The Waternish peninsula offers abundant wildlife, and in the hamlet of Stein, next to the sea, a lovely old pub and a Michelin starred restaurant .

The Cuckoo's Nest Glamping Huts: Woody

This is one of two glamping huts at The Cuckoo’s Nest. Inspired by traditional Celtic roundhouses these cosy wooden huts are situated in the beautiful remote crofting township of Locheynort in the Isle of South Uist. Conveniently located approximately a mile from the main road linking the Isles of Eriskay, South Uist, Benbecula and North Uist, the huts are an idyllic base from which to explore the islands, to pause whist travelling along the Hebridean Way, or to take a relaxing short break.

The studio is detached but in the same grounds as our house. It has its own private entrance and parking. You enter via the fully fitted and equipped kitchen: dishwasher, fridge with small freezer compartment, microwave, induction hob, electric fan oven, kettle, toaster, cooking utensils, crockery, cutlery, and glassware. From the kitchen you then enter the open-plan lounge/bedroom where there is a king sized bed with feather and down duvet and pillows and white bed linen and towels.

Great for local Trout, Salmon & Sea Trout fishing and a great base for those who like hillwalking. Listen to the corncrake call from the outside picnic bench. Bicycles can be stored in the shed. Newly installed in 2021, the Cabin (often called a Storm Pod) is a self-contained luxury haven. Perched beside a small fresh-water loch and overlooking Loch Boisdale. It has a ¾ double bed, single bed and a fold-down bunk. Cooking facilities and a separate shower with WC. Outside there's a fenced courtyard with great Hebridean views for your enjoyment. Although there is sleeping for 4 available, the accommodation is more suited to couples or single occupancy.

Take it easy at this unique and tranquil getaway. Set on a working croft with cows and Monty our Bull (he friendly!!) and we will let you met him. There are our sheep to see along with the chicken and the resident dogs Ben and Lewis who love walking down to the beach with you. The caravan is well located is between the hebridean way and the arterial road, with plenty parking space behind it
