Family-friendly holiday rentals in Whakatāne

Had an amazing stay here! The house was lovely and spacious, as well super clean and tidy. The view is truly spectacular and can be seen from most rooms in the house which was so cool. Would definitely recommend!

The best thing about the place is that it's near Lake Rotorua. It doesn't look amazing from the outside, but inside it's pretty good and really spacious.

Thank you Rachelle and family for an incredible stay at your bach. It was the most beautiful location for our get together. The surrounding native bush, tidy spacious lockwood and all the amenities you could ask for (right on the lake, spa, flying fox, kayaks) and a wonderful host to create an awesome holiday. You won't want to leave. If you are considering The Barefoot lodge - BOOK NOW! You won't regret it!!

This was my second stay, and we had a friend reunion. It was fabulous, so quiet and peaceful. Fablous spot and we loved the spa. Highly recommend

Great place to stay. 5 mins walk to beach and great facilities such as outdoor shower and spa pool. Clean and modern house. Joanne is great to deal with- very quick responses.

This house was perfect for our small group of friends to catch up & relax. The proximity to redwoods & a park was excellent and we loved the hot spa. The kitchen had all we needed & the heat pump kept us cosy. Bedrooms were chilly so we appreciated the electric blankets.

Our little family had a wonderful stay and would love to come back again. Absolute beachfront with a spa! Everything you need and well equipped kitchen, water toys, games etc. Lovely hosts that go the extra mile. Walking distance to shops. Couldn’t ask for more! Thank you Naylin and Sandie :)

My friends & I had a marvellous stay. The place was perfect, great views & peaceful surroundings. It was lovely being on the deck, watching the birds & looking out onto Lake Rotoiti. We were there for mountains biking & paddleboarding on the lake. It is 20mins to the mtbike tracks. The instructions & local recommendations were great. If you want a peaceful stay in a fantastic location then this is the place to be. Many thanks to the owner :-)

Beautiful spot right across from the beach. Quiet and peaceful, just what we needed.

Janet is a wonderful communicator. She was extremely helpful throughout and we really appreciated all the help she provided. In terms of value for money, this was somewhat disappointing. While we were aware of the rules and preconditions of our stay before our holiday, having to cater for our own linens, towels, rubbish and recycling, etc. reduces our star rating and our value for money considerations.

It was the quintessential kiwi batch feel to a great location. The fact that we could take our dog was priceless and we are so thankful for such.

Dan's place is just a piece of paradise! Right in front of the lake, with private jetty and private ramp, away from the main road, totally safe for children. Highly recommend! Dan is very responsive and welcoming, makes you feel like home. Looking forward to return again!

Perfection…in every way. Great communication and Paul was very responsive and accommodating. The place was a slice of heaven and we will definitely be using it every time we travel to Whakatane. Super close to town, with 180 degree ocean views and very respectful quiet neighbours. 10/10 for anyone looking for an amazing place to relax and unwind. Would 100% stay again such a good location and great for the dogs! With parks and the beach only minutes away definitely best of both worlds. House had so much space and lots of seating areas. Loved the pool!

We had a wonderful stay at Gloria’s. absolute perfect for 3 kids under 5 with two adults. So much for the kids to do! Gloria had a huge range of toys available and the pool was perfect - beautifully heated and a nice area to be in. Full kitchen was great too. Definitely recommend 😊
