Ocean View cabin in Finca Exotica ecolodge

OscarRating, 5 stars11 months ago
Words will never do this place justice. Both the lodge itself and the surroundings are stunningly beautiful. The pictures give a slight impression, but the place must be experienced to really understand the beauty of this place. The cabins are placed up on a hill with an amazing view over the jungle and the ocean. Macaws are flying over you all day. Coatis, tapirs, agutis and monkeys cross the grounds and nature trails are plentiful. We did a trek into Corcovado through la Leona gateway which was well worth it. Way less crowded than la Sirena and the scenery is incredible. I also took some yoga classes while I was there. The yoga itself was great and the cherry on the top was 8 macaws settling into a tree right in front of the yoga platform during class. We were also really pampered with delicious food and smoothies. We got there by cab which took something like 1 h 45 m each way. On the way there the driver spotted loads of animals for us. I’m so grateful for the whole experience.

Vista Espectacular de Bahia Drake (Mirador)

JohnataneRating, 5 stars2 months ago
Michaele is a kind and caring man. He picked me up by car from my boat ride, on the main beach of Bahia Drake without it being planned! The place was simple but charming, and the nights spent in it to the rhythm of the sound of the waves were really magical. Sublime viewpoint a few meters above the accommodation, authentic warmthy place, I recommend it!! 🤗🙏

Cabin La Lora - COPROT Turtle Experience

DwightRating, 5 stars30 months ago
My stay at COPROT was the highlight of my CR trip. I know I was lucky to see both baby turtles and watch a mother laying eggs, but it was more than that. Esa (spelling?), the gal who showed me around and took me on night and morning patrols, was a wonderful person to chat with and very knowledgeable. I believe there were 13 people working there and they were all nice and tried to make my stay enjoyable. I especially remember the friendliness of Corto and Juan. I found myself wiping away a tear as I said good bye. NOTE: YouTube videos show that one has to drive through about 5 rivers to get there. Since the videos came out bridges have been installed so don't let the roads discourage you. They are not good, but no worse than other roads in CR.

Bungalow with a view of the Corcovado sea

ShaRating, 5 stars6 months ago
Fantastic little place! There are 3 cabins for guests on his lovely garden property. Basic but yet have everything you need to be comfortable and feel right at home. After our daily jungle hikes every afternoon we would rest in the hammocks on our front porch and watch the endless toucans, parrots etc fly by and play in the trees around us. There is No a/c but the beach breezes and fan at night with sounds of the ocean were comfortable enough for us. It took approx 5 min to walk from the beach up to the cabins via a little trail. If you have any mobility issues it is not for you, it’s a steep uphill walk. Guillermo was very friendly, hospitable and helpful. He helped coordinate our luggage to and from his place as we arrived by foot hiking the Drake trail from Drake bay and departed by boat straight from our day at San Pedrillo. Breakfast was served at whatever time suited you and we enjoyed the homemade meals esp fresh fish and his wife’s bread/cheese. Thank you for having us!

Steps to the Beach and Pool!

MatthewRating, 5 stars3 days ago
What a wonderful place for a family vacation! We stayed for four nights and took the time to snorkel and swim in the Golfo Dulce (puffer fish, a ray, sea turtles), paddleboard and kayak, birdwatch (an incredible spot for that!) bike around the coast, and lounge by the pool. Amanda and Jay are fantastic hosts and the casita was perfect for us. We’ll definitely visit again!

Really nice and quiet place ! Christian and his family were really friendly. They were really attentive, the service and the food were amazing. The location is good for ones who are looking for a quiet place and a private beach, always nobody in the closest beach ( 1 minutes walking for the bedroom) The bedroom is around 1 hours walking from the town and only 5 minutes by boat. No worries the boat from Sierpe to go to Drake bay will bring you until the place without extra cost. Thanks again Christian.

Jungle Retreat

PhilippeRating, 5 stars5 months ago
We had already been to François last year. Our stay was beautiful, relaxing and magical. If you like the jungle, nature and the feeling of being far from the rest of the world....this is the perfect place:) The Dulce Gulf is also a very special place....we took a boat trip with Osawild to see dolphins....and we had an extraordinary moment...A little jungle paradise or lots of species of birds and some monkeys naturally come to the property.

Hotel Margarita is located about a 5 minute walk up a hill from the main beach in Drake Bay. It was a great value for a stay in Drake Bay if you are looking for a modern clean hotel with good amenities -- it has a pool, A/C, and a great restaurant. All meals and drinks were really good -- I'd say the best in Drake Bay -- and they were very accommodating to serve early morning breakfast for those who had booked early tours. During check-in Mauricio was able to book two tours for us -- Cano Island and the 1-day hike to Sirena Station in Corcovado Park -- and coordinate to have us picked up by the tour company, which was very convenient and saved us reaching out to them directly. Overall I recommend Hotel Margarita for your Drake Bay stay, I think it would be especially good for travelers with kids given the pool, A/C, and convenient restaurant.

Christian and his wife provided a very comfortable and enjoyable experience during our stay with them in Drakes Bay. From the Boat pick up to the food and room accommodations, all were beyond our expectations. We would definitely stay at Cabina Yaseth again. Pura Vida!

Jungle cabin with forest view & kitchen, 1'

Ferdinand Und ElaRating, 5 stars2 months ago
We are quick to find the authentic CR our feeling. And we were not disappointed. The journey was spectacular but feasible with the four-wheel drive jeep, including the river passages. We were warmly welcomed and treated attentively and unobtrusively throughout our stay. The location is a dream and we found the days there were our most beautiful in CR.

Great place to stay. The accommodation is comfortable, close to a quiet beach and has a communal dining room with lovely food. Plus there is wildlife to spot on your doorstep. Highly recommend staying here instead of Drake Bay.

Golfo Dulce Waterfront Cabin

NicolaRating, 5 stars3 months ago
Magical spot right on the water. With the help of Google translate Cholo brought us fans on request and helped us organise kayaks which we'd highly recommend - we went for a beautiful afternoon kayak & took it out again for a quick spin in the night to see the bioluminescent plankton (we were lucky to have a dark night). The place is rustic so pack your bug spray & note only cold showers. But the bed nets were a good reprive for sleeping. It's so beautiful, we saw macaws & toucans from the stoop & a bat flew right into the house! & the kitchen was well equipped (stove top only).

Spacious bungalow 1' walk to the beach, Drake Bay

MichelleRating, 5 stars4 weeks ago
This place was incredible. It is truly is paradise. The Airbnb was about 45 minutes in a taxi from the Drake Airport and it is a truly special place. It is away from the busy areas so you basically have your own private beach, yet access to do any of the activities the area is famous for. The hosts went above and beyond to make sure any tour arrangements and taxis were taken care of. You can easily take a boat from the beach to Cano Island or Corcovado National Park. Playa Josecito is around a 30 minutes walk which is a great spot to swim. The room was very comfortable and clean with the grounds being immaculate with incredible trees and plants. I would recommend this place to anyone and hope to visit again!

Beachfront Large Cabin in 15 acre magical jungle

LisRating, 5 stars1 month ago
This spot was wonderful! This front of the playita Juanito Mora, which more than a beach is a pool, the sunrises there are beautiful, and although the sun does not hide in the sea, the sunsets are beautiful. The place has many walking trails, and the green area is spectacular. Please note that the kitchen is shared between 2 cabanas, but this is super equipped But the crown jewel of this property, it is the family that takes care of it, that people who are more genuine, friendly, careful and attentive! They helped us at all times, their treatment was super friendly, Stephen has 2 treasures in the south, this property and those caretakers, even took us fishing with them, helped us with recommendations, and were incredibly friendly at all times. Opening the window and seeing a group of titanium monkeys going through the canopy of the trees or see the laps flying, or the yachts among the trees, and the hundreds of birdsongs is one of the privileges that can be enjoyed here.

Susan Bungalow 2 Bahía Drake Corcovado Amaya Family

AnastasiaRating, 5 stars1 month ago
We had a nice stay in this cabin. The bed was comfortable, the space was clean and cleaned daily, there’s a small fridge and coffee maker/kettle, and the shower had hot water. There’s a small deck overlooking an area of trees, which was really nice. Sleeping at night with the fans was comfortable, although the power did go out a few times. Susana was quick to respond and make sure we had what we needed for our stay! It’s good to note a few things. Susana’s place is a part of a larger property with lots of accommodations so it can get quite busy. The cabin was up the hill and away from the main area, which we really appreciated. The bar on the property played really loud music. We couldn’t hear it at the cabin, but it was quite loud during the night walk. The restaurant has good food but very limited hours and only one option of meals, which you have to order 2 hours in advance so it’s good to bring snacks.
