Formally a fortified castle “Fort de La Bastide “ was constructed on the site of a Roman military station. The earliest historical mention is 1417 and it's long history includes an invasion in 1584 by Protestants during the period of the Huguenot wars. The fort has maintained many original features including the old stone staircase at the front door leading up to a 4 bedroomed loft apartment . Our house is located in the medieval village of Peyreleau, nested in the Grands Causses, in front of the Gorges du Tarn and de la Jonte. We offer two separate bedrooms (for 2, or 3/4 guests), directly accessible on each side of a large and quiet shadowed terrace, a balcony to the Causse noir and the Gorges de la Jonte. A living-room is also dedicated to our guests, for breakfast, a drink or just relax.
