Hockey Hut

Hockey Hut is a cosy, clean, self contained and comfortable hut it has everything you need for a cosy stay. We offer a variety of cereals, breads, tea and coffee for breakfast. Franz Josef township is a 10 minute walk away or a 2 minute drive. Relax and enjoy the beautiful native surroundings. We are at the far end of Cron street, straight past the hot pools, then past the medical centre until you see our red Maori Pau (red carving) then turn right up our drive. We are 116 Cron street.

The Tower is a comfortable two storey, seperate building with an upstairs bedroom with ensuite bathroom. It has excellent views of the sea and the Southern Alps. A warm, cosy and quiet space with a private garden. Free Wifi (system fully upgraded August 2021) Downstairs is the living room / kitchenette area. Upstairs and downstairs are connected by external stairs (see photos). Awesome outdoor bath - great for stargazing (new Aug 22). There are balconies on three sides of the tower.

My friend and I really enjoyed our 2 night stay here. The people here are so friendly as we were greeted with muffins and water and were welcomed to help ourselves to complimentary soup and coffee. The hostel is walking distance to the restaurants and shops and surrounded by the most remarkable landscape. We would definitely recommend this to others and hope to come back one day.

The Church at FOX is a fantastic and truly unique place to stay in a great location. A former church that has been lovingly renovated into a contemporary space with great attention to detail: lots of windows, amazing kitchen, amazing bathroom. A short walk to restaurants, cafes, and small groceries. Be aware that A.J. can be somewhat slow to respond to questions; AirBnb says he averages around eleven hours, but we had one important question that took much longer. Nevertheless, we would definitely stay here again.

Kath and Dan were great Hosts, they went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The weather was wild but the cottage was warm and cosy. We will recommend teapot cottage to friends and family and will definitely stay again if in the area.

One of our favourite Airbnbs during our road trip around the South Island. It was cosy, it was quiet, it was close enough to town and not to far from some great walks. The hot tub was such a bonus and had views of the mountain, as long as it wasn’t too cloudy. We’re glad we stayed 2 nights.

The house is just 5 mins away from the town centre. The kitchen is well equipped -- we appreciate this so much because we prefer to cook rather than eat outside. The instruction is clear, we find the place and checked in very easily. The jacuzzi outside is a nice touch to the stay. 10/10!
