We love being 1.5 miles from town, close enough to visit our family there, yet have three acres of trees and plants. Easy to get here by local bus, cab, on foot or bicycle. We have 2 bedrooms, each with 1 double bed. We charge $25 per night for each room and one or two occupants, 10$ each additional guest after 2, assuming use of the second room for 3 or 4 guests. There are also two hammocks on the screen porch. For summer 2020 this is blocked but see listing “Long Term Stay in The Country”
“Put away any doubts about where to stay in Orange Walk. Barbara And Bart are amazing hosts. They ha e so much local information to share and they will look after you with home cooked food even if you are vegan like me. They grow their own fruit and have chickens and dogs. Nothing goes to waste here. This place is off the beaten track a little but is beautiful and only a short drive or taxi into town. The stars at night are so clear as there is no light pollution. Truly an amazing place to stay.”
This small rustic cabin is on the bank of the New River, just an 8 minute drive from downtown Orange Walk. We offer a free ride to town every morning at 7:30. We can also make arrangements if you wish to head to town for dinner and drinks. Maracas Bar and Grill on site open Thursday thru Sunday, for lunch and dinner. The cabin is one 6 on 5 acres of riverside property. If you're a birder, early morning is a good time. Spiny tail iguanas, proboscis bats, other wildlife live on the property
“When booking this place, one of our criteria was that it was a bit outside of the town, at the river with wildlife around and that it has a fridge and coffeemaker. We came on a Monday when the Bar is closed and the whole area was very quite. They have picnic tables and small benches along the river and we saw birds and iguanas, jumping fish and even a crocodile. We checked in via the hotel de la Fuenta in Orange Walk and booked with them our Lamanai tour (which was exceptional, we had a wonderful guide who found a lot of wild life and went up with us on all the ruins, and what we liked the best we were only a small group of 5 people) we can highly recommend booking with the Lamanai River Tours). It is beautiful to sit in front of your cabin - our cabin didn't had a table, but some of the other ones have). the rooms have a wonder bath room, fan and air conditioner. If you don't have a car, they pick you up in the morning. I would recommend this place if you have a car and you can go back and forth independently.”
Cabin 14 is a rustic standard riverside cabin for a couple. The bed and dresser are made of local hardwood harvested on site. Quiet area with a private porch and view of the New River.
“This very private property on the river was so peaceful and beautiful way beyond what we were expecting. The cabin we had was small but perfect for two people and was well equipped and perfectly clean. There is a beautiful pool that the cabins front on to and there is also the resort dining area that we had two meals at on the deck by the river. Orlando and his wife were perfect hosts and went out of their way to make our stay special. I highly recommend Orlando's place and I promise you I am not related to them or knew them until we arrived.”
