Beach house holiday rentals in Big Sur

Sean's cottage is an absolute delight, we moved in as though it was our own home. Worth reading previous reviews mentioning building works next door. As we were prepared for this (they started 8am promptly Mon-Fri), also ants (which didn't show up) and the racoon in the bins (which did show up) none of this was an issue, and was reflected in the reduced rental. Sean was an excellent host, replied speedily to any queries, including calling a plumber for a minor problem. The cottage is the most homely of places, there's everything you could need, the kitchen is generously equipped and the beds are very comfortable. The pretty patio is full of flowers and birds. Since it was April, we were not outside in the evenings, but it seems noise is an issue with neighbours. There are polite but firm notices requesting no outside noise after 9pm which could be difficult on hot summer evenings. This was one of our favourite Airbnbs, the location is fabulous, so much to do, we were busy all the time

My team had a wonderful time at Stefan's place! The ocean views are magical and the house is very spacious. Incredible spot about an hour away from SF and Palo Alto. Stefan was very communicative and friendly. Check-in and check-out were simple. Very clear house rules. No complaints at all! We will definitely be back.

I can’t boast about this place enough. Holly went above and beyond to communicate with me. She gave lots of recommendations for food places. We tried Manuel’s, Venus, Pizza my Heart, and The Hideout. Hands down, hideout was my favorite! The home was BEAUTIFUL! Literally, a dream! Our kids (12 & 7) loved it too. We celebrated my son’s 7th bday there. We beached every single day! Their home was beautiful, clean, and magical. The hubby and I slept with the doors cracked open upstairs and literally fell asleep and woke up to the crashing waves. Walk across the street and you’re on the beach! It was heaven. I told my family I was depressed coming back home. HA! The backyard was darling! The lights were my favorite & I didn’t realize there was a little sandpit. Such a great gem. We were welcomed with a basket too. Filled with local bread, taffy (my fav), cookies, wine and coffee; Even with a hand written note. I can’t wait to book their home again. It was a dream. Thank you for having us!!

I love the location. I love the main home and the apartment with outside entrance. I love the garden backyard and the privacy. I always stay here when I am in Cambria. Nick is a 5 star host.

Dean’s place was great in terms of location, size and privacy. We’re familiar with pacific grove/monterey area so we knew what we were looking for. The house has (2) bathrooms which is great and appreciated as (1) bathroom abnb in the area are commonplace but with more than 3 people it’s great to have 2. House is located directly across from ocean walking path. You cross street and you are on the water-10 min walk to aquarium, cannery row, 10 min walk the other direction and you’re at lovers point restaurant. 10 min walk to downtown PG for many restaurants. Clean house, would stay there again for sure. Wife and I were there this time with 17yo nephew, 14yo and 12 yo sons. Plenty of space.

The cottage was extremely cozy and comfortable for our family of 3 (with a 5 y/o kid). 5 minutes away from a gorgeous ocean with a little private lagoon, very friendly and clean neighborhood. It is really a gem! Carolyn was super nice, sending us local recommendations and tips about the place and surrounding areas. Totally looking forward to coming there again and recommending others to check this place out!

We loved our short stay here last year so we planned another trip this year! The location is beautiful, serene, and quiet. The house is clean, spacious, comfortable, and the views are amazing. We enjoyed the local farmers markets, great trails, daily walks on the beach, and easy access to towns along HWY 1. This is truly a special place we hope to return to again.

This is my second time visiting Jesse's home. Everything went super smoothly and I was provided with all necessary information. I love the open floor plan and you can't beat the location. I love his eco friendly approach and all the kitchen accessories he has in order to cook in house. I haven't made it in the hot tub either visit, but hope to do so next time :)

The place was very clean, comfortable and well located to do lots of fun stuff, near the village/ downtown and near a great walking / view area at Los lobos, as well as 17 mile drive.

We had a family vacation and wanted a place where we could walk to the beach and back since we had elderly and a toddler in our party. The house was perfect for that. There was a crib and toys and books which we got to use with our daughter. The internet connection was non existent (it would say connected and say no connection) but we didn’t mind much as we were just there for vacation and didn’t need constant access to internet. Overall, our family had a wonderful time and made good memories.

This place was exactly what my family needed for our beach getaway! The layout of the house is so cozy and it felt like a home away from home. The 180’ of ocean views was truly amazing. We watched a pod of humpback whales go back and forth throughout the day and got to watch a feeding frenzy of thousands of birds all from the balcony! We drove 20 minutes to Henry Cowell Redwoods State park and walked around Pacific Ave in Santa Cruz. From the spot we walked to the beach (with all our boogie boards, sand toys, towels, umbrella, etc.), took advantage of Venus’ happy hour and really didn’t need to use our car for two days! This will definitely be a spot we stay at again!

The heated pool and hot tub were the focus of this very successful vacation. There were 8 of us: a family of 4 from Oakland, (Mama, Papa, girl 7, girl 3), from Chicago - a couple 37 & 40, and from Martha's Vineyard, us, 75 & 79. The 3 bathrooms were great, and the kitchen was well equipped. We ordered out mostly, from Hawaiian and Mexican restaurants. We spent a day on the boardwalk, and another on the trail at Wilder Ranch, where cliffs overlook ledges with MANY sunning sea lions, The house is easy walking distance from a couple of beaches. During our winter stay, there were high tides, wind and surf warnings. The views were spectacular. Also instructive. The father took his daughters an early morning walk; they saw a woman swept from the beach across the pavement. She had bloody knees, but was otherwise fine, but she and her two equally insane friends came off the beach. I hope the girls will remember this vivid lesson when they grow up to be invulnerable teenagers. Doubt it.

Wonderful host and an ideal place in a very quiet neighborhood with friendly and helpful neighbors. The provided area guides and home instructions were extremely helpful and the provided beach supplies were ideal to keep our personal packing nice and light! Would definitely stay here again ⛱️👍🌊

The decor was delightful! Very well outfitted with everything you need.beds super comfy. Really good size. We had more than enough room. I appreciate that Crystal saw no issue with my service dog joining us. I was a bit disappointed that you had to be on the balcony to see the beach. There was a complex in the front blocking most of the view from indoors. I also had issue with parking. The garage was only for small cars and the street parking was inconsistent and required several steps. My handicapped daughter found it a bit difficult. The area was not easily walked being on a very very steep hill. I wish there were more info in the description. All in all, it was a gorgeous place and really clean, highly recommend for non handicapped folks.

This Airbnb was perfect for our family trip to Monterey! It was clean, well-maintained, with a lovely backyard. We highly recommend staying here!

This was my third time staying with Susan and Greg, and every stay at their cottage in Baywood has been a blast. It’s peaceful, quiet, and Susan and Greg are wonderful hosts. The cottage is in the perfect spot to be able to walk to anything in Baywood Park (be sure to check out High Street Deli and Noi’s 2nd Street Cafe!). I’ve made it a point to stay here every time I’m down in the area for a longer trip, I can’t recommend it enough.

This was our second time staying at Mike’s place in Cambria, and it won’t be our last! We loved it so much the first time that we had to come back. The views of the ocean are absolutely breathtaking — you can sit for hours just soaking it all in. The home is clean, cozy, and has everything you need for a relaxing stay.

My family and I spent a fantastic week at Jackie's house. Sunny, comfy, and well-equipped with everything visitors might need, the house is a perfect spot to start and end a day of exploring beautiful Santa Cruz. We hope to return!

We had a wonderful time at Karen’s cottage. The space was clean, well decorated, and had wonderful amenities. It’s a short, hilly walk to town and has beautiful views of the ocean. Highly recommend!

Great place that is only 10 minutes away from Cannery Row. It was relatively clean, though I think the carpets could have been cleaned better and had dog smells. The neighborhood has plenty to do, and many grocery shops or (good!) restaurants in the vicinity. I would stay there again.

My birthday was great thanks to this atmosphere of the house. I sincerely recommend it to anyone who wants to relax. This is a great house close to the Pacific Ocean coast.🤩🌊

Amy’s incredible home was beautiful for the weekend. It was clean, the views are absolutely wonderful: faces the ocean and has a gorgeous viewpoint right outside. I felt right at home, and she was extremely helpful, communicative and responsive anytime I had a question! Would absolutely stay here again and recommend to anybody else. Amy is an amazing host and the home was unforgettable! Thank you!
