Cob Cottage

Channel the pursuit of pause in this one-of-a-kind earth house. The cozy retreat was hand-sculpted using local and sustainable natural materials, and features a central living space with cantilevered slab stairs leading to the loft bedroom. Guests have access to the entire cottage and surrounding property. We live in the neighbouring house, and are happy to give advice or answer questions to help you make the most of your stay. The neighborhood is quite rural and mostly agricultural with several farms and a small private vineyard. The home is a 10 minute walk from the beach and a 20 minute walk from a family grocery and deli specializing in local organic produce. Mayne Island has a small community bus. Times and routes are limited, particularly in the winter. It will stop at the driveway. We also have an official hitch hiking system with signed Car Stops where you can wait for a ride. Usually you don't have to wait long. We are happy to offer pickup and drop off at the ferry dock as a courtesy to encourage car-free travellers, on days when the community bus is not running. Please let us know ahead of time that you'll be coming without your own transportation, and we will make sure that either we or the community bus (which will drop you off at our driveway) are there to meet you when your ferry arrives. The BC Ferries terminals near Victoria and Vancouver are easily reachable via public transit from their respective airports and downtowns.

Beautiful flat, very tastefully decorated and was everything we wanted in an air bnb. Every possible appliance and utensils were available and the booklet Nicole provided covered every possible scenario. The flowers on arrival and a lovely welcome note on the black board were a lovely touch not to mention the sparkling water, chocolates and muesli bars. The location was perfect to use as a base for us to travel around the island. One of the nicest and comfortable apartments we’ve had the pleasure of visiting. Thank you Nicole and Zac we had a wonderful holiday!

Staying at Eyas Cabin was a great way to relax and connect with nature, while still having all the essentials for a comfortable stay. A comfy bed, a beautiful fireplace and a forest feeling to enjoy. The cabin was easy to find and still close to all the nice spots in northern VC Islands. But the best part is super friendly and relaxed Warren and his family. A five-star stay without any doubt.

The inside space was spotless and has been thoughtfully designed and kitted out with quality equipment. And the deck, with its lovely view, is a great spot to end the day with a glass of wine or two. We will 100% return.
