Places to stay in Wanakena
Experience the beautiful Adirondacks in a rustic, yet cozy cabin. Dragonfly and River Rat are located on 9 private acres situated along the bank of the Oswegatchie River. There are only 3 cabins on the property, rent the 2 and bring the whole family or just rent 1 and still feel like your secluded. We stay in the 3rd cabin for the season. We can provide you with a personal experience to include family dinners, movie nights under the stars, arts & crafts, and even guided fishing trips.
Fishermans paradise, great getaway from life.
Get away from it all and sit back and relax. Great fishing spot and feel one with nature.
  • Jillian and Ray’s place was perfect for our quick visit to the area. We were sorry to not have been able to enjoy all the outdoor activities they offer due to time and weather. We hope to be able to stay again and take advantage of all they have to offer. It is a beautiful spot!

  • This cabin is about 30 minutes from St. Lawrence University. After seeing a whole group of people who were sleeping in trailers in the parking lot, I am so glad that we decided to stay a little out of town. My only regret is that we did not spend more time at the cabin as this is a beautiful location with lots of peaceful surroundings.

  • This is a beautiful & peaceful place! The location is off the beaten path, but close to town. I wish I had booked for a longer stay! My dog was also a big fan!

  • Jill and Ray went above and beyond in making our stay a memorial experience. The cozy cabin was stocked with every amenity you could imagine and there was so many fun activities on the property. We enjoyed kayaking, cooking outside, and enjoying drinks around a fire (in the ice cold mugs so thoughtfully awaiting us in the freezer). My dogs even had a great time running around with sweet and spunky Roxy. 5 stars isn’t enough for the relaxing get away Jill and Ray made possible for us. My only complaint is that we didn’t stay longer.

  • My boyfriend and I spent two nights at the dragonfly for our anniversary and loved our experience. We made a fire every night (firewood provided by hosts) and were able to explore the waterfalls nearby during the day. There’s a nice market right on the Main Street in town where we were able to get some food (yummy pizza and mozzarella sticks!) and supplies. On our last day we took the paddle boat out. The water outlet, the bathrooms, and the other cabins are just a short walk away from the dragonfly cabin. It was a relaxing few days and we loved every minute of it, the cabin is so cozy and has everything you’d need for a relaxing glamping experience.

  • I’m already yearning yo return to Dragonfly @ Rustic Cabins. Everything was fabulous ! Great cabin, comfortable bed, super hot strong shower. I loved the outside areas and the privacy. I especially loved the battered fish and horror movie on the full moon Friday 13th. I’ll be back 3 nights was way too short!

  • Jillian and Ray are wonderful hosts and it’s obvious that they love having people around on their property. The cabin is lovely and very clean, you get a lot of privacy while also having access to everything around. We would come back in a heartbeat.

  • Amazing stay at Jillian and Ray's. We particularly enjoyed the kayaks and the rowboat. Ray even lent us his fishing rods. The cottage is rustic but we did not miss anything. Jillian and Ray were very welcoming and the communication was fast and efficient. Impeccable cleanliness. Little magic moment: Sunday morning several species of birds came to feed just in front of the cottage. Hummingbird, woodpecker, tits. It was very pleasant to watch with a good coffee (provided by the hosts :)).

My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and families (with kids). Sleeps five comfortably. Great location in the heart of Wanakena. Walking distance to the town beach with boat launch to Oswegatchie River which feeds into Cranberry Lake. Close to Wanakena Ranger School, the Pine Cone Restaurant & Grill and the Cranberry Lake 50 trail.
Newly updated cottage, very clean. Open kitchen with microwave, new appliances and dining area. Screened-in porch, gas grill, washer and dryer, and off street parking for three vehicles. Master bedroom has an Adirondack king size bed and the second bedroom has a twin and bunk beds.
Wanakena is a quaint village nestled in the western part of the Adirondack Park. It's a great place to get away for peace and quiet from the hustle and bustle. Plenty of trails and water to explore via kayak or boat. It's important to note that there no longer is a general store in town, so we recommend guests bring supplies or plan to stop in nearby Star Lake for groceries and supplies.

  • We were looking for a place to ride snowmobiles from the house and this was perfect. The trail is 100' from the house. Enough parking for two trucks and trailers with room to spare. The listing is accurate and Amanda has thought of everything you may need. Fast WiFi, Roku TV, a phone charging station with all types of connectors, deer wandering through the back yard, awesome breakfast right down the road/trail at the Stone Manor, a great experience, this cabin was perfect for what we were looking for.

    Jim2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • This house is tucked away in a quiet neighborhood. It’s everything you could want for a long or short get away. Highly recommend booking with Amanda. I will absolutely come back!

  • Amanda’s place was perfect! Delightful find. Wonderful warm cabin in a winter wonderland. Spacious great room. Snacks, coffee and hot chocolate were a nice touch. WiFi worked perfectly and the cabin even has a charging station! Well equipped kitchen. My only regret is that we could only stay one night! A great find in the Adirondacks. We’ll be back for a longer stay sometime!

  • June and Justin went above and beyond to make our stay the best that it could be! Their place is sparkling clean and we had everything we needed to cook a nice dinner. The little snacks and water were so thoughtful, and they have ample knowledge of the area and gave us great advice for restaurants and things to do. They are wonderful hosts!

  • Ms June is a wonderful hostess. Extra little touches like complimentary snacks & waters were above and beyond our expectations. We couldn’t have been happier with our stay and will be back again. 5-stars isn’t enough. Need six stars for this stay. The house was immaculate, warm and quite cozy. Do not hesitate to book!!

Trout Lake cottage description: This comfortable, rustic, family Adirondack cottage offers spectacular views of one of NY State's most scenic lakes. Great fishing, canoeing, rowing, and swimming. Enjoy the main dock area with ladder allowing for easy lake access for swimming, boating, and sunbathing. A beautiful deck overlooking the lake with table and chairs is great for morning coffee or your relaxing dinners taking in the "Island View".
Come experience the solace and peace of this lake. Guests have said, ''we have never felt more relaxed and rejuvenated from a vacation before!' 'The lake is extremely clean and the fishing is awesome! Love the views from the deck overlooking the lake!' 'Can't wait to come back next year! This is going to be an annual event for our family!' A canoe, paddle boat and john boat with oars and a motor are available to tool around the lake.
Since 1/3 of the lake is state land it is very quiet and peaceful. The lake is speckled with small islands that are fun to canoe around and take in their beauty.
  • Molly's place is a a great getaway. It's right along the lake, as the pictures show, and we had a great time. The house is old so be there are minor annoyances like not being able use the tap water for brushing but the location makes up for it. This is a great place if you are looking for a quiet getaway, far from the hustle bustle.

    Adwait2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • This place is tons of fun. We didn’t try all the boats, but had a great time with the canoe and paddle boat. The decks and screened in porch were beautiful for meals. Make sure to read all Molly’s instructions as this listing is not for those seeking a luxury vacation. This is a quaint cottage experience with everything you need in a lakeside retreat! Fire pit, grill, welcoming lake community, and easy access to Thousand Islands area, Alexandria Bay, Watertown, and Saranac Lake. We’d stay here again.

Picturesque 2-bedroom cottage located in Wanakena, a small village surrounded by forest preserve on the western arm of Cranberry Lake. Swimming, boating, hiking right out the door. Screen porch overlooks your own dock and the village. ****Min. 1 week reservation running Sun-Sun only****
Our vintage guest cottage has a village and wilderness location on the western arm of Cranberry Lake where the Oswegatchie River flows into the lake. Located on a point across from the historic village of Wanakena, it is a visual favorite for visitors touring the village on shore or by boat. From spring ephemerals through the summer high season to autumn color, this secluded village is an attractive location for your Adirondack vacation. The comfortable 2 bedroom cottage sleeps 4, with two additional daybeds. It has one full bath, a cozy living room, and a very nicely equipped kitchen with dining area. WiFi, washer and dryer. The ample waterfront sitting porch has views down to the dock and across the flow to a wooded shoreline and the village. Great for small group or family vacations. Four kayaks and a canoe available for guest use.
The village of Wanakena is located inside the Adirondack Park on the northwest slope of the mountains near State Route 3 about 1 1/2 hours east of Watertown NY, and 1 hour west of the Saranac Lakes. The 1 mile access road off Rt. 3 provides seclusion and separation from road noise. The village was founded as a logging center in 1902, and has maintained its turn of the century character. There is a sense of community among the seasonal and full-time residents fostered by 'Otto's Abode,' a community space in the center of the village, the rustic restaurant, post office, church, summer concert series, and other community events. Walking access to the village center is provided by the historic footbridge a short walk from the Cottage. The village dock and beach are right across the Flow. Four trailheads within a brief walk of the cottage provide access to the Five Ponds Wilderness, the largest contiguous wilderness area in the eastern US. A description of the Cranberry Lake Region including the Five Ponds trail system can be found on the following websites (replace * with . ) cranberrylake50*org www*dec*ny*gov/lands/34719*html www*dec*ny*gov/lands/34715*html These trails provide opportunities for short hikes of a few miles, longer day hikes, and multiday hiking-camping. Many of them have destinations overlooking wild lake shoreline, and the upper Oswegatchie River. Wanakena’s location on the western flow provides boat access to Cranberry Lake, one of the largest of the remote Adirondack lakes with its 55 miles of shoreline, about 85 percent of which is forest preserve. Along this wild shoreline is an extensive series of boat-access campsites, and trailheads leading into the wilderness. The NYS Ranger School, located down the Wanakena Flow a mile away, has an extensive system of forest roads and trails good for walking and biking. A trailhead provides access to the Peavine Creek trail system, another opportunity for hiking and more technical mountain biking. A short drive from Wanakena takes you to a launch point on the Oswegatchie River above the village, from where you can paddle upstream (no motor boats!) more than 15 miles as the river makes serpentine turns through marshlands and forested shoreline. Campsites provide opportunity for an overnight stay. Town resources: The village of Star Lake 6 miles away has a convenience store with some food, a bank, a gas station, several restaurants, a pharmacy, a small but well equipped medical clinic/hospital, and a builders supply. The village of Cranberry Lake 8 miles away has gas and groceries at the general store, and a cafe for breakfast/lunch.
  • This lovely cottage is perfectly situated on the water in Wanakena and made for an excellent first visit to the Adirondacks. The cottage is very comfortable and the enclosed front porch was our favorite spot to relax after full days of hiking, kayaking and swimming. There is so much to do in the area and Elaine and David provided helpful tips and advice for enjoying the best outings. They are great hosts and easy to communicate with. We kayaked out to Joe Indian Island and camped overnight. But the best paddling was from Inlet to High Rock along the winding bends of the Oswegatchie River. We'd stay here again in a heartbeat!

    Cindy2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is in an absolutely beautiful setting and couldn't be homier. David and Elaine were present and available, but not intrusive. One thing to remember, though, as I didn't realize how much a relied on phone service, is that although the cottage has wifi, in the area around Wanakena, there is no cell service (at least not with AT&T). So you have to plan ahead a little when you go out for hikes, etc. I highly recommend staying here.

    Peter2016-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • David and Elaine's little cottage by the water is a wonderful getaway from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Our stay exceeded expectations! Wanakena is a picturesque quiet little community. David and Elaine made us feel completely welcome, as did the other locals. Great swimming right off the font dock and ample canoes and kayaks to explore the area. Also amazing hikes just down the road through pristine forest. My six year old son had fun exploring the small town at night by flashlight on "toad patrol." There is also a great public beach for younger children at Cranberry Lake, just ten minutes away (with amazing food and ice-cream just across the street). Definitely also visit the Wild Center in nearby Tupper Lake. The cottage is simply.....beautiful. They have done a lot to preserve the character of this 100 year old cottage, but it is also updated enough to be very comfortable. Lovely original floors and ceilings and phenomenal enclosed open view of the water from the front porch. Lots of cross-ventilation, it never felt stuffy. It has a very open feeling to it, especially in the living room and kitchen. We had a full house, yet were very, very comfortable. Excellent kitchen stocked with whatever you may need. Elaine even was kind enough to even bring us produce from her garden. We didn't want to leave! We look forward to coming back again.

    Kevin T.2016-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • We (me, my husband, our 3 year old and 9 month old) had such a wonderful time at the cottage. Elaine and David were very helpful during our stay and even let us borrow a baby pool, pool toys, and toddler/infant life jackets. The house was in waking distance to a playground, hiking trails, and the town center. Our 3 year old really enjoyed taking the kayak across the flow to the town beach and swimming even right off the dock ( with a life jacket). During nap time my husband or I were able to sneak out for a kayak ride or hike or just relax on the screened in porch overlooking the beautiful water. We had daily ice cream at the cranberry lake manor and loved the wild center in Tupper Lake. We also really loved Coffe Fever in Star Lake. They have an amazing children's play room upstairs. The cottage is beautiful, clean, and perfect for a family. We will definitely be back!

    Bridget2016-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • It was a great week! The cottage was wonderful and just what we were looking for! It was truly a home away from home. The living room was great when the temperature drew us inside, but the porch was by far our favorite hang out spot! Elaine & David were great! From creating our customize welcome information packet (great idea!), to being there to answer our questions, we could not have asked for better hosts! The beautiful river was just outside our back porch door. It was an east swim across to the village beach & dock. We had unlimited access to (4) kayaks and used them every day. We would certainly book this cottage again!

    Jeffrey2016-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • Very welcoming, warm and cozy cottage. We loved it!

    Lori2015-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great little cottage only a 5 minute walk from the Wanakena General Store. It was exactly as advertised in the photos and description. It's a lovely area and Elaine and David were friendly and very helpful. They made sure that we knew the best places to eat and the best hiking trails in the area and even left some muffins for us on the first day. We would definitely stay here again!

    Patrick2015-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • When we discovered this warm-hearted cottage last summer, we made the rental our go-to away-from-home refuge and piled up a few months of lovely Adirondack memories. Quintessential Adirondacks without touristy hype. Wanakena is a small, serene village. Grey Cottage, fixed up by old family friends, has old-school woodsy charm. From Inuit art on the walls to cozy wicker and pillows on the porch with views of Cranberry Lake, sunsets and mist rising from the water in the morning. The house, built during the Adirondack era of lumbering, has vintage wood paneling that even covers the ceilings. Porcelain bathtub is the deep, soaking kind. I came here to work on a writing project and to hang out with the family that includes two teenage boys who fished, swam and hiked around taking pictures. I went for runs along forest-shaded hiking trails that wind through bogs and streams. The general store and post office is a five-minute walk away for ice cream, blueberries for pancakes, maple syrup and balsam pillow souvenirs. The house is right on the lake edge. Water is clear and cool and makes for smooth swimming, day and night. The living room has a great flat screen for movie watching. Kitchen is so well equipped I baked muffins for breakfast, made chocolate chip cookies, guacamole and grilled chicken and hamburger dinners. The front porch, our favorite reading spot, has a good table for puzzles and another by the couch where we played Risk on rainy days. The stone dock, steps away, is perfect for sitting with a cup of coffee in the morning and watching that mist rise in wisps from the flat dawn water. The place comes with kayaks for paddling around the lake. We went out to the nearby shallow water and farther to the dock at the Pine Cone restaurant where the burgers are big and the fish fry good and crisp. Go farther, beyond the cottage-dotted shores of the wider lake, over to the narrow neck with rope swing where the boys had a blast splashing into the water. On the other side of the narrows there’s a ranger school and wilderness with spots for pulling in at a wooded beach and tying up at a dock for a hike to see a giant old tree. At night, there’s no light pollution obscuring the stars. We took long walks, roasted marshmallows at the fire pit and thought about coming back again.

Experience the unspoiled beauty of the north country while cottaging casual style on pristine Trout Lake. You can fish, swim, kayak, or just hang out on the extensive decks or screened-in porch. This three-bedroom cottage is perfect for relaxed lakeside living. And you really can hear the Loon's song.
This is what cottaging in the North Country was like in the 80's. We do have Internet now, but most everything else is as it was (sorry, no granite countertops). It's casual; it's fun, but it is not luxury vacationing.
  • This cabin is located really far off the beaten path, but the distance is absolutely worth the stay. The views on the lake: breathtaking at dawn! The cozy feel and features make you feel like you are "roughing it" but not terribly so, and thankfully it doesn't swing the other extreme to "glamping". Here you can commune comfortably with nature and still enjoy a cup of coffee and an eazy chair while reading a book or tossing your fishing line into the pristine waters. Charles is a great host who gives detailed instructions on how to use the amenities; everything works like a champ, but maybe not all at the same time lol. 5 Stars!

    Nick2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • A cozy stay on beautiful Trout Lake! The view of the beautiful lake from the charming screened-in deck was spectacular to wake up to every morning. This place is very spacious, was clean upon arrival and you simply cannot beat the quiet, serene location! We will certainly be back again next year! Thank you Charles!

  • Perfect spot to relax and unwind. This location and home is the ideal place if you are looking to disconnect from the your busy everyday life and reconnect with family, yourself, nature. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The screened in porch is huge and we ate all of our meals out there. The place was spotless and Charles was a great host. We hope we are able to come back again next year.

  • This was our second year at Charles' cottage. We loved it! It is a quiet relaxing place situated right on the lake. The cottage is a great size with everything you need. The use of the paddle boat and kayaks was a big hit for the kids. The fishing was great on the lake as well. The cottage is the perfect place for relaxation and being able to unwind. I highly recommend the cottage and Charles has a great place!!

  • Cute, homey, close to the water, lots of little unexpected amenities!

    Rebecca2019-06-14T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great vacation spot, especially for families. The lake is pristine and the sandbar makes it unique. The availability of kayaks, canoes, toys and floats makes the experience that much more enjoyable. The house is clean and laid out well with lots of outdoor space to enjoy, not just the lake. Perfect spot and great host!

  • Star Lake is magical - friendly neighbors, lots of lake fun and more stars than you can imagine. Staying at Ben’s was such a lovely weekend. There are 3 bedrooms plus a screened in porch with another bed on the top floor. My friend and I stayed here with 4 kids between us and we were very comfortable. There’s a basic grocery store up the road as well as a gas station and lots of farm stands. Beautiful hikes nearby and lazy lake days - the perfect getaway. There’s an awesome outdoor shower and a fire pit for roasting marshmallows.

  • Was a wonderful stay at this cabin. Cozy and comfortable. Had some board games to play and some DVDs to put on if needed, but the wifi connection was good enough to watch shows or movies via the internet. The heating was great and no issues with any plumbing either. All in all not much to complain about! Would recommend. The host, Erin also was very helpful with local tips and provided a very thorough guide. Erin (& family) even left some delicious zucchini bread for us, which was so thoughtful! :) Would definitely come again if I ever find myself back in the area for a short trip!

  • This home is absolutely gorgeous! It’s beautifully furnished, tastefully decorated, equipped with modern appliances and is sparkling clean. Everything about it is warm, welcoming and convenient. My husband and I cooked a few meals, and the kitchen is well-stocked and easy to use. We enjoyed cozying up on the couch in front of the fireplace, which was prepped and ready to light. There were so many thoughtful details, from the binder stocked with current, local brochures, to the basket of spare toiletries should we have forgotten anything. Paul was quick with his responses and very accommodating. It was a fantastic stay!

    Jessica2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • We highly recommend saying here. The camp is very clean! The hosts are very accommodating and they make your stay easy and enjoyable with all the amenities. Being able to use the wood stove is warming and cozy. It's like a home away from home.

  • Absolutely recommend staying in Camp Tucked Away. The moment we walked into the cabin it smelled delicious. It was very clean and well organized. Paul and Amy are great hosts and very responsive. They provided us with the essentials such as toothbrush, paste, soap, tea, coffee, chocolate, etc and I found that to be very thoughtful. It was my first time staying in an airbnb and this experience was wonderful. Paul also provided a guidebook as to where to go and what to do around town. The cabin is as gorgeous as you see in the photos. Highly recommend staying here. Enjoy!

Three Bedroom rustic camp in the Adirondacks. If your desire is to get away from it all, here is your heart's desire. Sucker Lake is a very quiet lake near the hamlet of Oswegatchie. Kick back and relax or get out and explore. From the front door just a brisk walk to the right will head to public lake access. Enjoy the serenity of the Adirondacks, no hubbub here, only 7 miles to Star Lake, 37 to Cranberry and 46 to Tupper
(Please note that the 48% monthly discount or discount of 28 days or more, excludes the months of June, July and August. Please bear that in mind when booking. Thanks.) Upon entering is the screened in porch, which is nice for let's be real, with the Adirondacks come bugs and retreating to the porch could be a relief at times. Kitchen- contains a microwave, coffee pot, toaster, pots and pans and dishes....and of course, stove and slim sized (10.1 cu. ft.) refrigerator with a smallish sized freezer. There is a round kitchen table that seats 2, but could accommodate 4. A larger table in the living area is available. Some cooking essentials are provided: oil, sugar, flour, salt, pepper, coffee, and some spices. Water: Well water, we have jugs of water available, but bring some drinking water. Otherwise water is fine for showering and brushing teeth. Pantry: There are paper products and food packaging essentials in the pantry. Whatever is there is free for you to use: Saran wrap, baggies, aluminum foil, etc. Towels: Plenty of towels and wash cloths are available. Bedrooms: Two queens and one double, each with linens, pillows and blankets. Also each bedroom has a dresser and some sort of hanging apparatus for clothes. No closets. Living area: Contains a dining room table that seats 6, a small desk area and the couch, sofa, tv and air conditioner. The tv is hooked up to a DVD player, so an occasional movie could be enjoyed or board games. Wi-Fi doesn't come to our area of Sucker Lake as we are rather remote. Internet can be accessed through your own plan, though it can be rather spotty in the house. It does seem to work outside fine. Bunk House and Shed: These areas are off limits this season. Firepit area: There is a large firepit great for enjoy evening fires. Remember to pick up some camp wood on the way in. There are also 3 Adirondack chairs and a long rustic bench. A charcoal grill is available in the screened in porch area. Only electric motors are allowed on Sucker Lake. Feel free to bring kayaks or canoes. There is a public access area to the lake (to the right) less than 1/4 mile down the road . We have a rowboat and set of oars available, however getting it to the public lake access could be a chore unless you have a truck. It's a short distance to walk, but a long distance to carry a boat. The best scenario would be if you had your own kayaks or canoes. Fishing: only electric motors allowed on lake. Fish species found: Smallmouth Bass, Largemouth Bass, White Sucker, Rock Bass, Pumpkinseed Largemouth bass are the predominant predator in Sucker Lake. Fish up to 18" have been caught, which is pretty good for a small high elevation pond. Smallmouth bass are present but in much lower numbers. Historically this was a brook trout pond and local anglers still report an occasional trout coming out of the "spring hole." Sucker Lake encompasses 89 acres. It is very shallow upon entering. For that reason flat bottom boats are more common, easier to maneuver out of the shallows. It is probably not the best for swimming, but can still surely be taken advantage of. The bottom of the lake is a little muddy with sticks and stones....sticks because it is surrounded by trees, rather marshy along the shoreline (especially the public access area.) The lake is 10 feet deep at deepest point. Average depth is 6 ft. deep.
There are several cottages along one small section of the lake in our area. We have only been there a short time, but all seems very quiet. Please respect our neighbors' privacy across the street from us. This area is their private land and the lakefront is not accessible from there. There is a public boat launch a short ways from our cottage to the right. You may launch a canoe or other vessel from there. The water might be a little marshy at the beginning for swimming, but people do swim in the lake.
  • Comfy, rustic cabin in a beautiful woodsy setting.

  • Very nice, better in person. All 3 bedrooms are equally nice and comfortable. Although if you NEED CONSTANT phone or Internet, T-Mobile was horrible in that area! BUT this was a blessing in retrospect for me. Great fire pit outside, great location and great touches inside with DVD movies, books and games! Very clean and relaxing.

  • Just got back from our stay at Treetop, and it was a wonderful time. As an intergenerational group, we really appreciated having two bedrooms on the first floor for our older family members, and plenty of bathrooms for all! The clawfoot bathtubs were a real treat. The kitchen was well-equipped with anything you might needs, and the dining room table had plenty of space for the seven of us. The community of Star Lake was warm and friendly, and the lake itself is perfect for swimming and kayaking. Great place to relax and unplug!

    Kristen2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic vacation and loved the location to the sand bar. So happy we found this beautiful house last minute and Carol was amazing about being so responsive with such short notice!

  • Great place to stay at Star Lake, it has a great sandy beach for children along with an dock for jumping into the lake. The house is very nice , extremely well kept. Each room with its own private bathroom is awesome. We highly recommend this house as a great family vacation!!

    Maribeth2019-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • My family and I had an absolutely wonderful time at Treetop. There was a plentiful amount of canoes, kayaks, floaties, etc. The clean and beautiful house was formerly part of an inn so each bedroom had character and was quaint with its own bathroom. Some of the doors still had room numbers on them. There was plenty of board games. My husband and I enjoyed evenings on the screened porch off of the master bedroom. The house does not face the lake but it was not a problem for us. It was a short trip to the lake. There is a fairly large area to hang out in around the fire pit. We made a lot of memories this past week. There was also a grill and outdoor picnic table. The lake was incredibly beautiful and the house sits in a small bay. We are a family of six and the house was large. We never ever felt cramped. The house was very clean and everything worked. We would rent again.

    Rebekah2018-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Loved the Adirondack charm and the many bathrooms. We have three children and it was a great place to stay for the week without being to cramped. Great place! I would stay here again!

    Ben2018-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Overall, our stay at Treetop Lakehouse was great. Our trip included my Dad’s funeral, so our stay was about celebrating his life and love of Star Lake - which we did quite wonderfully. My Dad actually worked at the Star Lake Inn when he was a teen. We learned that Treetop was an overflow for the inn and that made our stay even more special. The cottage location was a short walk to village amenities and parking was easy. Treetop was comfortable, VERY clean and well equipped. There are new blankets, pillows and mattress covers provided for all four full size beds. Additionally, the kitchen has recent updates including coffee maker, toaster, pot/pans/bakeware and more. A gas grill is included. We very much enjoyed our stay at Treetop Lakehouse. Thank you for sharing your family cottage with us. Cons: Only one shower/clawfoot tub combination; front porch overlooks a busy business; no lake views from cottage; dock/beach is shared with another cottage; no motorized raft; no wifi.

A quiet, sweet house right on Star Lake, the gem of the Adirondacks. Private dock and stone patio, fireplace, full amenities, 3 bedrooms, 2 full baths. Did we say lakefront already? Ten feet away from the front door.
Located on a 40+ acre private wooded point of land over a quarter mile from the main road, the Stone House sets into the side of a hill directly on pristine Star Lake. This is a tranquil spot where you can relax and get away from it all. The Stone House property features a private dock with a tied-on floating dock, a fireplace, a car park, a terrace, and a private garage. The Stone House sleeps seven, has two full baths, a complete kitchen, living room with a large window seat and warming stone fireplace (stocked from a private wood shed just outside the house), and a private, covered terrace overlooking the lake. Enjoy the quiet, the ducks, the loons, the smell of a good fire. Kayaking & canoeing on Star Lake & Oswegatchie River; local hiking too. Email us for a brochure with more details.
While there are a few other houses on the point, the Stone House is secluded. You can interact as much or as little as you want. They leave you alone.
  • Place is exactly as advertised. Peaceful and secluded, this was the perfect getaway to disconnect from society. Rich was extremely easy to work with. Kayaks and paddle board were a blast.

    Nate2019-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely time at the Stone House over Labor Day weekend. We spent our days kayaking, cooking, relaxing and enjoying the scenery and wildlife (herons, loons, mergansers and a cormorant.) The house is well built, designed to fully utilize the space with little cubbies and storage and built ins throughout. It's rustic, a true ADK lake house, but with all the amenities you would need. The pictures accurately depict the spaces. There aren't pictures of the bathrooms but they are perfectly adequate. I especially loved the bathroom off of the twin room--super clawfoot tub! We had both sunny and rainy days during our stay and the house allowed us to enjoy both types of weather. Dock, kayaks and terrace for sunny days--porch with comfy beds for reading, and lower level game table, window seat and fireplace for rainy days. There are 2 bedrooms on the upper level--each with an attached bathroom. The sleeping porch--which can be accessed from either of these bedrooms--is lovely. I do think it's important to note that the sleeping porch counts as the 3rd bedroom and in order to exit the porch to get downstairs and/or to the bathroom, you must go through one of the 2 bedrooms. This was not an issue for us at all but it could be if you had 3 separate couples. We will be back to the Stone House, I'm certain.

    Krista2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved the house. This is the second time we came here because we couldn’t get enough of the views. It’s right on the lake.

    Volodymyr2019-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • This gorgeous little place was awesome! It was right on the water, the views were incredible. Loons visited us all day, it was so relaxing to sit outside under the shade of the house, and just enjoy the sights. The house was fully stocked so we felt right at home. I hope to return someday soon!

  • Great place to get away. My wife and I spent a few days at the stone house for our honeymoon in October and had a great time. The view of the sunrise was outstanding. Rich was very hospitable and very responsive.

We are 45 min to St Lawrence University, 55 min to Potsdam. 2 Kayaks, many lawn games, and wide trails through woods for hiking/jogging. Grill, covered outdoor tables and seating, and a campfire ring with firewood provided are great for family gatherings.
Sylvia lake is a quiet, very clean lake. Our place has a very large fenced in yard and room for a lot of people. The surrounding woods are lovely. Although you will pass a zinc mine, they make no noise and you will never notice they are nearby.

130 Ft of shallow waterfront! Located in the Adirondacks, Star Lake has the unpretentious attitude of summer living. Fish off the dock, sip a drink from the deck, hike, swim, boat- relaxation in it's finest. Take the whole family!
Small chalet is cozy with a wood burning stove, but has lots of space outside to play. Everyone has a spot to rest their head after a full day outside in the fresh air, and a big kitchen and table for family meals!
Star Lake is a beautiful community with a small store, gas station, veterinary, hospital, pharmacy, bank, school.
  • Stayed at jenny’s House for 5 nights/ 6days and it was outstanding, everything we hoped for and more. We loved being able to walk out the front door to the beach with the kids everyday and being able to use the kayaks and canoe was a fantastic bonus. The view is amazing, the pictures do not do it justice. We had breakfast/coffee and dinner out on the porch everyday and soaked in the view as much as possible. And Jenny was a terrific host, very accommodating and quick to respond to any questions. It was an amazing week and I hope we can return next year!

  • Turtle Bay Chalet was more then we had expected. We had an amazing time with family & friends. The beach was perfect for the kids, and the deck over looking the lake was great for morning coffee. We will definitely be back again :)

  • Really enjoyed the place! Our second time staying there

    Ben2018-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay in Jenny's cottage exceeded expectations. Although as described, it was more comfortable and beautifully situated than we could have hoped for. Though late in the season, the weather was perfect and the foliage beautiful. The location of Jenny's home on the lake provides a picturesque view of Star Lake. The availability of a canoe and kayaks allowed for lovely evening tours of this beautiful area. The relaxation we experienced both on the water, on the deck and in the comfortable cabin was much needed and much appreciated. We hiked every day on NYS trails near Wanakena. We are no longer mountain climbers, but found the trails to be just the immersion in the outdoors that we needed. The companionship of our two dogs enhanced the experience, both lakeside and in the woods. We were grateful that they could be with us and that they, too, had a true vacation experience from their city lives. I would highly recommend this rental and, even more so, would recommend Jenny as the ideal host.

  • Had a great experience working with Jenny-she responded to a million questions from me quickly and with accuracy and the property managers met all of our needs during the actual stay. LOVED this place-perfect for our family with young kids. The pictures don't do it justice-beautiful shore line and shallow swimming lake front, spacious kitchen and rooms. The cabin house has more room than I expected but we didn't need to use it. The shower is great overlooking the lake. Beds were comfy and house was very clean. Fans in the bedrooms and living room and the lake breeze kept the house a comfortable temp. We ate dinner inside and out and both were very enjoyable with views of the lake and afternoon sun and sunsets. The grill was great with propane provided. The canoe, kayaks, and paddle boat were great and there were a ton of life jackets for all of us. We had 6 adults and 5 young/infant children (3.5, 2.5, 2, 10mth, 5 mth)and there were outdoor sand toys, gates, a pack-n-play, puzzles, indoor games, play dough, crayons, and a complete dress up drawer for little girls. The playset was great to keep the kids occupied too! I had no concerns with the young kids by the water and dock as it was shallow and so safe. We enjoyed bonfires at night with the wood provided. We canoed over to the sand bar where you can get out and hang out in the shallow water and also enjoyed jumping off the floating dock. Would recommend bringing a motor so you can take the dock out on the lake! Great fishing for kids off the dock-can catch something with every cast! Grocery store and gas station are very close and its a nice 4 miles around the lake if you enjoy running. Were referred to Lampson falls and Rainbow falls for easy hikes to waterfalls and also hiked Bear mtn at Cranberry Lake state park with a beautiful view of that lake. Love this area and loved the home and lake!

  • Spent a wonderful two weeks kayaking on and looking at the lake, loved the time there more than I hoped! House and furnishings were comfortable, kitchen had necessary basics, good wifi, and you simply cannot beat the views or peacefulness of gliding around the lake.

    Scott2016-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • This was a nice place. It had three bedrooms, one with a queen size bed, one with a full size bed, and another with a bunk bed (full/queen on bottom, twin on top). There was also a futon in the living room that folded down into a bed, plus a full-sized couch. The kitchen was well-stocked with all of the necessary utensils. The apartment was clean. We did not take advantage much of the beautiful lake setting, but this would be very nice in the summer. There was no problem checking in and out when we liked. The wifi was fast. Heat and hot water worked great. Good communication from the host.

Beautiful boathouse on the water with a separate bunkhouse with bathroom located on picturesque Lake Bonaparte on the foothills of the Adirondacks. We have a tandem kayak for use just bring your life jackets. A new Keurig to make your morning coffee to sit on the front porch and enjoy the loons. We have all new mattresses throughout, a new grill and bathroom towels are provided. There is a boat slip available on the side of the boathouse. Lake Bonaparte is 40 min from Watertown.
There is a family restaurant on the lake within 5 miles by land or a quick boat ride.
  • This was a perfect weekend get away!! We absolutely loved The Boathouse; perfect accommodations, so many nice homey touches and amazing views. My early mornings were spent sitting on the porch over the water, sipping my coffee, watching the sunrise and listening to the loons. Seriously, this was a little piece of Heaven. Lisa was THE best host I've encounter!!! We will be back!!

    Patty2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Just the right place to relax. Even though there are a lot of camps nearby, the neighborhood is very quiet. Coffee at anytime day or night on the deck is great. Especially with the moon rising over the water. Our second visit this year and will be back next year!!

  • Lisa’s cottage was absolutely flawless!! Lia greeted us upon arrival with a bottle of wine and a plate of cookies that were incredible. She showed us around the property and then let us be to enjoy the absolute beauty of lake Bonaparte. She had also let us use her kayak for the weekend to explore the lake and fish. I suggest bringing all your food and necessities with you because you are not going to want to leave this place for anything!! The only time we left was to take a quick trip around to the east side of the lake to a bar/restaurant called the Bonaparte’s retreat which she recommended. Some of the nicest people you could meet and the black Betty wings were outstanding!!

Relax and take a digital detox in one of the oldest camps in the Adirondacks. Built in the late 1800's Camp Killoquah is the perfect place to put on a record and relax as all the cares of the world drift away in this historic property. Wake up to the sound of the loons and epic sunsets on a semi-private lake in the heart of the mountains. With 9 bedrooms, 16 beds, secluded lakefront, swimming dock, 2 living rooms, and large kitchen this wilderness retreat will create lifetime memories.
The place is accessible via boat only. You must have your own boat or rent a boat from town to get to the property. Camp Killoquah is a large lakefront camp for rent on Forked Lake, the most beautiful lake in the Adirondacks (northern New York State). The property has a long and storied past you need to live to experience. Pictures can hardly do justice to this stunning property, which is available for rent by the week, sleeping up to 20 people at once. The memories will last forever. The house has a large kitchen and dining area, a private dock on the lake, a piano, and 9 bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms. It can host everything from a romantic getaway to a large family gathering. The property is one of only two developed camps situated on Forked Lake and is a paradise in the woods. The house and dock face west towards dazzling sunsets. Guests will be required to sign an additional rental agreement prior to booking. If you do not own a boat. Long Lake has boat rental companies that you can rent a boat for the duration of your stay.
You are on a semi-private lake with the closest neighbor about a half mile away. On a busy day we see about 5 boats a day.
  • Camp Kiloquah is truly a dream in the heart of the Adirondacks! We had a group of 13, and were pleasantly surprised not only by the amazing old house and wonderful amenities, but mostly by how beautiful, serene and peaceful the property and lake are. Coming from New York City, we also appreciated that it was a complete digital detox - no WiFi and no cell service – just sweet time together in nature. We loved that the property is only accessible by boat, and had fun exploring the lake on the pontoon we rented. Margaret is incredible to work with and quick to respond to requests - we also had the opportunity to meet her mom who met us at the house making check-in seamless and easy. She showed us wonderful hospitality and even left us some treats and wine from the area. I highly recommend this airbnb - it was a wonderful vacation!

Cranberry Lake is nestled at the top of the Adirondack Park with public launch. The lake house has a large front patio overlooking the water, with a dock for swimming, boating, and fishing. Winter snowmobiling and skiing local area.
  • Charlie’s place was perfect for our family vacation to Cranberry Lake. The property was clean when we arrived and we took plenty advantage of the dock, fire pit, kayaks, and deck overlooking the lake. Charlie was quick to answer any questions. Highly recommend!!

  • A rustic cabin in the woods with a beautiful view of Cranberry Lake. We enjoyed views of the lake from the kitchen, dining and living areas. The entire house was clean and inviting. We found just about everything we needed to cook with in the kitchen. With the warm weather it was nice to be able to open the windows to let a breeze in, and most windows had screens on them. We were only there a few days, but it was a nice escape. There are steps from the back deck down to a small dock from which you can jump in for a swim. At dusk, be ready for the mosquitoes if you’re outdoors, this place is truly nestled in the woods! Charlie is a great host, who was super friendly and quick to reply to our messages. Big enough for a family or someone with a lot of friends!

    Barbie2019-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • Charlie's place is a wonderful place to relax and escape the everyday hectic everyday life. He was great with communicating with me and met all of our needs. This pictures do not give the place justice. It is way bigger than expected. Rooms are clean, bathroom are great and deck is huge. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you would need. It really was a great place to relax at. Tupper Lake golf course was a short drive and the fishing was excellent. Do not hesitate to rent his place. We will be back next year!!!

    Ben2019-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • Charlie's cabin on Cranberry Lake was perfect—we've never been more delighted at reality vs. photos :) We visited the cabin for 4 days in August, two families with young children (ages 2 & 3). The set-up was exactly what we were looking for - each family could easily have their own floor and bathroom, with plenty of shared common space for playing games, eating big delicious meals (with a kitchen that was easy to prep and cook food in), and a big porch with a picnic table looking right out over the lake. The kids loved floating and splashing around in the lake, and we all loved taking the kayaks out. We also loved roasting smores in the firepit in the yard. Cranberry Lake has a few, small hikes that are great for all ages, the lake was gorgeous and serene, and the grown ups loved sitting up and chatting after the kids had gone to bed watching the moon rise over the water. Highly recommend!

  • Cranberry Lake is HUGE and beautiful. We love staying at Charlie's place. It is cabin cozy but there is plenty of room for 6-7 adults. The stairs down to the dock are a little slippery and steep for a child, so I would encourage parents to be with them should then go down.

Perched on a point with some of the best views of Cranberry Lake, a forever wild Adirondack treasure, and 3rd largest lake in the park. Great fishing, swimming, hiking and camping. 3 kayaks and a canoe are available for enjoying the lake as well as a lovely dock for sitting out and enjoying the views or swimming off of. A beautiful spot to unwind and enjoy wonderful Cranberry Lake.
  • Great getaway! Lisa and Joe’s place is an amazing secluded home to relax and enjoy the incredible lake and mountain views. We were surprised at how few boats were on Cranberry Lake - it was much more peaceful than we ever imagined. Kayaking just a short distance puts you away from any houses and into some beautiful scenery. We loved swimming and fishing off the dock as well as taking in some nearby hikes. Joe and Lisa were great hosts and we’re so grateful to have been able to stay at their wonderful place!

  • This Cranberry Lake home is a wonderful property. From the location, to the views, to the amenities provided and most of all the wonderful hosts Lisa and Joe, you will not be disappointed. We had a family reunion there for a week in July and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We have already started planning out a return trip.

    Greg2019-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • We spent a dreamy week at Lisa and Joe’s cabin. There was a nice bottle of champagne waiting for us in the fridge. The kids loved jumping off the dock; I think we spent 6/7 days sitting on the dock or deck and watching the kids play in the water. I truly enjoyed napping in the afternoons. I haven’t napped like that in years! Lol. You can’t see any neighbors from the house but the one neighbor Becky is the sweetest, most adorable lady, if you have the luck to meet her. The view was unbelievably stunning. The house had everything we needed, the WiFi worked great, the water pressure in the shower was great, there were more than enough towels for the 5 of us. We hope to be back!

    Alexis2019-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Cranberry Lake is one our family will never forget. The house is the perfect home base for days out on the lake fishing and swimming, topped off by s’mores and charades in the evening. It’s the perfect mix of a cozy comfortable space, where everyone can still have private space to nap, read, or just have a moment to themselves. We had access to every amenity we might need, and Lisa was abundantly available for questions as they came up before and during the trip. The lake itself is also one of the best we’ve experienced in the adirondacks. You can still find wild areas to explore or camp in, and if you like kayaking, you will love this.

  • Cranberry Lake Casa is a beautiful lake house nestled near the end of the road. It's filled with lovely antiques and gorgeous photographs. It has everything you can possibly need for your stay at cranberry lake. The use of the canoe and kayaks is what sold us on the stay with Lisa and Joe as renting can become expensive. Lisa and Joe were very good with communicating both prior to our stay and once we arrived. They provided us with phone numbers in case of emergencies and all the local places for our needs. They even offered suggestions for sights to see around the area. The place was clean and well kept and the beds for comfortable as well. My family will definitely be returning in the future and will cherish the memories we made there forever.

Privately situated on 50 acres of pine woods in the Adirondack foothills, it’s the perfect place for a family adventure or romantic retreat. Hike the property and surrounding woods or venture out to explore nearby lakes, waterfalls and deep wilderness trails. • This place is so amazing, your own personal slice of heaven on earth. That you almost don’t want to write a review and “share” this secret place with others. Hahaha. But that wouldn’t be fair to Rick & Maria who have put so much time and effort into making the King Pines a magical place. Our son loves playing in the sand, and we enjoyed bonfires nightly. The balconies are peaceful and you feel like you’re in a tree house. We will be returning, I can’t wait.

  • This home exceeded any expectations we had coming up. We arrived and we realized the pictures don’t do justice. Richard and Maria were amazing hosts. Gave us full reign of the property, we were able to use their kayaks and canoe for the local water areas that they also explained in depth with hand drawn maps. The cabin was very clean and we felt right at home. So much character and many quirks being built by hand themselves! This is the perfect balance between living off the grid while still having the amenities you need. Wonderful stay, we will definitely be back!

Fisherman's paradise, great getaway from life.
Get away from it all and sit back and relax. Great fishing spot and feel one with nature.
  • Perfect location, fantastic hosts, and cozy atmosphere

  • I hope to visit often for many years to come, great jumping off spot for ADK adventures , and perfectly relaxing if you want to stay put and watch the river flow by.

  • This is a great getaway in the Adirondack region. The cabins are great for a couple or a family. The cabin has everything you need and is next to a beautiful river where you can swim, kayak, fish, or take a boat. Great hosts in a lovely spot - would definitely come back!

  • Such an awesome weekend trip here. The River Rat was the perfect getaway for my boyfriend, our dog and I. We loved hanging around the cabin, going on a kayak and playing the yard games they had available. The place is very clean and has everything that you’ll need to be comfortable. Make sure to read the book inside the cabin with suggestions of things to do around the area from other travelers. We got lots of great tips.

  • Can’t say enough good things about Jillian and Ray and the little oasis they’ve created. This is our second time staying here and it won’t be our last. They’ve thought of everything and the place is so great, with tons of things to do. Thank guys and shoutout to Roxy!

  • Jillian and Ray's property and cabins are so special! This was our second stay--this time using both cabins for our family. We had a great time kayaking and using their paddle boat before dinner. It was just as relaxing, peaceful and private as we remember from our previous visit. We appreciate the sparkling clean bathrooms and quiet cabins to rest. Thank you for your hospitality!

  • Exceptional! William and Ray are so welcoming !! The cottage was perfectly clean and located in a beautiful setting near the lake ... superb !!!

  • Beautiful, peaceful location along the river. Hosts are friendly and welcoming and have kayaks for your use and other outdoor game activities. Outdoor movie night was fun. Cabins are rustic but comfortable and well equipped, including a grill, picnic table and fire pit. We plan to return.

Situated just outside the western edge of the Adirondack Park, a block from the West Branch of the Oswegatchie River, a twenty minute scenic commute to Fort Drum, and a short (3 mil) trek to Lake Bonaparte, this beautiful country home is the perfect landing spot after a day of fishing, canoeing, hiking and/or working. Enjoy the region's farm, valleys, and woodlands or stay with us for your Fort Drum or Watertown business. You'll be glad you came!
This newly remodeled home boast a beautiful, large private backyard (including an expansive 1/2 acre of wooded area) complete with large screened in porch and patio for outdoor lounging. A safe and quiet neighborhood. Inside you'll find three cozy bedrooms, two full baths, first floor laundry, hardwood floors downstairs, eclectic decor.
Go swimming, rock hoping, and have a cool beverage while soaking in the many 'pools' in the Oswegatchie River. The River is 150' wide and has a rocky bottom with area of gentle rapids, rock outcrops, and pools. Upstream 1/4 mile is an area where you can launch a canoe easily and have many miles of canoeing and kayaking on the River. Bring your boat (plenty of parking in my lot next door) and launch it at the state boat launch three miles away at the very scenic Lake Bonaparte.
  • Very nice house on a quiet street in a quaint community. Perfect space for traveling with a toddler. Host was very responsive, yet unobtrusive.

  • Great place to stay. Small town with a beautiful river. We had a great night there and were invited to the community festival which had festivities for the kids, a parade, fireworks and live music! What an unexpected fun surprise. Welcoming town.

  • Very clean and comfortable. Kitchen fully stocked with all the kitchen supplies we needed. Our purpose in staying here was just sleeping amd cooking breakfast, but there is a nice back yard to relax in and space for kids to play.

  • This is a wonderful home for a family get away. The back yard and swing set were a hit with my toddler. The kitchen had everything necessary for gourmet cooking, and the living areas were comfortable and inviting.

  • My son and I had a fantastic stay. The house is in the middle of a beautiful 230 acre land. It is very enjoyable to witness the self-sufficient lifestyle Dora and her husband have created there; and they are the perfect hosts. I will be looking for reasons to go back.

    Ali2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful location and they make you feel like family! Dora was so welcoming and friendly. Her place super clean and check in was so easy. Would definitely stay again if we were back in the area!

Quiet, very rural cottage retreat. Sounds of nature, overlooking the river in a setting perfect for reflection, relaxation and unwinding. The property is located on 350 acres of land, surrounded by NY State forest. Within walking distance is the main house which will sleep 12 people. Easy access to the river, swimming, kayaking, bike paths, walking trails and nature. A small cabin comes with this property, perfect for writing, reflecting, painting or reading. Solitude and rejuvination.
Our cabin is a quiet retreat that invites the outside into a welcoming, clean environment. The boundaries between the two are glass windows, sky lights and sliding doors. Every room holds a view of forest, trees, river or the sky. Simple beauty of nature is reflected in natural accents, wooden and simple furniture with clean comfortable bedding. Wood stove for added comfort or quick heating propane. All amenities for bedding and bathing are included and in place for your comfort. A coffee station with a coffee bean grinder, drip coffee or keurig choices start the day. A 5 gallon water dispenser is provided, serving both hot and cold. The kitchen is fully stocked with cooking pots and pans and basic ingredients. NO telephone, television and limited cell service.
The cottage is the last seasonal residence on a two mile dirt road. You will be surrounded by nature and should not experience any additional traffic. Withing a short walking distance is the dock to the water for easy access and a small fire pit for campfires or smores. Wood is provided.
  • Lauren & Ray’s place was very quiet and very relaxing. The fall is a beautiful time to be at their place. Cool days, toasty warm fires at night! Pretty fall foliage! Just what we wanted. There is no tv, no internet and very limited cell service so one can become unplugged very easily. The deck was perfect for early mornings wrapped in a blanket drinking coffee and watching the sunrise. Lauren & Ray were great hosts! Very responsive to anything we needed. They knew we had flight delays and would be getting there after 1 a.m. our first night so they bought groceries so we’d have something to eat that morning for breakfast. Lauren also made us a delicious blueberry (from her garden) cobbler one day. It was yummy! The cabin is about 15 minutes from the nearest town with a grocery store. We just made sure that we stopped to pick up things before heading back to the cabin each night. We didn’t get to enjoy it much during the day because of our commitments away from the cabin but enjoyed a fire in the wood stove every night. There are a lot of stairs getting into the cabin so if you have difficulty doing stairs this could be a real challenge for you. Also, there is only one bathroom and it is upstairs. There is no washer & dryer. We were there 12 days so we had to go to a laundromat. Not a big deal though. This cabin turned out to be the best place for us. It felt homey and very comfortable. We will keep this cabin on our list of ‘good ones to return to’.

  • Lauren is a superb host. She is very responsive to all my questions and provided very clear directions to get to the house. Lauren greeted us in person, showed as around the house and answered any questions we may have. She even prepared treats for us upon arrival. The house is located in a forest and right next to the river. It's super clean and beautifully decorated. We spent sometime sitting in the front porch and enjoy the river and treets around us. Kayaking and hiking are also available at the door step. We didn't get to do that due to the raining weather. However, we did some grilling and star watching at night. It was great to disconnect from our phone and the busy world that we came from and really relax. Lauren's house is the perfect place for us and we can't wait to go back again!

    Alice2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Lauren’s place is a destination by itself, wish we were there for a week instead of just 2 days. Our family received a very warm welcome even though it was late evening by the time we reached. The cottage was very clean, comfortable and beautifully decorated. She had thought about every tiny detail to make our stay comfortable and memorable. Hope to be back soon for a longer time.

  • Fantastic house, very beautiful lake and quiet and peaceful scenery. All boats were fantastic and it all worked out perfectly. Fire pit works well, as does TV and WiFi. Highly recommend, I may even be back.

  • Beaver lake cottage was a wonderful place to stay. The location is prime. It's a little challenging to find the house so maybe a sign with the house number and arrow would be beneficial. Overall, we had an amazing time!

    Jessica2019-06-17T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect for a weekend getaway with friends and family. The area is secluded and very peaceful. The upper deck, fire pit, and dock were great areas for relaxing. Would recommend!

    Bradley2019-05-21T00:00:00Z
  • This location was heavenly for us! The access to the water and use of the boats was such a bonus. It is a camp and we loved that - so not fancy, yet just right. The gas fireplace was perfect for the cooler nights. Waking up to the call of the loon was enchanting; gorgeous stars on our one clear night; whispering pines and such peace. And great to be able to bring our new dog - who loved the water and our nearby hikes!

    Sarah2018-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Mary's cottage greets you with rustic charm, and a gorgeous private location overlooking the lake. The waterfront is clear and perfect for swimming, and the use of kayak, rowboat and paddle boat was an added bonus to enjoy the water! Spent most of our days lounging by the dock, cooking on the deck with a fabulous grill and on the rainy days enjoyed a great selection of movies provided at the cottage. Probably one of our most favourite family vacations! We visited the Stillwater Reserve about 30 min away which was gorgeous and also Water Safari in Old Forge was fun for our daughter! We came from Canada so really enjoyed exploring the area for the first time - next time we're bringing a back road map! Hope to visit again!

    Errin2018-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay! The lake and the boats Mary left us to use were a lot of fun. It was very quiet which was also very nice.
