Pet-friendly holiday rentals in East Africa

This was a perfect little home with full kitchen, bedroom and bath! I felt safe, and well cared for with Pamela and her husband, as they picked me up at the airport and welcomed me to their airbnb. It was totally private, fully stocked with all I needed for my stay. I only wish I could have stayed longer! It is a very good value too! I hope to return one day!

Nous avons passés 4 jours formidables dans la maison de Maud, avec ma famille et nos 2 chiens (grand et petit gabarit). Maud nous a si bien accueilli 🙏🏿 L’accès à la plage depuis la maison était juste géniale. La maison, les chambres, la cuisine et l'extérieur étaient top ! C’était nos premières vacances en AIR BNB et nous tenons à remercier Maud du fond du cœur de nous avoir permis de vivre cette belle expérience en famille et avec nos toutous.❤️🍀

This rental home is probably one of the most unique that we have ever experienced. Incredible natural beauty, gorgeous views, refreshing outdoor bathrooms, etc. Felt like we are in nature while having the luxuries of civilization. Truly a memorable stay. Dave and his crew are helpful and accommodating. If we ever get out to Tofo again, we would love to stay here for an even longer duration.

This place is definitely worth your time looking at. I thought I’d miss being right at the beach, but honestly, we looked forward to coming ‘home’ to Joseph and David and the calm, quiet, cool of Ruby House. We spent time reading, playing games, reconnecting and resting, as well as swimming and bobbing in the creek - listening and watching birds. It is so peaceful - chatting with fishermen, and just taking in the surroundings. We went for a few day trips- the Gede ruins are well worth an hour of your time, sand dunes north of malindi were great. And we LOVED Garoda Beach - much less seaweed and less busy. I could not speak more highly of the staff - they were present but not, flexible, understanding and really wanted to help make your time enjoyable. The rooms were so comfortable. I think it may be a little hot in the very hot month, but it gets a lovely breeze and there is always the one room to escape into for an afternoon nap if necessary - but we didn’t need to do this. Thanks!

There are a lot of Villas in Zanzibar, but there are not a lot of hosts like Sonia. And so staying at her villa was one of my best experiences in Zanzibar, and it’s my 4th visit to the Island. The villa is Pristine, the pool is crystal clear and it has everything you need for a comfortable stay. There’s plenty of light; you wake up to bird sounds in the morning and the way the sunrise streams into the house in the mornings is just beautiful. The beach is just a little walk through the village and I personally enjoyed watching and chatting with the locals. Sonia and her partner were always happy to help and provide recommendations for everything we needed. The icing on the cake is the complimentary pick up service. We were a group of 6 and we had enough space to all spend time together, and time apart. I will be back for sure.

Gary’s place is the best for a calm holiday. The chef is polite and cooks delicious food with great suggestions. Very helpful staff who are not too much in your space. They helped keep the place clean and that made the holiday so much better for us. This is truely a gem and we will definitely be back. Thank you Gary

Nous avons passé deux semaines extraordinaires chez Xavier (sans oublier Sangeeta et Devicka) qui est très accueillant. La villa est parfaite sans aucun vis à vis et très sécurisée, c’est un vrai paradis avec tout le confort, il ne manque rien !. Nous reviendrons et conseillerons à nos amis et familles cette magnifique maison. Merci pour tout Xavier (vos conseils, votre accueil chaleureux). Nous espérons revenir très bientôt. This was the perfect little tree house retreat. The house was nestled in a beautiful little corner of the property, with a narrow path to guide you, surrounded by trees for privacy. There’s a covered patio that is perfect for an outdoor hang in the rain, the area surrounding the tree house gets quite a bit of sun but you need to bring your own equipment to enjoy it. This is a tree house through and through no frills but an authentic rustic experience. There’s hot water to enjoy a bath and shower, mosquito nets to protect you from the occasional flying thing that creeps in at night ( I wasn’t particularly bothered by bugs but the mosquito net allowed me to sleep peacefully), there’s a cute little loft with a bed. The kitchen has everything you need to sustain yourself but no gourmet dinners are happening here. WiFi worked perfectly. It was just the perfect little no frills low tech retreat that I needed. Stairs are a bit narrow so no kids/ wobbly folks.

The highest compliment I can pay is that this accommodation was exactly as advertised. The house is beautiful, the views stunning and the pool and beach very inviting. It is down a rocky dirt road to a private and secure gate. Not for everyone, but easy to navigate. Once at the house, if you are looking for a quiet, slow oasis, “away from it all” you could not pick a better spot.

Our group really enjoyed the stay! The home was beautifully nested in nature, yet quite close to Stone Town for exploration. The staff were extremely attentive, helpful, and kind. Would recommend for future travelers!

We had a fabulous stay at Ronan’s place! The apartment is truly a haven in the Garden of Eden. All appliances you can think of are available. Everything looks just like the photos. I can definitely recommend Ronan’s place wholeheartedly. We’ll choose his place again when we return.

The villa was beautiful . Amazing staff . Levis went above and beyond . He was always happy to help us . The chef Fondo’s food was a brilliant. we enjoy every meal he produced.

La maison est un lieu idéal pour un groupe de 8 personnes ! Nous avons vraiment apprécié Zam le gardien et Lotorine la cuisinière Petit bémol avec Bab la personne qui propose les trajets en bateaux et excursions, on vous conseille de vous rapprocher plutôt des habitants du village

My family had a wonderful 4 nights staying at Margo’s property - very private, very large functional bedrooms with fans, air conditioning and private ensuites, plus a separate fully self contained 3rd bedroom. A beautiful pool, 24 hour security onsite, daily house cleaning by Ester. And the dogs were super friendly and great company. If you like football, pack your boots and enjoy a game with the locals on the pitch next door. If you like tapas or just really good food - recommend having dinner at “ To Be” which is approx 1km from Margo’s. Couldn’t find fault with the accommodation or the lovely Margo as a wonderful host, who was available, responsive but also gave us total privacy.

We had a wonderful stay at this lovely Airbnb! The space is beautifully decorated with great attention to detail, creating a cozy and relaxing atmosphere. The garden and pool area are perfect for unwinding. The kitchen is well-equipped with everything we needed, making it easy to cook at home. Check-in was flexible and hassle-free, and the host was incredibly kind, responsive, and made us feel genuinely welcome. We would absolutely love to come back :-)

Excellent place. the house is amazing it's well designed. fantastic views of the mountain from master bedroom, living room and dining room. friendly staff always available and helpful. I would recommend this place and would definitely visit again..

Byron and his assistants were very responsive and helpful with every aspect of our stay. It is a beautiful place, nice pool and open layout, very short walk to a nice beach and restaurants, stores.

Marula cottage was a wonderful serene place to spend a few days. The staff and their attention to detail was great. We felt really cared for and spoilt. Many thanks to Aleem and Soraiya. We will be back for sure.
