The long beachfront of Policoro is bordered by two rivers, the Sunni and the Agra, and is surrounded by pinewoods, which invite long, relaxing walks on foot or by bicycle. Beside the sea, there are many other attractions: •One can visit the National Museum of the Siritide, where one can see the art and archaeology of Greek influences ancient town known as Siris and Heraclea, flowering centers of culture and commerce of the Magna Graecia. •A few miles away is Metaponto, another city founded by the Greeks, with archeological ruins, the Palatine Tables, and its own museum. Il Parco Nazionale di Pollino, one of the largest parks in Italy, is only 70 kilometers from Policoro. It is blessed with rare species and breathtaking panoramas, and is famous for its Loricato Pines, a symbol of the park and its wild, uncontaminated nature •You can discover characteristic peasant villages, small towns, and locale farms where you can savor traditional regional and peasant dishes and Mediterranean specialties. •Traditional festivals and musical events are held throughout the region in the summer months.
