Holiday rentals with a fire pit in Borgarbyggð

Birna was great. This was our first trip to Iceland, and she made us feel at home. The location is beautiful and the house was great. Thank you Birna very much for allowing us to stay in your home.

We feel so fortunate to have spent 2 glorious nights at Halldor’s house with our 2 college-aged sons. The house design is exquisite: a perfect blend of simplicity, style, and sophistication but lacking in pretension. The house is designed with windows and glass doors looking out over the property. In every direction there are rolling fields and river views. We loved dunking in the river and racing up to the sauna. We also loved the outdoor shower. We lit a fire each night and cooked meals in the wonderful kitchen. The only downside to the house is that you never want to leave it! But we did enjoy going into town. The Settlement museum offered a very good intro to Iceland history. This was a perfect place for us to stay on our way to the West Fjords. I truly hope we come back and stay much longer next time. Thank you, Halldor, for creating such a beautiful home.

Lovely house with beautiful views. Had plenty of space for 2 families, and the sun room was an unexpected bonus!

A great place and location to travel/explore while still having the comforts of home! As a family trip with 6 adults it was nice to have both shared and private space in the house. With the well-equipped kitchen and 2 good grocery stores in the nearby Borgenes we enjoyed preparing meals in the evening and having breakfast before heading out for our day trips. The washing machine and dryer allowed us to go home with clean clothes. The hot tub was nice to relax in after a long day of hiking. The beds were comfortable and the blackout shades in the summer were greatly appreciated. We even had a chance to pet friendly horses that would greet us near the turn-off for the house. Kari was an attentive and responsive host! Highly recommended for family and close friend trips.

A truly stunning house, tucked against beautiful landscape. The hot tub and fireplace were a hit with our family, and it truly felt like an oasis after a day out exploring. We were there in winter/early spring and it was charming. I can only imagine what the summer with access to the lake would be like! A great place for kids too. The little play structure is so close and the house clearly is a place for gathering family. This place is enough to tempt us to do another trip to Iceland!

Beautiful location - outstanding view of the mountains. Quite close to Borganes. We used it as a base to explore the edge of the West Fjords and the Snaefellsnes Peninsula

Beautiful cabin in one of the few forested mountain valleys in Iceland. Barrel sauna and cold plunge into the lake was absolutely fantastic. Beautiful waterfalls east of cabin (4x4 vehicle) and natural hot springs in area. Caught a couple brown trout from shore. Would/will return in the future

This was a great place to stay as a base camp for exploring western Iceland. Very clean and welcoming. The view is great, the hot tub is perfect after a long day walking around, and the beds were very comfortable. The kitchen and grill had everything we needed in order to cook meals. Jon and Kristin were great and made us feel right at home. They even had chocolate bars for us when we got to the house! A couple minor things to know if you're considering this house. 1. There are 3 bedrooms, but the third bedroom has a sofa bed, not a regular bed. This room is also the TV room, so if you were planning on using the TV a lot, you would need to put the bed back in to a sofa and vice versa each day. This wasn't a big deal for us since we weren't planning to use the TV. 2. One of the reasons I really liked this house is that it had a fireplace. This is true, but it's meant for burning DuraFlame logs, not actual firewood. I didn't realize that "real" fires aren't really a thing in Iceland.

Vignir has a wonderful cozy cabin. It is spacious has a very well equipped kitchen, a nice living room and the bed were very good. The location is also very nice, just some 10-15 minutes outside Borgarnes where you can get groceries and it’s an ideal location to explore west Iceland. It’s exactly as you can see on the pictures and description. Vignir is an excellent host. Communication went very smooth and he gave very clear instructions how to get to the cabin. Inside he prepared a booklet with simple instructions how things work in the cabin and lots of tips what to do and what to see in west Iceland. I can highly recommend!

Great host with a lovely home that matched or exceeded our expectations, located in beautiful surroundings with wildlife all around. The cabin was equipped with everything you could possibly want. Very happy.

Proactive, friendly and helpful hosts who answered all of our questions and gave us a heads up about events to attend on the site. The cabin and location is breathtaking, myself and my friends spent new years in the cabin's hotub watching the aurora while fireworks went off around us (what more can you say!). The nearby hotel may also put on public events for you to see (in our case it was a bonfire). Highly recommend if you're looking for a beautiful quiet place to relax with friends/ family. Well priced as well!

We had a wonderful stay, the cabin was lovely and the location was absolutely beautiful! Thor and Ryan were incredibly friendly and responsive hosts who made everything a breeze. Highly recommend!
