Misty Mountain Hut - Ruapehu

Misty Mountain Hut-Ruapehu is located in the sleepy little village of Rangataua, 5 minutes distance to Mountain road going up to the Turoa skifield and Ohakune. The 1 bedroom colonial villa has a beautiful view of the mountain. Unlimited wifi and a new firebox with plenty of firewood and a heat pump ensure you are warm in winter. My favourite time here is summer for amazing walks/cycling up mountains to enjoy majestic views. Misty Mountain Hut supports local staff by paying $40/hr for cleaning.

Conveniently located in the heart of Ohakune yet still private with its own garden and maintains a homely feel. Within easy walking distance to restaurants, supermarket, pharmacy, bike rental shops, the Carrot Park, i-SITE and Intercity bus stop. Perfect jump off point to explore both Tongariro National Park and Wanganui National Park, or just winding down after skiing/snowboarding at Turoa, doing the Tongariro Alpine Crossing, or any of the short walks nearby, or biking the Old Coach Road.

Our modern home is 15 minutes from Taupō yet feels like a private hideaway. Quiet and secluded, it looks out to Lake Taupō and Mount Ruapehu, with stunning sunsets. Ideal year-round, it has outdoor areas with BBQ, large windows and a double-sided fireplace. Whakaipo Bay is 5 minutes away for swimming or walking, with plenty of bush tracks nearby. Not suitable for children. Hairdryer, toiletries and iron not provided (sorry guests keep taking them and it’s to hard to constantly replace).

Kowhai Tiny home is a space to relax, get away from the hustle and bustle and wind down. The open plan living allows for intimate interaction while the French doors allow you to move into a cozy outdoor experience.

Lochside retreat

Located just a 5-minute walk to the lake in the heart of Kinloch Village. An inviting fireplace offers cozy warmth on chilly evenings. A King-sized bed with crisp linens and plush pillows awaits. Two Sliding doors open to a private deck (can be enclosed) with a kitchen (hotplate, pot, frypan, coffee machine, tea, and milk in a small fridge), fireplace, private bathroom, and a stunning view from the outdoor bath and shower (hot water). The Mangawhero River and cycle way are a 1 minute walk.

Gazing over the Ruapehu plateau, KUBO is our little house on a hill with the private Fantail Suite — a tranquil haven where time slows, and nature feels close. Enjoy coffee in the lounge at sunrise, watch golden sunsets from the deck, or stargaze under clear mountain skies. Between Tongariro and Whanganui National Parks, it’s close to ski fields, hiking, and biking trails. NO CLEANING FEE.
