Cabin holiday rentals in Big Sur

This was a fun and peaceful space up and away from the main road. Perfect for a retreat/getaway. Recommend getting groceries before getting to town, as local stores are limited and a fair drive away. Hosts were responsive and helpful with all my questions. I appreciated it’s location as I was close to the race venue I was in the area for. Many thanks!

Beautiful place and location! Nice and secluded, perfect way to unwind after some long days of hiking in Yosemite. Quick 45 minute drive to entrance of Yosemite also! Ran into a small issue with the water but the host was very responsive and fixed the issue quickly! Would love to stay here again!!

I have to say that my stay was even better than I expected it to be. Charmaine took great care of us while leaving my fiancé and I in privacy. I can’t wait to book another trip!!

Beautiful, tranquil redwood oasis just 25 minutes from Santa Cruz. Everything about this space was intentional from the softest linens and jacuzzi, to the gorgeous setting! Highly recommend.

Lovely place to stay. Kitchen and bathroom were modern and lovely. We Cooked every meal at the house and it was a breeze. The heated bathroom floor was a lovely bit of luxury. There is a house close by, i didn't quite realize how close, honestly it wasn't a problem at all. Heard a saxophone being played at 6am briefly..once. If you an overly private person, perhaps the other house is a bit close, but, honestly it's also fine. Overall, wonderful place to stay, we felt extremely relaxed.

This place is magical and difficult to describe how beautiful it is. It feels like you're in another country. It's a bit off grid, with a drive up a steep dirt hill to get to it, but once you're up there it's just an amazing experience that I can't recommend enough. There's lot of wildlife, so do keep the doors closed to keep critters out. We had an amazing stay here and we would love to do it again.

Excellent place to stay. It was nice to walk up to the top of the hill to look at the beautiful views of the rolling Hills and other Vineyards. We had our dogs with us, and they also loved the small yard and being able to explore.

⸻ I had such a wonderful two-week stay at the farm. From the moment I arrived, everyone was incredibly friendly—especially the sweet little black cat named Teva, who wore a green collar and quickly became a favorite companion. Toni was so kind and responsive, always making sure everything was just right. The farm felt very safe and peaceful throughout my stay. Being in a cabin on a farm, a few bugs are to be expected, but it wasn’t an issue—I came prepared with essential oils, which worked well to keep them at bay. The cabin itself is cozy and compact, but the many windows let in so much natural light that it felt bright and open. The shower was great too—good water pressure and ventilation, though it might be a bit snug for some. Overall, it’s a lovely little escape—close enough to San Jose for convenience, but with a feeling of peaceful seclusion that makes it feel like a true retreat.

Very nice place, very comfortable and had everything we needed. Host was very nice, quick to respond and took care of everything we needed. Very beautiful area surrounded by redwoods and very private. Would definitely stay again.

Our stay at Brookes home was great! The space was incredibly clean and comfortable. We felt very comfortable and safe. I wish I could have stayed longer, but the space was beautiful outside even after the storm. We had a small hiccup trying to get the lock to work, but Brooke was super fast with her response & helped us get in quickly. 10/10 would stay again!

Staying at this cabin nestled in the heart of a redwood grove in the Santa Cruz mountains was truly magical. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that this wasn't just a place to stay — it was a carefully curated experience. The host has thought of everything to make guests feel at home and beyond comfortable. The attention to detail was incredible: high-quality toiletries, a well-stocked pantry with essentials (and then some!), soft, luxurious bedding, and even thoughtfully placed candles that added a cozy, relaxing atmosphere. Every touch felt intentional and generous. What truly set this stay apart, though, was the host. Incredibly accommodating, kind, and flexible — they went out of their way to ensure every one of our needs was met with care and promptness. It’s rare to come across someone so committed to hospitality. Waking up surrounded by towering redwoods, with birdsong filtering through the trees, was unforgettable.

From the start, Patrick was friendly, assisted me in booking with correct dates, patient in that we checked in past 12 midnight since there was road construction en route to picking up my daughter from U C Santa Cruz. If it wasn’t for his clear check in instructions, we would have been lost at such a late hour! The premises was soooo clean, our only regret was that we couldn’t stay longer. Highly recommend staying at this peaceful, clean, private, quiet, cabin! Thank you Patrick for being such a wonderful host!

We had a great stay at this cozy cabin in the Redwoods. What a beautiful location, of course the pictures do not do it justice. Literally nestled in the center of towering redwoods. The kids loved the swingset, art room, game room and of course exploring the yard for banana slugs. The cabin was much bigger than we expected, we definitely plan on returning in the future. It is a very special experience to get to stay on a private working cattle ranch. Mitch is a wonderful host, with a good sense of humor & interesting stories about the family ranch. It is very quiet. We heard young coyotes this morning. Lots of bird song and crickets. It is lovely taking a night stroll to look at the stars.

Robin’s Nest was such a beautiful getaway! Settled in the peaceful redwood forest above Santa Cruz (I rode my bike into town, which was fun!), it was a great place to escape the bustle, but close enough to enjoy some of the city’s amenities, food and culture. The bed was comfortable, kitchen was stocked, and the front deck/yard was such a lovely place for breakfast and morning coffee. I definitely plan on coming back when I need another escape!

Such unique Airbnb experience! It was lovely to stay in the redwoods- so quiet and peaceful. The host ensured that I read the manual before booking and I’d encourage the same to avoid surprises- steep walk to the house, no internet in there, and limited amenities, but all this was described in several locations. It was chilly, but the house is well equipped with space heaters and blankets. Sofanya was as responsive and friendly and checked on us a couple times when we crossed paths on the property to make sure we had what we needed, but gave us plenty of privacy.

We had the most wonderful stay at this beautiful cabin! The home itself was cozy, clean, and perfectly located for exploring Yosemite—but what truly made our trip unforgettable was the incredible hospitality of the hosts. They went above and beyond by welcoming our kids onto their ranch and teaching them all about the horses and goats. Our children absolutely loved getting to help feed and brush the animals—it was such a special experience they’ll never forget. We’re so grateful for the kindness and care the hosts showed throughout our stay. If you’re looking for a peaceful, family-friendly getaway with thoughtful hosts and a little magic thrown in, this is the place. We hope to return one day!

The Santa Cruz A-frame was such a serene retreat into the mountains for us, and an antidote to our overly digital and urban lives. Things we appreciated: easy parking, both an upstairs and downstairs bathroom, full kitchen supplies, private balcony, gorgeous forest views, creek in the back, and easy access to Loch Lomond (peddle boating on the lake was so peaceful), the redwood state park (hiking in the largely shaded trail was great on an otherwise sunny day), and local groceries and food (enjoyed the cute outdoor patio in the back of The Grove cafe and bakery). We had a wonderful rest!

Absolutely beautiful little place only a hour from Yosemite. We managed to beat the Memorial Weekend crowds and actually get to see the park before everyone arrived. Loved the stars from the front porch and the wild turkeys saying good morning as we left. Make sure you carefully follow the instructions to get there. Keep driving until East Whitlock becomes West Whitlock. It is a little confusing in the dark as the numbers on East Whitlock are similar and then you think you've missed it. Keep going and you will find it.

Kathleen’s place was exactly right for our needs, and the cottage’s vibe really resonated with us. The cottage is really unique.And we were there touched that Kathleen even tuned the piano!!

We used Daphne‘s Airbnb as our homebase while we explored the area around Paso Robles. The unit was very private and the nearest neighbor is a few hundred yards away. It was set in a field at the bottom of a hill. It was easy to drive and park right next to it. We had lots of wildlife encounters while we were there owls, Hawks,lots of deer and we think a weasel We’re gonna come back next time we’re in the area.
