Pet-friendly holiday rentals in Te Waipounamu / South Island

We made a huge mistake when only booking this place for part of our stay. My thought was to jump around the South Island with my family at a couple stops. Had I known it was this awesome, then I would’ve booked our whole time at Anna’s. This place is exactly what my family loves. The kids will definitely be complaining about where we stay next. This property is AWESOME.

Fantastic stay in beautiful surroundings. The house is really relaxing with plenty of space for everyone. Great dining options inside or outside to enjoy the weather and views. Being able to see the stars from bed was magical. Would thoroughly recommend. To top everything off we saw dolphins from the beach on our last morning.

We had a wonderful stay at Jan’s place. We loved all of the details and the interesting art, books and furniture. It felt really homely and there were lots of helpful and thoughtful touches. The beds were all really comfortable with lovely fresh linen. Jan was an incredible host who really made sure that our stay was enjoyable. She was accommodating with a few last minute changes and always responded to messages promptly. We will definitely be booking a stay at Jans the next time we are in Otematata.

Such a beautiful place, the views were outstanding. Comfy beds, cosy fire, everything we could possibly need in the kitchen. We loved the way Lauren has styled the house too!

The house is in a great location—spacious, clean, and we especially love the large balcony in the room. Highly recommended!

If your looking for unique, rustic and quirky accommodations just 40 mins north of Christchurch, look no further. Damian’s barn accommodation is such a fun place to stay. From the spa to the turntable with lots of old vinyl to belt out. Topping this off with a glass of his Pinot Noir on the veranda in the afternoon sun was the ultimate escape. Damian is a wonderful host, friendly and welcoming. His breakfast hamper option is very generous and delicious. We were lucky enough to have a tour of the main homestead which has been lovely restored by Damian and also has beautiful BnB accommodation. Two wineries with great food are just minutes down the road. All in all I couldn’t fault this unique accommodation. Thank you Damian for your welcoming hospitality. Cheryl & Donna

Place was perfect for us for a long holiday . The location was perfect and the house had enough space for all of us and for the dogs . Yard was great and loved the privacy and the area. Did not realize how beautiful the place was until we went for walks and explored . So close to the lake and to great swimming spots. Would love to come back.

A beautiful home with a truly spectacular view!! It felt so peaceful to sit in front of the fireplace and just look out over the lake. It was more than enough space for the 5 of us to really relax. Hot tub was a great bonus!

Stunning, spacious mid century house, big homely kitchen and beautiful peaceful gardens. Short walk to the park at the end of the street. Gas heater kept the home toasty during cooler nights. Sarah was a very responsive and accommodating and we would definitely rebook if given the opportunity.

What an Amazing place, was only there for a nights sleep but boy was it cosy and had more than expected essentials. Place was easy to find and there is such a beautiful view of the harbour with all the sail boats Had quick response from the host as well Would go there again for a longer visit.

Clare’s studio in Methven is an absolute gem! The place is incredibly peaceful and beautifully set up – perfect for a relaxing getaway. Everything was spotless and thoughtfully arranged, making it feel like a little retreat. Clare is a fantastic host, super responsive and easy to communicate with throughout the whole stay. For the price, the value is honestly unbeatable. I felt like I got way more than I paid for. I’ll definitely be booking again next time I’m in the area. Highly recommend!

very warm house. clean and comfy stay. did some cooking in the room and wash our dishes outside. big nice TV which we can watch some movie during night. surround animals was lovely.

We absolutely loved our stay in Jennie’s home. Every detail was so beautiful and welcoming. The outdoor tub was a huge bonus. Besides the fact that the stay itself was so stunning with amazing views, Jennie was lovely and checked in to make sure we had everything we needed. We would stay here again in a heartbeat. Carole and Crians listing is a amazing place to stay. We stayed for two nights. Fantastic place if you want to leave your busy lifestyle and get back to nature. Very peaceful. The outdoor bath was a real treat, under the stars. Friendly Wekas around which was fun to watch. 5 stars, we will book again for sure.

Mount Lyford is beautiful. The huts are as described - small, comfortable and simple with its own cabin toilet next door. There are around 8 huts and a main hut for cooking and sitting down for a meal - which is shared. We were lucky to have the whole area to ourselves, which the dogs loved. The road up is precarious and defo needs 4-wheel drive and care, esp. if going in winter. Overall we loved our stay and is a great place to get away. I would consider it for a ski holiday next time.
