“To describe the experience at the Lake House, I have to begin with recommending you read all the comments/reviews prior to booking. I did this, along with asking specific questions to Javier, which he promptly responded to. When making this booking, we were fully aware of what being by a lake would be like (amenity wise), and we were glad that we had a reliable 4x4 pickup truck to get us to and from. Javier met us at a gas station which wasn’t very far from the hotel we had been staying at previously. He also offered to give some members of our group a drive as he led us directly to his stunning property. All the previous reviews that mention the rough roads, are correct. I would like to add for any seasoned travellers, that with a 4x4 the roads are very manageable, however the unpredictability of the other drivers is what makes the winding, bendy, and steep slopes of the road a challenge. Now to what really matters... The lake house, and more importantly the caretakers Manuel & Vilma. The property itself is truly stunning if you’re looking for a relaxing, and adventuring time with your family. His place has three levels, the upper level where his housekeepers live, the midlevel where the bedrooms are, and the lower level with an open kitchen and sitting area. There is also a dock with places to sit and enjoy the views/sounds of the lake. To the right of that is a deck area with ample seating, lighting, shade, and three hammocks. We all enjoyed having an en-suite in every room, with hot water, and well kept linens. Each room had significant storage bins with more things that we could have used, if we had been a larger group. This may sound peculiar, but we loved the amount of electrical outlets that were everywhere on his property. Especially when you travel with a larger group, it’s nice knowing you can have all of your devices charged without having to inconvenience anyone. We did not use half of the amenities available (because of the sheer variety of options). However, it was great knowing that when we come back, that we know whatever we may need is there. The mattresses in each room were very comfortable, and the air conditioning worked well. The only critique I would point out is regarding the sliding curtains, but Manuel had mentioned this as an issue that was already being looked at for replacement. From the women in our group, the decor was appreciated. Nothing was overbearing, and it was obvious that attention was given to make the rooms feel inviting. Some of the amenities that we frequently used and loved, were the paddle boards, and kayak. Javier supplied a large bin full of different sized life jackets, which eliminate a need to bring your own. There were also a selection of pool noodles, and inflatable tubes, which the children of the group really enjoyed. The seating area was open to the kitchen, with clear view of the lake and the rooms. This allowed the opportunity for everyone to explore on their own, but still stay connected. Manuel and Vilma, are the kindest caretakers we have ever met. Our group arrived without having made a stop at a grocery store, so we had no food. We had plans to go back in to town, but we were also quite tired. Thankfully their genuine concern for our comfort and enjoyment was extended by sharing their own food with our group, so we could just relax. Vilma went out of her way to make everyone a meal that was not only delicious, but also making us feel truly welcomed. Manuel immediately offered to guide us in to town, so we would not get lost on our own. He even went as far as allowing his son to accompany some of us to the grocery store, so we could get things that we needed without the worry of the way back. But also this allowed Manuel to stay back and look after the needs of the rest of our group. The level of hospitality given to us was unparalleled, and we immediately wanted to reciprocate the warmth we felt. We left an open invitation for Manuel, Vilma, and their children to join us during our meals. Although their humility made them tentative at first, we managed to have an incredible Salvadorian Christmas experience full of laughter, good food, great stories, and amazing people. There are no words to describe the kindness, or the love they shared with all of us. They left memories with us that we will always cherish. Javier’s lake house is fantastic, but Manuel, Vilma, and their hospitality made it a home... our home. We cannot wait to be back, and share more happiness, joy, and life stories with Manuel, Vilma, and their family.”

“A beautiful place, super quiet, for lovers of nature and peace ... our experience was phenomenal, the house is much more than what one expects, the rooms are large, very comfortable, all with A / C .. The house has a privileged view, the pool is very nice to enjoy with the family; In short, you get much more than you pay, communication with Don Alex the owner is very respectful and always on the lookout, and Don Jorge the gentleman who cares very kind and calm. I think the only thing I complain about is not being able to stay longer, but we will definitely return. More than recommended place. Thank you for letting us know your beautiful place!”
