that is what you seek.. You’ll love my place because of the views, the escape, and the chance to experience something different on a budget.. The Pent Hoose is good for couples and solo adventurers, but it will only accommodate 2 people. There is NO electricity and you will need to bring sleeping bags and a torch. Please read all the details before you book! Check in 4 - 6 pm!!
This is a WOODEN TENT. Instead of sleeping on the ground under canvas we give you a covered mattress on to which you can put your sleeping bags. The "hoose" is in a field on a farm which has sheep, goats, llamas, racoons, ducks, hens, rabbits, owls and a donkey. They roam freely around the farm and you will see them on your way to the penthouse or evidence that they have been there! You can get food near our white painted house with which to feed them and can come in to the Racoon pen and feed them with one of us.
They published the local crime statistics a few years ago and 54 crimes had been committed, 53 of them by the same man "drunk and disorderly" and one by a confused dementia patient who walked off with an umbrella! It is a quiet, peaceful location which we enjoy. We could "update" our lodges and camping facilities but we fear it would attract a different clientele which we would rather avoid. Our best guests have been coming for over 30 years to enjoy the walking, sailing, climbing and just relaxation they get from this lovely area. We have had people marry on the beach and their offspring got engaged to other guests offspring that they met whilst on holiday as children. A home from home for so many people who are now classed more as friends than guests and we would not want to change this. Thus if you would class your self as "fussy" or "particular" or have not gone camping under canvas before, think twice about what you book as this may not be for you. There is no electricity in the "hoose" and the toilet is a walk away, you may encounter sheep (or the tell tale signs that one has been there!) on your way and this, whilst normal for wild campers, may not appeal to everyone.
  • A special place, wonderful surroundings. The camping huts under the rowan trees are cozy.

  • Pleasant peaceful night away from the hustle and bustle.

We also loved watching the plethora of birds in the garden while enjoying our breakfasts overlooking the Loch. We made good use of the local walking guidebook as there’s such a selection of amazing walks in the area. We really hope to return, Shieldaig is a magical little place. Thanks so much Chrissy and Amanda!

A delightful little place to stay and newly finished in May 2019 'The Wee House' can be found right next door to our own (slightly bigger) house, 'Heisgeir'. We will be on hand just next door to give you a warm welcome and to ensure your stay with us, and in our area, is both enjoyable and peaceful. Being born and brought up in the area we hope our local knowledge will allow you make the most of your stay.
  • The Wee House more than lived up to our expectations and Murray could not have been more hospitable - greeting us personally on our arrival, taking the time to give us tips on local walks in the area and even lighting the wood burning stove. The house is in a fantastic location, with wonderful views all around. Inside, it's beautifully furnished, with everything you could possibly need. I would highly recommend a stay at The Wee House and definitely plan to return in the future.

    Gudrun2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • I think the fact Murray built this accommodation himself shines through in the design considerations made for guests. The property feels entirely private and has a fantastic mountain vista from the main-room. It is very well kitted out with mod-cons and surprisingly (for rural Scotland) fast wifi. The hosts clealy care about their guests as they left us fresh milk and tea bags etc; little touches like that can mean a lot. Murray himself gave us a warm welcome and was very hospitable. Its a great jumping-off point for Skye, but could also serve as a base for those wanting to knock off a few munros. Couldnt fault the place.

    Simon2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • This is a wonderful home and great location. The attention to detail is incredible and it's spotlessly clean. It was so much better than we thought it would be and the pictures don't do it justice. Great value for money. We will be back!

  • Murray’s place is fantastic. We really recommend a stay here, great location. Everything was as explained and more. Superbly clean, well equipped kitchen and comfy bed. Welcome to Otter Bay, a newly built larch-clad house which we designed and commissioned. The location, beside a tidal loch in the mountains of Kintail is stunning and peaceful. It is set back on a peninsular where some days the only sounds are of wading birds. Guests like to visit Skye from here, but many are amazed at the beauty locally in Lochalsh. Our position is ideal for hiking, mountain walking, cycling and kayaking.
The "The Signal Box" is a tiny box room (with space for only one person) within the owner's model railway room. It is situated upstairs, where there is an adjacent private shower room, wardrobe and sitting area at a desk.
It is a small remote neighbourhood, four miles from the nearest shop or pub and twelve miles from the Skye Bridge. If you like peace and quiet, away from the tourist routes, this is the place for you.
  • A superb welcome in a magnificent setting with a view of the loch whatever the room of the house!

    Rémi2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • It was absolutely wonderful this welcome, very warm, full of exchanges, Keith and Beverly are genuinely benevolent towards their guests, of an availability never met before ... proof also of a sincere intention to receive, the lunch which is sensational , there are all the ingredients of the English breakfast, never seen such preparation full of attentions ... You leave them therefore having the impression of having lived a hell of a good time full of humanity .... and the setting is quite simply fantastic .... at the foot of a lake, with a magnificent view of the mountains that border it .... what a chance again tell me I have fallen on them ... so I highly recommend this accommodation ..

    Emmanuel2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Probably the best Airbnb I’ve ever stayed in - Keith and Beverly could not be more gracious hosts, between the last-minute booking, tea upon arriving, laundry, SAUNA!!, breakfast, suggestions for exploring the local area (nearby coral beach and plockton inn are musts!), and warm chats. They have a gorgeous new home situated in an even more stunning spot on loch long. Perfect for solo travelers or anyone making their way up the Scotland’s west coast. Can’t recommend highly enough! Thanks for everything, Keith and Beverly!!

  • It's a great place, gorgeous location. Very lovely and wonderful place to stay. Absolutely clean, great and delicious breakfast. Lovely host, who are very helpful and giving me the best tips for what to do in the area. Both hosts and her cat are very pleasant. I can totaly recommend it in any case! Charles2020-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • I had a great stay with Keith and Beverley! They are extremely welcoming from arrival and make you feel part of the home. Their home is stylish and comfortable. Guests have a nice, large bedroom and a private bathroom. There is a great open kitchen/living area for socialising + a sauna! The location is stunning, on the beach of a sea loch overlooking a couple of Corbetts. Keith and Beverley can provide great info on local hiking trails and the best pubs to visit. This is also a perfect base to explore Skye and Eilean Donan from. And their Scottish breakfast is 10/10. Perfect!

Angels’ Share is an architect designed contemporary cottage over looking Knock Bay and the ruins of Knock Castle. There is spacious accommodation for two people, with room for two children or two “small adults” on a sofa bed. The cottage is situated on the Sleat peninsula known as the Garden of Skye. The cottage is not far from from the Skye Bridge and the mainland ferry ports. It makes a great base for exploring the whole of Skye's beautiful scenery.
There is electric heating throughout (under floor in the shower room) and a wood burning stove for those colder evenings. A welcome pack and an initial supply of fuel for the stove. We allow pets by arrangement.
The cottage is next to Skye newest Whisky Distillery (Torabhaig) which is certainly worth a visit. The drive to the cottage from either the ferry port (Armadale) or the Skye Bridge takes you through stunning countryside with magnificent views across the Sound of Sleat to the mountains of the Scottish mainland.
  • John and Mhairi were amazing hosts. Angels Share is a gem within a beautiful island. Their thoughtful were greatly appreciated and made the cottage a pleasure to stay in.

    Maxine2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Great accomodation, everything you need and quiet relaxing place. John provides lots of lovely personal touches that make you feel very welcome. We stayed for 4 nights and it was the perfect base from which to explore Skye.

  • John and Mhairi have created a fantastic space with the most thoughtful touches to create a home when exploring the beautiful isle of skye. Nice and tucked away, the place is modern, amazingly clean and stylish throughout with a real Scottish feel. By far the nicest Airbnb ever stayed in and would recommend to anybody.

  • This place is amazing! Beautifully decorated, warm & comfortable, stunning location & full of lovely little touches which made us feel like we were staying in a fancy boutique hotel! John & Mhairi were wonderfully welcoming, friendly and accommodating. The bed was comfy, and the house was equipped with everything from coffee maker to an Alexa. Very close to Torabhaig distillery, the beach & the ruins of Knock Castle, so stuff to do close by. Couldn't quite believe the quality of this place, thanks so much for our amazing holiday!

  • We enjoyed a very chilled 3 night stay at Angels Share. The accommodation is immaculate and kitted out with everything you’d possibly need. An ideal base for exploring the beautiful island of Skye. We loved sitting by the fire and chilling while watching the storm outside. John and Mhairi were excellent hosts giving a friendly check-in and thoughtful welcome pack. We’ll definitely be back.

  • We had a wonderful stay at Angels Share. The weather let us down (thanks Storm Ciara) but the cottage was a beautiful base from which to have windy rejuvenating walks on the beach, great food at the nearby Am Praban bar. The wood burning stove and welcome pack were much appreciated when we were wet and cold :) we loved our weekend away and would definitely stay again. Dog friendly too!

  • We had an amazing stay at Angels Share. John and Mhairi were excellent hosts who gave us complete space and privacy to enjoy their accommodation but we knew they were right there if we needed them, and we didn’t! Angels Share has all you could want or need and more, it’s packed with thoughtful and homely touches, providing everything to connect you with the modern world but also everything to occupy you if you want to disconnect - the best of both worlds! We have already been recommending Angels to friends and family and would recommend it to everyone. We can’t wait to return.

  • Highly recommend :) It was a pleasure to spend these days with my wife in John and Mhairi’s cottage which is equipped with absolutely everything that could possibly be needed. The house is very nice, clean and tidy with a fireplace which makes you feel cosy. It is located near to the store and about 40 minutes to Portree. We loved this place because it feels like home away from home, was made with passion and attention to every detail. We are grateful for the help and warm welcome! Thank you!

Plockton is stunning and if you are looking for somewhere to stay, that is as stunning as it’s location, this is the place. Pure luxury.

  • Absolutely loved our time at Ian and Anne's place and couldn't recommend it enough. It's in a beautiful setting with the inside of the house matching the beautiful outside. I'd also highly recommend getting yourself to the Plockton Inn for a few pints and taking a walk to the beach a few kilometres away.

The seating area has a curved screen satellite smart TV with freest and a DVD, a wood burning stove with plentiful supply of logs, just in case there's a drop of rain, and there's plenty of room for coats and boots in the porch. The bedroom is comfortable and has built in storage, towels and linen are of Egyptian cotton, and the queen size bed can be twinned. There is an ensuite shower room with all you will need. An Airidh is a traditional property and has a lovely tranquil feel about it - sure to help you relax into your holiday as soon as you arrive. Outside it has its own garden with seating area and dedicated parking. The village shop and cafe is a short walk away and stocks essentials and treats, and can be recommended for its excellent coffee and lunches.
Torridon itself is a place of outstanding natural beauty with abundant flora, fauna and wildlife, and is perfect for hill walking, cycling, mountaineering, fishing, water sports, boat trips, exploring and sightseeing. The Torridon Hotel and pub is approximately 2 miles away, the scenic village of Sheildaig with its Hotel, bar and cafe is approximately 7 miles away and our excellent Gillie Brighde award winning fish restaurant is approximately 9 miles away in a picturesque coastal village.
  • We’ve just had the most amazing few days at Kev & Anne’s cottage in Torridon. 3 days simply wasn’t enough, and despite it being January & most places locally being closed, we were happy to spend our time by the fire in such a beautiful space! We went to Applecross for lunch & did the Diabaig to the Craig bothie walk & seen some of the most spectacular scenery. And the stars ❤️ We will definitely be back ;)

    Saskia2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely, cosy, very well equipped and extremely comfortable cottage. Home from home. We loved everything about it...the story behind the cottage, the beautiful internal decorations, the amenities and the wonderful views across Loch Torridon. It was definitely rebuilt with love and passion for the surrounding area. Our ideal holiday cottage. Torridon is a place of outstanding natural beauty and is well placed for some very good 'hill walking' and other low level walks. Recommend the walk up to the Triple Buttress. The triple buttress and the clear water of the hill loch is a sight to behold. A short drive to Shieldaig is worth the visit and the a must do is the Bealach na Ba to Applecross and a return journey along the coast road. Nanny's in Shieldaig is good for lunch and cake. Liz Broome's pop-up 'Fish Friday' at the local village hall / gallery was a definite highlight. So glad we made it and the fish curry and prawn tempura was amazing. Good coffee and cake at the Gallery and the village shop. We would recommend Anne and Kev's place to anyone and we hope to go back there again.

  • We stayed in the house for a week and it was just amazing. We lacked nothing. It was thought of everything and decorated with a lot of love. A small house for absolute well-being and for switching off.

    Maria2019-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • Torridon is a remote and beautiful mountainous area and the cottage is delightful. Kev and Anne have put a great deal of love and care in to developing the cottage. It is cosy, relaxing and equipped with everything you need. Anne and Kev are friendly and helpful and we had a fantastic holiday.

    Julie2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The cottage is beautifully and thoughtfully equipped and decorated and a great base for exploring the area. Loch Torridon is a fantastic location, it somehow has wild remoteness and sheltered friendliness at the same time. Anne and Kevin are lovely hosts, warm and welcoming.

    Susan2019-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • An absolute gem. A fabulous place to stay where everything has been thought of, sparklingly clean and extremely comfortable. Lovely hosts and an amazing area to explore. Thoroughly recommend.

The contact was very friendly, fast and uncomplicated. The cottage is super clean and very tastefully decorated with everything you need. We just spent a rainy day there because it was so comfortable. Torridon and its surroundings are just amazing. We would definitely come again. Absolutely recommended!

Nice double bedroom in a rustic, tired, old (250 years) cottage. However still able to offer you a warm Highland welcome! Very secluded area set on our family farm. 7 mile narrow road in with beautiful views in the hamlet of Camusluinie, near Kyle of Lochalsh. A great place to unwind. No phones. No internet. No TV. Ideal base for exploring Skye Island (25 mins from bridge) and Donan Castle (18 mins). Fantastic walks including a short trek to the Whitefalls waterfall (Eas ban waterfall).
Tigh Iseabail is a rustic cottage in a remote location.Get away from the hectic tourist trail. All very basic and certainly not 5 star accommodation. However it is clean and warm with central heating. Overall an ideal place to chill.
There are many walks from right out the front door, with the difficulty ranging from easy to hard. These include a walk to the Falls of Glomach (Britain's highest) which takes approximately 6 hours. You can walk on any of the surrounding mountains but if you do, please remember to keep your dogs on a lead (particularly if sheep and lambs are grazing). Do note that we are not on the Isle of Skye but offer a peaceful alternative away from the main tourist route and you can reconnect with tourist route in 15 minutes.
  • Wonderful place! I wanted somewhere out of the way so I could get a little rest and relaxation and this was the most perfect place for that! And close enough that I could get out and see some of the greatness the highlands have to offer

    Jamie2020-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is well equipped. It is easy to find and is a lovely warm place to stay. We enjoyed the local walks as there are several in the area. There is a TV (to use with DVDs), DVDs, and books to entertain. The kitchen has everything needed to cook with a good fridge freezer. Highly recommended especially for walkers.

    Tris2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Above all this cottage is warm and well heated, which is great when you arrive on a frosty November night and it's minus 3 outside. The host is friendly and helpful and lives close by. Good hot shower. I would certainly be happy to stay again.

Christine provides a personal touch that was very nice indeed, and we loved the house so much that we barely stepped out all. Definitely recommend!

Covid-19 Coronavirus: For the time being, to protect our very fragile health service and the many older and vulnerable residents of this small island, I am not taking any new bookings for May/June, when I will review again. Who knows what lies ahead for all of us, but please save my wee Bothy to your favourites and when the time is right, come and visit us. In the meantime, stay safe, stay home, wash your hands and use the time to plan your future trip to Skye. Thank you.
The Strawbale Bothy is made from simple, natural materials; wood, clay, straw and lime, there are no nasty chemicals, no concrete, and where we have had to use plastic, it is to an absolute minimum. A perfect place for two to slow down and watch the view. We’re sure you will love the feel of staying in a natural home, the softness of the clay plaster walls, the luminous light of the lime washed shower room and the warmth of local larch wood. There is a light and airy living area with an electric stove, Bluetooth speaker, books and games to keep you entertained if you get bored of the stunning views over to the hills of Knoydart. There is a small kitchen area with induction hob, combination microwave oven, washer dryer and all the other things you would expect to find. There is a cosy box bed, dressed with a duck down duvet, soft, relaxed French linen and Egyptian cotton. From your bed you can stare at the stars at night or watch the sunrise in the morning. You also have a spacious en suite shower room with traditional flush toilet. The Strawbale Bothy is exactly what it says, it is a loadbearing strawbale building built on foundations made from car tyres filled with rammed gravel. We’ve tried to make sure this wee building has as low an impact on the planet as possible. We have not used any concrete in its construction, practically everything can be recycled or biodegradable, we've only used plastic where there has been no alternatives or the alternatives are a bit, well - yeuch! Try plastic free showering with handmade soap and solid shampoo by local Scottish artisans. Feel doubly virtuous by washing up and only using natural bristle brushes and cotton dish cloths. Booking and Availability: Covid-19 Coronavirus: It is a worrying, uncertain time so if you are thinking of booking, here are a few points to help you decide: I have made some changes to the Bothy. My place is frequently rated as 'sparkling clean', but I have introduced some additional, non environmentally friendly measures, just to make sure. This includes cleaning with bleach based disinfectants and single use paper cloths. Replacing artisan locally made solid soap with liquid soap in single use plastic bottles (when I can get them). Replacing vintage and handmade crockery and cutlery with dishwasher proof items - all crockery and cutlery goes through a hot wash in a dishwasher between guests. Washing bedlinen and towels at a higher temperature with biological powder. Lining bins with single use plastic liners. My cancellation policy will remain as 'Strict'. However, please check Airbnb's Extenuation Circumstances Policy. This tells you when you can get a full refund if your trip is affected by the Coronavirus. I really believe this to be fair. If you contract the virus, or have to self isolate, or your flights have been cancelled, or the Government has imposed restrictions, or your doctor has advised you not to travel, then you can claim a full refund under the Policy (correct at the time of writing 14 March). Alternatively, if you do book and then decide you would prefer not travel at that time, rather than cancel your trip and possibly lose your money, you could consider changing your dates until later in the year, just request a 'change of dates' and subject to availability, I'd be happy to organise it. If however, you wish to cancel because, for example, the weather is not looking good, then the usual cancellation policy will apply. So, if you are curious about what it would be like to stay in a home made without concrete, bricks and plastic, and stay on one of the most beautiful islands in the world, we would love to meet you.
  • Super stay at the straw bale Bothy! It’s warm and cosy, has great views of mountains and the sea, and is so peaceful! It’s a good base for sightseeing on the Island, which is stunning! Our stay coincided with beginning of the Coronavirus pandemic lockdown but Nicola was so kind and reassuring, she has taken every step to make sure the Bothy is super clean and safe, we wish we could have stayed up here in the fresh air rather then go back to the city!

    Vicky2020-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • Nicola’s bothy was an amazing place to stay for our visit to Skye. Really comfy and unique place in a great location. The surrounding views are amazing and it was lovely to get home after a tiring day and relax there! Nicola couldn’t have been more helpful and friendly! Would thoroughly recommend this place to anyone visiting Skye!

    Graham2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • I loved this Bothy. I had such an incredible time here. It is the perfect place to relax and unwind, but also to use as a base for exploring Skye, even in winter! The bothy itself had all the things I needed, with little thoughtful and personal touches from Nicola that made it all the more special and relaxing. It is in a great location. Waking up every morning and watching the sunrise over the mountains from the bedroom window, to stargazing outside on a clear evening. It is a beautiful place. Nicola was incredibly attentive and thoughtful, which just made my time at the bothy special and seamless. Her vegan chocolate brownies were also to die for! I will definitely be returning to this bothy!

It’s a very comfortable and cosy place.. you will feel at home straight away. Nicola’s place is located in a lovely spot close to the beach and local amenities. Nicola is a lovely host and was always available if we needed anything. She welcomed us with incredibly tasty cakes and gave us a lot information regarding places to visit. We absolutely loved everything about our stay and would definitely go back again. Thank you Nicola !

  • The Strawbale Bothy is a real authentique detailed and handmade home for all kind of travellers. It's made for two people and if they are not related it could be interesting in the cosy bed. I like the fact, that there is no TV in the bothy and that you recognize the owner in every detail of the bothy. Nicola welcomed us very warm and kindly. We got a very nice talk and she gave us nice tips for our short trip through the Isle. Well, I could write a whole more of the bothy, but at least just this: Go there and fall in love like we did! Thank you Nicola, we will definetly come back again.

    Phil2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • The place is absolutely amazing with a stunning view over the sea! We could even sit outside and watch the stairs in the night. Super cosy and well-decorated place with plenty of space for two people, we didn't need anything, everything was just perfect and Nicole was such a lovely host.

Many things are made by Jeff with love and warmth. For breakfast, Jeff served fresh bread and butter, as well as strawberries, melon and grapefruit. Jeff also plays the guitar well and sings beautifully. Hi Jeff! We’ll be nearby, we’ll definitely visit you !!

  • We had a great night at Jeff's. Nice person who knows his region very well. A very authentic, warm and welcoming atmosphere in an incredible and wild place! Pretty driftwood objects made by the host himself as well as maps of the region give a lot of charm to the house. We would have gladly stayed longer! Jeff has a lot to teach his visitors. Very nice meeting, I recommend!

  • This is a perfect escape from civilisarion! A stunning location in a beautifully built lodge by the river. We loved watching the birds from the decking. And waking up to snowy mountain views and the river flowing past was something else! Amazing - even in Storm Dennis! Would definitely come again 😊

    Kate2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • The lodge more than exceeded our expectations. Beautiful, clean and warm for our winter stay. Just what we needed, we will be staying again soon!

  • We have had such a lovely stay we have loved it, the complementary touches were so thoughtful. I was slightly dubious as not many reviews from people with children but we have truly enjoyed it, dogs and children too lots of place nearby to explore. Definitely worth a stay. Thanks Rebecca

    Stacey2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Grianain lodge. The space has been well thought out and was a home from home. Lovely decking area overlooking the river, and of course we were lucky to have snow. Everything was in tip top condition, with plenty of amenities. The lodge is off mains power grid, which was really nice to know. Yet retained all the functionality you would expect. Nice touches, like Netflix on the smart TV as there isn't TV signal, some games, dvds etc. All in all a great stay.

  • Lovely lodge with everything you need for a break in the Scottish Highlands.

The small, scenic village of Kyleakin boasts fabulous views with the unique medieval ruins of the 14th century 'Castle Moil' located nearby. Situated less than 1 mile from the Skye bridge, the cottage is an ideal base for exploring Skye, her beautiful scenery, walks, hikes as well as the numerous exhibitions and tours the island has to offer. You'll find peace and tranquility unrivalled here, with the only regret being that you'll wish you had stayed much longer.
The Isle of Skye cottage was one of the first original houses built in Kyleakin in the early 20th century. The cottage sleeps four guests with its double and two single beds. Original stone work and wooden features are evident throughout the building. The ground floor comprises of open plan kitchen, dining room and living area, adding space and freedom to relax within your West Highland cottage surroundings. After a long day, absorbing what Skye is all about, you'll find this fishermans cottage to be an extremely warm and cosy environment. Whether having braved dramatic coastline trails, mountain summits, rough seas or prevailing weather conditions, I'm sure you'll have enjoyed all of your time in this magical, natural environment.....
  • Just had a lovely few days at Séamus' cottage. It was stylish, clean and has all needed amenities. Would recommend!

    James2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • A fab and beautifully presented cosy home on the harbour front in Skye. The underfloor heating was a dream (as sadly we had a bit of bad weather during our stay) and even when unable to venture out, we could take in the views and peruse the great selection of guidebooks and leaflets available in the cottage. The cottage is a great location for exploring Skye and the mainland coast. Thank you for a lovely peaceful break.

    Kate2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • We were really thrilled and would highly recommend the property. The communication went extremely well and smoothly in advance - Séamus responded not only quickly, but also very extensively and informatively. The cottage was easy to find and is super comfortably furnished - so you immediately get into the "Skye mood". The heating was already switched on and there were fresh flowers on the table - a nice gesture of welcome. The cottage was super clean, the decor is very good - we even cooked every now and then. You can hear the rain pounding on the roof, which is incredibly cozy. You can play great games at the big table. Many information brochures are available so that you can also undertake plenty of activities. We would come back here anytime - the trip was too short :)

    Lara2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed as a family at Seamus's during the February half-term holidays in wet and snowy weather. The cottage is really cosy for families and so stylish. The location is stunning, with views of the harbour and just a minute's walk from the ruined Castle Moil. Seamus was great: really helpful about food and music info on Skye. The cottage is a fantastic base for visiting Skye and the mainland!

    Rowan2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at Skye Cottage, despite the winter storms, which meant our hiking holiday was very much curtailed! The property itself was so warm (underfloor heating downstairs made it an ABSOLUTE dream). There were plenty of blankets to keep warm in the raging winds and hail. Loved the general Amenities and gentlemanly interior vibe! We would definitely come back again (and hopefully this time get on our planned hikes!)! Thanks, Séamus!

    Lettice2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful cottage in a stunning location. Seamus was a wonderful host and i highly recommend him. Everything we needed was there making the holiday lovely! I hope to revisit next year!

    Nicola2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Seamus cottage is amazing, nice and comfortable. A great place to explore the Isle of Sky where to come back, relax and feel like home. Hope to come back soon!

    Giulia2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Just a wonderful place to recharge your batteries, and I am mystified how Seamus managed to literally give us sunshine for almost a week when the forecasts was rain, rain, rain. Thank you.

Live like a local for a while on our beautiful island.
Privately situated right on the seashore in a peaceful crofting township, Fossil Cottage is a cosy, quirky home from home. You couldn’t be closer to nature here. Fossil Cottage has one double bedroom, a living-room with outstanding views of the sea right outside and spectacular sunsets. There is a fully-equipped open-plan kitchen, a shower-room with a great shower – and a location second to none. The works of local artists hang on the walls and many fascinating old items add to the sense of history. The old stone walls have fossils in them. The cottage is about two miles from the village of Broadford, which has several restaurants, pubs and a supermarket, as well as art galleries, a pottery, other craft shops and lots more. Welcome to Sleepy Hollow Our house is situated in the beautiful village of Ardelve. We are a short walk from the delicious Manuelas bakery and just around the corner from the picturesque Eilean Donan Castle and the village of Dornie which has two great pubs and a local village shop.
A great base to explore the Isle of Skye, Lochalsh and Wester Ross.
  • The place is more than you can expect. Donna herself is also really nice and will tell you what see and what to do around the area. Definitely looking forward to going back.

  • Thanks for a lovely stay Donna

    Hannah2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • The best thing about Donna’s place is the location. You can see the amazing Lock Alsh from the Room’s window along with the famous Eilean Donan. As suggested by Donna we took an amazing walk nearby which was beautiful. The kitchen was well stocked with cookies, cereal, milk, eggs etc for breakfast. Donna is a really great host and we would love to come visit her again.

    Sumit2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Donna's place was gorgeous. While the weather not too friendly we had a lovely stay in this cosy and warm apartement! The only thing cold was the beverages our thoughtful host prepared for us! The apartment was super clean, just as described, we had our parking spot right next to the house. It is out of season now, so the local establishments were mostly closed, but that was no problem as we had access to microwave and kettle, could make our own food, and there is a tasty chinese take away nearby in case of emergencies! I am sure we will come back! :)

    Stephen2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Dinna's house is perfectly cozy and clean. The carpet is lovely, the style of furnitures and beddings is just my type!Love them and a lot of thanks to Donna for her warmth and friendliness! But!!Totally don't recommend tourists visit highland during the winter, for almost none of the shops, cafes, restaurants are open, even in the Skye.

    Molly2020-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • Sleepy Hollow is a cosy and extremely clean self catering accommodation. You have an ensuite shower room with toiletries supplied, if you've forgotten your own. Donna was a delightful and helpful host.

    Fiona2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Donna’s cosy snug at Sleepy Hollow is set in a fabulous location with views across the water to Eileen Castle. Her attention to detail left us wanting for nothing, she has thought of everything! The room is modern and spotlessly clean, lovely comfy bed, fully equipped kitchen, big screen Telly, and warm heating for those chilly evenings. Donna was super friendly, helpful and we left feeling we had made a lovely new friend. We really enjoyed our stay and would love to come back one day. Many Thank Donna!

  • Small but adequate and cozy, this lochside cottage is not only remarkable for its perfect waterfront location and a 15 minute drive to the Isle of Skye, but also for the hospitality and all the attention that its host Zoe carries to the smooth running of our stay, and in all discretion. Perfection. Be careful however long hair, the shower is really lacking pressure ... This is the price to pay for this site quite unique ;-)

We were not so lucky with the weather, however, sitting at the dining table and being able to watch the changing weather at the loch and mountains was terrific. Would love to come back sometimes. Yvonne's mother welcomed us warmly and checked inbetween if everything is ok. Clear recommendation!

  • A very nice stay close to the nature and with a reception of an extreme kindness on the part of the Mom of Yvonne, the close house of the loch offers a marvelous frame to leave to the discovery of the surroundings, to hike and to benefit from the calm. Imposing landscapes and small roads (very small) all often under the sun, a very beautiful week.

Music nights in the Plockton Inn where the traditional Scottish music is second to none The village also has a good choice of excellent restaurants for dining out. Plockton is truly the jewel in the highlands!
  • A diamond in the heart of Highland jewelry! This historic little house is very comfortable and Linda and Ian are charming and very attentive hosts. Note that Plockton is served by a magnificent train which allows a traveler without a car like me to easily travel around. Superb stay.

  • A lovely cosy cottage with everything we needed in an idyllic location. Ian and Linda’s thatched cottage is very welcoming and on arrival, Ian showed us around both the cottage and gardens. The kitchen is fully equipped and they kindly provided a goodie basket too. The sofa bed is easy to use, plus an electric fire provides warmth. Be sure to wander up to the Carn na Frith-aird Viewpoint - spectacular views!

    Emma2019-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed for three nights at Plockton Thatched Cottage in mid-September 2019. It is a perfect place for a couple to get away from the 'tourist feeling' and yet be able to easily visit Skye, Kilchurn Castle, Galashiel, etc. We truly enjoyed our stay here. Just a couple of quick notes, so other visitors are not surprised. These are not complaints. The double bed is a pull-out sofa, but it was comfortable. Linda stated that she had recently added a pillow top mattress cover. The kitchen was well equipped, but, as we discovered most other places during our 3-week tour of Scotland, the cooking pans are Teflon, known to be carcinogenic. Otherwise, all was great - very clean, plenty of hot water, easy to be 'green' with separate recycling bins out the back door, easy and scenic access to Kyle of Lochalsh and Skye, a nice downtown in which to stroll and hear local music. Ian and Linda were great hosts, were not at all pesky, and we got on well. Definitely recommend it and would stay again.

    Robert2019-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • It was so wonderful! Plockton is such an idyllic place right by the water and the small cottage is just charming. Ian and Linda are great, cordial hosts and have provided us with many tips. We felt really comfortable from the first minute on and are happy to discover this pretty place. We will definitely be back if we are in Scotland again. Thank you very much!

  • Myself and my wife wanted to have a last weekend away together before our wee boy arrives, all being well, and we couldn't have picked a more perfect place than the beautiful thatched cottage in Plockton. The Highland village of Plockton is our favourite place, we've visited many times but our few days in Ian and Linda's cottage were very special to us, the cottage is sparkling clean, so warm and cosy with all the comforts of home, we had the most relaxing time. The property is in a stunning location just two minutes walk from Harbour St. We could not recommend highly enough both the thatched cottage and Ian and Linda as the most warm and welcoming hosts. Perfect!

  • I can't praise this AirBnB enough. The hosts Jimmy and Caroline are friendly and always available but never intrusive. They even went as far as to invite me over for some whisky on my final night. The location is absolutely fantastic. So handy for Skye but also reasonable driving distance to Applecross, to Fort William and even over to Loch Ness. The view from the bedroom, bathroom and living room is stunning - you'll struggle to find a better unobstructed view from a holiday apartment anywhere in the country. The place is very clean and warm and has a well equipped kitchen with plenty of supplies and space meaning you can cook proper meals during your time there. All in all, a perfect stay and I would happily return again.

  • The Old Byre was a perfect place to stay to explore Skye as well as the surrounding mainland area. The place itself was very clean, cosy and exactly as pictured - we loved it! Thanks Karen :)

  • A very lovely and well thought through conversion. Very easy to find and excellent communication with Karen regarding exact location. The barn has everything you need to stay for a relaxing break, with the added benefit of being in a lovely rural location. Be warned, you'll be in a mobile 'black hole' which is awesome if you want to get fully disconnected from the wider world (don't worry, there's WiFi if you really need it) Honestly couldn't rate this place any more. The information that's available in form of leaflets and general information is exactly what you could ask for and there's even some local knowledge thrown in to boot.

  • Check in was very smooth. The space was comfy and cozy. Karen went the extra mile to make us feel the holiday cheer: she set up a Christmas tree in the cottage. This place was exactly what we needed to relax during Christmas after driving for 3 days. It had everything we needed to hunker-down for two days and just chill. There’s a Coop Supermarket 10 mins away where we bought a bunch of groceries for the stay. Only 10 mins from Eilean Donan Castle too! Thank you so much, Karen, for letting us stay in your lovely home.

  • Was a great location for exploring the local area and also the Isle of Skye. Karen was very quick at responding to messages and also gave us fresh towels after 2 days which was a nice touch. Would definitely stay here again.

  • Good location, easy to find. The place was nice, clean & cosy. You check in/out by using the keysafe, really handy if you arrive later in the day. Karen was great host, even though we met her only briefly. She was quick in responding to our messages.

  • Idyllic location, fantastic space, beautifully clean and comfortable. Mya is a lovely host and we found her home to have everything we needed for a brilliantly relaxing getaway (the log burner was a particular highlight). There are some great walks in the area, ranging from easy loch-side ambles to mountainous treks into the snow (in early March anyway) and we'll definitely be visiting again. Thanks Mya for a great stay!

  • This place is just wonderful. Its spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated, full of natural light and wonderful touches. Then add in the views out of the window - most days we couldn't stop just staring out at the loch, Ben Shieldaig and the trees. We spent 2 weeks here and loved every second. It's warm, cosy and completely comfortable. iPlayer and Netflix ready and waiting for any evenings in, and beautiful walks and drives out on the doorstep. Seals in the loch below and red deer and sea eagles to spot not far away. It far exceeded our expectations. Billy and Mya are two of the nicest people you could wish to meet too - answered any questions we had about local tips etc instantly, and even helpful when we bumped into them in the local! Thanks again both, we hope to be back very soon!

For dramatic sunrises over the sound of Sleat to the Scottish mainland right from your living room. The standard of accommodation is exceptional and the privacy of the location to be commented upon. The vaulted ceiling is a real pleasure, so when you wake from the upstairs bedroom you can walk out onto the mezzanine viewing area looking through the full height windows of the gable end of the house. Get cosy in front of the log fire in the downstairs living room, with sheep skin rugs and relax with your complimentary bottle of wine. Walk out into the garden and take in the air watching the wildlife and feeling a part of your surroundings. The View's electrical power is from a ground source heat pump, and has a series of solar panels that feed back to the grid so you know this was built with the environmental friendliness in mind. PLEASE NOTE: We don't accept children under 12 as the long garden to the View ends with a cliff to the sea. Caution is advised and warning signs are in place.
