  • Let's Make Chilean Empanadas Together
For the past 2 years, I have been teaching my granny's empanada recipe and it has been a great pleasure. Now Airbnb gives me the opportunity to do the class online, being able to take this family recipe anywhere in the world. To start, I will send you the list of ingredients. The ingredients are very easy to find: for dough (flour, egg, butter, milk), the filling or "Pino" (meat, onion, raisins, olives and egg) together with the famous Chilean Pebre, a rich chopped sauce of fresh ingredients (tomato, onion and coriander). If they do not have them we can make other variants. Normally traditional empanadas are with beef, but we can adapt to your personal tastes, and make them vegetarian, chicken and more. While we cook, we can have a drink and share anecdotes from Chile and some tips for when they come. We will cook the ingredients of the filling, we will make the dough and we will teach them to organize the elements to fill them, close them and make the traditional shapes that identify them. Then we heat the oven to the proper temperature and bake until golden. We will also make the pebre that accompanies them, to finally taste the traditional Chilean Pine Empanada with Pebre. GREAT FOR GROUPS - Contact me for special details or adaptations. Check out my face-to-face experience:

  • 4X4 Adventure to the Hot Springs and Cajon del Maipo in the Middle of los andes
Our experience begins at 15:30 pm so we see the sunset on our way to Cajon del Maipo. Then we enter Cajón del Maipo following Río Maipo and the old train line. We pass through different little towns, each with a unique history. In our way, we'll stop for you to take all the photos you want. We stop by the side of a beatiful waterfall. Then we go down the main road to head up to the main attraction, the hot springs! Relax in the water that comes from the volcano which you will see nearby. Before going back to Santiago, enjoy a chilean BBQ (or empanadas during winter time). Of course full of wine and whisky! Always By the side of a bunch fire under a sky full of stars!! Then we return to Santiago remembering the wonderful adventure we did together. To get more information, follow us on INSTAGRAM @jeep_ontour. Other things to note There is the option that I can pick up the passengers at the hotel. The tour includes food and drinks, I recomend to bring a little snack also. • Casablanca Valley boutique Winery Tour
We'll leave Santiago around 9am and take a pretty 1,5 hour drive to the Casablanca Valley, previously famous mainly for its' whites but now producing increasingly amazing reds as well. We'll avoid the large producers and concentrate solely on boutique wineries with - it goes without saying - fantastic wines. Depending on availability that day, we'll start off at the very small and wonderful Attilio & Mochi winery where the Brazilian couple of Angela and Marcos, who left their sucessful wine importing business in Brazil to pursue their dream, are producing some wonderfully fresh, mineral, original and award winning wines. Angela is truly one of the most charming winemakers I know, making the visit a memorable experience for everyone I've taken there. After an hour and a half or two, we will move on either to the beautiful Villard winery, established by a franco-chilean family who make some of the best cold climate syrahs in the country in an amazing setting, or to the wonderful RE boutique winery (which recently won 34th place in the 50 Best Wineries in the world) that make some of the most delicious and original blends in the country. We'll be usually be back in Santiago by 4pm. A lunch stop is not included in the schedule, but we can be done (anything from an empanada to a sit-down lunch) if planned in advance and agreed-on with all the participants on the trip. Other things to note My aim is for the trip to be laid back, entertaining and informative, hopefully as if travelling with a friend. I speak native-level English, French and Spanish.

  • From San Cristobal hill to downtown
We begin our tour walking to the San Cristobal hill, trek to the top and enjoy one of the best views of Santiago. Upon the incline there are several options to cool off, eat a snack and rest for a while ( (if you don't want to walk, you can get on the bus). Then, we will descend and walk from Barrio Bellavista, crossing the Commercial District Patronato to the market area. First we will visit La Vega, the largest food market in Santiago, where anyone can purchase delicious food if they feel inclined. Then we will go through La Vega Chica and Tirso Molina until we reach the Central Market, now transformed into a place specializing in the sale of seafood and local Chilean food. Next to the market, there is a place where you can also taste the famous Empanada de Pino. We will continue sightseeing the Center of Santiago, and visit some emblematic places such as the Plaza de Armas, the Cathedral, the Ex-Congress, the Courts of Justice, the Paseo Banderas and the Palacio de la Moneda. Anyway, if there is any special interest to visit somewhere, we can also include it in the tour. ON MONDAYS THERE IS NO FUNICULAR Other things to note It is a long walk through the city, including a climb to the hill, which should be taken into account before we begin. Bring money in case you fancy some of the food suggestions on the tour.
