Holiday rentals with a fireplace in Appalachian Mountains

Overall we very much enjoyed modern rural space. Kiss the Cow farm about 5min drive was amazing& we got most all main food there w/ additional items from Barnard General Store. Spices/ cookware were very good - we brought nonstick pans& 1 knife to supplement. Plenty bowls, measuring cups/spoons, maybe a set of tom collins glasses would be nice albeit stemless wine and rocks glasses available. Needs garlic/onion powder. Tub was amazing/ upstairs bathroom a true getaway/ relaxing space. It was as pictured albeit note spiral staircase &open grated flooring upstairs. Plenty of windows albeit not much cross breeze so think ahead if bring own fan and/or start A/C before get too warm. I would say you must have an SUV year round for this rental - surrounding roads/ driveway are a good distance on rough dirt/gravel - traversable yet a sportier car with low profile tires/ ground clearance would not work. We enjoyed simply walking driveway& East Barnard Rd. Barnard Inn restaurant worth it.

Lovely place with lake views. 100% happy with this choice vs other offerings in the area. House is set on a hill so you are viewing the lake from a higher spot than if you were literally on the lake. Very majestic. There are binoculars on the window sill to check out boats/things going on. I enjoyed the decor/sense of style the host has. Lots of interesting books, art, turntable, board games, cards, etc. The gardens, koi pond are well maintained. Rooms and bath upstairs do have lower ceiling but this info is disclosed in the ad. It didn’t detract from the experience. Went hiking but we were not avid hikers so learning to read the trail markers was new for us. The town is very small but we found nice spots to eat/visit nearby. We did use kitchen and coffee maker. Appliances are very new. Plenty of kitchen utensils. Cool hairdryer. Host def. appreciates design. Thank you for letting us stay a few extra hours past check out. Wonderful time! Felt like I really got away from the stress.

This place was truly magical. From the breathtaking view to the beautiful cabin everything was amazing . The cabin itself was very comfortable and is definitely for a big family. The cabin was very accessible and made me and my family feel right at home. This place was definitely worth every penny!

No notes, incredible escape even in the pouring rain. The ambience, even down to the little things like walking through the door to classical music, was truly top notch.

Tom’s art & sculpture, inside & out, will blow you away! If you’ve stayed at their former AirB&B, the Art Cabin in the Woods, you’ll remember the little touches that made it magical, surprises at every turn - imagine that x5, that’s what you find here. GORGEOUS indoor space that’s colorful, whimsical and yet upscale & refined, from the radiant heated floors to the fully stocked gourmet kitchen..the cozy living room with the biggest TV I’ve ever seen to the bedroom’s atmospheric wall-mounted fireplace.. the PERFECT mattress & the deepest soaking tub these old bones have ever had the pleasure to melt in! True luxury Outside - hot tub, grill, fire pit, wood-burning sauna…3 decks, seating everywhere, and the views…all speak for themselves. 2 nights wasn’t enough, strongly suggest minimum 3, I’m already planning!!

What an absolute privilege to spend a couple of nights in a Frank Lloyd Wright home. No stone was left unturned in restoring, furnishing, and decorating the space to its original grandeur. The home is full of literature, original architectural plans and artwork that enhance the understanding of the design, and of the home's place within The Acres community. Marika is the most accommodating and gracious host. We are eternally grateful for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

A very nice spacious house that suit our family perfectly, hosts are very responsive, they always got back to us right away. We had a great Memorial weekend in glass house, highly recommended to other travelers!

Has a real “Wow”factor as soon as you walk in the door. The upper bedroom area is amazing. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen had everything you could possibly need. The back deck and yard, the view….Wow again. Along with the usual suspects we regularly saw Bald eagles, Osprey, Egrets and a Pelican. The surrounding area is beautiful. I highly recommend Red Door Retreat. Despite how wonderful it shows in the photos. It exceeded our expectations. Would not hesitate to return.

Look no more! Winter Island Retreat is a seaside oasis that creates an atmosphere of tranquility and peace. From the moment I arrived I was struck by it's beauty captivated by the stunning sunrises to start each day The retreat is charming and a place of solace. The beautifully manicured lawn and gardens filled with lush floral designs adds to its magic. while the front porch with its rocking chairs, invite you to slow down and savor your morning coffee or lose yourself in a good book. Evenings are equally special walking the path to the beach and settling into the adriondack chair with a glass of wine It's a peaceful ritual that grounds you in gratitude. The home itself is cozy, comfortable and thoughtfully decorated with calming beachy touches that make you feel at ease. It's perfectly located just minutes from downtown Salem. I'm grateful to be one of the lucky guests to stay in David's home. He was a kind and gracious host. A truly memorable retreat I will be back

We enjoyed our stay at this accommodation. It is located right across the street from a Lake Lansing and one morning the sunrise was the most spectacular orange reflecting off the Lake. We enjoyed the infrared sauna both days we were there, the place was clean, quiet and filled with new smart electronics. Thank you we would stay here again!

This was my second stay here- just as peaceful, clean and comfortable as the first! Spacious “in-law” quarters with all the necessities and a nice touch of extras like a stocked coffee station with Keurig brewer, countertop convection/air fryer oven, and electric fireplace. The apartment’s cleanliness and neatness is a standout. Great communicaton from the host as well.

Stayed here for two nights, Micheal was an impeccable host. The place was just as described, near to everything, and very comfortable. Would definitely stay here again in a heartbeat.

I came back just a few days later because I could not stop thinking about this place. The gas fireplace once again created the perfect cozy environment after long workdays. The unit is not only beautiful but also perfectly equipped for an extended stay. Everything I needed to feel settled and focused was already there. The hosts were just as wonderful the second time. Still one of my favorite stays in DC.

Wonderful place that was very close to Broadway! The apartment was right by the elevators so very convenient, but not noisy at all. Parking was super close to the lobby doors as well. Everything was super clean and she had just about everything you could think of in the kitchen and bathroom in case you needed anything. Lindsey was very nice and made sure to even reach out to let us know that the cleaners finished early if we wanted to check in early. Overall, I would definitely stay here again if we decide to come back down!

Mike & susan and the happiest golden retrievers Molly and Penny were the most perfect hosts. The Bark guesthouse was simply perfect, beautifully decorated, soo spacious, super clean and just wonderfully magical. From the beautiful wood finishes,to the comfy bed, to magical deck view (birds a chirping) to the steel roof that will lull you to sleep during a rainstorm. My gf and I enjoyed our time in as much as our time out. Mike and Susans property is a stone throw away from bike for rental, damn good gin and loads of amazing wine estates to enjoy. And if you want some beautiful wood accents in your home, Mike has honed his carpenters creative side with his own wood masterpieces in his shop. We are definitely coming back for another stay and a longer trip. We recommend this guesthouse to everyone who loves their privacy, a magical setting and comfy luxury.

Lauren & Guy's was adorable and the perfect spot from which to vacation in Kill Devil Hills. Everything was immaculate and very thoughtfully put together, and we appreciated the amenities like clean cozy towels and Keurig coffee maker. It was a very fun and relaxing stay. The chalet was beautiful, very clean and modern. The outdoor layout is also very successful, perfect for enjoying the outdoors. We had a great time and would definitely recommend this place!

The house was perfect for our family of 8. It was spacious and well equipped. It was quiet with lovely views across Lake Ontario. The location was perfect, close to RBG and a 15 drive to good restaurants. Tal was extremely responsive to any inquiries prior to arrival and after arrival. We really enjoyed our stay.

The Vineyard Villa is absolutely perfect for a 2-couples or 4 girlfriends getaway. Perfectly appointed villa, beautifully decorated, comfortable bedding and furniture, full kitchen with everything you need to make a meal, and 2 lovely full bathrooms. Beautiful outdoor seating area for enjoying the view of the vineyards. Secluded and oh so quiet! You have full privacy, but the owners are close by if you should ever need anything. Bring casual food, books and games, and buy wine at the vineyard and your perfect getaway awaits!! We will be back!!

Excellent house for a large group in Ottawa! We had a great time.

Our family group had a wonderful stay at Harpreet's place. The property is as-described and photos of the house are accurate. There was a ton of space for everyone to spread out and a great social kitchen/main space setup. The indoor areas were very clean. When we arrived we did have to give the outdoor area a sweep and wiped-down the outdoor furniture ourselves, but that wasn't a big deal. The property backs onto a wetland area, which is beautiful and great for birdwatching. The downside, as others have mentioned, is that there are quite a few bugs. We brought 2 Thermacells and kept them running when we were out on the deck and found this, combined with the netting the host has in place, kept the bugs away and allowed us to enjoy the outdoor space. We did have a minor issue with the BBQ but the host was responsive and everything was resolved quickly. The master bedroom/bath is stunning! Slight drawback for the other bedrooms is there aren't a lot of surfaces for suitcases/bags.

This is at least our third time here and it's literally perfect! The place is even nicer than the pictures. Absolutely immaculate and if you ever have any issues, just text, and you will get a response likety split. Thanks again SO much!!!

Our brief stay at Shahram’s place was wonderful. The place is quietly tucked away at the back of a large lot where deer graze on the evening hours. The space was ample in size, has many common amenities that helped us feel right at home. Shahram was very communicative and flexible which really helped us relax. 10/10 would recommend.
