Family-friendly holiday rentals in Alajuela Province

My friend and I really appreciated Ana Maria's hospitality and her family's gorgeous home. We loved the special personal touches including the jungle of house plants and well-stocked library with board games and books. Having the fireplace stocked with wood made it possible to have the perfect ambiance for reading in front of the fire on a misty afternoon! We found it helpful to have earplugs at night, as the home is close to a transit road, and earplugs did the trick to help us sleep soundly.

We absolutely loved this place. It is well maintained and has everything you need. It feels like home. The woodwork in the house is so beautiful. The property is gorgeous and has trails to explore. Carolina and Manuel arranged to get some specially requested food for our stay. They had the food there for our arrival which was so helpful. Manuel took us on an awesome night hike. Carolina’s husband also gave us a tour of the property too. Carolina and her family really go out of their way to make this a welcoming place. They grow amazing coffee on the property which we really enjoyed. They also shared their garden veggies and the bananas. We stayed 4 days and wished we had stayed longer. We found it easy to go into Monteverde for activities like coffee tours, cloud forest, animal sanctuary el Tigre waterfall, etc. There are some great restaurants close by the house and of course in monteverde too. We enjoyed ordering homemade empanadas from cafe Horizonte for breakfast.

We stayed only one night prior to our flight. Despite being close to the city/airport, it felt very private and was relatively quiet. The view was great, and we walked to a restaurant down the street for dinner. Beds were very comfortable. Stephen’s team was super responsive and went above and beyond.

El departamento es privado con una gran cocina y sala de estar, también cuenta con dos habitaciones, cada una con una cama king muy cómoda y perfecta para descansar. Se sintió como estar en casa lo que más nos gustó fue la zona de la piscina y el jacuzzi privados, es un lugar perfecto para descansar y relajarse cerca de todas las atracciones de la zona al igual que muy buenos restaurantes lo recomiendo a cualquiera que visite la zona de la Fortuna

Our stay at the “pie in the sky” was awesome. We prefer a slightly more remote place, and this place had it in spades. Insanely beautiful views and perfect for our family as a home base while we were exploring La Fortuna and all its surrounding areas. Would absolutely go back.

Wonderful week with my family of four! Loved Punta Islita—beautiful beach and resort- amenities available to us! So much wildlife around! We actually loved the separate master bedroom, worked perfectly for us. The pool was exquisite! Highly recommend!

A week in Pura Vida.  Casa Aracari is a great combination of Tico and modern style and amenities.  Very comfortable, with large windows which makes the living area light and airy, and gives a pleasant view of Vulcan Poas which was puffing steam during our stay.  Our trip was during the rainy season, so things were ... humid (as expected).  There is no air conditioning, but a bit of adjusting of the screened windows and doors gave light breezes through the house, so totally comfortable.  The only issue we ran into was after one particularly strong thunderstorm, the power was out and the electrically powered driveway gate wouldn't open (can happen anywhere, so you just deal with it).  This was quickly and efficiently remedied with a text to Diana.  The Jacuzzi was welcoming on cool evenings after long days of sight seeing.  All in all, our stay was peaceful, pleasant, and this was a great retreat and base from which to explore the Atenas region.    Highly recommended.

J’ai beaucoup aimé mon séjour à la casita. C’est rudimentaire mais fidèle à la description. Ça été un lieu de ressourcement pour moi. Le lieu est un peu compliqué à trouver: il faut se rendre proche avec les coordonnés GPS puis suivre les indications des hôtes indiqués dans les spécifications et alors: il n’y aura pas de problème. J’ai passé un superbe moment avec Andy et Angy: j’ai même soupé avec eux et ils ont été très accueillants. Le déjeuner était exquis et j’ai dégusté avec plaisir leurs produits faits maison et ce qu’ils cultivent avec passion. Ils m’ont fait d’excellents suggestions d’itinéraire et j’ai pu découvrir des routes fabuleuses et un endroit où me baigner dans l’eau turquoise. C’était magique. Je recommande +++ cet endroit pour y séjourner. Le seul hic est l’absence de wifi et l’absence de réseau à la casita. il faut être dans leur maison pour y avoir accès avec le wifi. Cela aide au ressourcement et à déconnecter par contre 😊. Je pouvais venir quand je voulais.

Una típica quinra de recreo con una cada cómoda muy limpia y bien equipada. El área social excelente. Hicimos BBQ y se pasa muy bien en la piscina. De noche sumamente especial con luces y todo lo necesario. Vamos y ducha al aire libre también. Un 10! Muy comunicativos los anfitriones.

Es un hermoso lugar rodeado se naturaleza. Muy como y limpio. Cerca de restaurantes y tiendas.

Maricel’s place was exactly as described. A great place to land flying into San Jose; Uber from the airport very inexpensive. Communication very easy and Maricel is very responsive and helpful. We did forget to leave one set of keys and Maricel has been very kind and understanding to let us drop them off when we fly out.

Excellent location and views! Ronald and Christopher were more than welcoming and even provided different excursions. We highly recommend this place!

Edgar is by far the friendliest host we've ever dealt with. He's the very definition of hands on, responsive and helpful. He instantly dealt with any request, and bend over backwards to ensure we had a 5 Star experience at his beautiful beach home. His recommendations for local restaurants, experiences, and destinations were equally as helpful and appreciated. The house is every bit as gorgeous as the pictures, and the indoor/outdoor lifestyle was clearly explained in the description and during follow up messages with Edgar. As long as you fully understand the living space is open to the elements, you'll not be disappointed. Lastly, when my family was returning from a day trip to Monteverde Cloud Forest, we got caught up in a major road closure. It was a multi-hour delay that was a bit stressful given the very young children in our family group. Edgar spent much of his personal time attempting to help us find an alternative route home. Can't say enough about our wonderful stay!

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful home in La Fortuna! The highlight was definitely the stunning Arenal Volcano views—right in the backyard, it felt surreal. The location was perfect—close to all the best spots in La Fortuna, yet peaceful and private. The house itself was very clean, well-maintained, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The host was extremely responsive and helpful throughout. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area!

Es mejor que como se muestra en fotos! El lugar es muy tranquilo y relajante! La atención del personal súper amigable en especial Flory! Fuimos con las mascotas y fueron súper bien recibidos hasta una cama nos dieron para ellos, la vista y el atardecer desde el lugar es increíble La piscina fresca y los alrededores de zona verde lo que uno necesita para descansar

Had a great vacation at this beautiful home, we are a family of 5 with 3 girls (15, 13, and 11). The kids loved having their own room and bathroom. The "kids room" is located in the back corner of the property with the pool in-between the main guest house and the kids room, worked out great for us. We loved the open air outdoor kitchen. House is nicely removed from La Fortuna but the main guest house does back to the road and can hear the traffic, while light, in the evenings and morning while sleeping, not a big issue. We spent our days exploring the area, loved the food at Jalapas, La Fortuna waterfall, rope swing, ATV and Hot Spring combo excursion (La Finca Lodge, check it out! Only 12 people at the hot spring), and Judah set us up on a white water rafting trip that was a blast! Pool was bigger than expected and enjoyed while we were on the property. Used the propane grill and outdoor burners. Beds comfortable. The grounds are very well kept and have a very nice walking path.

We have stayed at Casa Isabelita multiple times. It is always so peaceful. We hope to stay again.

Het verblijf in Bio Thermales is fantastisch. Midden in het regenwoud heerlijke natuurlijke warmwaterbaden van verschillende temperaturen. een heerlijke relax plek. Ook veel flora en fauna op het complex.

Nuestra experiencia en la mansión fue simplemente maravillosa, un lugar seguro, privado y con paisajes muy lindos. Además, Federico fue un anfitrión excelente, siempre atento y con una comunicación impecable desde el primer momento. Se aseguró de que todo estuviera perfecto y de que nuestras necesidades fueran atendidas en todo momento. El espacio es ideal para compartir en familia: amplio, cómodo y con una piscina espectacular que disfrutamos muchísimo. ¡Sin duda, una experiencia para repetir!
