A very comfortable place to stay, providing a convenient location to explore Shetland. The accommodation was very thoughtfully laid out and equipped, providing a really nice, bright and deceptively spacious place that suited us very well (2 couples, no children). We loved sitting and gazing out of the sitting room window. We also really appreciated the home made cake, eggs, milk and other provisions provided by Fiona/the proprietor who gave us complete privacy and separation from their own house and garden.

Driftwood Cottage was the perfect base for our holiday to Shetland. We don't think we could have found anywhere better on the Islands! It exceeded our expectations. The cottage had everything we needed, with so many thoughtful additions too. We loved the colourful and eclectic decoration. There was plenty of space, a well-equipped kitchen, a comfortable sitting room and a restful bedroom. The large walk-in shower, with plenty of hot water, was great! The location is amazing! We had views out across the sea and Shetland ponies next door. We even had a curlew in the garden one day! We had some wild weather during our stay, and Driftwood Cottage was a warm, welcoming and peaceful place to retreat to, after a day of rain and gales! It was definitely a home-from-home.

We stayed for a long weekend in June and the cottage was absolutely beautiful. Decorated to the highest standard, it felt cosy and very relaxing. So many thoughtful extras which was most appreciated. Gorgeous views and our wee ones enjoyed watching the planes. The host was most attentive and you can tell that they pride themselves on creating a great visit for their guests. We received a very warm welcome from Gordon and Heather as we visited their Hillside Studio for the second time. The accomodation looks and feels brand new, it’s attractive and spotless, providing everything we needed for a comfortable eleven day stay in Shetland. The studio is ideally situated for access all over Shetland, a great central base for exploring what the island has to offer. It is peacefully situated on a Hillside community of similar properties, with fantastic views and only five minutes from all the facilities of Lerwick. Notwithstanding the new feel that the studio already exudes, Gordon strives to make improvements which will benefit future guests. It’s a great place to stay and we plan to book again for a future holiday!
